Katie Brooks - Human I told you to beware of another character XD. Anyway, I know the character I have in mind, but it’s hard for me to develop her personality, which was the same deal with Sonny, the reason why he lacked proper explinations in that department. But I have my ideas for Katie and just can’t seem to settle on some things, I think role playing will help me work out her wrinkles. History wise especially, if the history is too vague I will try and add to it, but if it’s acceptable I will add to it later… once the character evolves somewhat XD Player Details:
Name: Angela (or Angie) email: warangel17@hotmail.com Other Form/s of Contact: MSN via my email address and my Forgotten Love exInbox. Character Details:
Name: Katherine Brooks Nickname/s: Katie Code Name: - Work Affiliation: Nova Café and The Viper Club School: Mass. Academy Legal Status: No criminal Record. Occupation: Student. Actress. Singer. Waitress. Race: Human. Place of Birth: New York. Marital Status: Single. Gender: Female Age: 17 Birthday: March 29 Hair: Light brown & darkish blonde. Falls to the mid section of her back and is usually wavy, but is known to often dye and style it for different roles she plays. Eyes: Two brown with taint of golden flecks. Height: 5”7 Weight: 44kg
Other Physical Details: Stunning. Katie is definitely a head turner, looks along can let her go far in the world, golden waves fall down to the mid of her back. Quite often wearing make up, her eyes are usually darkly done. Perhaps the only flaw in Katie’s beauty is the fact she may appear at times ‘too’ perfect. Not everyone thinks of dating someone who can out pretty a Barbie doll, but that doesn’t mean they won’t admire her from a distance! Perfect from head to toe, Katie isn’t afraid of flaunting herself, in fact, she has tattoos over her body, focused on her back and her shoulders.. The tattoos are of a dragon theme, greens and oranges are easily seen marking her perfect skin. Usually she wears tops that are relatively short, in fact, the shorter the better for her, and she isn’t too concerned for the same remark regarding mini skirts and tight shorts.
Full yet soft lips have been something that gained her much attention, the added fact she was so young and full of vibrant energy only boosted her popularity. Her somewhat shorter then average hight regarding supermodels is sometimes causing a clash of opinions with people who want to hire her, usually her strong personality adds to boosting her charms.
Mother: Esme Brooks / Human / Made Up Father: Thomas Brooks / Human / Made Up Other Important Relatives: Adopted Family: The other girls in the Viper Club and Jerold Whitlock, their caretaker.
Personality:
Enjoys excitement, scorns rude people and doesn’t like watching people being used or mistreated. Life is basically a huge chessboard that you have to navigate in her opinion, if you don’t make the right move you can lose the game. At Mass.Acadamy she’s a normal everyday student, everyone may assume she’d be highly popular, but since Katie despises the attitudes of other obnoxious girls seem drawn to her company, Katie tends to avoid large groups all together, preferring the company of one or three others instead.
There’s usually a placid smile or lost gaze stuck on Katie’s expression, sometimes she takes things at face value and other times she can be quite paranoid on the reason behind the actions of others. She especially doesn’t trust adults, save for Jerold. Katie often feels as if the only reason people are so desperate to know her is so they get their five minutes of fame or the chance of being able to get things out of the friendship with a popular celebrity, other then the friendship itself that is. If someone uses her, Katie tends to sever all ties and usually curtly ignores them if they try to start up a conversation with her.
Likes:
Singing, acting and photo shoots. Live modelling has lost its lust for her, but she doesn’t mind doing it still, posing in front of a camera is far better in her mind. Her singing may not be heavily amazing, but she still has a talent that she enjoys expressing openly. A drama queen at birth, give her a role and Katie will thrive on perfecting her character, it’s the greatest thing in the world as far as she is concerned.
Dislikes:
Being used. When people forget she’s a teenager still trying to experience life and treat her as if she’s some asset to be exploited. One day she wants to tell her story to the world, she just fears that her life will always be incomplete, so she hates stringent routines that restrict her personal life.
Skills:
Singing:
Clear and strong, smooth and vibrant, Katie may not have the voice of an Angel, but she has a good voice nonetheless. No restricting herself to a single class of songs, Katie takes whatever is thrown her way and handles it well, much like her acting roles.
