Mike have you heard of this supplement
Hi Mike,

Bob told me today he has been taking a supplement that he found thru a health newsletter. He said it probably helped his blood clot in his let and was good for the heart.

It is triveratrol plus, It says it has 150mg inner leaf gel Aloe Vera, 100mg tumeric extract (root), 50 mg trans reservatrol (from japanese knotweed root), 40mg red wine phenols(from grape).

I just wanted to see if you had heard of it or its ingredients. I am glad Bob told me he has been taking it. I need to look up stuff and see if it interacts with other things he is prescribed to be taking now.

Thanks for all the reserach and posting you do.

Re: Mike have you heard of this supplement
Betti,
I did a little research on this and it is basically antioxidants (tumeric and phenols). The japanese knotwood is reportedly a mild laxative, which I am not sure would be so good for someone with chrohns.

Dietary supplements are going to be highly regulated by FDA starting this year. Remeber that plant extracts are often times the basis for drugs, so you need to be careful when using them.

Also when a supplement is making health claims I would steer clear of it as this is a violation of the Food, Drug, and cosmetic act.

Re: Mike have you heard of this supplement
never heard of it. please take it along with you to Boston and have doctor foster comment. ANY over the counter stuff MUST be shown to the doctors. this could interact with the drugs now being used on Bob. I always discourage people from using these things as there is no safety information for them when used alone or in combination with other meds. just because the reading material sounds good, it might not be good for anyone in a condition such as Bob's.
