Lessons are all I have.
The rather plain girl wore her mousy brown hair pulled back into a plat, her back was bent over the book she was reading. There was another pile of books and folders all of various subjects next to her and a large black shoulder bag that lay on the floor beside her desk showed the fact that there were more in her bag.

In a way the healing mutant had been cursed, with little beauty and a lot of intelegance, two things guarenteed for most blokes to run a mile. She didn't have a really fantasic personality either, she was one of those people you don't notice has left a room .... because you didn't notice she'd even entered it.

She'd learnt at high school that she was the type of person that other people either ignore or pick on and making herself as invisible as possible and just trying to get through each day. As a result of this she didn't have brilliant communication skills with people, it wasn't that she didn't have the skills she just found it hard.

At the moment she was trying to write a history paper, sitting in her usual seat at the front of class but a little to the left. She could hear people behind her whispering to their freinds, knowing they'd be passing each other notes or gossiping about what what they did over the weekend.

Paige closed the heavy book and pulled another towards her, opening it to the index at the back and then scanning down to find the word she wanted. She then flipped to the right page and settled down to work. Most people had given up doing much work now since it wasn't long till the holidays but it didn't really make much difference to Paige since she had no one to talk to anyway.

She'd been here a few months now, but for all the school cared she might as well not be there. It wasn't that she really needed people but she thought it might be nice to have friends or even a friend, someone to talk to and do homework together. It wasn't that she was really unpopular, people didn't dislike her, they'd smile at her in the corridor but then they tended to forget about her. She wasn't picked last in sports but she certainly wasn't picked first.

Her eyes seemed to become distracted from the books in front of her, her eyes sneeking around the look at the back of the classroom. He was here today, he often wasn't, Max, even despite the way he acted towards some people in the school she couldn't help being attracted to him. He was sitting talking to one of his friends, laughing about something, she watched his blonde messy hair. She looked back down at her books, she was so sure it was just a front, his bullying towards other people deep inside she knew they must be another side to him. If he just gave her a chance she knew she could help him. He'd never been outright nasty to her, infact it was a possibility he wasn't even aware she existed, she wasn't exactly obvious in her glances towards him either. She tended to wander down corridors after him or make sure she went for dinner around the same time as him.

She looked down at the page of neat writing she'd done, she always did her work and it was always correct and to a high standard. That was mainly because she'd spend a lot of her evenings in her room working, sometimes she'd even imagine she had people over for study groups like she'd seen on the TV.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
Everyone had heard now about Riley arriving and being sent straight to the medical room, it was now the talk of Max's group, one of the girls having seen Riley being half dragged half carried from a car. Anything involving something bad about Riley, Connor of one or two others that Max had a lot of fights with tended to get him rather excited. One of his friends made a rather snide comment which had caused Max to laugh out, he didn't really care if he got into trouble, so when the teacher glared at them all Max did was choke back his laughter a little.

If there was one thing the telepathic mutant found rather annoying was the fact Max tended not to show up most of the time and when he did he caused a lot of disturbance. Jean Summer's eyes turned away from the trouble maker and down at her papers, this wasn't one of her normal classes, they had a substitute but he had gotten ill and now the X-Men where taking turns and often shifting between classes.

"Up the front Max." Using her mind Jean lifted his books and hovered them up to one of the front desks, it was the only time he ever did any work really, but the fact it was the holidays soon made him more fidgety then normal. With a rather dramatic groan, Max then laughed with his friends as Tony made a comment that slipped by unnheard by most, and ignored by Jean who's mind had caught what he had said. Getting up, Max walked down towards the front desk, giving on of the boys a flick in the back of his head which had caused Heath to glare up at Max before staring down at his book, feircly attempting to try and read since he was still learning and Riley had been busy with his depression so Heath hadn't had much time to practice his reading and writing. But he still attended the classes just so he could get used to things and he picked up some knowledge from what they'd say...

"Figured out how to use a toaster yet?" Max had twisted his body to stare at Heath behind him but the former jousting champion simply glared as he kept his eyes down on the page.