Acting:
Due to her fluency as a performer, the ease and effort in which she takes on a characters personality and thoughts, Katie has quite warmly been accepted into the world of film celebrities. With both her singing career and film appearances she is a popular entertainer, especially amongst her own generation, and not surprisingly has a large horde of male fans.
Waitressing:
Although not as fun in most cases, it is a great deal less stressful, and offers Katie a chance of mingling with the public. Often she is recognised in the Nova Café, which is both good and bad, as business goes well due to regular costumers who enjoy being served by a celebrity, and bad that sometimes it brings unwanted company there to bother her. Katie is a wonderful hostess and is good with the people she is serviving.
History:
Every person in their lives has an abundance of moral dilemmas they must face. Sometimes those dilemma’s are less taxing then others, and sometimes they can change the course of someone’s life, be it their own or someone else’s. For Katie Brooks, her life’s path was chosen at an early age by her parents. And her mother’s dilemma had been to take advantage of their young daughters looks by entering her in the modelling contests that were ever popular and, more importantly, winners usually were awarded with prize money. Otherwise Esme could allow the chance to pass and be non the richer, and her three year old daughter non the wiser on the troubles her parents were financially facing, like any and all families generally go through at times.
However the prospect of winning money off their child was more then tempting, so dressing the toddler up, Esme and Thomas took their child to the first agency they could find which hosted contests for the younger models. At first it was just a form of entertainment, a playful hope that they could gain some extra cash in the their time of need. But the first year in which Katie had been enrolled into numerous contests proved far too promising to ignore. Every time she came in the top five, every single time she was either the winner or so close to winning. By the time Katie turned five it was a serious event, everything was meticulously done to prepare her for the show, every penny earned was spent on gorgeous clothes and fantastic accessories. The amusement of being the center of attention kept Katie entertained for a while, but gradually she was realizing, as she grew older, that with all the stress on modelling, she wasn’t being allowed to lead a normal life like the other girls her age. When she wanted to spend time at a friends home, she wasn’t allowed to, when she wanted to eat out with friends, she could, never permitted to stray off her special diets and always forced to spend time at the close by gym with her mum or dad.
It was perhaps the sole luck that one of the modelling contests were also for Beauty and ‘other talents’, because it was then that Katie made up a small play to go along with a song she adored at the time. The 11 year old finally having a fun time practicing for the now common event. In the audience was a renowned gentlemen called Jerold Whitlock, who was the owner of a Club that was also home to a talent agency, known by many as only accepting the best or those with great potential. It wasn’t just that Katie was beautiful, an amazing girl admittedly, but there was something about her personality that just sparkled. Many girls were pretty, he had seen more then his fill and had his hands on more then he could care to remember, each one just as beautiful or even better then the last.
Jerold was never focused on looks alone when it came to recruiting girls though, he knew perhaps better then anyone how pathetic a dumb beauty was when she tried to make it in the world. The age of brainless blondes was over, and Jerold was positive that Katie was the new generation of witty vibrancy that would grace the world in years to come. And he wanted to be the one behind her rise to fame. During the performance, Katie had slipped up, literally, the heel of her shoe broke, her leg buckling and causing her to fall to the heavily polished stage floor. When such an obvious mess up is made, the models usually burst into some form of distressed tantrum, often running off the stage in a typical show of humiliation and failure. Katie on the other hand took it in her stride, so perfectly continuing her singing of the sad love song as if it was all part of the play, the shoe just another prop on the stage.
For a child to handle herself so smoothly, untrained and unexperienced, it was so promising in Jerold’s opinion that he arranged to have the girl sign up at his agency the following day. It was during the first month at his agency that Jerold realized how hard Katie’s parents were pushing the girl, a strict routine was wise but one so extreme as forcing her to avoid all social contact was just outrageous and self destructive. Additionally, he discovered the parents were affording their new more lavish (though not superb, but still well off) lifestyle on the winnings of Katie’s splendid success, yet were neglecting putting any aside for Katie herself. It wasn’t rare, sometimes the sudden increase in money took the parents by surprise and they often felt their child was young and didn’t need the money, most kids wouldn’t even know what to do with it. But they should at least put some aside, it was after all Katie’s money, like most of the girls Jerold had, she was being deprived of her hard earned rewards.
