Knight Arrives
(OOC: I think I can post because you did say only 2 admin stamps needed now right?)
Nick Knight passed by the police station, still in the haze he had been in for the past few years. After Nat there had been no life, he had nearly been staked by his own sire and what's more he had wanted to be staked. By now though who knows what had happened to Nat. She's recovered, that much he knew for he had stayed around long enough to know that she was alright. His undead life could not move on though even as he knew hers had. She must have found someone by now, someone interesting. He was probably just a faded memory.
It was strange but somehow he felt for a brief moment as if she was there and Janette too, inside of him urging him to move on. Nick stepped up the front steps of the first building on that block, anything for Natalie and Janette, his two loves. They urged him to open the door and so he did, even walked up to the front counter, still not knowing what the building even was.
"Constable Verner here, you're at the New York district police office. Can I help you Sir?" asked a pleasant looking blonde woman, perhaps just into her forties.
Police station. For the first time in two years Nick felt as close to alive as a vampire could be. This was what they had been asking of him he realised, even if Nat and Janette had been illusions though or part of his mind they had still awakened him from his nightmare. He was free and ready to start over.
"You just did," he said, realising it was true. "I'm Nick. Nick.." What name would he use for this life? What was there left? And yet..Knight hadn't been used up fully. Why couldn't he be Nicholas Knight for one more life? In memory of them, of Nat most of all. He could do something with his life and he would do it for them, for her forgiveness, even if she had already given it to him, even if she had forgotten about him and even if she didn't know he was here.
"Nick Knight," he said decisively and the woman nodded.
"What can we do for you Mr. Knight?" Verner asked.
"I was a detective, homicide mostly in Toronto. I'd like to work here now," Nick told her.
"Okay detective. This could take some time though," the Constable said.
"Time isn't an issue. I'll wait," Nick said. He's just spent two years wandering, what was another few days, weeks, even months? The only problem with time was that there was too much of it.
*Silently the vamps made it out of the sewer ways in the basement of the department. Angel pats down his leather coat, glade that they didn't have sewer smell over their clothes. He had to give the technology age one thing...it was able to keep certain areas cleaner then a few decades ago.
He glanced over to the stair way, then to the door, light could be seen leaking in under the door that lead outside. Carefully the vamps made their way across the room, climbing the stairs to get to the other door leading into the department, avoiding any beams of light that entered the dimmly light room.
Slowly Angel pushed open the door, his eyes squinting as artificial light nearly blinded him for the moment, he closed the door partly and blinked. Soon the bright lights in his eyes faded and he could see clearly again...maybe he and Spike should use their lights more often to get used to the brightness...
Clearing his throat he heads out into the corridor..*
Cleaner:"Hey! Get outta there!"
*Spinning about Angel sees a cleaner heading towards them, quickly he replies*
Angel:"Sorry, we where looking for Lt.Brian Sisko.."
Cleaner:"Well he ain't down there in the storage room! Why not try reception, they'll tell you where his real office is."
*Angel took a few steps back as he moved away from the cleaner*
Angel:"We'll try the reception desk then!"
*He called out and then turned and walked off, easily over hearing the cleaner insulting them under his breath. Angel looked over at Spike, holding eye contact for a moment before looking ahead again. Sure he didn't say anything...but both knew a few hundred years ago no human ever dared speak to them like that...
But then again Angel didn't want people to be terrified of him, so it was a lose-lose situation, respect was so hard to get from people of this time...in generations long past one would only need to help a lady from a cart to be considered a gentleman. Now? You be polite to people and they assume you're up to no good*
Angel:"..Wait.."
*He paused, taking another sniff of the air*
Angel:"Can you smell that?"
*When out in crowded places Angel seemed to try and avoid using the word 'Vampire', but it wasn't only his scent Angel was picking up...vampires knew when other vampires where around.
He looked over at Spike, a questioning look in his eyes, as if asking how they should deal with this current situation...
Angel doesn't wait to think things over, instead he moves over to the desk, resting his elbow on the top of the counter with his body facing Nick, an almost mocking, all knowing smile across his face. Still smiling, Angel asks the lady behind the counter a question, yet his eyes remain focused on the vampire*
Angel:"My friend and I are looking for Lt.Brian Sisko."
Verner:"..He's really busy..have you got an appointment?"
Angel:"Oh we're old friends....he'll see us."
*Giving a worried glance over into the direction of Sisko's office, she picked up the phone and relayed the message of his 2 visitors.
Spike had often seen Angelus smile that exact same smile Angel had on his face, always just before he thought something interesting was going to happen, something challenging yet entertaining at the same time...and 3 vampires in the police department ought to prove interesting*
Re: Knight Arrives
Nick Knight sat straight up even before Spike and Angel entered. He smelt their scent, a skill he hadn't lost over the years especially with Janette and Lacroix having been so close. It said one thing, vampires as in more than one.
