Pain and Anguish
OOC: This is after James ran off from John and Joan at the Center

James ran through the empty research facilities that were vacant due to the mission breifing that is taking place at the Centre, where all the agents and operatives had gathered.

James ran through the network of corridors until he came to a lab, where the windows were boarded up and the doors kept shut by wooden battons that were nailed into the door and it's frame, about five feet from the entrance to the lab as several lines of Bio Hazard warning tape that was used to divert the Scientist's away from the Lab, Only James and a few of the High commanders new this as a lie.

The doors flew open as james ran through the tape before crashing into the wooden battons, causing a twinge of pain in his ribs as the wooden battons shattered under the force of him running into the doors.

James stumbled for a few moments in the darkness of the neglected lab, he held his palm out and a dull glow was soon emited from it, ligthing the area in a dull menacing glow. James looked about at the jars of chemicals that were lying shattered on the floor or sitting on the shelves, some were still in test tubes in some form of apparatus that James was unsure off.

He fumbled around for about five minutes pain, running through him, pain that could not be subdued by the Initiative's implants but emotional pain. James finally found a light switch and flicked it, there was a short buzzing as the floresant tube lights came into life for the first time in a year, the Lab was lit up to it's fullest, dull and murky qualily, cobwebs and dust was settled over most of the surfaces.

In the middle of the room was the most intimidating thing of all for James, the Bio tube where he was held prisoner in a state of hibernation for 25 years, anger flowed through his body, mixing with the feelings of insecurity and fear, the feelings brewed into an undescribable sensation that James could not subdue, before he could react a shot of pure white energy ripped out of his palm and crashed straight into the glass of the bio tube, shattering the glass, the chemicals flooded out of the frame where the glass was blown out from and flooded the floor.

James' pain was still not subdued he started to throw his arms about in rage clearing beakers and apparatus off of the desks and work surfaces and sending them shattering accross the floor in one fell swing. James lashed out at his surroundings for a further five minutes before collapsing onto the floor in tears of frustration,

The dust that was thrown up in the violent movement of objects that cluttered the abandoned labatory, started to block out the light and James started to lose his strengh at a rapid speed, before he knew it he was unconscious curled into a shivering heap in the corner of the lab lying on shards of broken glass, blood was seeping from the cuts where the glass had peirced his skin and mixing with the shallow pool of chemicals that was forming on the surface of the floor.

Re: Pain and Anguish
Needless to say....following James overpowering sense of fear was almost too easy for the hybrid as she weaved threw the corridors after him.

Part of her wondered if she was ever like this when she was first released from her bio-tube, she doubted it....she was exactly the opposite. She didn't fear anything, or any one, these people hated demons and she'd feed off their hate, making her stronger.

In her eyes she had surpassed the humans, she was stronger, more powerful, and fully aware her body was under constant evolution. Meaning she could adapt to any environment with ease, she could survive where normal man would perish in a heartbeat.

Another amused smile spread across her lips as she studied the remains of the wooden battens, sarcastically thinking to herself if James possibly ventured down there.

As she made her way into the old unused lab, the blonde hair girl almost gave a devilish grin as she glanced about at the destruction that met her hazel eyes.

Joan:"Jaaaaaames..."

She called out softly to the figure collapses on the floor, her figure teasingly moving towards him as slowly and as smoothly as possible.

Joan:"I really don't like seeing family like this little one...it's so....depressing."

She gave a gentle wave of her hand as she spoke, the soles of her boots making loud crunching noises as they pressed down against the shattered glass. A motherly smile appeared across her face as she crouched down beside his quivering form, her hand gently reaching out and resting on his shoulder.

Joan:"We're above them you see....you and I. You don't look it, but you are, no human can stand up against us. It is not them you should fear....it is they who should fear you."

The hybrid pulled the unconscious body into a sitting position, her other hand grabbing his shoulder so she held him tightly in her grip.

Joan:"They see you like this little one.."

Although it was obvious he was more then 5 years her age, she seemed determined to call him that anyway. As she stood, she effortlessly pulled the man to his feet, though she had to hold up him otherwise he'd fall back down.

Joan:"And they're going to hurt you....wouldn't want to be punished now, would you little brother?"

She looked around, and once she spotted a table, which James seemed to have conveniently cleared earlier, she pulled him over there and placed him on top of the bench.

Joan:"I only just polished my nails.....don't make me slap you."

She warned in an annoyed tone as she stared at the man who was still shivering and covered in small cuts, most of which he obviously retrieved from the shattered glass on the floor.

Joan herself decided to leap onto the bench, comfortably taking a seat beside the older man, allowing his head to rest against her shoulder.

Joan:"...Jaaames.."

She whispered softly as she held him so he wouldn't drop off the table. Her hand that was on the opposite side of where he sat begun stroking threw the hair on his head. He was damp, from the chemicals that he had collapsed in, and cold, and the emotions that radiated from him where almost thrilling.

She glanced about the room for a moment, reminded somewhat of her own days in the lab and surrounded by bio-tubes. But it didn't bring her fear or emotions, it didn't really seem to bother her at all.

Joan:"..Poor James.....Joan's not going to let aaaany one hurt you."