"Max." Jean's stern voice caused Max to chukle slightly and stare down at his books in front of him, picking up his pen and slowly after a moment of bordem, he began doodling different shapes onto the page he had opened a while ago that still remained qithout any written words.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
"Up the front Max." Paige was sure her heart stopped beating in her chest for a moment even if it returned pounding in her ears the next second. She still looked like she was working but her pen wasn't moving over her books anymore and her eyes weren't scanning the pages of her text book for revent passages. He was going to come and sit near her? She closed her eyes and glupped slightly knowing she needn't really bother getting flustered since he wouldn't even notice her sitting there.

It always seems like that, good girls like bad boys, she knew her parents probably wouldn't approve of him but there was no chance in the world that anything would happen between the two of them, they both moved in very different circles. She felt her cheeks beginning to flush red at the thought of Max ... up here ... at her end of the classroom. She'd never thought past him taking hold of her hand, or maybe even kiss her, she woudn't dare think about something like sleeping with him. She'd been brought up with parents who thought you should only give yourself to the man you marry.

She looked up as she caught the sight of Max's books land on the table beside her, she drew her breath in sharply and looked more determindly down at her books. It wasn't as if he was sitting there of his own choice

"Figured out how to use a toaster yet?" She glanced around, everyone else was looking at him so she felt justified in doing the same. She was sure he was just missunderstood, he just needed someone like her to listen to him for a bit and he'd see the error of his ways. Her thought showed just how ignorant she was, she didn't understand that sometimes being dominant and pushing others around can be a personality for someone. There were people out there who liked to make others suffer.

She watched him draw over his paper for a moment before she looked back at her own work, putting paper to pen again, trying to concentrate and not to keep glancing over at him all the time.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
A light tapping of his pen was heard and when Jean cleared her throat some of the kids snicked at the expression Max had given her in reply. But he threw down the pen and looking extremely bored, sighed and placed his elbows on the desk, resting the palms of his hands on his cheeks and then lowering his head until his hands where in his now messier looking hair. The only reason he came was because they where complaining all the time that he wasn't doing well in his studies. They'd complain to his parents and his dad would yell at him and his mother would then give 'The Chadstones are never failures' speech.

But classes where soooo boring, he did well in hands on things.. not just in the bedroom, but in classes, like woodworks, and metal works, and physical training classes. Max looked off to the side, staring at a boy who had his pen fiercly scratching away across his paper.

"Surrounded by geeks and freaks." He grumbled, though he didn't have a thing against mutants at all, he considered anyone who would spend every hour awake studying as a 'freak'. Turning his attention over to the other person on his other side, Max stared over at something who he assumed was new. His eyes dropping down to her bag and then up at her again, giving a smirk as he chuckled at the sight of her seeming to be doing work.

"Another Bookworm in the class, that's exactly what we need." Two of his friends at the back could be heard trying to holding back their laughter, those two laughing at basically anything he says. Returning his attentions back down to his doodeling, Max, waited impatiently for the class to end, glances up at the clock that only seemed to grow slower as it came closer to the ending of their class. There was a loud groan and the words 'Finally' from Max as they where allowed to leave, his voice easily heard over the rush of students packing and hurrying to the door for their break, most heading towards the Rec Room eagerly.

Most of the class hovered outside in the hall for a moment, chatting eagerly about the weekend and what plans they have for later that night. Max stared down at his light grey shirt, his fingers picking off something from the large dark numbers '59' on the front, his jeans and black belt quickly getting fiddled with as well as he seemed to ignore what every one about him was saying.. like he cared what they did on the weekend. His attention lifted up towards Paige after a moment of thought, he wasn't able to go out unless he had finished his assignment for History tomorrow that was a while overdue now, otherwise his father would get another call and then they'd get on his back again.

"Hey! Bookworm!" His voice called out over the chatter of his friends as he moved past them, causing some surprised eyes to stare over at him and the other girl but slowly most of them returned to focusing on their own group and discussion. Max often got other kids to do his important assignments, he never had the time and anyway, even if he did try and do it himself he didn't know most of the answers because he didn't have the notes or proper information. So he was always keeping his eyes open for geeks and such who would be able to do something for him... being a girl made him pick Paige over the other three boys in the class who have done his work in the past.

The tall boy seemed to corner the younger girl against the wall in the hall, Max never introduced himself, he was too used to others already knowing him, so why waste his breath? But he'd also never ask names, normally calling them by nicknames or such, unless of course he was at a bar, or nightclub, he would give proper introductions then. Max's arm reached for the wall, effectivly blocking off them and the rest of the lingering students who where slowly decreasing in numbers. Also meaning he was leaning towards Paige, but that's how he talked to most of the girls when he was alone with them.

