Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter
Aisha Munroe fiddled with her long dark locks, twirling them around her finger as she usually did when in thought. It was a bad habit and one she had become aware of recently yet she couldn't seem to quit doing it, old habits die hard she guessed. On the brighter side she had at least succeeded in no longer chewing on the ends of her hair, a particularly bad habit she had picked up as a young girl.
She held up one outfit then another, they were the only two she owned as it was. After all when one gets pulled through to another dimension she doesn't always have time to pack, as was the problem in Rayne's case.
She had intended to go shopping later that week, a few of the students had offered and were being very kind to her in general. She still didn't feel at home though and how could she? All of a sudden everything she had ever known was gone and all that she had forsaken was here. Here she could feel the sun, something she still marveled at even a few weeks later. Aisha had spent full days under the beating sun earlier in the week and even when it tried to disappear behind a cloud she gently coaxed it out with her warm mood.
In fact there was only one thing imperfect in this world, that being that she was still too shy and insecure to actually talk to the woman who had been her mother in another world. It was strange, under Drian's guidance she had learned independance, confidence and how to fight yet now she seemed that same fourteen year old who had been frightened of the very world she lived in and almost painfully shy. She didn't even think Ororo knew that her other self's daughter existed and why should she? It wasn't as if a news briefing had gone around the school. No she wouldn't know unless Aisha found some way to tell her.
She wanted to, she really did but it seemed to very hard. After all how did you go about telling someone you were their daughter from a hell dimension? Most people weren't faced with that problem. With a sigh of longing and almost disgust at herself for not having the courage to talk to the weather mutant Aisha plopped down on her bed, looking through a magazine Tess had kindly given her to illustrate what kinds of things she'd find on the shopping trip. Maybe one day she'd be able to tell Storm the truth. For the moment it seemed she'd have to make do with magazines and other perks of this world.
(OOC: um... IMO, Storm still doesn't know that Rayne is her daughter, right? Just wanna make sure before thinking about an explanation and such for her coming to this room.
Sorry, this is gonna delay the post ) Life can be like a stone thrown in the sea. It creates waves, maybe changing something, maybe not, but no matter what it causes, every single wave will disappear into nowhere...
Re: Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter
OOC: Whoa! I had totally forgotten about that and was't sure if she had figured it out over the week. Well then I may have to revise my post. Hey no worries about delay, I have several characters so no worries at all about it taking awhile, I have others to keep me busy. Yah once I'm back home again I'll look my post over and see if I need to change anything and then you can post. Thanks for the reminder!
(OOC: well, I think Storm wouldn't have like... ignored Rayne knowing she was her AU daughter. so not knowing the truth would make more sense, I guess.... just gimme a yell when you're done, will ya? )

(OOC: whuah! *falls from his chair* that wasn't meant literally! *struggles to get up again* )
It was just then that a knocking occured at Aisha's door. No demanding, severe one, more like a friendly hello but asking for attention.
"Rayne? This is Storm; may I come in?"
For a moment, Ororo had considered announcing herself with her normal name uncertain whether the young other worlder would remember it, she chose to use her code name.
Patiently waiting for the girl's reply, the weather witch let her gaze wander the Institute's corridors. Due to the wonderful weather, hardly anyone was inside but strolling around enjoying the considerably warm day.
She herself had spent some hours at the pool sunbathing like so many others were doing. After a little chat with Aurora, however, the GSF's leader had decided to come here; there was something, she wanted to ask...

Re: Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter
Aisha jumped at the knocking sound. She had been so absorbed in her thoughts (okay and in the cute guy on page seven) that she hadn't even heard the footsteps approaching. It came as even more of a shock as the knocker announced herself as Storm.
It was one remarkable coincidence that she happened to show up now, just as Aisha's thoughts had been flitting back and forth on the subject of how to talk to Ororo. It seemed that whatever was watching over her wasn't a patient creature and wasn't content to wait for her to get up her courage and actually talk to Storm.
Becoming aware that Storm was waiting for a reply Aisha closed her magazine and sat cross legged on the bed, straightening her hair although some strands never seemed to straighten. Perhaps it was memories of her youth but she liked to please people and especially her mother. She had anyway, now she was content to settle for anything so long as it wasn't disgust or horror.
"It's open, you can come right in," Aisha called loudly enough to be heard and as she did her heart fluttered slightly in her chest, beating rapidly. She knew this would be one of those moments in time that would stay with her forever and one that could never be redone or relived if it didn't go well. Aisha hoped more than anything this would be a pleasant memory and she steeled herself, trying to appear casual as the door creaked and began to swing open.
Re: Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter"Hello"
Ororo said with a warm smile closing the door behind her. She wore a white bikini which contrasted with her chocolate brown skin and was only partially covered by a African shawl of an ocher kind of yellow-brownish color around her hips.
Although this outfit of hers didn't actually suit the surroundings, the former weather goddess moved with a graceful self-confidence which made her even more beautiful.
"I was talking to Circe outside and she informed me about your plans of going on a shopping tour..."
she began seeming to be a little embarrassed as she went on explaining her reason for coming
"... so I wanted to ask you whether you would mind if I joined in. I have hardly ever left the Institute for reasons other than missions lately"
The windrider gave a soft chuckle. "My apologies, this must sound rather strange to you, I guess... it's just that I simply don't like to go somewhere alone; feel free to decline though, I won't take it personal"
Before Aisha could reply, a thought occured to Storm. "Oh and before I forget about it, in case you don't know yet: You have officially been made a member of the X-Men Silver Strike Force. Rogue, your teamleader, might hold a training session soon, however, it is you decision whether you want to be on a team at all"
Mentioning this, the whitehaired mutant made a mental note to announce a meeting for her team soon as well.

