Kage
ooc: ok, so i have added the od unknown in there but im really really lazy..... and its not that important anyway. plus i have not really filled much for the likes and dislikes but i find it gets a bit repetative making long lists of things someone likes or hates so i kep it short to favorite things, and most hated.
Name: Kevin Blackwell Nickname: Kage Code Name: none that i can think of at the moment Affiliation: Xavier's Gender: Male Age: 37 Hair: dark blue Eyes: Black Mother: Sarah Blackwell, original, human, alive Father: Geoff Blackwell original, human, alive
Physical Description:
About five foot 8 tall he was of a medium build, before his transformation Kevin acted and moved like any normal person, his hair was a dark brown and eyes hazel. His clothing style was mainly jeans and t shirts, though he did occasionally put on a suit If circumstances required it. his voice had a soft tone and he was very quiet to begin with, but as he settled in Kage became louder as his confidence grew.
In a rage his posture is much different, an attacking stance, his movements quick and sometimes irrational. His hands are never clenched in a fist, instead opened as if to slash or grab, his feet usually wider apart and he never backs away, usually sidestepping around an opponent. If he encounters multiple opponents he will always go for the closest one to him, not able to really think well enough to pick and choose targets.
After the transformation into his alternate form became permanent his posture whilst out of a rage changed, he stoops, his body covered as much as possible by long clothing, a drab old trench coat and hooded jumper are essential clothing to cove his looks, though gloves are impossible as his clawed hands are not able to be covered that well. Whilst in daylight Kage will keep to the shadows as much as he can and even at night he prefers to stick close to walls and buildings, offering him partial shelter. his voice also has chaned dramatically, now a raspy ragged voice as if every word is forced and fought for
He suffers from a genetic disorder manipulating his powers to the extent that they have taken over his appearene, something he has named the Black Rage (due to his black eyes in a rage). To begin with he was a normal teenager, suffering only from severe temper tantrums over the slightest thing. But as time wore on he began to notice changes to his body when he was in one of these tantrums.
It started with his eyes; they darkened to an almost total black when he was angry. Then his skin began to change colour whilst in a rage to a darker shade, his teeth began to change as well, becoming pointed and sharp and his fingernails lengthened and sharpened into talons. To begin with this was only whilst he was angry, but soon the periods of anger began to take over his life, and after each tantrum the pain in his limbs was incapacitating.
This carried on for a while, and he soon controlled it through anger management, realising by now that it was having a negative effect on his body. But not for long, slowly the changes began to become more permanent, not disappearing after a change. This continued and now he is stuck in the enraged form even while in a normal state mentally
Normal state now his skin is a blue colour, his teeth pointed, his face deformed slightly, making his features slightly doglike in appearence, eyes black, hair ragged and dark blue, fingers and toes topped with razor sharp talons.
Powers:
Rage
Not so much a power as a problem.
Kage’s condition offers him certain enhanced capabilities but with a price, ultimately if no cure is found his body will burn itself out and he will die…. Slowly and painfully
Whilst in a rage Kage feels no pain
This can be a good thing sometimes, but on the whole is a total nuisance… anything he sustains whilst in a rage is still present when he returns to normal, and then he feels it, and regrets it.
His strength is magnified whilst in a rage, normally he is no stronger than someone of his build, but when angered this is magnified tenfold, the more angry, the stronger he becomes.
A drawback from this is that the more he goes into a rage, the more it is taking him over and the quicker his demise.
Also whilst his strength increases in a rage, his ability to think straight decreases and he becomes irrational, it is all he can do to stop himself hurting the people he cares about, something that he is not entirely sure how he does as he is not able to actually think himself to stop. It could be just plain luck that he has always run out of steam and returned to normal, but the more likely explanation is that he is somehow able to subconsciously tell himself to stop when he becomes too dangerous. No matter what the explanation he is not willing to risk the consequences of not being able to stop himself.
His talons allow for advanced wall climbing ability, though not hanging from ceilings, just the ability to climb most surfaces by digging his claws in.
When returning to normal after being in a rage Kage suffers from exhaustion and headaches, this caused by the extreme pressure his alternate form and the virus is creating
At the moment Kage has become stuck in his alternate enraged form, but he is not constantly in an actual rage. these bursts of rage are not sustainable forever, and after a while he will calm down and return to normal if a little worse for wear. however he has become increasingly easier to anger or upset, making for the time between each outburst to become considerably, and his body is burning out all the quicker for it.
History:
Born to a regular family in New York his childhood was spent mostly playing with his brothers and sisters in their neighbourhood with other local children, most of the time things went normally but Kage was always throwing a tantrum whenever he lost a game or was singled out in a joke. But everyone believed this to be just him being a spoilt child, nothing more.
At school he progressed well academically, not coming first in his class… but then again not everyone could be able to can they. The only bad thing was his knack of getting into fights with other children and arguing with his teacher, which in turn resulted in a lot of extra homework and detention, improving his education greatly.
It was not until his teenage years that any signs of a mutation began to show, but then again that is when a large number of mutations begin to surface. At first it showed up as a subtle changing of his eye colour when he was angry or upset, this subtle darkening eventually developed into a black in these situations.