"Hey, you look like a smart girl, always in class aren't you? So you'd have all the notes? Well.. if you do this tiny favor for me, help me out with my assignment, and.. we'll see what I can do for you." Normally with the boys he'd threaten them if they dared do a poor job on his assignment, if he got too low a mark, since he didn't care of some questions where wrong, but if they did too many wrong, it meant they did it on purpose and Max would not be very pleased with them. But with girls he never scared them, not with threats anyway, some would get nervous with his temper or how he always seems to get into fights with people, but it's not like he did that intentionally just to scare them. Any girl who he could befriend was a possible companion for one of those lonely nights he was unable to find anyone else. He had been going out with Amber last week, but was all snobby so he had lost interest in her rather instantly after he had slept with her on the third night.

That was something about Max, he could become obsessed with one girl, but then as soon as she sleeps with him he'd be off looking for another. Some of his closer female friends had thought that's just because he hasn't found the right one, the guys think its because he just wants to sleep with as many woman as possible, maybe it is a little of both, but there is another reason that even Max himself doesn't know, but he does have a long time ahead of him to figure it out. But then again, everyone has things they do for reasons they aren't fully sure of, everyone needs time to grow up and understand things, even a school bully like Max.

He had managed to put on a rather charmingly saducing smile and look in his eyes as his hand left the wall to allow his fingers to very lightly brush over her shoulder as if there was dirt there, his eyes watching her shoulder for a moment until his hand returned to the wall and his eyes glanced back up at her. There wasn't anything there, Max just had a habit of using any excuse to touch a girl, it normally started to break down the barriers between him and them, making him feel closer to them then if he had just stood a meter off and given them their personal space.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
It was really hard to concentrate with him sitting right next to her. She'd never really had a crush on a boy before, sure there had been people she'd quite liked but no one like him. She wasnt even sure what it was about him that attracted her to him .... maybe it was the exubernce for life he seemed to have that she didn't seem to be able to find in herself. More than that she wasn't sure how to act around him, she wasn't used to her body acting like this to people and she found it all rather embaressing. She didn't have any friends to talk to this about and she got all embaressed when she told her mum she liked someone. Her mother had started asking loads of questions and most of them Paige hadn't wanted to answer so she'd steered clear of the boy topics with her mum for a while.

"Surrounded by geeks and freaks." She saw him toss his pen down upon his piece of paper .... she wondered what catogary she fell in to his eyes or maybe she was put in both. She looked down at her work and turned the page of her text book. She wasn't sure why she even bothered thinking about him, it wasn't as if he'd even realise she was alive.

"Another Bookworm in the class, that's exactly what we need." It took a moment for her pale green eyes to lift to look over at him, it was another second before she registered the fact that he was talking to her. She blinked at him, she should have been upset at the comment but since she liked him she'd find almost any things to excuse his behaviour not only towards him but towards other people. He just didn't know her, if he knew her properly he wouldn't say she was a bookworm, it was just she didn't really have anything else to do with her time. She looked back down at her books and tired to concentrate on her essay. Did that mean he'd like her more if she didn't have so many books ... but wasn't it a good thing to learn. She really wanted to get good grades then she could be a nurse, she'd wanted to be one since she found out she was a healing mutant, she could think of nothing better than spending her life helping people.

When the class was dismissed she packed up her things quickly, she wanted to pop down to the library and renew a book. She slipped out of the door, trying to make her way through the crowd of people. She sometimes wished she had someone to linger outside the classrooms and talk to, her eyes fell upon a couple of girls who were nattering away to each other. She felt a small tendril of jelousy run through at the thought that it wasn't fair, she was a good person yet people didn't want to talk to her. The thought of actually going over and talking to someone, or making an effort was terrifiying to her. It was more than possible that if she'd made an effort people would have realised she was around and begun to talk to her, but she always got so shy around people. Everyone at her old school seemed to think she was a freak because of her powers, yet when they were hurt she was the one they came to. She used to sit in the nurses office at lunches .... maybe beast would welcome her help here. She liked the thought that she was helping people even if it did hurt her in return, no one knew about that though not even her parents, she knew they'd be angry if they knew she was healing other people yet hurting herself at the same time. She wasn't one to complain either since it only hurt for a short while.

