It was funny how the simple action of getting ready cleared the mind, focusing thoughts wonderfully on the task at hand. But then the preparation for a mission had always acted like a mantra for Matt, ever since he had first decided to take up the mantle of a crime fighter. Replacing emotion with purpose, fear with anticipation. And tonight was no different. Though the mission certainly was!
Peter had brought the costume to med lab for him. One of many the lawyer had hanging in his….Hmm what would you call it? he wondered. Basement was too banal…lair to melodramatic! Matt somehow had always thought of it as another office. The place where business was carried out! Even if it was business of a very particular kind!
The red leather rolled easily over his muscles as it always did, concealing with consummate ease the bandages that he still wore over his wounded body! That was one of the reasons so called ‘super heroes’ used it in their costumes he supposed. It was lesson he had soon learned when he had embarked upon his career as Daredevil. Spandex gave you the aerodynamics that was for sure. But it clung to each dressing like a lover! And it didn’t turn a knife worth a damn. No it was leather that got the job done. And if you didn’t have the body to look good in it then you shouldn’t have been out there putting your life on the line in the first place. At least that was what he had always told himself!
He, of course, was spared from knowing what he looked like in the costume he so readily put on. Though so far he had had no complaints from anyone who had seen him! Which, in Hells Kitchen, where even people you were rescuing from certain death had attitude to spare, surely had to count for something? Tonight though he didn’t have to worry about his looks! Not where he was going. He didn’t have to strike fear into the hearts of his enemies or even impress a passer by. All he had to do was say ‘Hey this is me. Still alive and kicking! Thanks to you! ‘
It was something he had to do. Something he wanted to do. And yet he was at a loss as to how to do it. Without Ben and Talia that was. Well maybe not. He could always have found his way back to the Morlock’s central chamber and taken things from there. Asked to be shown to the person who had saved his life! For they had certainly done that, and he was the first one to acknowledge that debt! But somehow that would have felt wrong. Necessary of course if there wasn’t any other choice but still…it would sound .as if he hadn’t noticed his saviour even with the maimed senses the attack had left him. Which was far from being the case!
Hurt as he had been, he had still acknowledged the help he had received as best he could. And all the information he had gleaned about the one who had given it to him had also been stored carefully away for further reference. Now Matt ran the elements through his mind as he dressed, trying to form some idea of who was waiting for him at the Morlock stronghold. The scent had been that, not of sweat and heat, but of sweet water and the coolness it brought and the feel…………..smooth and rough at the same time. Scales probably he realised now, though at the time he had been too far gone to make the connection. Not that it would have leapt to mind even upon reflection if he hadn’t had Ben’s information to go on.
Matt smiled as he pulled the red demon mask over his face, hiding his infirmity behind the darkened lenses. It would be good to have some company for this first outing into the big bad world after the attack.Talia would be indispensable as far as transport was concerned of course, though that wasn’t the only reason Matt was glad she was with them. She had after all been the one who had got him out of the sewers in the first place, bringing him to the school. Saving his life! It had been a harrowing experience for her he could tell. Which was why he hoped that this return journey would show her some of the positive fall out that had come from her actions! No, it was appropriate that she should be there and as for Ben….
In all honestly he didn’t think he could have dissuaded Ben from coming even if he had wanted too. The young man didn’t strike him as someone who would leave a job half done or a promise unfulfilled. And it seemed he had promised this aquatic mutant who had rescued Matt that he would pass on the message that a visit would be appreciated. A job he had more than adequately carried out. Still Matt suspected that wouldn’t have been enough for the young mutant.
Ben obviously wanted to be there when the meeting went down and Matt couldn’t blame him for that. If it was his way of thanking the person in the tank for what he had done then so be it. Matt owed Ben big time. He wasn’t going to be the one to stand in his way. Besides it wasn’t a problem. In fact it was a blessing, allowing him the luxury of an introduction to his unknown saviour instead of the awkward searching that would otherwise have been necessary and for that he was truly thankful. As he also was for the knowledge the young man had shared with him as to the mutants unique living conditions..
The whole tank thing had bothered Matt from the moment Ben had told him about it. Certainly it explained why the blind mans crippled senses had failed to locate his benefactor when they had arrived back at the tunnels. But still it hinted at a life style that filled Matt sadness. A handicap that couldn’t be overcome no matter how determined you were. To be confined like that, not by the cruelty of the people around you but rather by your own bodies restrictions. It didn’t seem fair, though until he had encountered the Institute and its possibilities Matt would have been forced to simply accept the fact that nothing could be done to change things.
