Monday 19/3/24: Lunch for the New Girl!

"Oh good, food!," There was a hint of avoidance in her pleasant decleration, and while Connor could make out that she was a bit taken back by the previous comments, he liked how she didn’t push, more willing to allow him the chance to open up on his own accord and not fight him for any more details than he was willing to give. "I-um, well, thanks for offering to get that list, but I think maybe it would be mentioned in the handbook, right? I mean, I wouldn't want ya to have to go to all that trouble. Besides, I gotta read that thing anyway." Connor wasn’t sure but that did make sense about it all being readily listed for students to read all about. He smiled shyly a little, stepping forward he held open the door for her as they passed into the kitchen, the spaciously designed area made for people to be able to walk around each other easily while trying to use the various bench spaces. Bright sea blue eyes found a moment to stare over towards a spoon that some student had left on the bench, having obviously stirred their coffee and then absent-mindedly left behind their spoon, the residue of coffee lightly staining the bench top and waiting to be cleaned up.

"So, whatcha in the mood for?," Despite being spoken to, Connor’s eyes remained focused on the spoon, wondering how people could just leave something there to soil up the surface that other’s had to eat off! "I've been told I make a great pizza..If they have the pre-made crust." Slowly Connor pulled his gaze off the small silver spoon and focused on Aldrea, a partial smile tugging at the corner of the feral’s lips.

"Pizza?" All the different tastes could sometimes be overpowering for Connor but he didn’t mind a slice or two on occasions, at the moment he couldn’t remember the last time he had a pizza but one thing was for sure and that was if food was offered an Enright never turned down the offer! The smile brightened slightly more, "Well, if it’s food I tend to eat it." The light chuckle that came was more because he felt like such a pig, and it was humorous even if it did upset the boy to think his father had to keep the fridge so well stocked. "Do you want to check the fridge and freezer for what you need? I can clean up the area for you quickly." Sometimes Connor did forget that his small irritations towards things being out of place weren’t a bother to other people, but surely with a spoon smearing coffee over the bench, all be it lightly, one could understand the need to clean it up! "Would you like a drink?" Offered Wolverine's son as the youth moved over to the sink in order to find a sponge to wipe the benches with.

Re: Monday 19/3/24: Lunch for the New Girl!
The kitchen was quite nice with all the light coming from the big window in the nook that held the table and with the other windows. It was the kind of kitchen she hoped to have when she got her own place; years and years down the road! She could definitely get used to living her.

"Pizza?"

His inquiry brought Aldrea's wandering dark amber gaze back to rest on him, noting how he was actually looking at something else. Following his gaze, she found that she was looking at a spoon that had been left on the table's bench. It seemed to have been used to stir coffee since there was some residue left on it, at least in color, and around the area it was sitting on. She almost moved to pick it up automatically (her mother hated it when her daughters had left stuff out, saying that it just created more of a mess for her to clean), but thought better of it and instead tried to pretend that she hadn't really noticed it much.

"Well, if it’s food I tend to eat it..Do you want to check the fridge and freezer for what you need? I can clean up the area for you quickly."

"Okay," she said automatically, glad to see that he was picking the spoon up as she turned and headed towards the freezer, sticking her head in and immediately catching sight of the premade crust and with a grin, she took it out and laid it out on the counter. She then looked in the fridge and immediately saw everything she needed.

"Would you like a drink?"

The Native American beauty looked over at Connor then and smiled as she said, "I'd love an ice water if it wouldn't be too much trouble." She didn't say a thing when she noticed that he was getting a sponge to wipe the benches off (she assumed that at least). She probably would have done it just to be helpful around here. So the lovely brunette proceded to get out the cheese she'd need to use (asiago and some shredded mozzerella) and the jar of pizza sauce already made. Usually, she made it herself, but she didn't feel like it today and was just glad to have it already made. She had found some pepporoni too, but wasn't sure what else Connor might like on the pizza. She loved to make a pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, and spinach, but she wasn't sure whether he might like that.

"So, what would you like on your pizza?," she asked, knowing that she could make two if need be since there were two premade crusts and enough ingredients to do so...

Hard to believe, despite the days that had passed, the moments of fear and the moments of anxiety that overlapped with curiosity and intrigue, Connor was making friends, albeit newer friends then ones he was actually supposed to know. At least so far that’s how it seemed.

