Physical Description:
Long pale blonde hair falls straight down her lower back, often she keeps bits of her hair draped over her shoulder, a pale pink streak can be seen down the fringe. The young beauty has near perfect skin, nothing a touch of make up occasionally can’t fix. The red eyes that Niki had been born with always had an eerie effect on people, especially when she was less then pleased with something, on top of favouring darker make up and having pale skin that seemed to refuse to take a natural tan, it all seemed to work against the girl.
Quiet, slender and surefooted, curious in her movements as if constantly making sure to keep an eye open for surfaces that could be used as a form of escape, Niki is determined, headstrong at times and often stubborn when she feels something needs to be done.
Bodily fluids seem to contain a lot of her blood within them, tears and sweat included, which means when crying, her tears are red, and when sweating, her clothes get stained with the blood, making ‘white’ a colour not often worn, sticking to darker colours. This means that Niki has a very potent scent of blood to her, even when freshly washed and ‘clean’ anyone with a good nose could pick up the smell of blood from her. Often she tries to hide the scent from those around her by applying soft scented oils to her skin, and a lot of deodorant to keep her dry!
Due to this, Niki showers a few times a day, otherwise her skin can get icky, and the colour begins to discolour in areas where she sweats more.
Powers:
Mirror-world:
Able to enter through a reflective surface, into what is known as ‘the mirror world’, this is a double of earth, earths reflection in everyway, the only time there are animals, people or traffic and the like, are when they pass infront of a reflective surface, and therefore, appear in the mirror world. This happens briefly at times, in flickers, but that doesn’t make them any less real to Niki when she’s inside. If a truck ‘flickers’ into existence suddenly as she’s crossing the road, there’s just as much danger of being hit and dying as in the real world, though the truck itself, in the real world, would remain unaffected. Few things that happen in the mirror world affect the real world, but everything that happens in the real world will affect the mirror world, as long as something occurs in front of a reflective surface. The reflections are solid, and Niki can not stop them, or harm them, they are merely 'shadows' of the real world basically, and while she can get knocked about by these reflections, she in turn is unable to actually interact or harm them, nor can she force them to change course. As a result, wherever Niki walks, she must always be cautious and alert.
The reflective surface can not be that of a person or creature, and needs to be able to fit her body through, otherwise she can not pass, similarly, she can not see through shiny surfaces that are organic, such as the eyes of people or creatures. Inside the mirror world Niki is able to look out through these small ‘doorways to the real world’ in order to see what is going on, however whenever she passes a ‘reflective surface’ in either world, she can be seen on the other, so if she’s looking out through the reflection of a glass vase, someone nearby may see her ‘reflection’ on the surface. It is possible for Niki to get close to the small gateways her voice could be heard whispering through on the other side.
In short, Niki can not travel through eyes or rather shiny polished teeth, she can also not see through these examples and similar. While Niki could enter the mirror world through water, she could not swim up to a whale and crawl into its eye, not without some rather unpleasant results..
Infective Blood:
An ability that came from her father, born with a mutated blood stream, there’s a chemical that her body can produce at will in order to alter the bloods chemistry, which in turn effects both herself, and anyone else that comes in contact with it. Disorientation, aggression, mood swings and nausea are some of the things that could occur when her blood in touched, ingested or even inhaled, to a much lesser degree however, and dependant on close proximity to her spilt blood.
More commonly, this effects usually only Niki herself, producing all the same effects for her, that any one else might suffer, usually a shift in personality occurs, making it obvious to those around her and familiar with her abilities to be extra cautious of physical contact, as obviously the sweat on Niki’s skin could be absorbed into theirs and thus effect them too.