Now however new horizons had been opened up and he was all too ready to seize them. Surely there had to be something better they could offer this young mutant who had so readily given his assistance to a stranger in need. After all that was what this school was all about wasn’t it? Helping people deal with powers that threatened to dominate their lives? Matt had already touched upon the subject with Hank getting the doctors ready promise to provide any support that might be necessary should the young man wish to try his chances at the Institute rather than down in the tunnels.
It would be quite a decision to make, Matt realised, but still it might be the only chance of leading anything like a normal life that the young man would ever have. And the blind crime fighter was going to make sure he had the opportunity to take it if he wanted to. After all it was the least he could do, a way to pay back some small part of the debt that he owed. *A life for a life!* Matt thought as he straightened up, the transformation from lawyer to Daredevil now complete. *And the first step towards it will be taken as soon as Ben and Talia show up. Which knowing them should be any minute now.* Edited by: HankMcCoy13 at: 11/1/06 2:36 pm
Ben walked the almost silent corridors of the institute lost in thought. So much had happened over the last few weeks that his normally astute mind was having problems keeping up and he felt strangely betrayed by his own intelligence. He had always prided himself in the fact that he could find a logical solution to any problem but it seemed life was trying to knock him down a peg or two by sending things his way that he could not find a way to change.
It even felt as if his own clear cut reasoning was turning against him, for when he had been given the news of Scott Summers’s fatal illness the only logical solution he had been able to come up with was to simply accept it and to be prepared for the worst. But if he did that he felt like he was giving up, even though he knew that he could do nothing to help he did not want to resign himself to fate. And this conflict of interest within him was tearing him apart, for he was trying to protect himself emotionally but struggling with himself morally.
And not only was he doing himself no favours but he was also unable to offer help when it was asked of him. He felt ashamed that he had not been of more help during the team meeting he had just left. But he had seen no way of formulating a workable plan on the small amount of information the fairy had been able to give them. Without the knowledge of why his parents wanted to remove him, Ben had not been able to formulate any strong arguments as to why Scott should not leave. He knew his team had been looking to him for some kind of plan and he felt he had let them down. Which was why he had left the dorm as quietly as possible not wanting to be questioned about where he was going.
As it turned out he was in fact going to attend to something important, all be it something that did not directly require him to be there but he had said he would go and he was not going to start going back on his word as well as being useless. So he made his way into the changing rooms down in the subbasement to collect his X-men suit. He did not know why he wanted to wear it, maybe it was because he needed the reassurance it gave him, a sense of belonging even if he had hit a bad spell in his life.
He put it on under his clothes as he was going to have to make his way to med lab and he did not want to encounter anybody dressed in this distinctive suit. The only thing people might notice was that it looked like he was wearing gloves and a polo neck as his suit covered as much skin as possible to protect him from sudden changes in light intensity while out of missions. He had also brought the glasses Scott had given him and a cap as he would probably have to wear them when he returned to the brightly light institute.
Ben was highly thankful for this suit as it meant that he was not a hindrance to his team during missions and as long as he wore both hat and glasses then he could function normally at all times. He had not suffered a full blown seizure since coming to live in the school he had had some close calls but they were mainly his own fault. For the first time he felt like people understood him and both Taylor and Sean had quickly learned to gives him a few minutes to acclimatise to different light levels. Ben smiled this was the silver lining to his dark cloud. He was only so upset about this string of bad news because he felt accepted here, he had a purpose and he loved being an X-man. Not that his parents or friends had ever really given him reason to feel like an outsider, it was just that there was something more about being in a school full of such different people that made him feel normal yet important.
Like right now he was going to pay a visit to the banished mutants those that hid from the world above, living their lives in the sewers, hiding from humanity. He was going with a well known crime fighter at that, he had been surprised to find that daredevil was a very approachable person that did not consider himself gods gift to the weak but just someone who has the ability to do something to help others and therefore feels that it his duty to do so. And you really had to be dedicated to be able to take a beating like the one Matt had received the week before. The night Ben had spent in the med lab with Peter would stay with him for as long as he lived…
He pushed those memories to the back of his mind not wanting to picture the man he was going to meet as the bruised and broken body they had carried back that Monday night. Matt was fine now and that was all that mattered and Ben was going to be late if he didn’t hurry up. He increased his pace to near a run and covered the rest of the distance reasonably quickly. He slowed once he reached the doors leading to the med lab and regained his breath slightly, it would not do to appear exhausted before they had even set off.
