March 17: Early Morning Routine
Auron's hands circled around the warm cup of coffee, lifting it up to his mouth and taking a slow, grateful sip of the warm drink. It was still relatively early, being ten in the morning. Though, in this world, most days started at nine. Auron's mind drifted over memories from this week, memories that were mostly made from walking into various places with a resume, and being told that no where was really hiring.

His mind, however, would constantly drift back a few months. No matter how hard he tried to concentrate on present events, he constantly found himself thinking about that incident a few months ago. The one where his powers showed themselves and the greatest tragedy of his life had occurred. Everything was tossed into the air on that day. He picked the mug of coffee up once more, taking another light sip from it.

The rain made a light tingling sound on the roof of the quaint coffee shop, which was, for the most part, empty at this time of day. Auron's eyes stared out into the cold morning air, watching some people run for cover, while others huddled together under umbrellas. Personally, he wasn't much of a fan of the rain. To him, it was like a constant attack of small needles, prickling at his skin. Sure, if he concentrated, it didn't bother him too much.

Another sigh was heard as he picked the mug up once more. Truth be told, Auron was afraid. Not of his powers, or of what he had done, but of tomorrow. His life had been turned completely over, and he wasn't sure where to start to pick up the pieces. He was having trouble finding employment, and only had enough money saved up to afford his rent for about another month, at most. Hell, he was already pinching his pennies just to afford his groceries, and his rather pricy addiction to coffee.

The dull look in his emerald eyes didn't seem to improve much as the rain dropped down just a little harder outside. He kept that apathetic look on his face for quite a while, before looking down at his now half-empty mug of coffee, twisting a hand around to spin the contents in the mug. This little reaction caused a rather nice aroma of Bavarian Chocolate to waft up through the air, to which he took a rather long breath from. Though within a few more moments, his eyes were once more looking outside, watching the rain as it fell.

Re: Early Morning Routine (open)
Wake up early, get out before many others would dream of being awake. Sometimes, someone just had to get away. That and a necessity for school supplies compelled Lenora to make a trip into town. On a plus side, she also had an excuse to ask someone else to keep Kiana busy today. Without classes, Saturdays were hell when it came to avoiding the little brat cousin of hers. Besides, it was St. Patrick’s Day, and with the argument that there was Irish blood somewhere in her bloodline, she was allowed to celebrate in her own little way.

Green scarf warding of pinches of the more eager celebrators, Len lounged in as much luxury she could gain from sitting in a wooden chair at a little table. This was bliss, taking a break from her little trip into town, a little Len time as she put down the paperback she’d bought and sipped at the steaming mug before her. Some strange coffee drinking, hinting of peppermint and garnished with little green sprinkles on the whip cream in an attempt to touch the beverage with festivity for the day. It wasn’t too bad, a little oversweet, but good nonetheless. And a minuscule triumph, enjoying a drink that Kia would deem “unworthy of being called coffee because of its perverted alterations to the genuine taste.” Honestly, seven year olds really needed to be kept away from thesauruses and caffeinated beverages. The world did not need child coffee critics.

Adjusting her glasses, Len was eager to return to the mystery she held and the peace that came with passing time in cafes with a half eaten slice of pie. Not even a good book, but it was the act of reading that came with the package of peace. Eyes absorbing the words, her free hand trailed over her brown locks, absently checking for loose strands from her bun before lifting a pie-laden fork to her mouth. She liked to think of all this as perfect, just as how she imagined from what was displayed on television. Everything the way it was supposed to be.

Why couldn’t everything be more or less on a system, working out just the way it was meant? That was a mystery to her, more than deducing in the second chapter that it was the protagonist’s ex-husband’s brother who had committed the murder. And as long as she didn’t mind ordering coffee, she could probably stay here for another half an hour in her little bubble of peace.

Then her phone rang once, the shrill tune bursting her bubble with a picture that had been sent to her. Of pencils sticking out of the wall over her bed as if they’d been built right in, forming the picture of a four leaf clover. Slamming her phone shut with a hiss, Len growled. Looked as if the kid had gathered every pen and pencil in the mansion, thought to leave her “dear cousin” a holiday surprise that could be called sweet by some, a pain for the one who had to replace the stolen writing utensils and somehow remove them from the wall before she accidentally skewered herself.