History:
Whatever the cause of mutancy, it’s the soul of the person who is blessed or cursed with the x-gene that in the end makes a mutant good or bad, it is not the gene itself. And while many people were coming to terms with that idea, and many more ignoring it blindly, the Cole’s were a couple that felt the injustice hand of the world’s cruelty. Known mutants at a young age, Tom and Jessica found solace with each other in the sense that they were alike, both mutants, different to the outside world, yet safe in each others presence. The only difference was Tom had a power that effected not only himself, but those around him, and all Jess had was the pale skin that set her apart. At first, both of them thought they were only ‘physically’ different, yet over the year they spent together, Jessica and Tom realized he had another ability aside just red eyes, one that explained the bouts of confusion and dizzy spells that both of them had been suffering at times. This ability was what in the end drove things from being normal, to being unbearable. At first they thought it was something Tom could learn to control, and to a degree he had, but over time, the effects of his seemingly toxic blood seemed to alter his very personality, turning the relatively level headed young man into a progressively more violent individual.
Over time, and through desperation, both had begun drinking, Jess even picked up on various drugs after the first few beatings that had sent her to hospital, the morphine had been her only release at the time and so it had become her lifeline. Their physical relationship had become unbearable, he was aggressive even then, his actions thoughtless and yet her requests for it to stop always ignored. When Jess had fallen pregnant after one such event, she suggested abortion, with the excuse they didn’t have money for a child nor were they ready. But somehow it had come across as an insult, a threat, and later when she said she would leave him during a fight, his only resolve was to lock her in the study. For weeks he would keep her inside, letting her out to use the bathroom for a half hour but he wouldn’t leave her alone even during this, on the rescue he wasn’t going to let her use the chance to commit suicide.
There had been occasions that Jess had tried to walk out, times where she had even managed to get down the street, yet each time he followed, and he found her, and in a fury she was forced back. All hope had slowly been cut out of her, all happiness seemed nothing but a dream she had once so long ago. The eventual birth of her child was not a celebration, but one of mourning, she had allowed something she grew and cared for to be cast into this life, where laughter was a sound heard only from the streets occasionally, where sobs and cries of pain and what seemed a constant hurt was all that awaited the newbown.
And sure enough, that’s what happened. Tom continued to used his powers willing against his family to dominate them, disorientating them and making it difficult for them to fight back.
Even as an infant aggression was targeted on the child, the slightest cry and Tom would enrage, especially if he were trying to sleep or watch TV… unfortunately he spent most of his time doing either one. Niki, which was what Jess had called the baby, had quickly learned that being quiet was safer. That, however, did not keep her out of harms way, Tom had seemed to gotten to a point where he either didn’t care to try and hold off his aggression, or just couldn’t recall how else to act. Even when Niki had turned five he refused to allow Jess to take her out of the house, he refused to let either think they could just walk away, that there wasn’t even any point, Niki had not only her mothers pale skin, but her fathers red eyes, which meant that she was far from what most schools would consider normal. There were times, when they’d all leave the house together, that Niki would get to see other kids, that she would hear them laugh or cry over some toy their parent hadn’t gotten them… If Niki had cried over a toy she wasn’t allowed, she’d have been so sorely beaten, yet all they got was the occasional rocking and soft talking about how toys cost money and how their parents didn’t have any… or it might be there for them at Christmas… Or even more puzzling, where they’d threaten to smack the kid, and if pushed, give the kid a smack on the back of the hand, or tap them on the bottom… the kid cried and wailed as if their life were in danger, but Niki would have given anything to be in their place.
Instead, people stared at her, and her parents, and at times, when people got rude, Niki’s father would get violent, and they’d be scared of not just Tom, but Jess and Niki too, because Tom was a mutant, and so were they and there was no telling what they could do. It always upset Niki, but if either of them ever told him to stop, he’d turn on them.
It wasn’t until Niki was 8 that the pretty young girl started to notice her father was showing her more attention then she felt comfortable with. At first it was just stroking, her hair, her arm her back, but gradually it got worse, and soon she feared his footsteps outside her door. The way he’d stare at her haunted the girl, the way his hands touched her as he undressed his daughter, at first Jessica would scream at him, at first she used to try to protect Niki, but after the beatings, she stopped… everyone in the house seemed to stopped fighting. Even Niki, there was no blame towards her mother, no hate or disapproval, just an emptiness, as if Niki couldn’t connect to either her father or her mother on any real levels… it was all just a nightmare that would end one day.