Once he had taken a few deep breaths Ben pushed through the doors and was confronted with the sight that many a criminal dreaded. Matt had adorned his Daredevil outfit obviously a new one as Ben had doubted the last one could be salvaged. It was a nice outfit made out of red leather with a complete face mask. Ben knew he could probably do with one of those because of his sensitivity but he somehow didn’t think he could quite pull it off. He walked up to the crime fighter to make his presence known.
“Hi, I’m not late am I? We had a bit of a team emergency and I lost track of time.”
Re: Paying debts
Another mission? It seemed intense, at least for someone who hadn’t really been involved with many missions at all and the few times she had they all went utterly wrong, the first one resulting in her capture and, though Talia never called it such, it had felt like she had been tortured during that nightmarish period. Followed by the black market selling off mutants to the highest bidder and then the team missions fumble, not to mention Daredevil’s plight. Granted they were all serious and all extreme and surely people would understand her trepid inhibitions towards any further assignments, however it still felt to her as if she were letting people down just by thinking she’d rather not be involved with any more heartache.
After the last trip to the sewers Talia was all the wiser in the sense of attire. No bear foot this time, the furred mutant adorned herself within the cosy comforts of her not so often worn X-men suit to allow her feet to slide into the specially designed foot wear that had been made for her. While offering a thicker cover the sole was still flexible enough that it didn’t hinder her prehensile toes from their proficient grasp too badly at all.
Sleek black leather wrapped perfectly about her body, hugging the curves and bolstering her hidden form which often got lost in the lose free flowing clothes she often wore with only the odd occasion of a snug shirt or two. Talia could never see herself the way some of the guys could when looking at her form, she was too focused on what most focused on and that was how inhuman she looked, what a ‘pity’ that something so slender was so… abnormal in appearance.
A soft sigh came as Talia studied the emptied bottle that sat on her dresser, the scent of Oriental Lilies captured in a crystal bottle and hers to use as much or as little as possible, it was always her favourite. It’d had been a while sitting there, dust had to be removed ample loads of times before, yet not it was more off to the side then usual, sitting comfortably as a decoration instead of an item of use. A new bottle now stood in all it’s glory, waiting for her attention, given to her from a stranger on her birthday. Not that she didn’t know of Daredevil, but she still didn’t know *him* as a person, so it had seemed strange to her. Yet… Talia was proud at the same time, a gloved hand reached out to pick up on the perfume, a flick of her tail moved behind her and a small smile crept on the nurses face, which was framed by indigo hair that cascaded down her shoulders.
Mild yet fragrant, Talia loved it dearly, and it reminded her of her mother too, who had first given Talia the fragrance. A soft application of the delicate scent was made before Talia felt she was able to move on, to face the others who undoubtedly waited for her. A small hop, a bumf sound and explosion of smoke, swirling and purple pink in hues, signalling both her departure from her room and soon her arrival to the Medlab. Graceful feet landing down to the floor with the strong scent of sulphur in the air and the coloured cloud began to fade. Silence followed the nurse as she arrived, golden eyes gleamed towards the two men and yet hesitation denied her a fluid hello. Eyes dipped low to stare at the ground, shyness swelling as she was once again thrown into a group activity that, even after all she had been through, still felt so alien to her.
Re: Paying debts
Ben had been running, his heartbeat still elevated as he pushed open the med lab doors his breathing slightly laboured though he tried hard to hide it. "Hi, I’m not late am I?" he asked anxiously. Daredevil smiled a little at his concern. This was hardly a task where five minutes delay would make the difference between life and death but Ben was too conscientious to be comforted by that. Even if he had a valid excuse for being rushed. “ We had a bit of a team emergency Ben explained and I lost track of time.”