"I'd love an ice water if it wouldn't be too much trouble." Ice water it was then! She has a nice smile at least. The thought was pleasant, because right now Connor both wanted and needed more pleasantness then anything else, especially awkwardness, and so far Aldrea was doing a pretty good job of keeping him comfortable while he also tried hard to serve her as best as he could. Being a tour guide wasn’t easy work when you don’t really know much more then the one you’re supposed to be showing around. Now.. where would they place the glasses? A few cupboards were opened and closed, his fingers only just managing to carefully secure their grasp about a class as Aldrea asked about toppings for his pizza. Do I even have a favourite pizza? The question was shunted aside for what it was, a pointless and needless remark that was only there to cause him pain, and self pity was never something Connor allowed to effect him… his relationship with his father aside. That pain was far too deep and last for far too long for Connor to know how to deal with it, and sometimes self pity was the only way it could come out in, even if in small doses.

"I don’t mind really, surprise me!" A smile was returned, despite his less then cheery thought before, his eyes however showed no sign of the inner struggle to cope. Things were going well, and for now he wanted to enjoy himself, it meant a lot to him to interact with people and if he could make a few new friends out of this then at least he could say something good had indeed come about from losing his memory. At this point, anything would do to help him cope with it all, even a nice lunch with the new girl.

Moving towards the fridge, Connor opened the freezer door and pulled out the ice drew, where small cubes of ice were stored to save room instead of having loads of ice trays. Instead of using his fingers, Connor scooped up the ice straight into the cup, then closed the drew and opened up the fridge, it would be better to get cold water from the fridge then the tap, and thankfully he found a jug of water.

"So… what sort of things do you do outside of classes?" Connor was never the greatest with small talk but as far as Connor went, this was a vast improvement, usually he’d forgo the entire process and prefer just remain in silence, it never helped him win people over.

After setting the oven for the correct temperature, Aldrea got busy getting out the fresh spinach leaves out of the crisper in the fridge when she heard Connor say to surprise him. "I'll make a spinach, mushroom, and pepperoni one then and a cheese pizza as well; just in case," she said with a grin as she got a chopping knife from the knife block and started chopping up some spinach leaves on the chopping board. She only needed to chop a few. After she was done, she put the remainder back into the fridge. She then got out some olive oil and a paint brush and spread some olive oil on both of the premade crusts that were sitting on separate pizza pans, making sure to do even strokes. The lovely new girl then poured the pizza sauce onto the crusts in small doses before spreading it with a fork up to the edges of the crust. She should have waited to chop the spinach until after all this, but that was okay.

"So… what sort of things do you do outside of classes?"

It was then that Connor handed her a glass of ice water, causing her to pause and smile as she thanked him before she thought of all the things she did at her past school (besides class, of course). "Well," she began as she got a small container of mostly fresh mushrooms out of the crisper and opened it, putting a few on the chopping board to chop, "I like to play around with my gadgets, of course...I play the guitar and flute occasionally. Video games too. The Kingdom Hearts series is my absolute fave. I like to read fantasy and sci-fi too. Of course, sometimes I get my best gadget ideas from those books too. I haven't quite figured out how to do the lightsaber from Star Wars, but I think I can get it someday. I love movies, of course. Just depends on what mood I'm in really. I like to do it all..I'm just not a good swimmer, unfortunately..." The last few sentences, Aldrea chopped up a few mushrooms (after washing them, of course [she'd washed the spinach earlier before chopping it]).

The sweet Native American then got out some already mixed and shredded cheese in a bag and washed her hands again (having washed them before she had started preparing everything) before she took out some of the asiago and mozzarella shredded mix and evenly distributed it over the pizza sauce of each pizza. After washing her hands again (she hated the residue that the cheese left on her hands), she placed the pepperoni in an order that would allow the maximum ammount to be put on there before she sprinkled some of the chopped spinach around and then placed the bits and pieces of mushrooms all around. After all that, she washed her hands once again before she spinkled some more cheese over the pepperoni, spinach, and mushroom pizza.

Once she was through, she popped them into the preheated oven and set the timer before she washed her hands for what seemed like the upteenth time and wiped them off on the back of her shirt before leaning against the counter opposite the oven. "Whoo!," she said with a laugh, "Glad that's done. So, what about you, Connor, O great man of mystery. What do you think you do outside of class? It doesn't have to be true. You can make it up if ya like. Just gotta be something you could picture yourself doin', ya know?"

"Well," The newly arrived student began, seeming to swiftly go about preparing the odds and ends for this lunch she was organizing. As Aldrea moved, Connor watched, his eyes skimming over the things she did and the food she touched, his aimless gaze busying itself with studying how she went about things. "I like to play around with my gadgets, of course...I play the guitar and flute occasionally. I like to do it all..I'm just not a good swimmer, unfortunately..." So many things! For some reason Connor had expected something more along the lines of an offhand sentence thrown his way and then shrugged off in a vague manner. Though a sligh awkward cringe was perhaps more noticable then Connor would have liked, though still easily over looked considering Aldrea appeared so busy with her preperations. Connor assumed he could swim, he just got freaked out when he tried going deeper into the water, maybe he almost drowned at some point?