At the age of 12, during a fight where Niki had half tumbled half been shoved over, falling to the ground in pain. There had been a mirror stand in her room, right in the corner, where she liked to hide, because it was wide enough that if she crawled behind it, she’d be unseen, and yet close enough to the wall that her father nether thought to look for her there. Only right at the bottom was a space, where if she had time, she’d be able to squeeze herself down into it, and lay there, and hide, tightly cramped, but safe. There was no safety for her though, if she tried to hide now, he’d see, and he’d know where to look, and he’d just drag her out kicking and screaming as always. Not always did Niki fight back, there wasn’t a point, she’d get more hurt, and it’d just last longer, if she didn’t fight, it was over sooner, but sometimes… sometimes she just wanted to be left alone! During the attempt to fight off the arms, doing everything she could to stop the risk of cutting her father, which would mean there was no chance left to fight for her, she always got sick when he bled! But the struggle of arms and legs flicking out, and reaching and grabbing, in the process her father got so mad, the poison of his blood fuelling a rage so frightful that as he grabbed at the mirror behind her, and yanked hard at it in order to topple the heavy framed mirror over, all Niki could do was offer a scream of fright as it fell down towards her.
That was the end, Niki thought, death had come, only a child and yet it still felt as if she had waited for the release for so long, though as the young girl sat curled, braced, scared and relieved all at the same time, eyes shut tightly as heavy breaths gasped in and out… Yet nothing came, silence, still, peace, it was true she felt all of those and yet no impact, no sudden pain beforehand… had she died that quickly? Slowly, her eyes had opened, bruised arms lowering to allow her red gaze to peer about her and take in what could only be Heaven… or hell… depending if she believe in either, and yet… what she saw looked like neither of which she would have imagined. No fluffy white clouds, no burning flames licking about her body.
It were her room, that Niki now sat in, a quiet, empty room… the kind of room that Niki loved, one which her father was absent from! Had she indeed died? Never before had her father just up and left! Especially when in that rage… she called it the ‘blood rage’, because the more angry he got, the more violent he got, and the more potent his bloods effect had become on them.
As if some horrible joke however, the world around her seemed to move, as if being lifted away from her, and indeed it had been, because suddenly she was staring once again at her father’s face, the loud thud of the mirror being tossed back to the wall as he grabbed at her causing Niki to grimace. Though Tom had been stunned the girl remained unhurt, enough that his temper dimmed, but fear suddenly drenched him as he wondered what could have caused her to remain unharmed. Paranoia came, and with it, fear of what else she might be capable of doing, and for days he locked her in her bedroom, threatening her if he heard the slightest movement from within, that he’d break down the door and kill her. If he were capable of kill or not, was one thing, the fact Niki believed him regardless another.
Hunger gnawed at the girl’s belly, if her father intended to kill her, or just leave her to die, either possibility was seeming entirely possible at that point. With hunger threatening her, and fear now nothing more then a dull pain in the back of her mind, curiosity and thoughts of previous days now were dared to be considered more carefully. Something had happened that night, something that put the fear into her father, something, that for once, forced him to stay away. And it had to do with that mirror… was it magical? Niki couldn’t tell for sure… the idea that she, herself, was special… it just seemed more likely that the mirror was a magic doorway. First steps were slow, cautious and light, fear that he would hear her, fear that the door to her room would swing open and that powerful and angry man would be on top of her again.
The mirror soon came within reach however, her hiding spot, the place of safety… and somehow it had become magic too! And it saved her, as it had in the past when he came looking and she had time to hide. Fingers brushed up the side of the frame, a crack in the heavy wood where the frame had bent, the mirror itself split in two the centre was destroyed, but if she got on her knees, that she could see clearly her reflection, not a crack to break it. Her palm brushed across the surface… there was no difference to what she remembered, but there had been something that saved her that night not long ago, something that stopped her getting crushed! For a moment, the girl stared at her eyes, the eyes of her father that peered back at her, Niki’s small hand pressed firmer against the glass; did the crack take away the magic? The thought upset her, and for what felt an hour she sat there, as if for the first time in her life there had been hope, and once again, there was nothing. The small forehead rested against the mirror, and just as she felt the tears finally swell in her eyes, it seemed the surface she had been resting against was gone, falling forward and having to jerk out her hands to stop her from hitting the ground face first.