Team emergency? Matt wondered what that had entailed. Ben didn’t sound hurt or distraught just a trifle worried, though the adrenalin pumping through his system at the thought of the mission made that hard to detect.* Am I pulling him away from something important?* Matt asked himself.* Should we maybe put this off to a more convenient time? No.* the crime fighter reasoned *Ben’s sensible enough to know he could ask that if he really needed to stay. If he feels he’s good to go then that’s all that matters.*
“No don’t worry you’re right on time” Matt told him with a smile. “Now all we need is for Talia to turn up and…” There was a soft explosion close by, the choking stench of sulphur suddenly filling the air. Matt was already spinning, his billy club ready to fly, wholly Daredevil now, or as wholly Daredevil as he could be with his powers still maimed and broken.
A foe could take him by surprise certainly, as this one seemed to have, but they would never find him unprepared. He couldn’t afford to be not with his life on the line at every moment. And so he was primed for battle as he always was when he donned the red costume though his senses were already telling him that it was unnecessary; Behind the acrid gas that assaulted his sensitive nostrils, making him cough harshly, the movement tearing at his still sensitive ribs, there was something else. Something sweet and familiar! The unexpected smell of lilies!
“Talia?” With hindsight he should have been expecting something like this, but somehow, although he had been told of her teleporting skills he had never imagined they would manifest themselves quite in this way.* It would have helped if Id been conscious when she brought me back to the Institute* he told himself wryly straightening up from the wary crouch he had dropped into. *At least I wouldn’t have made a fool of myself like this. Though given how I was feeling at the time it was probably just as well I was out of things. Even if I did miss all the special effects.*
”Well you certainly know how to make an entrance” he told her with a grin.” Which is never a bad thing in this business. Now just let me prise my claws out of the ceiling and we can be on our way”
Re: Paying debts “No don’t worry you’re right on time”
Ben was glad that he was not late as it was something he disliked immensely. He knew he had picked up his dislike of being late from his mother for it could not possibly have come from his father who was often late and when combined with Ben’s obsessive need to be organised being late was not something he wanted to let happen. And then there was the way he grew restless when others he was waiting for were late. He knew that he should accept the fact that unexpected things came up and delayed people or even that others were just not as organised as he was, but he just couldn’t help the annoyance he felt when people arrived late.
“Now all we need is for Talia to turn up and…”
But the one thing he knew he did not have to worry about was Talia’s punctuality; even if she was not ready she could still just teleport down in a flash and at least tell him she needed five more minutes. As expected the quiet “bamf” that signalled the nurses arrival occurred even before Daredevil could finish his sentence. However, the crime fighter’s reaction to her arrival was very far from what Ben would have expected. Maybe it was because Ben was so used to Talia’s teleportation powers that he did not see how unsettling her entrances were and because of that he was more than surprised by Daredevil’s protective reaction.
The Darklight mutant was barely able to begin collecting the particles of darklight that surrounded him in order to protect not Daredevil but Talia before the crime fighter suddenly stopped. To Ben it was as if the moment was frozen in time, with the man dressed in red leather so newly recovered ready to let loose a billy club against the woman who had helped rescue him and between the two a wall of darklight only barely visible as it was barely a few particles thick. He knew the shock was written on his face and that his heat was suddenly racing. It was a strange feeling, to realise all of a sudden that even though he had helped save this man’s life, spent an entire night waiting to see if he would survive and then spent an afternoon seeking his advice, that he would be willing to kill him just to protect Talia. Ben finally realised that this was what it meant to be an X-man, your friends and your team would always come first no matter what.
“Talia?”
The hesitation in Matt’s voice revealed to Ben that the crime fighter had simply been taken by surprise by the nurses surprise appearance. Maybe this was what it was like to be a mutant in a world of humans, especially when you took it upon yourself to try and protect others. Was Matt always on guard just waiting for someone to try and kill him?
"Well you certainly know how to make an entrance” he told her with a grin.” Which is never a bad thing in this business. Now just let me prise my claws out of the ceiling and we can be on our way”
Ben relaxed again as Matt quickly made light of the whole situation. The Darklight mutant was not sure how Talia would react to the fact that she had been taken for an enemy and right now he did not feel it was the right time to speculate. So he decided to just agree with Daredevil and get this little expedition underway as soon as possible. He put his bag down by his feet and decided he better explain what he was going to do next before actually doing it as he feared he might shock Talia.
“Ok but before we go you’ll have to give me two minutes to umm well… get undressed. Mind you I am wearing my uniform under this so I promise no streaking.”
Just thinking about running around the med lab naked made him blush and as he set about taking of his everyday clothes he shot Talia a rather sheepish smile.