The native American washed her hands a lot, while Connor wasn't completely aware of how fussy he was, this was something he appreciated, and would grow to appreciate more as he realizes just how vile foods can taste if filthy hands have touched it.

"Whoo!," she said with a laugh, "Glad that's done. So, what about you, Connor, O great man of mystery. What do you think you do outside of class? It doesn't have to be true. You can make it up if ya like. Just gotta be something you could picture yourself doin', ya know?" It was an interesting idea, and so simple in some ways, yet so confusing in others.

"I... think I like reading, but I can't sit down and read for long even though I enjoy it, I think I'm a very restless person. So maybe I like sports?" It was more of a question, though one he didn't expect Aldrea to answer, instead the feral offered a bashful smile, one that seemed to suit the rogueish youth. "being a guy I'm sure it's safe to say I like girls," A light chuckle came, shy as it was, followed by a more serious and certain statement; "I enjoy spending time with my family." A polite smile curved more noticably on the eldest Enright's lips as he added, "And of course I like meeting new friends."

It was true that while preparing food, 'Drea did tend to wash her hands a lot. However, it was really because she disliked the film or grease that sometimes came with handling certain types of food. It was also quite annoying when you could so obviously taste the flavor of something completely different from what you were actually eating. It was just annoying to her. Besides, Connor had mentioned that he was a bit picky with food and that usually meant a sensitive tongue.

Connor seemed a bit confused to the Native American's proposition. It was a bit funny to watch his slightly puzzled reaction take place. However that was short-lived.

"I... think I like reading, but I can't sit down and read for long even though I enjoy it, I think I'm a very restless person. So maybe I like sports?"

"I can see that," she said with a grin, "You've certainly have the bod for it." Waaaaiiiit a minute! Did she just say that last part out loud?! Oh crap! She had relaxed! Now she had just said something without thinking too carefully.

"being a guy I'm sure it's safe to say I like girls,"

Aldrea blushed at what Connor had said, grinning ever so slightly as she sipped her glass of ice water. He seemed a bit shy about it and she wouldn't have thought that of him. However, as she got to know him, she was finding that he was quite shy and maybe a bit unsure of himself. He was sweet though and seemed to genuinely mean everything he said.

"I enjoy spending time with my family. And of course I like meeting new friends."

"Family can be fun to hang out with," the Southern beauty said with a smile, "Oh, c'mon, you're just sayin' that. You must say that to all the new people." She laughed then and smiled shyly. She looked to the timer then. Five minutes to go. Already the room was filling up with the delicious smell of cheesy pepperoni, mushroom, and spinach pizza overpowering the extra cheesy asiago and mozzerella pizza.

"MMmmmMmmmm..," she said as she sniffed the mouthwatering aroma, "Nothing like the smell of pizza when you're hungry!" It was true. You could practically taste the pizzas by now. She started looking for the pizza slicer then, finding it only after her fourth try. A quick look at the timer showed her that she had about two minutes left. Another look around got her the potholders. One minute left...

"Almost ready now," she said as she watched it go to thirty seconds, then..ten, nine, eight...five, four, three, two, one-BEEEP! Aldrea opened the oven door and took out first the cheese pizza and then the other, placing them both on the stove top to cool before she closed the oven door and turned off the oven.

"Perfect. Juuuust perfect," she said as she started cutting up first the cheese pizza then the spinach, pepperoni, and mushroom pizza, holding the cookie sheet in place with a potholder as she did so...

"Family can be fun to hang out with," Well... 'fun' might be pushing it slightly when it came to Connor's family, at least as far as he could tell. The only one who didn't look as if they could freeze a glass of water with a glare was Chris, and he wasn't blood related. Ok Arisa seemed sweet, but she had a fierce streak to her when rubbed the wrong way, all of them seemed to. "Oh, c'mon, you're just sayin' that. You must say that to all the new people." Admittedly..... Connor had no idea if that was true or not. He could imagine it wasn't, not everyone had the best of attitudes and Connor could imagine with a family like his that he'd not really want to put up with any more attitude then what his sister Madison could stew up.

"MMmmmMmmmm..," A grin spread over Connor's expression all the brighter that the sound effect that came from the beauty. Usually girls tried hard to play the perfect princess half the time, Connor didn't need his memory intact to remember that small fact. He liked it when girls sat outside their expected stereotypes, it made things interesting, "Nothing like the smell of pizza when you're hungry!" And heaven knows that Connor and his siblings were usually always hungry, and right now he found himself awkwardly distracted by the appealing thought of food. Awkward because he was never really the most social of eater, or at least especially around people he didn't know.. The feral might not remember much but he already realized that his odd little habits would sometimes appear more noticable in different situations.. And eating seemed to be one scene that people stared at him, at least Sarah had, and the fact she commented hadn't help.