Re: Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter
Aisha's heart jumped a little as Storm entered and spoke to her but her mind changed directions, distracting her from the obvious thoughts of 'mother' for a moment when her team was mentionned.
"That sounds great, I actually had kinda wanted to be on a team, it feels weird to be here and yet not being doing something. In Lost Angels..well things were different but we helped people. I guess I'd feel strange if I didn't, like a chunk of my life was taken away," Aisha said, trying to explain her feelings yet not managing to put what she felt into complete sentences that meant something.
"Is Drian on a team? Um well I guess to you he'd be Prometheus," Aisha added quickly, realizing that the weather mutant wouldn't know her brother figure by name. Few really did.
Getting back to Storm's original request though Aisha didn't even have to think. Of course she wanted to spend time with her alternate universe mother, even if Storm didn't realize that she was with her daughter the entire time. Besides if things went well maybe she'd be able to tell Ororo the truth without feeling shy or stupid.
"I'd like that," Aisha replied after a moment with a flicker of a smile lighting her pretty features. She hoped secretly that the weather mutant would like to spend time with her too. Plud with Drian retreating more and more into his mind she felt a little abandoned, even with her several new friends. She could definetly do with a change of company and some family time.
Re: Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter
Storm smiled nodding lightly. "Yes, I can fully understand that. I cannot be anywhere for a longer period of time without having anything to do as well.
You won't have to change your habits; Goddess knows helping people is one of our main activities"
"Is Drian on a team? Um well I guess to you he'd be Prometheus"
The white-haired X-Woman thought for a moment recalling the modified team lists the Professor had handed out earlier.
"I believe Prometheus has been assigned to Rogue's Silver Strike Force... like you yourself"
, Storm said with a smile guessing the young man was someone special for Rayne.
After Aisha had "allowed" Storm to join in, the weather controlling mutant went back to the door again.
"Thank you. I'm sure it will be fun"
Another pleasant smile lightened her face hoping this girl who had been thrown into an alien world would be able to become a part of the X-Men family quickly.
"Well, see you then.. and keep an eye open for Silver Strike Force announcements"
, she said kindly and silently closed the door behind her.

Re: Like Mother, like Alternate Universe Daughter
(OOC: Hey don't worry about it, length doesn't bother me and neither does wait since I've been busy too.
**grimaces at being on the impossible to prove side of a law case and one that I feel strongly about. Grrr he was innocent, I'm 100% sure and I have to prove him guilty!!! Darn Law!**
Just one problem Storm, Prometheus and Aisha are on the same team, they are both on Silver Strike Focre, Rogue's Team. Would you mind editing your post just to revise it and state the correct teams? Thanks and it's great to see you back again!)
As Storm thought, preparing to tell her which team Drian had been placed on Aisha sat tensely. She had come to care for him as a brother and couldn't bear being seperated from him. The week or so they had spent apart was all that she could bear.
Aisha let out a breath she hadn't known she had been holding as Storm informed her that Prometheus had been placed on her team and for a moment Aisha couldn't help but wonder if the Professor had had a hand in the seemingly strange coincidence of both new mutants being placed on a team.
As Storm left she looked almost radiant with a pleasant smile alighting her face. Suddenly Aisha knew where she had gotten her own lighting smile from and she felt a slight sense of sadness and her eyes began to grow moist with uncried tears.
"Thanks, I will," Aisha managed to call softly after the weather mutant. She had been about to shut her door behind her and listen to some of the interesting music this universe provided when she was interuptted briefly by a boy she didn't recognise.
He seemed instantly likeable with a mop of hair atop his head and a look of slight puzzlement on his face.
"Excuse me? Did you need anything?" Aisha asked quietly.
He turned and noticed her for the first time, thinking just a moment before speaking in clear and emphasised words, the sort of speech a voice coach would love. "Thanks, I'm actually looking for the Professor. I'm suposed to see him about a student team.." he said trailing off a little as he glanced at the girl to see if she had any idea what he was talking about.
"Oh!" Aisha brightened visibly. "It's not far actually, um..hold on I have a map. I'm new here too," she said with a warming smile.
"Great," Kalan said a moment later as he took the map from her. It was undoubtedly a big help.
"Hey if you ever need anything else drop by," the weather mutant said in a friendly tone and Kalan smiled slightly at her. Everyone seemed so friendly here he couldn't help but feel somewhat at home.
"I'm Aisha by the way, Aisha Munroe," she said before he left and he thought about the name for a second. It sounded awfully familiar. There was a slight look of tension that crossed Aisha's face though as he paused and thought so Kalan decided against pushing the issue. He'd look into it before bringing up anything she didn't want to hear.
"Kalan Townsend," he replied. There was a moment's pause before Kalan gestured towards the hall. "I should probably go," he stated, beginning to back up.
"Right, sorry to keep you," Aisha replied with a slight flush. She had been lost in her own thoughts, thinking about her mother yet again but also of her friends here and mainly of Drian.
Kalan shrugged indicating it wasn't a problem then started walking towards the Office. "Bye," he said and Aisha was left to sample music and muse about the possibility of a new friend.
