Phantom microwaver?
My husband, his little sister, his cousin and I came home last night from a rained out camping trip. We were all setting in the living room watching TV when the microwave started running. Lonnie (my husband) went in and turned it off. It had been set for 5 minutes. He set back down and we all talked about how spooky that was. He looked into the Kitchen and was watching the microwave when the #5 button beeped and the auto start began running again. Lonnie had to unplug the microwave to get it to stop.

The two girls (12 and 17) freaked out and refused to go to the guest room or the bathroom (you have to go through the kitchen to get to them) without somebody with them. On top of that my cat ,SPAT, began running around the house and stopping in the kitchen meowing for the better part of the night. We finally got the girls calmed down and they went to bed.

We plugged the microwave in this morning and so far nothing has happened. Last night that when we hurried to shut the windows when it was raining, a picture of my recently deceased father-in-law (Carl) got knocked off the wall. It was after that when the microwave started running. Was Carl asking us to fix the picture? What do you think??

Wow Gina... that is a very strange story.

The strangest thing, to me, is the fact that Lonnie was watching the microwave from the other room... "when the #5 button beeped and the auto start began running again".

That is just plain "spooky." :eek

Can't say for certain what was causing the mysterious events in your home last night ... but, I would definitely try to pay close attention to any other anomalous occurrences, and see how they might be somehow related.

Yes, I imagine, there is always a chance that it may be a deceased relative (like Carl) trying to get in touch with you... but, until more evidence is collected and more events are witnessed, you will just have to chalk this one up in the "unknown" category for the time being.

Please keep us posted on any news, okay.

Gary

Oh yeah... one more thing.....

You mentioned that your cat was acting strange and meowing in the kitchen.... I wanted to add:

Animals are very "aware" of spirits and seem to "sense" their presence quite easily.

So, it might be a good idea to keep an eye on the kitty, and see if she starts acting strange in a certain room (like the kitchen) more than others. The idea is that, perhaps, the kitty will be able to let you know what area of your home the spirit (if indeed it really is a ghost) is manifesting.

Again, please keep us posted....... ;)

Just an update. The conclusion we came up with was that the Microwave is fried. It wasn’t on a serge protector and may have been zapped by the storm. The Cat, however, has been chasing “things” a long time. Both is this house and the previous house we lived in. We lived just down the street from a funeral home and on several occasions when there was a funeral, HE would set staring at our front door. Now, we live down the block now from a City cemetery and he often stares out at it at night. He sees those things that makes the hair stand up on your neck when you go by at night. He sometimes drives my husband nuts with it.

You know, if I were you I would keep a camera around and when that cat acted weird I would try taking some pictures the direction the cat was focused. Could be nothing, but then again.....