"Hey! Bookworm!" She had no reason to think he was talking to her so she didn't turn around to see who it was had called her. She managed to squeeze past group of boys who seemed to be throwing their weight around, hugging her books close to her front incase any of them bashed into her.

Suddenly Max was in front of her, she tired to step around him, thinking that she'd got in his way, afterall that's what she did, she was always stepping out of the way of others. He moved a little to block her escape then turned his body so she was forced to stand with her back against the wall. Had she done something wrong ....

His arm was suddenly resting against the wall as his larger figure loomed over her, she hadn't realised just how tall he was before now. Her eyes darted nervously around, at the floor, other people, his chest and for a split second his eyes before she looked away again. There wasn't much distance between the two of them, she wasn't sure a man had ever stood this close to her before, she knew no one had stood like this with her. Her heart seemed to be beating rather irradically in her chest. He looked quite a bit older than her as well, she was only sixteen and he was nineteen and even though there was a gap in their ages she was still doing better at him at school. She pulled her books a little closer to her as if worried he might throw them aside and pull her into his arms.

"Hey, you look like a smart girl, always in class aren't you? So you'd have all the notes? Well.. if you do this tiny favor for me, help me out with my assignment, and.. we'll see what I can do for you." Of course she was always in class .... what else was she going to do? She looked at her folder as he talked about her notes. She couldn't believe he was actually standing here talking to her. Her eyes darted back to his face for an instant as he asked her to do a favour. She didn't really understand what he meant by seeing what he could do for her, but for some reason a small tingle ran down her spine.

She seemed to stop breathing for an instant as his hand reached out towards her, brushing over her shoulder, her eyes glanced rather nervously down at his hand and then her rather plain little face lifted to look over at his face. Her body seeming to recoil as much as it could away from his touch, no one had ever touched her like that. It probably showed in every line of her body, in the expression in her eyes, especially to someone as experienced as Max.

'Ummm.' she stammered looking down at the floor, she wasn't sure how to talk to people, even less how to talk to a boy and a boy she liked more than that. 'I .... you want me to lend you my notes?' She looked at her folder she was clutching against her front. 'I didn't think we had an assignment. I only handed one in on friday.' Her face flushed faintly pink, her eyes not looking up at him again, but down at his shoes. No one had asked her to do their work before so she miss understood his words, he wanted her to write out his assignment not to just give him her notes

Re: Lessons are all I have.
If there was one thing that worked well with girls who wanted Max's attention, it was when they where shy or played hard to get, after all, it was more fun to work hard for a nights pleasure then just having some girl leap on him.. though he'd never complain.

'Ummm.' There was a charmingly amused smile on his lips, it was fun when they where shy, because it was more of a challenge. He never thought girls would really be that upset if they slept with him and never saw him again, after all, normally they enjoy the night so what's the problem? He just figured some of the girls kicked up a fuss after because they liked the attention people would give them.

'I .... you want me to lend you my notes?' The new kids always seemed so shy, but not many flinched away from his touch, most often they'd be content in allowing him fingers to stroke against them, some even inching forward. Arisa was a little younger then this girl and the shy blue mutant seemed pleased when he gave her attention, even if her half wit friend, fishboy, didn't seem to like the fact.

'I didn't think we had an assignment. I only handed one in on friday.' He grinned, giving an amused, matter of fact sounding tone as if she had found the reason to his delihma.. which she had.

"Exactly, now see, there's my problem, it's late, and that's why you'd be doing me a favor." His hand tapped her lightly on the tip of her nose with the tip of his finger, grinning more. Max had two sides to him, the overly charming guy, and the violent hot tempered one, surprisingly enough it was rare for the girls to see his temper directed towards them, Dawn had been one of the lucky few, and that was because she was a human in a school for 'gifted'.

"Come on Bookworm, please.. help me out here?" His fingers rested on the top of her folders, speaking her nickname without any predijuice, more as if it was a desirable name then a teasing one. Though his reply made it sound as if her just handing him the notes wasn't good enough, there was a call of his name, Max stared over at his two friends, Mark and Tony waving for him to hurry after them.