No…she wouldn’t let her, at least not right. Pencil clovers aside, she wanted this to be a peaceful, perfect day where she could pretend that she didn’t have deranged relatives that somehow always ruined her picture perfect ideas of picture perfect days. Shutting off the phone, Len tossed it into her bag as she took an angry sip and was left with a mouthful of leftover cream. That was another thing she had to do if she wanted to return to her illusion of an ideal time in town. She’d thought that the rain had ruined her trip, but now, it lent a unique atmosphere as it pattered against the window. Ordering another of those minty drinks of goodness eased the stress-related headache and her wallet, but it was worth it. Tossing the end of her scarf over her shoulder, Len leaned back in her chair. This was how things always should be. As quaint and perfect as a sitcom coffee house. Only, this was a café.

With a noticeable sigh, Len abandoned her book once more to stare out the window, drawing out a romantic side of her. “Nice…” the words were muttered over the rim of her cup without realization anyone was near. Things were nice, until her elbow bumped the table and coffee splashed onto her thigh. Gasping, Len scooted back into a chair, and a person, seated in the table behind her as she grabbed for a napkin. The day didn’t like her much, did it.

“Oh, sorry, didn’t meant to hit you, spilled,” Len stumbled over the apology while she stood, curses spilled from under her breath. Couldn’t even have a nice cup of coffee, could she… Tossing the browned napkin on the table, she sighed, turning once more to the stranger behind her.

“Damn, ah, think you have another napkin?” So much for perfect. She was pretty sure she’d be leaving in embarrassment after this.

Re: Early Morning Routine (open)
Things had been pleasant enough, though it was rather humorous that one Katie’s day off she went and spent it in another café, ah well, the bag of clothes at her feet and crisp new fantasy book in her hand was more then enough to make up for it, at least there was no calls for auditions or need to rehearse for some song or another. Ms Brooks’ driver was sitting with her, slightly older and dressed in a pressed fine grey suit with a white shirt and sky blue silk tie, quit attractive with green eyes and sandy blonde hair with highlights. The guy just came out of an 9 year relationship with his highschool sweetheart and being 26 meant he had little chance to be with other women, hanging around a teenage pop star and new actress sensation was definitely a step into the world of well standing and high aspiring females. Katie on the other hand showed no interest in anything more then friendship with the driver and he had pretty much been grateful for that, she was a little too young for him despite only being a couple of years below him. But many guys wouldn’t hesitate in calling the new sensation a bombshell and with a sweet personality to match Katie Brooks was definitely going to be a heart breaker when she started getting more involved with the idea of dating… it just never seemed she gave such a thing the time of thought most girls her age and younger usually did.

“Oh, sorry, didn’t meant to hit you, spilled,” Both rising star and her chaperon turned their attentions to the table near them, a woman seemed to spill coffee onto herself and a slight commotion arose from the accident. “Damn, ah, think you have another napkin?” Although the girl didn’t look hurt that didn’t stop Katie from being a little worried, she’d been a waitress long enough to know that hot liquid on lap equals very bad, but still, if her drink had cooled down enough it wouldn’t be more then an embarrassment and nothing painful, well, only painful to the ego.

Golden blond locks fell about Katie’s shoulders as her startling gaze watched the other tables, her slender form already rising from her seat and so in turn her driver too rose, as self appointed body guard when her others weren’t around Mark was cautious as a big brother might be over a kid sister wandering off. Wearing dark stockings and thick heeled shoes that resembled a more stylish pair of school shoes, a short black and white Scottish pelt skirt with a white sleeveless shirt and a black collar, a black belt wrapped about her waist with a round white buckle, Katie’s attire was usually some cross between creative, different and what one could call angelic punk, if such a thing existed…

"Was the liquid hot? I work as a waitress so I have something for burns if you’re hurt." It didn’t look like the other girl was, and Katie felt bad for interrupting her a she spoke to the other who she addressed, but Katie had bitten down the pain of a burn on more then one occasion if it meant that she could just deal with the customer and then hurry off to the privacy of the Nova’s backroom where she could whimper in silence and apply the ointments and first aid needed.

Re: Early Morning Routine (open)
((OOC: Um…okay…guess I’ll just post…))

Thick denim on a muggy day. It wasn’t fashionable, but it looked decent with her black sweater, and most importantly, it did keep the injury minimum. But it didn’t make it less irritating. It wasn’t pleasant to spend the rest of the day smelling like an over-sweet jcup of java. Nor was it to walk around with the stain.

How humiliating, blundering in a coffee house. It was a quick way to ruin the mood, or worsen it since she’d received her cousin’s message. Snatching off her knit cap in frustration, it was hard to hide her disappointment as she sopped up what she could. Leave it to her to be one who couldn’t take a coffee break without any problems.

"Was the liquid hot? I work as a waitress so I have something for burns if you’re hurt."