She cooed to him softly as she waited for him to wake up.

Joan:"Infact, tonight you're going to rest with Jon, wouldn't that be nice? You seemed to like Jon..."

She trailed off, knowing he probably didn't hear a thing she was saying, instead she began humming, her soft sweet melody filling the air around him as she waited for him to wake up. Resting her head against his as she hummed, still gently tracing her finger across his hair in hopes of stirring him from his slumber.

Re: Pain and Anguish
The Lights started to flicker in the room, as the dust clouds started to subside, energy was starting to run through James' body, he could feel himself comming back to his senses, the first noticable thing he felt was the caring touch that Joan was using to comfort James. the next thing he could feel was the gentle humming that was both playing with his hearing and the soft vibrations comming from Joan's chin onto James' head.

A few moments later James' eyes slowly parted open, his pupils adjusting to the light, as they adjusted he could see the devistation that he had caused in his blind rage. He had a loathing for the Directive, but yet he still held a small loathing for the Initiative, Why? Why didn't they interveen sooner? the question echoed through out his thoughts. James slid his body off of the surface of the desk and proped himself upright ontop of the desk.

His eyes then scanned accross the room to find the source of the gentle humming and conforting embrace he felt as he started to regain his sences. His eyes fell upon Joan, but instead of recoiling he just smilled for a moment then his face then changed to an expression of guilt and fear

"I am sorry for hurting you, Joan" James spoke, his tone comming as a supprise to both him and Joan sitting beside his arm "I just panicked, there is much talk about hatred to mutants who harm others, i was scarred of what may happen" James spoke, his voice starting to tremble as he started to break into a light sob,

James took his gaze off of Joan for a moment and looked to the floor where his blood was reacting to the chemicals, "I know that Mutants are seen as viruses... an illness, the humans of this world would rather distroy the different, rather than try to understand the different, just like how the chemicals are trying to neutralise the living blood cells because they contain mutant genes" James spoke as he returned his gaze to Joan the sobbing had subsided

"I am not free of the hatred here, i see them, looking down at me, their eyes giving me looks of repulsion and despise, You and John are different however, you do not seem to have any loathing towards us mutants" James spoke looking deep into Joan's eyes

Re: Pain and Anguish
With an endearing smile Joan listened to what he had to say, his tone shifting and turning like his emotions as he spoke. It was curious what he said; he was much more entertaining then any of the other humans..

His gaze had turned to her, his chocolate eyes peering deep into Joan's. For the first time Joan actually noticed parts of his eyes where slightly bloodshot, giving them a soft red tint.

Joan:"I pity their repugnance.."

The blonde whispered sympathetically as she placed her hand tenderly on top of James' arm.

Joan:"Because they pass up the chance of meeting such a sweet guy."

Her motherly demeanor shone for a moment as her hand moves from his arm and reached for his chin, the tip of her fingers gently lifting his chin into a more proud posture.

Her eyes studied his face, he looked more of a soldier when he had his chin held up proudly like that, she gave a satisfied smile.

Joan:"You could never hurt me..."

She assured him sternly before hopping off the bench and swooping up a piece of broken glass.

Joan:"...If there's one thing I can give you, it's comfort in knowing this.."

Holding out her palm, placing the glass tenderly against her skin, her smile not once fading as she slowly dragged it across her hand. But before he could react, before her skin had enough time to bleed, it already began to close, instantly healing without a trace of a scar left behind.

Joan:"You can't hurt me."

She took step forward and she carelessly tossed the shattered remains of the glass in her hand aside, listening to it hit the floor as she reached out and looped her slender arms around James arm once more.

Joan:"So when I do this..."

After that she took hold of his hand, her warm fingers softly wrapping around his hand.

Joan:"And this..."

She looked up into his face, her dazzling eyes locking with his as she spoke, her tone almost diplomatic.

Joan:"You're not going to worry for an instant, that you'll hurt me.....because the only way you could possibly hurt me....is by running away again, and making me worry if you're alright."

Flashing another smile as she lifted his hand, gently pressing his knuckles against her chin as she made sure she had his attention.

Joan:"Now....it's late, you're cold, and Jon's worried sick over where you are. Let me escort you back to his room, then you can get some rest, and be ready for tomorrow's assignment."

She lowered his hand, still holding it with her left as her right hand gave it a gentle pat before letting go and walking towards the exit. Once at the hole that James had made his 'doorway', she looked back, holding out her hand for him expectantly as she waited.

Joan:"This is no longer your home, you live with us now, you're our family, and family always looks out for each other. So come little brother, we have a busy day tomorrow."

Re: Pain and Anguish
James looked to Joan, he then slid from the desk, his shoes crushing the glass that littered the floor, James the felt that a great burden had been lifted from him with each fragment off glass that he crushed under each footstep.

He walked towards Joan, his eyes meeting hers, his head came almost level to her's he tilted his mouth so it was close to Joan's ear

"Thank you...." he wispered.

Re: Pain and Anguish
For the first time since she probably was released from her glassy prison so long ago, Joan actually offered a smile that was sincere. She didn't reply, she simply wrapped her arms around his arm and lead him down towards Jon's room.