"Go ahead, catch ya in the Rec Room." Max's attention returned to Paige, his fingers still resting down on the top of her folders very lightly as he waited for her offer to help him. He wouldn't give up on this, the harder she played to get the more determined he'd become for her attention.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
"Exactly, now see, there's my problem, it's late, and that's why you'd be doing me a favor." He was grinning at her, she gulped slightly and for a minute looked as if she might duck under his arm and dash away up the corridor. His finger tapped the end of her nose as if telling her to stay where she was. She really wasn't comfortable him being this close, he was inside her personal space, she just didn't let people this close to her. She liked him yes but she didn't know him and here he was standing right in front of her.

She wished someone would come along and tell her what to do so she didn't stand there looking like some kind of beached fish.

"Exactly, now see, there's my problem, it's late, and that's why you'd be doing me a favor." She under stood that but she wasn't sure exactly what he was asking her to do, she looked down nervously at his hand that was resting upon the top of his books. She didn't know she was treading rather dangerous waters with Max. Since she didn't really know Max or anyone else at the school she didn't know the object of her fancy had such a reputation, she have tried to stop liking him if she'd known that.

"Come on Bookworm, please.. help me out here?" She still didn't really get the idea that he wanted her to do the assignment for her, no one had ever asked her to do their work before so it just didn't occur to her that that might be what he wanted her to do.

'It's Paige.' She said but the tone was too low for him to be able to here, it was really only a movement of her lips and with her head bent it was more than possible he'd not see even that small gesture.

"Go ahead, catch ya in the Rec Room." His freinds moved off down the corridor and Paige suddenly realised they were alone in the corridor. She couldn't help feeling really intimidated by him, she could feel blood rushing to her cheeks because he was standing so close to her.

'I don't understand .... you want my notes?' she looked down at his hand then glanced up quickly at his face. 'Or you want me to help you write it?' She turned a little redder. 'I could do you a draft if you'd like? and then you'd just be able to look up some extra facts to finnish it off.' Her eyes were trained down upon the simple black shoes she was wearing, trying not to imagine what i'd be like for him to lean across and kiss her. The thought further flustered her, her eyes moving away up the deserted corridor. She was being stupid, he was popular and well liked and she .... well she just didn't get to date people like him because people like him didn't even look at people like her.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
'I don't understand .... you want my notes?' Cocking his head slightly to the side, he wanted so much more then just notes from her, his eyes dropping to where the books pressed against her chest, but they quickly flicked back up just in time for her eyes to also glance up at him. It wasn't common for geeks to not understand what he'd want from them (about doing his homework anyway), obviously this girl has had little experience with his type before, but she wasn't unnattractive, not someone he'd brag much about having spent a night with, but still not bad, here, far worse looking girls had bad better social and love lifes.

'Or you want me to help you write it?' ... 'I could do you a draft if you'd like? and then you'd just be able to look up some extra facts to finnish it off.' When her pale eyes dropped away from his, Max found his attention wondering, he was so single minded sometimes that even he found it annoying. After all, how can you play things smart if you're being nagged by urges at the wrong times, he'd probably skip the rest of the day, maybe find Emily and spend an hour or two with her in his room just so later he wouldn't try anything hasty with Paige.

"Yeah.. help me with a draft, that'd be great, I can figure out the rest for sure." After all, he knew where the geeks rooms where, he could swing by their rooms later and get them to jot down the remainder missing info. With a grin brightening his features, Max's hand moving up to the side of her head, his fingers resting on the back, tugged her towawrds him gently as he leaned forward and pressed his lips against her forehead before pulling away instantly and moving down the hall. Raising one of his hands though not staring back at her as he moved off quickly to find Emily who most likely was lingering about the group in the Rec Room,

"Thanks a bunch Gorgeous, you're a life saver! Stop by my room when ya done!" With that, he turned down another hallway, hurrying off before there was any chance of missing Emily, though he could just call her mobile if she was on her way to class, but he loved inviting her to his room personally. She was always more playful when he was there in person, a part of her not really liking the fact someone would call her just to sleep with her, but when they went to her in person it seemed to make all the difference.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
"Yeah.. help me with a draft, that'd be great, I can figure out the rest for sure." Again their definitions of draft differed, she'd meant draft in the sense that he'd sit there and she'd help him look through books and things but he supposed she meant that she'd do the whole thing for him.

Her skin flintched slightly as she felt his hand upon her neck, her eyes dropping to his hand and then flitting nervously to his own blue eyes. What was he doing? She felt colour springing into her cheeks at the contact. Paige pressed herself nervosuly further back against the wall as he leaned in towards her, but he pulled her gently towards him and the next second felt his lips press against her forehead.