"Almost ready now," Connor wondered if there was anything more he could do to help, but instead stood off to the side for a moment letting Aldrea sort the tray out herself. "Perfect. Juuuust perfect," For a moment Connor lingered and then felt utterly out of place as he stood there, he really ought to be doing something..

"Need any help?" It was open to any sort of help, refill the glasses, make up a proper setting... not that it was really needed... or.. or maybe it was, where would they eat? Likely in here maybe... or would she go out into the hall? It was really quiet out there.. only a few students and most weren't eating, just scribbling nots with drinks at their side. "And where did you want to sit?"

Aldrea didn't even realize how antsy Connor was getting with nothing to do. She certainly didn't help when all she was doing was most of what had to be done. Still, had she known, she would have at least let him cut the pizzas. As it was though, she didn't know and so, she was quite oblivious.

"Need any help? And where do you want to sit?"

Aw, how sweet, he was trying to be helpful. Well, he could get the plates and silverware if he needed it. She just liked to pick it up by the crust and eat it that way. However, she knew that some people did use a fork and knife to eat pizza too. The first time she'd seen that, she had been a bit curious and had rudely stared until her friend had shaken her with a laugh. "You can get the plates down if ya want," she said with a smile as she finished with the spinach, mushroom, and pepperoni pizza, "And silverware if ya need it. I never knew that people ate pizza with silverware until I was in a pizza parlor with my friends and saw it across the room. I stared and only looked away when my friend jostled me with a giggle at how funny my face had looked!"

"As for seating? Well, um, why don't we try the cafeteria," she said, her face brightening, "That way we can continue the tour without your havin' to show it to me once we finished eating. That is, unless ya think that in here would better..?" She looked at the pizzas a bit dubiously at that point The Native American sweetheart had been so proud of her idea of continuing the tour that way that she hadn't considered that they'd probably have to cart the pizzas along with them. The smell alone was enough to make her mouth water and she wasn't sure that the other students that would be in the cafeteria would be immune to the smell either. That might result in a stampede and she didn't wish to be trampled on her first day! So really, it was a bit of a dilemma. One that she had thoughtfully left up to her host...

Re: Monday 19/3/24: Lunch for the New Girl!
"You can get the plates down if ya want," Plates! Yes, he could do that… iridescent blue eyes peered about the various cupboards as he wondered which one held the plates. Well, there was one way to find out! Because right now he didn’t have any x-ray vision stored in his little bag of ‘borrowed’ mutant powers. Reaching up for the nearest few, he opened them to check as Aldrea continued to speak. "And silverware if ya need it. I never knew that people ate pizza with silverware until I was in a pizza parlor with my friends and saw it across the room. I stared and only looked away when my friend jostled me with a giggle at how funny my face had looked!" Oh… she stared? Connor seemed to hesitate in his search for a brief moment as he looked over at her… he didn’t like it when people stared… they had a tendency to do a lot of staring at him when they went out, or worse at his sister, sure his habits were strange, but no one had a right to stare at Arisa, he didn’t care what colour fur she had! First the plates… the food smelt nice and he was hungry… then again, being Connor, he was always hungry! As his newly arrived companion continued to speak, two plates were found and retrieved from the cupboard.

"As for seating? Well, um, why don't we try the cafeteria," Plates were half turned in Connor’s hand to examine and assess for cleanliness, there seemed to be a single and very slight twitch of the tip of his nose as the feral glanced felt content enough with them, "That way we can continue the tour without your havin' to show it to me once we finished eating. That is, unless ya think that in here would better..?" …oh yes, here, here, here, here. A charming smile softly graced the male’s lips, a smooth and very casual voice flowing effortlessly from his lips as Connor spoke, placing down the plates for her as he talked.

"It’d be good for you to get used to the cafeteria." Ok, no… not what he had meant to say, but hey, that’s ok, he’ll just go twitch on the floor later should things go wrong. Then again, it wasn’t lunch time, or dinner, or any large gathering time, so Connor could hope that the cafeteria wasn’t crowded and relatively quiet… "I could always bring a knife and fork, that way those that past the staring in order to brave a request for slices can then suffer much poking." There was a nod of Connor’s head, Logan’s son leaned forward, pressing his palms down into the bench top as he looked down at the pizza’s. He’d have made another comment, though found himself keeping silent instead, having talked with Sarah a lot he had become weary about peoples ability to twist words about… Weary and slightly paranoid, he didn’t want to give the wrong impression to people because he said something innocent and they turned it into something perverted. "Oh, if you want, I can carry the plates and you can lead the way to a table."