It was odd, the way things looked as the girl stood up.. normal… yet… different, difficult to explain, as if things were at times partially cut off, behind her, the mouth of a doorway, the shape of her mirror, clearly letting her see her bedroom perfectly. Stepping away from that gaping hole, Niki moved towards her door, the metal handle seemed to reflect the room behind her, but her own reflection wasn’t there. Her hand moved to open the door, yet suddenly, she was on the other side, confused, fearful, but there was no sound… hunger drove the child down the stairs, even the TV couldn’t be heard, but the house, it was distorted at times, as if she had fallen asleep and was having a weird dream. The kitchen, was silent, empty, her mother wasn’t sitting at the table, drinking, no face stained with tears, no nervous looking back and forth to the lounge room where her husband watched TV, waiting for him to call out for which ever refreshments he felt inclined towards.
There was sudden movement however, as Niki crept towards the fridge, it had flickered by the glasses that sat drying on the bench by the fridge, though she was sure it hadn’t been her own, because it moved passed, and she had frozen! The fear caused her to run back up to her room, which was still difficult for her in a way, the world around her seemed to play tricks on her eyes, and she didn’t understand what was going on. The gaping hole was still in her room, the doorway to where she had begun, and while residing to going back, Niki had promised herself that this was something that needed to be explored. Later that night, some food had been nudged into her room quietly, obviously it had been her mother, there was no yelling, so Niki wondered if her mother had permission to feed her or not. At that point, the girl didn’t really care, and just wanted to eat.
With every day that passed after that, Niki went in her magic mirror, and each day discovered something new she could do inside, even managing exit through another mirror in the bathroom, though she had to carefully climb down the sink. It had been a treat to use the toilet there, because the bin in her room was all she had and it grossed her out, no matter how far away she moved it, the smell was still there. Food went missing, toilets were flushing, it didn’t take long for her father to notice and take it out on both his wife and to be at Niki’s door banging on it. Yet each time he opened it, Niki had made sure to be there, in her bed, sitting in the same spot she had been each other time he had come in.
Though there was a difference to her, perhaps the freedom she had found made her father seem so small suddenly, he could beat her, touch her, hurt her, but if she could get to the mirror first she was safe… and then he couldn’t ever touch her. He’d heard her voice at times, she discovered that when he was yelling at her from the kitchen, threatening her again. Every time he did Niki could see him, as if she was watching through the reflection of a painting, he was were clear enough, and when she felt brave and untouchable, the word ‘Try and Find me’ had slipped out angrily. She’d never spoken before, there never seemed a point, but it seemed that he had heard something, because he had run up the stairs, unlocked the door, threw it open and for once, Niki hadn’t been quick enough. She wasn’t there, and he knew it now. Every room was searched, her mother beaten with accusations of helping Niki get out, even though he was the only one with any key to any door in the house. Which meant that if Niki went back, he’d get her too… so she didn’t, she only left when he wasn’t in the house, to get food and eat and return to her hiding. To learn and play and explore… for once in so long Niki left the house, though outside was more distorted then inside, fragmented, as she discovered, based on what happened to be in front of a mirror or glass… or similar things that gained reflections. Sometimes, if she weren’t careful, people could see her, but wouldn’t know where she was standing, they’d always look behind, which mean, she discovered, they must see her reflection and think it was her, standing behind them, since they couldn’t see her in front of them in order to cast that reflection. In any case, it was complicated, yet easy at the same time, and slowly, as the days passed, she was learning different ways she could use this new world… this … mirror world she named it, into terrifying her father.
Perhaps it should have been seen coming, but that didn’t stop it annoying Niki any more or less when the man had started covering or breaking mirrors, while the covered mirror didn’t stop her exiting via that doorway, it did stop her seeing what she was walking into, and so she didn’t trust the man enough to risk it. Other things were cracked, which makes it difficult to watch things at times when it was all fragmented, and with a large surface was cracked too much she couldn’t pass.. as if a net was blocking her way. It was amusing though, and felt so good, so uplifting, to watch this once powerful frightful man, breaking down, unable to hurt her, unable to get away from her. Now she would make him suffer, and for a short while Niki had, though her mother had gone to hospital from the injuries he had put her through and Niki had not seen nor heard from her in over a week.