To begin with this could be covered up, after much discussion Sarah and Geoff decided not to seek advice on what was wrong, instead they got him tinted glasses to try and cover up the fact that his eyes changed slightly at times. But as they darkened this became a pointless exercise, and soon both parents became afraid of what would happen to him.
Soon other changes began to occur when he was angry or upset, his skin colour began to change to a blue tint, and like his eyes slowly darkened every time he had a tantrum, always changing back to normal colour after it had passed like his eyes, another, more alarming feature was his fingernails that seemingly grew into sharp talons and teeth that became almost vampiric. The decision to take him out of school and keep him away from a world that would be afraid of him was made. For Kage this was a traumatic time, every time he changed he could feel a pain afterwards coupled with an immense physical exhaustion, that and the sudden separation of him from his friends caused him to become more and more upset, starting a vicious circle of pain and exhaustion.
Then there was a visitor… a man arrived one day from a special school and spoke to his parents at great length, and although he never said that Kage’s mutation was a problem that needed to be cured… that is what his parents believed. And they agreed to let him go to the school believing that it was the best thing to do for him, as he was obviously sick and this was going to make him better.
His first impression of the school was that it was most likely some form of government cover-up, where all the freaks were sent to be kept from the public eye until such a time as they could be cured of whatever it was that caused them to have these strange powers or abilities. That view soon changed after being there a few months and learning that he was not the only one with problems.
Initially rather backwards in building friendships up Kage felt it better to keep himself away from other students as much as possible in order to avoid confrontation and keep him from hurting anyone. But lesson times were impossible to avoid, and he had to talk to people at some stage. One of these people being Hank, one of his teachers and someone with whom he felt friendlier towards because of the man being blue and furry, it was comforting to know that he was not the only strange looking person out there, even if he was only blue for short periods.
He slowly began to settle in more and more, getting involved in sports and individual tuition fom Logan as to how to control his rage, lessons ranging from intense medication to the use of calming drugs to keep him from becoming angry at the slightest thing. This was however undermined every now and again by students who thought it would be funny to provoke him, luckily on the one occasion that it happened it was broken up by McCoy who happened to be passing by at the time.
He was keen on sports, and took up baseball in his spare time. Over the time he was at the school Kage became quite good at the sport, playing quite often when he had free periods. This served as a welcome distraction to the rage within himself for a short while, but the outbursts were still there.
Over the next two years his transformation began to last for longer periods of time after coming out of a rage and returning to normal mentally, the time to change back physically became longer and longer, the time to change into became shorter. Not only that but the pain afterwards was greater as well, so much so that he became worried that something major was wrong.
Seeking medical advice the eighteen-year-old Kage underwent a few medical tests, the doctor Hank also being worried that something might be wrong from his own experience with mutations being out of control. It was now that Hank discovered that Kage had a genetic disorder linked to his powers, it was like a virus that was manipulating his power to transform into a stronger form and that the reason that he was beginning to transform permanently was also down to this medical problem.
This was not the only thing that was discovered, it was also discovered that the virus was linked to his anger and that his powers were being amplified by this, the more angry he got, the more powerful he became. Not a problem you might think, but the pain and exhaustion Kage was experiencing after a transformation was because his body could not sustain such an accelerated development in powers, and it was burning itself out at an accelerated rate… if they could not find a way to stop this ‘virus’ he would Die a slow and painful death, and soon.
He was distraught and with good reason, at first worried that he might be contagious, something that was soon put aside as not being the case. It was only slight relief though, for the problem was still there and although Hank was a genius in the field of genetics Kage was still rather apprehensive that he would find a cure in time.
But He put these thought aside the best he could, involving himself more with the X-men teams and missions, and his lessons. After only a short while Hank had managed to find a way to slow down the progress of the virus, which Kage had now named ‘the black rage’ although this was never meant to be a permanent solution it gave them more time to work on a cure for his condition. After his schooling had finished Kage stayed on at the school, being friends with many of the teachers and having come rather well educated, one of his many studies being in the field of medicine and genetics in order thet he might further understand his condition and assist in the finding of a cure, he also assisted as much as he could with lesson preparation.
But there was only so much he could do… teaching was certainly not an option for he was too afraid of what he might do if a student ever wound him up, afraid that he might end up causing them some real damage. A device given to him by Hank so that he could move around both the school and outside areas without worrying about being seen covered up his rather freaky looks, the only slight problem being that when he became angry or upset he tended to break the devices.
By the time he was 28 Kage had come to the realisation that he was too much of a danger to those people around him. After numerous devices destroyed and several bouts of rage whilst on missions that nearly caused him to harm his fellow team-mates before he forced himself to control it once more he had come to the conclusion that for the safety of others around him he should leave the school.
Naturally people tried to convince him otherwise, Hank promising that he was on the verge of finding a cure and that he could treat him much better for his anger at the institute. But Kage’s mind was made up and instead of convincing him to stay the doctor instead convinced him to keep in contact in case a cure was found, and to promise that if things got too bad that he would return to the school without hesitation.