“Yes, yes…” Len grumbled. “It’s just warm. Lucky me.” At least something had been for the better. That tiny bit of optimism was so hard to find, she could barely cling to that thought while grabbing a handful of napkins from a nearby dispenser. And now she was wasting paper. Death to the trees. It was enough for her to pause in shame.

Looking up to the voice that had spoken, the man was what came into her vision first, startling a small gasp of confusion at the feminine voice. Until her eyes fell on the real source. That was more like it. She looked just about her age, if not a little shoulder. Sitting back down in her awkward way of making up for the height difference, Len forced a smile.

She was a waitress? That seemed more of an occupation for herself, a lot more along the lines of “plain Jane.” Bizarre seeing someone with…the guy looked a little old to be her boyfriend, in a place like this. Len didn’t exactly know what to say.

“Thanks anyway, really. It’ll just be a little sticky.” It was what she deserved for such a sugar saturated drink. With a weak grin, she gave up with the napkins and bundled them up. Nothing other than a good wash would get the coffee out of the pants. The stain wasn’t the worst part. She’d been more disappointed at the interruption of the day.

With a sigh, Len peered into what was left of the cup, passing on the whipped cream sludge that had accumulated while she’d had her nose buried in the book. Wiping uselessly at the brown spots on the cover, such a small imperfection turned her away from the book. And she normally took the greatest care in keeping simple spine creases. It wasn’t as if it would make it worse, and with a grimace, she wiped the book cover on her thigh.

“Clumsy idiot…” Len muttered under her breath. She’d have to go back and change. Or… “Well, now I have an excuse to buy a new pair of pants for the day,” with a wry grin to the other girl, Len shoved the book in her bag.

“Thanks anyway, for the offer. I think I’m happier knowing I didn’t need burn stuff.”

((OOC: Well, might as well make an attempt to keep this from dying))

Re: Early Morning Routine (open)
“Yes, yes…” The girl did not sound please, not that Katie would think she’d be happy about spilling coffee, but it seemed like there was a lot of tension and frustration, Katie was always such an easy going person, if she spilled something than she usually sighed at best, then laughed it off and got a change of clothes. The part time actress and full time singer wondered if perhaps some of this reaction stemmed from being really embarrassed. Everyone acted differently, and just because Katie could find humour in something, didn’t mean someone else would, the important thing was that no one was hurt, and as the other woman continued, it helped assured the young Miss Brooks that she was indeed unharmed by the accident. “It’s just warm. Lucky me.” First impressions were usually Katie’s strong point, even if she was short in stature, she more then made up for it, her attractive looks aside people often did find Katie to be a really well mannered sweet girl, not that Katie wen’t out of her way to give off that impression, she was naturally friendly and that’s caused her to get into a few scraps when people try to push their company onto her and she’d find it hard to shrug them off. While most of the time things turned out for the better, there were a few times where a stern ‘no’ would have saved Katie from a lot of frustration and awkwardness.

“Thanks anyway, really. It’ll just be a little sticky.” That Katie knew too well, being in such a busy place like Nova Café often meant that people would bump into the waitress and while Katie managed to save a good many drinks, she wasn’t always lucky and had ended up wearing a fair few of them too. There was a slight sympathetic air to the bright eyes of the raising star as she watched the other go about trying to finish cleaning up, attempting to save the book which was dotted with spilt coffee.

“Clumsy idiot…” Everyone suffered accidents in their day, some so small it went by unnoticed while others were more prominent and noticed, “Well, now I have an excuse to buy a new pair of pants for the day,” Shopping! Always a good way to pick up any slump the day may have brought, and as long as you had the money to spare then shopping was always going to be a good therapy session, at least as far as Katie was concerned. There were times a friend of hers went through a really tough time and not many people Katie knew had as much money as she did so saying ‘lets go shopping’ was usually a cause for concern from her tightly budgeting friends, though if they were close enough, Katie didn’t mind shouting a trip to the mall. It made her happy to help her friends be happy and get over whatever downs they were going through, even if it wasn’t a permanent fix, it was good to get their minds off problems for a while.

“Thanks anyway, for the offer. I think I’m happier knowing I didn’t need burn stuff.” Golden locks were brushed over Katie’s shoulder with a gracious motion of her hand, a smile tugging in the corner of her lips.

"There’s nothing better then a good session of retail therapy," It seemed like the other was preparing to leave and Katie hardly wanted to keep her, especially since it’d force Len to stand around idly in damp sticky clothes. The slender hand reached out, well groomed and with the perfect touch of a light tan, yet friendly as it was assertive. "it was a pleasure to meet you."