It became clear that the woman would not be returning to the house, while Niki never really took her in as a true mother, never had any real bonding sessions, or never remembered any she may have had, it was still a sad thought, because that woman had suffered, and been scared, and in a way, she died because of Niki’s own actions, using the mirror world to travel, leaving her mother alone basically, alone with the man that mistreated them. But in another way, Niki was pleased, because for once that woman knew peace, for once she would not have to worry any more… no more fear where she was, no more pain. There would be no more needles or drinks to block out her suffering, no more sitting at that table in the kitchen for hours, waiting for her husbands demands, fearing his company, dreading every hour that had passed, knowing that there was no escape once he insisted they go to bed, and sometimes, if he were really tired, he’d just go to sleep right away, other times, Niki could often hear the soft sobs coming through the walls, the muffled pain and his constant yelling for her to shut up or to do something or just calling her terrible names. But that was all gone now…
It was only a few more days that Niki lingered, she had considered killing her father, he had locked himself into his room by that time, still covering things that he has seen her face in before, never letting his room go dark, just in case she managed to sneak in. And she had managed it, the mirror in his closet, it was so easy, the small girl just stepped through the portal way… then pushed open the door, her small body was filthy, her clothes weeks old and unwashed, but the room, if not the whole house now, smelt bad. The knife in her hand felt heavy, and her fragile form walked like that of a ghost, pale and slow, yet she felt strong, capable, nothing could stop her, even as her father opened his eyes, the terror she saw, the realization and the fear in his eyes all made this feel so right. A smile had crept on her features, she was ready for this, ready to end it and truly be free of him… until he started breaking out in panic, his words cries of demands for it all to end, for her to just hurry up and stop toying with him, he’d tried spitting at her and using his abilities, he smeared blood around the house like traps for her to fall upon, yet even if she fell sick, all she had to do was hide again, and wait for it to wear off. But she knew what it felt like to get to that point, to be where he was apparently now, to be honest, Niki hadn’t thought he’d break down so far, even she had lasted longer, but she remembered the feel of relief when she had thought death had finally come… There was no way he would get that, not from her especially!
This time, it had been Niki who threatened the man, and she told him that she would always be there, always watching, that if he ever hurt another girl, she would know, she would return, and she would show him what true terror was. Somehow, a young girl, grimy and sickly pale, wielding a knife at the end of ones bed, a girl who had been the victim of abuse and assault and cruelty that no father, no person, should ever have inflicted, it gave Niki’s words weight, an unknown terror that lurked in the guise of a child.
At first, she held off the man, exploring the outside world that was close enough, learning that a moving reflection could clip her, or knock her over in the mirror world, and with that realization Niki also discovered that there were dangers! Roads! She watched as cars and trucks and buses flickered in and out of existence! Yet with these new discoveries, she still went back to the house, would still appear occasionally in a mirror suddenly, in a glass window, sometimes she’d carry a knife, just to smile at him with it in hand. Eventually, within weeks, he sold the house, and found somewhere else to reside… that didn’t stop Niki making him aware that no matter where he moved, she would be there, and she would watch him, and if he did anything she didn’t like, she would return… until then, she’d give him space, letting him rot in his fear, the terror and uncertainty eating away… if he killed himself, she’d not honestly care, but Niki doubted the man would actually ‘turn around’ and improve, and for the most part she had been right, all he did was hide, drink and develop a severe paranoia that put him on a disability fund, it meant he rarely left the house, sometimes even the food was delivered.
To say Niki was ‘sound of mind’ after her ordeals probably wouldn’t best describe her, and yet the girl managed to survive, watching people talk amongst each other from the safety of her secret world, managing to steal effortlessly using the same means helped her keep well dressed and fed. Niki rarely risked walking across train tracks or roads while in the mirror world, there had been too many near misses the few times she had that told her it was definitely a bad idea.