And so he agreed and left, deciding to move as far away as possible from the school in case there were any problems and anyone was able to link him with them. He made his way to Canada, setting himself up to research his condition using all the skills he learnt over the years from Hank and the other teachers. his decision on canada was based heavily on his involvement with Logan whilst at the school for the older mutant had been there, and although not all of it had been happy out in canada it seemed a nice remote place to go and hide away for a while.
But there were a few snags for whilst he could remain patient enough whilst writing his findings and theories down, he was not so patient when trying to achieve actual results in creating a cure, and on many an occasion his equipment shared the same fate as the device to cover his looks.
Years passed and he was no closer to a cure, the black rage was slowly progressing towards the predicted final stages (Hank had initially worked out the possible stages of the virus development) Kage was suffering more and more after every outburst and to add to this he was having to hide from a public that feared him as a monster.
Whilst in Canada his appearance changed, his face becoming distorted and almost doglike in a way, his body turning a darker shade of blue and becoming more muscled, yet seeming to look thinner and thinner. Things were not going well at all and finally he admitted defeat, making his way slowly back towards New York in the dead of night, hiding his looks beneath a tattered cloak.
His journey was long and tiresome, not able to take many forms of transport, as he was too obvious really as clothing can only do so much against his looks. On the way he ran in to an organisation that were capturing mutants and other creatures, a government organisation and Kage was taken to an underground facility where tests were to be run on him, something that did not sit too well with the easily enraged mutant, but for all his struggles against capture he was still druggable.
He eventually broke out before they had much of a chance to do anyhting with him having barely got him to a cell, and went into hiding again, afraid once more that they would be able to link him with the school and that he would be endangering Xavier’s, for a few months he remained in hiding before the final realisation that if he did not return to the school he was never going to find a cure, through all this he had managed to retain possession of the one thing that had not been destroyed by him in a rage, the notebook of his research, it was his one hope that if he managed to get to the school that Hank would be able to make some sense of it.
In desperation he returned to the school, hoping that his clearance was still good, and wondering if his former ferinds would recognice him, his facial deformation and voice change hd occured i the years after he had left the school.
Since his first arrival at the school contact with his parents was slim to none, in fact they virtually stopped trying to talk to him, especially when he tried to explain that being a mutant was not something that needed a cure… they seemed to think otherwise and refused to acknowledge him as still being their son. It was a severe down point in his life, and one he prefers to forget as much as possible, he lost control quite badly and had to be restrained.
Though it was not an easy task, even at the age of 17 he was still quite dangerous when in a rage, and in these circumstances of grief and anger he did not have the ability to stop himself from damaging his friends. Logan fell victim to his anger, whilst trying to restrain the young mutant without causing him any injury Kage was not able to offer the same… though he did not want to Kage could not stop himself from tearing into the older mutant, he was only glad afterwards that it was not someone who didn’t shrug off injury so easily.
But then again, he did not just injure other people; in his anger he had done a great deal of damage to himself (not intentionally mind), something that in a rage he would not be able to feel. But as soon as he had calmed down several days later he had needed a lot of treatment for self sustained wounds… punching solid walls had its downfalls at a younger age.
There were specks of hope though that his family had not totally deserted him, his brother and sister still kept in contact as much as they could in secret from their parents, but things were never going to be the same. For this reason that whole period in time he has since hidden deep within his memory, but never letting it go completely for it was a good reminder of what he could do if his rage remained unchecked.
Personality:
Kage has a fiery personality and is easy to anger to a point of rage, when not in a rage however he is a nice enough person but his condition causes him to snap at the slightest provocation. He tries to be considerate but most of the time Kage tends to be suppressing his inner rage and can come across as a bit of a hermit due to him not wanting to hurt anyone that he doesn’t have to and avoiding people and confrontation.
If something upsets him he mostly gets angry and destroys it, hence going through several devices to hide his mutant form.
Although he has formed several friendships over his time at the institute Kage has tried his best to remain retracted as much as possible from people in order to keep them safe in case he turned nasty at any point. This did not happen as well as he would have liked however and there were bonds formed with some of the older members of the X men that may still remain strong after so many years away.
This retraction did manage to achieve one thing, being constantly afraid of what he might do if he were ever provoked did hinder his formation of any form of relationships with the opposite sex, for although he did have feelings for people he would never react upon them. This might not always have been the best course of action though as sometimes his self-imposed ban on Dating served only to frustrate himself sometimes. Though the chances of anyone wanting to date a half crazed blue skinned creature he believed were slim to none anyway.
Likes:
Music, baseball and general sports watching and playing.
Dislikes:
himself mostly, what he has become and what he fears will happen if he cannot either control himself or find a cure. Also what he is capable of doing when upset or angry
Re: Kage
remove the unknowns that are banned from aaplications and it's good to me too... just say alive (or dead) but their status is unknown to Kage.
that's cheating! You can have a little while to decide but promise you'll decide so that that unknown is wiped off ok? -folds arms- don't make me pout at yoooou.