By thirteen Katie spent more time at the Viper lounge then with her parents, starring in her first movie just after her thirteenth birthday. It was a fantasy movie, she was the daughter of a great King, her mother was from the elvish blood line so they needed a child of exceptional beauty, and Jerold made sure Katie was first in line for the role. It was highly popular, so from there Katie’s fame had expanded into the movie realm, she was still a popular model, but was earning more money from appearances in movies. Able to act any part she was given, she also was easy to handle, not complaining or demanding for things. At fourteen Jerold created Katie’s own personal account, in which all her money was put from then on, a fact that Katie’s parents protested to most fiercely, a fact that upset the young movie star who was realizing how important the money she was earning had become to her parents, too important. Katie refused to give access of her account to them, which quickly lead to her parents spiteful nature, always saying Katie could afford things and that they didn’t need to buy her anything any more. The constant comments of ‘after all we’ve done for you’ wore the girl down to a point where she now lives at the Viper Club with her other friends, Jerold has unofficially become her guardian.
The last two years have been highly successful for Katie, who additionally works at one of Viper’s business’s, a popular place called Nova Café. Her parents have become more warm towards her, but generally are asking for things, giving Katie the impression they are still only seeing her as a source of profit or rewards instead of as their daughter. On her sixteenth birthday Katie had gotten tattoos across her back and on her shoulders, this wasn’t any sort of rebellion, Katie wanted them, so she asked if she could have them, although Jerold warned her that it may have some set backs in the future, he said it was up to her, after all, she could always get them removed at a later date. Since then Katie’s been fond of clothing that shows off her tattoos, but she does try and dress sensibly as well, usually Katie hangs out at the Viper Lounge or Nova café, otherwise she is out with her friends or making new friends, something she’s pretty good at doing.
Good for you! By the way I was looking at the character sheet and saw your siggy and picture there and they were both very nice.
Aaaand now onto the bio.
I don't know if it's intentional or not but the Viper Club titlewise reminds me of The Viper Room, the club that I believe Johnny Depp had which I found interesting and just wanted to mention.
I don't actually go by kg to measure weight so I'm trusting your judgement on that one, I'm used to pounds personally *makes a note to find a service that translates one system to another*
All in all it looks pretty good to me I only have one nitpicky thing, I'm wondering a little about her time management. Between the acting/singing/modelling plus school and working she seems extremely busy so I'm just wondering if this constant rush workstyle would have an effect on her and how she manages to accomplish so much.
I think that's the only thing I saw though and that's really an opinion matter and not a serious concern so...
*stamps*
I'm also rather curious, not that this has to really do with your bio being stamped, on a personal level about the Nova Cafe but I'm assuming once she's accepted they'll be more about that since I believe this was the establishment to be open for students? Correct me if I'm wrong here.
All in all looks like an interesting character and it will be nice to have an actual place for some students to possibly work and certainly for social gatherings
Re: Katie Brooks - Human
Well I was forty 45-ish a few months back, so I was sorta going on my weight as an example, weight wise with characters I'm horrible and too lazy to go find proper definitions.
oooh.. Viper Room eh? *Doesn't know anything anbout it* Now I'm curious...Now we so need Johnny Depp to be Jerold Whitlock XD
Ah. I didn't mention, but she only goes to school Mondays and Tuesdays. Other days she's a waitress and her acting/singing/modelling usually take place after work or especially on the weekends. And she doesn't spend as much time acting unless she has a movie signed up! Mostly photoshoots are only an hour, so she works with that easily enough.
Yeah! The Nova Cafe is going to be a new popular student attraction, especially designed for people to get their charries to work there. Mutant and non-mutant aike.I figured it would also have a basement level which would be like a more nightcluby bar area, and then the pleasant 'hang out' cafe on the main level that is just ya basic ordinary place. Nice and simple for a get away from the hassels of saving the world XD
. . : : Maybe I'm tired of trying so hard for every single thing I do : : . .
Re: Katie Brooks - Human
Yah I watched some biography thing on Johnny Depp. There was a whole big fuss because River Phoenix died of a drug overdose outside of it. Don't know all the details but it was something like that. Johnny as Jerold *drools*
Okay thanks I was wondering since I think most celeb kids don't go full time or they have a tutor or something, that helps so thanks for the clarification and that sounds good with the time management then
The Cafe sounds great, I'm sure some of my charries will pay a visit once it's up!