"Thanks a bunch Gorgeous, you're a life saver! Stop by my room when ya done!" He said as he pushed himself away from her, making his way down the hall and dissapeared around a corner leaving a rather dazed Paige standing in the hall.

He'd just kissed her forhead and called ... called her gorgeous. No one had ever acted like that around her before or said things like that. Maybe he hadn't meant her when he said gorgeous ... but then there was no one else around for him to be talking to was there. There was a mixed confusion of feelings swirling around inside her but most of them seemed to be good. She was a little afraid though and she wasn't quite sure how to react to what had just happened.

Rather on automatic drive she made her way towards the library, she had a free period so she could work on his assignment now. Her eyes glanced rather nervously back down the corridor in the direction Max had gone in a smile forming upon her lips. He'd asked her to come to his room later as well, her stomach did a little flip and she hugged her books that little bit closer to her chest. Maybe they could be freinds and then perhaps when they knew each other a little better he might even ask her out somewhere. She didn't really get that Max looked at the world in a very different way to her, she'd find it hard to jump into bed with a boy at the drop of a hat where as max didn't think about sleeping with women twice.

She half realised that he was getting her to do his assignement for him, but she was sure there was a good reason he'd not done it ... he hadn't been to many lectures, maybe he'd been sick or something? even though she'd said it was a draft she'd probably end up writing enought to get him a low grade so if he took this work to the other greeks he'd probably end up with a good grade at the end.

ooc: I'm posting for Paige (in the dorms) and I've made Max a dorm spot ... only he's living in the hallways for the minute .... I'm not sure how to move him into the male rooms section. (C I do have my uses at times lol)

Cat: Do you think I should go back?
Nina: Cat.. he's only a man.
Cat: You don't understand...

Re: Lessons are all I have.
Mandi was scared and most definately upset as she came running into the room with tears at her eyes and her symbol brightly glowing. Flames flickked out around her every couple of seconds.

"Someone please help! It's Dad! It's Xavier! He's in his office but he's not moving!" She cried out, distressed.

She didn't know what this room was but she didn't really care either at the moment, terrified that her adoptive father may be dead or something.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
Most of the students had left the history class, two hovering back at their seats since they had detention for not handing in an assignment and where being forced to complete it now under Jean's watchfull gaze.

"Someone please help! It's Dad! It's Xavier! He's in his office but he's not moving!" The distressed calls from the young womans voice rang out loud and clearly, the remaining few in the room all instantly staring up at her, Jean being the only one who approached the elemental mutant. Worry quickly sank onto the telepaths face as the meaning of Mandra's words finally hit her, Jean's eyes snapped over to the students and with a wave of her hand dismissed them from class.

"Speak of this to no one you two!" But even Jean knew the first thing these two would do was gossip about what they had heard with their friends. One hand moved behind Mandi's back while her other one tapped a small round dark silver badge on the left side of her chest, an 'X' symbol engraved into it easily seeing as it lit up red to show both it was working and her team was Red Strike Force.

"Hank, this is Jean, report to Xavier's office immidiatly, something is wrong." There was a an 'affermitive' heard as Beast's reply before her hand tapped the communicator once to turn it off, then again to turn it back on so she could open a new line. "Jarod, this is Jean, report to your fathers office." As Jean hurried down the hall with Mandra, one arm behind Mandi's back to make sure the stressed mutant kept a quick pace.

"Jarod, did you hear me?" Her hand tapped the com-badge to turn it off after there was no reply, her fingers resting lightly against the side of her temple as she tried calling him telepathically, after all, it wouldn't be the first time he accidently forgot his badge in his room.

"Jarod?" There was another worried look on her face as she glanced about, first Rogue and Storm disappear, then Connor complains about his sistems disappearing, too many bad things where happening to be a coincidence.

"Jarod's not replying, but I know he is in the school, maybe he still has his badge with him," There was a pause as her hand tapped the communicator on her chest twice. "Cerebro, locate Jarod Xavier." There was a mechanical voice that replied, very female in tone as it said 'Search in progress.' and a short pause after added 'Institute Hallways, second floor.' Since there where many hallways in the school, Jean looked at Mandra with a very serious expression as the older X-woman thought quickly.