At first, with her growing ability to safely move in and out of the mirror world with more wiser entry and exit points, Niki continued to explore the world, she was a child without boundaries while safely hidden in her private world, and from there, she was able to spy and learn and discover other people, like her, and her mother, who suffered at the hands of some man that reminded her of Tom. Sometimes it was just days that were spent ‘haunting’ these people, following them and whispering, not always showing herself to them in reflections, sometimes she’d move by the portal way to cast a ‘moving shadow’ of sorts on surfaces which spooked certain people. Other times however, she kept it going on months, if she decided that the particular person was deserving of the added attention. One family, in particular, who actually had two parents abusing their three children, even went as far as trying to exorcise Niki from the house, as if she were a spirit. While the children feared her at first, Niki did whisper soothingly to them, after days of proving she wasn’t going to hurt them, Niki watched in delight as the kids realized now they had someone around who gave them that same sense of freedom and power that Niki herself had cherished when her ability first surfaced.
There had been success, and there had been failure, one father thought his wife was making him see things, and as a result, he had strangled her in the woman’s sleep. Over time Niki has had to learn to read people, to figure out how best to manipulate the situation or risk losing another ‘innocent’, so to speak, and while the young mutant was hardly figuring she could change the world, she knew she could punish the violent one or two at a time, and for now, that’s all she had.
Personality:
Depending on who Niki is talking with, her personality can alter to better fit the person she’s talking with. Due to this, as she meets people a list will be made to explain how she acts around certain folks.
Niki’s childhood has left its mental scars on the teen, while she tends to isolate herself from people a lot, feeling like an outsider constantly looking in, she does have a desire to connect. In her attempts to find these connections with people, Niki displays an odd personality trait that seems to change depending on who she talks with, even the way she speaks can become quickly affected and altered if it seems the kind of talk which is designed to cater to certain classes. If she’s talking to some street kid, she wouldn’t talk to them with a posh accent, for example.
One thing that Niki does fear, perhaps more then the thought of being hurt by someone as she had been by her father, at least that was something Niki knew, something that she had escape from before. The greatest fear, for her, is that since she seems to share blood traits with her father, that she too much become the monstrous aggressor, and that fear and unknown certainty makes her have no desire for children of her own, just in case.

Powers: We talked about that possibility briefly on MSN - could she use people's eyes as a means to look out into real world? That could potentially be rather overpowered unless she had to walk the same distance in the mirror world to get to places as she'd have to in the real world. Or can she jump from one opening/window to the next and thus enter top security buildings and the like? Would for instance movement-triggered weapons shoot her in the mirror world as well?
Did I understand it correctly that only inanimate objects can appear in the mirror world? Otherwise: could she interact with the mirror world people at all or would they just mindlessly be doing what their counterparts are doing like.. well.. reflections? If she kicked them to the ground, would the people "outside" see the reflection move quite differently to the "original"?
Wouldn't bikes and skateboards be sort of a risk for her on walkways too?
So from the history I'm guessing that not only can she re-enter the real world through a mirror, but she can also be forced to do that if the mirror is being moved "towards" her?
Could she partly re-enter, say, reach through a handmirror....... or poison someone by poking a finger out of their eye, infecting their blood by cutting their skin and smudging some of her own onto the wound?
These questions aside, all seems well.
For everyone comes the time when they have to take over responsibility. It stands to argue whether there is also a time when they can get rid of it again.
Re: Niki Cole - Bloodrage.
Most of this was already discussed over msn.. but ok xD
Powers: No, as I mentioned, it is not possible for her to travel through eyes, which I've now stressed in the bio's power section. She also can not use them to see outside into the real world.
Also, yes, Niki does have to walk the same distance, to get from one place to another, as I suggested in her history section as well, where I described her moving from her bedroom, through the door into both the bathroom and the kitchen and her fathers room. She moves as if in the real world, the distance is the same, the only flaw is that she can only leave the mirror world through other reflective surfaces she comes across, and not 'whenever'.