Re: Paying debts
Med bay… Talia’s safe haven… so few people, so few personal issues, work consumed the area, work, devotion and relentless situations that engulfed a nurse or doctors life if one wasn’t careful. Evidence of that could be seen with Dr McCoy, though at this point Talia wanted such heavy responsibilities, she wanted the chaos of work to take hold of her days and give her a reason to get out of bed and face the day to day chores of being part of a group such as the X-men. It wasn’t like she had an ample load of friends… or even a minute load of friends… who could occupy her time.
There was, however, a sudden invasion into her security center, yellow eyes barely able to catch all the swift sudden reactions from both parties upon her entering the room. The red leathered figure was defensive, as was Ben, but each were defensive over different targets. Furred hands lifted uneasily, preparing to defend herself against attacks, though they hesitated without raising fully, golden orbs peering at Ben’s weak barrier as it formed and then the nurses gaze began shifting between the two males.
“Talia?” Once again Talia looked towards DareDevil, a cautious stillness about her as she stared at him, silent as ever and yet her expression more alive then usual. ”Well you certainly know how to make an entrance” Although the young woman could see the crimefighters smile, she looked over towards Ben, slightly confused as to what he had intended to do. Had Talia not been a telepath, she’d have instantly assumed he was just placing a barrier between them to stop the attack… and in a sense that’s exactly what he did. But… there was something more to his thoughts, something more defensive, more enflamed… Bright eyes blinked closed and turned again to the wounded lawyer as he continued speaking. ”Which is never a bad thing in this business. Now just let me prise my claws out of the ceiling and we can be on our way” Taking a hero such as DareDevil by surprise… Talia felt a little proud, even if it wasn’t intentional and she did feel bad, and of course he wasn’t in his best state, but still, if she wasn’t so taken by surprise she may have even shown a glimmer of a smile at his last comment.
“Ok but before we go you’ll have to give me two minutes to umm well… get undressed. Mind you I am wearing my uniform under this so I promise no streaking.” With another blink, Talia’s gaze had been thrown towards Ben in surprise, she fully understood the need for discretion amongst the school, but the way he addressed it… Talia merely waved an awkward hand to show he was free to go ahead with it, even though he’d already stated. Not the most talkative of people, Talia merely waited for their ready, folding her arms across her front a little awkwardly as she mentally prepared herself for what was to come… and curiously thought over Ben reactions.. surely he wouldn't have really taken on DareDevil himself.. but why did it feel as if that's exactly what Ben had been near prepared to do?
Re: Paying debts
So… Talia had herself a knight in shining armour did she? Now was that just team work or was there something else going on? In any case Ben had leapt to her defence quickly enough even if Matt had no idea exactly what he had been doing. But whatever it had been he had been doing it with all his heart and that was useful to know. Commitment was what counted in a fight. It was what kept you and those around you alive. And Ben had just proved that when it came to the crunch he wouldn’t hesitate to take on the enemy in order to save a friend. Even if the enemy in question came with a hefty reputation! And at least in this case wasn’t really an enemy after all. Which could have lead to some conflict of interests all things considered but hadn’t. Ben had never hesitated for an instant in choosing sides. It had been Talia all the way and to hell with the consequences. And to Matt’s way of thinking that was exactly as it should have been!
Now however the moment had past. Each one was lowering their guard, moving back to the mission at hand with no hard feelings over the misunderstanding. Or at least none that Matt’s senses could detect. And Talia’s silence could hardly be interpreted as a sign that she was mad at him either. *Unless she’s been annoyed since the first time she laid eyes on me* Matt thought with a smile. Ben on the other hand was talking, moving to place something he had apparently ben carrying on the floor before announcing “Ok but before we go you’ll have to give me two minutes to umm well… get undressed.” *Now there’s something you don’t hear every day Well not from another guy at least* Matt told himself mischievously “Mind you I am wearing my uniform under this so I promise no streaking.” Ben hastened to add, his vital signs indicating rising embarrassment as he did so. *Yeah I can see how this would be awkward, especially if his interest in Talia is a more personal one But hey it is pretty amusing from where I’m standing!*
He didn’t let that become obvious though not wanting to make Ben’s situation any more difficult than it already was, and simply waited for the youth to get ready in his own way. Then they would be off! Back down into the sewers for a reunion with the person who had saved his life. A pretty heavy debt to have towards someone and one that a simple thank you didn’t come near to paying Though it was he hoped at least a good place to start.
