Organizations that provide computers
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of any organizations that would help with replacement of a laptop for visually impaied children. Jared's computer broke and we really can't afford to replace it right now. I called our commision for the blind here in Albuquerque and they are calling me back, I also left a message for the vision specialist at his school and am waiting to here from them too.

Thank you!
Tricia

Re: computers
Thank you Mike. I think that he will be able to get a loaner either through school or through the association for the blind.

Re: computers
His vision specialist should be able to get a loaner. Keep that in mind for not only a laptop, but the software needed, a mp3 device that hooks up to the usb port to download free books, whatever. That falls under the iep or 504 here, if you ask for it.

Tricia if you get on facebook let me know. They have a contest for giveaways every month that include laptops, and kindles! LOL Hey, can't stop a girl from dreaming!

Re: computers
Hi Renee,

Jared actually has an Ipod that he can use and I will definitely contact our vision specialist at school The state commission for the blind has a program that is called technology for children, or something similar, and they said they can help Jared. They even have programs to install on the computer that will make it easier for him.

The vision specialist for APS actually recommended that we contact the commission for the blind last year because there are a lot of things that they can do to make it easier for Jared too.

I actually have a Facebook page that my daughter created for me. I don't use it a whole lot, but I do look at it every day. I would LOVE to win a Kindle, I think we all would enjoy that!