When the bleached blonde and a dark haired man entered Nick knew instantly that this wasn't just a coincidence. These had to be the vampires in question. He kept alert, not wanting to give himself away but ready to go into action if the vampires even looked at him the wrong way or took a step towards any human in the building.
His eyes met their eyes, almost challenging them to try anything. There were no secrets for each vampire knew the others, only the humans were excluded and Nick would make sure it stayed that way.
Re: Knight Arrives
*They locked eyes for a moment, both studying the other, waiting for whatever might come next. But Angel's attention was pulled away from the vampire by Spike's whisper*
Spike:"Angel.."
*The soulled vampire tore his eyes from the stranger, looking over at Spike, then following the direction his eyes where looking...Brian Sisko...and he didn't look like he was planning on hanging around for a chat either*
Angel:"Why must they always run?"
*He mumbled, Spike shifted about uncomfortably, Brian Sisko was human, so Spike couldn't hurt him, and he couldn't try and scare him with all these police officers around.
Looking back at Angel, Spike looked over at Nick, smiled, then quickly moved off towards the direction Brian was trying to make his escape.
Angel grinned over at Nick to stop him fron being able to go after Spike, he holds out his hand with another mocking grin*
*The tone of his voice sounded as if he was giving the other vampire a warning, which is exactly what he was doing, although Angelus was far more famous then Angel was in the underworld, Angel was still well known....being a vampire with a soul and all.
Angel was well known...and also well hated, after all, a vampire that kills vampires and other demons is can be considered a traitor to the underworld.
But Angel knew that no matter how much demonic creatures hated him, any who knew him still feared him...sure he had a soul, but he was still an ancient vampire.
He kept his hand out stretched, not caring really if the vampire took it or not, but if he did, that would mean he wasn't looking for trouble...which was good.
Meanwhile Spike had cornered Brian and was talking with him, Brian indeed looked very pale...*
Re: Knight Arrives
Nick sucked in an uneeded breath.
"Angel, the one with a soul," he said quietly so that only vampire hearing like their own could pick up the whispered comment.
Knight took Angel's outstretched hand, a little hesitantly. After all was this truly Angel? He'd heard stories of both Angelus and Angel. Even with his travels though they hadn't been in the same place at the same time, even over 800 years.
"Nick Knight," he said, quite sure that the other vampire hadn't heard of him. Sure he was different from others, had decided not to kill and was old enough. Nick had a different name for each life though, never remaining the same. Only if Angel knew Lacroix or perhaps Janette, both older than he, could the ancient vampire have heard of him.
Besides that when you live a police detective life battling mostly the regular kind of scum and not the horned demon kind, not to mention doing it in Canada, you didn't get noticed much.
"If you're still Angel I'm on your side," he whispered again, even quieter than before. This was some risk he was taking now, he'd been trying to hide from his vampiric nature but it wasn't possible. It wasn't something one could easily escape.
He'd taken the first step. The only question remaining was what did Angel think of the situation and how would he react? There was also the matter of the bleached vampire whoever he was. That was a question Nick decided to save though. Introductions were enough for the moment.
Re: Knight Arrives
*Glancing down at their hands as Nick hesitantly took it, Angel's smile seemed to become more relaxed, fully aware the vampire knew who he was now*
Angel:"Don't worry about him.."
*Angel replied to the look Nick gave Spike as he looked over towards the bleached vampire*
Angel:"He's harmless."
*Soon enough Spike had returned to Angel's side, peering over his shoulder and studying the stranger.
Spike:"The graveyard."
*Spike whispered silently to Angel, informing him of Draven's where abouts, Angel only gave a nod, then looked over towards Brian as he slithered his way quickly back into his office*
Angel:"I'd watch out for that one."
*He informed Nick as looks back over to the new found vamp*
Angel:"Here."
*Holding out a card with the words Renaissance Hotel, it's address, plus Angel's mobile number, the soulled vamp holds it out*
Angel:"Big hotel, can't miss it."
*He places the card into Nicks hands*
Angel:"Let's get going Spike."
*The bleached vampire waited for a moment, but nodded in agreement and turned to head off for the storage room once more, Angel following closely behind*
Re: Knight Arrives
Nick glanced down at the card in his hand with a slightly questionning glance.
A card. What did this really mean though? Did the older vampire want Nick to help him with whatever he was doing here? It looked more like helping than anything else and Nick wondered if this was his calling, if this what Janette and Nat would have wanted.
He remembered the constable at the front desk and said, "Can I call the station at some point later in the week perhaps about helping?"
She nodded. "I'll have to talk to Lieutenant Rowan but you're certainly welcome to call."
"Thank you," Nick said and turned. He left the building and turned into a deserted alley before becoming a bat and flying off to the Hotel Angel had mentionned to wait for him.
(OOC: I'll post there with Nick once you've come back, Loza's back and you return to the hotel)