Re: Paying debts
Ben was relieved that neither Talia nor Daredevil seemed to pay his rather silly remark any real notice. Instead they just waited patiently while he removed the clothes he was wearing over his black X-man uniform. He took each item and made a rather shoddy attempt at folding it before placing it in his back pack. He was hoping to leave it here so that he did not have to carry his clothes through the sewers; he had had a hard enough time getting the grime out of those he had been wearing on that Monday. But he knew it was somewhat risky, for it would be awkward if a younger student was in the med lab when they got back. But as he straightened up and looked at his companions he decided that he might as well leave his things here for if they were going to be seen he figured the guy in the red would be most conspicuous.
That thought made him smile as he pulled out the red quartz glasses that he had been given by Scott. He was putting them on more as a precaution than anything else, for he highly doubted he would be blinded by light in the sewers at night. But you never knew and it would not do for him to have to be carted back to med lab after having had a seizure. There was also a little pouch built into his suit in case of emergencies like that, it contained an epipen. Just enough adrenaline to bring his body back out of shock and allow his team mates to get him to safety… not that any of his team mates knew about it. He decided that he would have to tell them sooner rather than later and explain to them how to give him the hormone.
He knew that both Michael and May would have no problem injecting him with it but he could see that it might be a problem when it came to both Scott and Tess. They were not the kind of people that liked to witness any kind of suffering and it would be asking a lot of them to even consider doing this. But he knew that if he went into anaphylactic shot administering a small injection would be the least of two evils. He sighed, this strange allergy had been his curse since childhood but at the institute he had managed to nearly forget about it. they had provided him with clothes and glasses that gave him maximum protection and all his close friends were really understanding. But it still pained him that he would never be free of this and that he was going to have to admit that the sometimes overconfident king of organisations was going to be a liability.
“Right I’m all set. Sorry for the delay.”
He turned to Talia and smiled at her once again. It was strange, he felt closer to Daredevil dressed like this. They were both covered from head to toe with only the bottom half of their faces showing. Though this dress code was brought about by two different reasons, his was a necessity to keep light at bay and the crime fighter needed to protect who he was. Ben wondered what Talia must be thinking now that she was faced with to men dressed in super hero suits…
Re: Paying debts
As Talia waited her eyes peered off towards DareDevil, hard to tell due to her not have pupils and the fact her face reframed from turning to align with his position in the room made it even harder to guess where her eyes were focused. A tail flickered and again Talia replayed the defensive nature Ben had displayed just moments before… everyone knew about DareDevil, everyone knew how frightened people were of crossing paths with the devil of hell’s kitchen and yet Ben had done so without hesitation… A blush rose slightly in her cheeks but with both colour and fur it made the altered state hard to be seen by the naked eye, no one had ever acted like that for her before, aside from the tough talk from Judas and even then he ended up vanishing and making Talia feel like a fool for having thought he actually liked her.
"Right, I’m all set. Sorry for the delay." Delicate features turned to focus on Ben, a small smiling numbly gracing her lips as if the expression was on autopilot. There was confusion as to why Ben would have been so daft as to brace himself for an attack against DareDevil just to protect Talia, and sure their guest was taken by surprise but the near assault however unintentionally stilled installed a protective backlash from Ben and Talia had to really struggle with her morals to stop any invasion into his thoughts to find out what on earth he’d been thinking to do something so stupid. Most likely he was just a hero at heart… protect the damsel in distress at all cost… it would have been nice to have had him around a year ago when she was first captured, that hadn’t been at all pleasant and what was additionally scary was that she barely remembered much of the horrible encounter at all.
Slender hands raised from her side, the blue tinge of Talia’s fingers reaching for either men, another flick of her tail as she silently waited for them to take hold of her, once they did, she could get them to their destination… Part of the nurse feared the chance of teleporting into someone, or something, she pictured one of the sewer ways as that would lessen the chances of them hitting any forign objects, after all, people moved things around all the time and with the Morlocks moving in and out of their main area the risk of teleporting where someone was standing was still a threat that worried the teleporter. At least she had a mental image in which to settle her nerves somewhat, clinging to that the furred student focused on the situation at hand and the fact that yet again people were actually in need of her… or at least her abilities.