"Something might be wrong, Hank should be with Xavier soon if he isn't already, I'll call the other X-men, Mandra I want you in the War Room with us, something is happening under our noses and we need to get ready and figure out what that is." Jean stopped and looked more softly, even though her face was flooded with worry and concern. "Hank will tell us what's happened with Xavier, as worried as I am about him, there are others in trouble as well and if he isn't able to run the school then it is up to us to run it for him until Hank can figure out what's wrong with the Professor." Mandra looked very upset, Jean wondered if it was perhapes wise to ask for her help, but then again, they needed all the hands they could get and even if she didn't help out much at least she would still be in the loop, Jean made a mental note not to push her into doing anything.

"Will you be ok to meet us in the War Room?" Many times the safty of the school and its students have left the ill hands of the Professor and rested on the shoulders of his X-Men, mostly Jean or Scott, depending on who was around, but with so many X-Men off in other assignments, how where they going to defend themselves against an enemy that they're not even sure exists other then the fact all these small seemingly unrelated things are happening? But Jean knew an attack when she saw one, and it didn't take a genius to figure something was wrong when Xavier is said to be paralyzed. Jean would have to call some of the student teams together to strengthen their numbers.. She only hoped the past few months have been enough to get them at least used to each other. There where complaints that some of them where not getting along with each other and some where having troubles completely trusting each other and their powers.

Re: Lessons are all I have.
When Jean went to touch her, mandra focused on her abilities and forced the flames to be dismissed, not wanting to burn Jean on accident. She was indeed distressed and wished she knew of what may be going on. If anything were to happen to her adoptive father, she wouldn't know what to do. She only had three people in her life and if any of them were to...... No, she didn't want to think about that. She didn't even want to finish that thought that had been forming. Then something else caught her attnetion..... Jean had told Jarod to report to his father's office... Then she had called Jarod Jaros Xavier... Mandi's heart sank for a moment and she was still as she thought.

"Yes... I'll go to the War Room..... But Jean, did you just say Jarod Xavier?.... I didn't think that Jarod was a common name. You're not talking about the same Jarod as I'm thinking of, are you?" She asked, her lips at a slight frown and a little hurt showing in her eyes.

Mandi hadn't known this whole time that Jarod was legally, her brother. Finding that out had broken her heart. She still had no name for how they felt for eachother but..... But she knew that it wasn't supposed to be felt between siblings. Mandi had watched enough television and read enough books to know that. She tried to stop the tears from formming but they still made their way to brim at her eyes. She hoped that Jean nad said soem other last name... That she had heard her wrong or something. Or that Jean wasn't talking about the same Jarod as the one that Mandi felt so much for...

" Jean, please tell me." She asked.

Mandi knew that there was no time to speak to Jarod about this right now but wanted to talk to him later, after all this. She wanted to know why Jarod hadn't told her that he was the son of Xavier, if this was the same Jarod Jean had been just trying to reach.

"Yes... I'll go to the War Room..... But Jean, did you just say Jarod Xavier?.... I didn't think that Jarod was a common name. You're not talking about the same Jarod as I'm thinking of, are you?" There was a little hesitation on Jean's part, the telepath knew that Jarod was close to Mandra, he talk about her often when Jean asks what he has been up to. There was something in Mandra's eyes that told Jean there was a spark of hope inside Mandra that Jarod was not the son of Xavier.. The motherly instinct was kicking in for Jean as Mandra's eyes begin to swell with tears, maybe they shouldn't talk about this now..

"Jean, please tell me." With a thoughtful little smile that tried to tug in the corners of her lips, trying to show Mandra that everything was alright. There was a definite feel of helplessness for a moment as Jean stared down the hall and wondered if Mandra deserved any further hurt in her life.

"Jarod never mentioned he was the Professor's son?" It wouldn't be hard for that to happen Jean had to admit, Jarod didn't talk much about things unless someone brought up the subject or asked him a question. "I'm sorry Mandra, but I should get moving, I'll meet you again in the War Room." The fiery red head turned her face away from Mandra for a moment before trying to offer a comforting smile, everyone was only now getting used to the idea of her being Xavier's adopted daughter, so Jean can see what was upseting her about Jarod being his son. Hurrying down the hall, Jean made her way towards where Cerebro had indicated was the direction Jarod was in.