Security devices will not effect a reflection. And yes, if she can manage to travel through the mirror world into a top secret area, and on top of that find a reflection to crawl out of, and on top of that survive unseen in the real world, she could then manage it. The chances of her entering a top secret area and entering the real world again unnoticed however would seem unlikely, as once she enters back into the real world, she would once again be victim to any and all security.
And yes, as I explained with the truck as an example, any reflection moving in a dangerous manner can harm her, bikes and bullets and all. It would cause the same amount of damage as if it had hit her real body.
The reflective surfacs are as doorwys, as I've said, if they're moved in the real world, obviouly their place in the mirror world will shift as well. After all, just because a mirror was standing on the left side of the room for a year, doesn't mean the portal is still on the left side once the mirror is moved over to the right, obviously the mirror itself is the portal, and therefore, if it's moved, the doorway itself is moved too. Again, if the mirror is broken, Niki needs to find another surface to enter the real world, because the reflection has been too damaged for her to fit through (assuming it's totally shattered and her body wont' fit through the 'portal way')
Also in regards to smaller reflections, Niki carries a small hand mirror with her a lot, often even more then one, to use as tools at times. Sure, she could fit her fingers through, but unless she held a mirror right up next to someone elses mirror, that'd be rather difficult for her arm to reach them xD Remember, time and space still exists, she can not reach in her hand from an Australian mirror, and start slapping a german around.
If Niki was in a room next door to someone and they both had their mirrors on each side of the same wall at the same place basically, yes, Niki would be able to reach through her mirror into the other room, but again, if it's a small one, only as far as her arm will allow. Of course, this also is based on the thickness of the wall itself... if it's a massively thick wall, obviously then it wouldn't work the same as if it were just a few inches thick.
Re: Niki Cole - Bloodrage.
Hm... ok, I'll need some further clarification on two points where we seem to have been talking about different things, slightly...
The hand mirror thing: I rather meant a case in which she is physically in the mirror world and reaches out of it... not "through" it. I'm assuming from your comments though that she could do that.
As for the security thing: so basically the only aspect of the real world which can affect her is movement? Things don't have all the same properties like the originals, i.e. movement detectors won't go off in the mirror world, because they aren't entirely there, so to speak. Correct?
If she can't really do anything with things in the mirror world though, how could she move about the house via the mirror world after her father had locked the door? Wouldn't it have been locked in both worlds then?
For everyone comes the time when they have to take over responsibility. It stands to argue whether there is also a time when they can get rid of it again.
Re: Niki Cole - Bloodrage.
Well, if she knew where to look, and where to find someone, she'd be able to... but I don't know many mirrors where a whole hand would fit through it... her figners maybe but i doubt many compact mirrors would allow a fist to fit through, they are compact after all xD And usually someone would be staring at such mirrors... remember whenever Niki stands infront or peeks through any reflective area, she in turn can be seen by people in the real world. As if standing on the other side of a window! i don't know about you, but if I saw someone eyeballing me while I touched up my make up, I'd definitely close it in a scream!
At this point, buildings and stationary things such as doors that she should be able to pass through (via opening in the real world), I'm playing as if she basically phases through, without opening. Walls, trees and things she can not pass in the real world, are still barriers for her.
The reasons I've chosen this option are simple. Firstly, I do not want her phasing through every single wall and item as if she were a ghost, because in the end I would find it (in a sense) overpowerful, too easy to sneak about and just bleh all around. Secondly, I do not want her able to interact or 'move' things due to the amount of possibilities that one ability could produce. I know it's going to extreme, but if sh could influence reflections, she could effectively kill people unseen.....Also, Niki can only enter a room that has a reflective surface, for example a padded cell would be 'blocked' from her, she wouldn't be able to enter, as if the door was locked.
It's difficult to explain I guess, but I have it all set in my head... Reflections are her power, and as I said, if the room she's trying to enter has a door (locked or not in the real world makes no matter) it has to have a reflective surface for her to see, and she won't see or hear people unless they're right beside a reflection, so she could go into a room, and have 'free acceess' but she won't see someone if there is no decent sized mirror or reflection. Nor could she make out much if the reflection was puny.
