Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?(I think it's the last weds before the attack, I'll have to post the thread between Porter and Meshel but I forgot it at home -cries-)
"Eliza, has there been a girl there looking for me?" Porter sat the steps to the dorms, he didn’t need to go down them, but it was good a place as any to call his sister from, the phone was simple, Porter didn’t use mobiles much but still had one on him in case his sister of foster parents needed to get in contact. "You wouldn’t believe what happened," he sounded relieved at the fact no one had been there looking for him, but a strange irritation filled his voice as he continued on, "I was in medbay right,-" of course she’d ask why he was down there, he hesitated for a moment, "I tripped down the stairs and sprained my ankle," he lied smoothly, but his voice was somewhat flat, it was the story he was going with and while Talia had her telepathy, Eliza had her years of experience and so Porter wasn’t too surprised by her lack of belief towards his comment. "But I was in there, and this girl came looking for me just after fifth period finished," he stressed as if that was a big deal, "She was completely weird, and pushy, and she sat on my bed," the twin stated irritably, "started going on about wanting to have lunch with me tomorrow and how much she loved my eyes… she asked if I was born with them," at that comment it was as if Porter expected that alone was reason enough to find the girl weird, but if his sister had any comments Porter ploughed on unhappily in a rant.
"And then she started going on about Arisa, like she was jealous, like I’m gong to find one of Arisa’s fingers in a bloodied paper bag as a warning should I mention her around this girl," Exaggeration, perhaps, but Porter never liked anyone acting as if Arisa was somehow annoying to them, especially if it was because Porter was close to her. "And at some point she had her hand on my leg, and then she was kissing me on the cheek, and she was completely weird, and then insisting I think about going out with her, and at some point she was also holding my hand," he was rambling, he wasn’t one to usually ramble on, hell, he wasn’t one to freak out over a girl usually either though, "and whenever she leaned over she’d basically fall out of her top, you could see right down-" there was a pause as he realized that probably wasn’t something Ellie needed, or wanted, to know, "She was so pushy," came the breathless ending, though thinking back to the string of blurted out words Porter wondered if Ellie had even listened to half of what he’d said… he’d seen some people hold their phone away from their ears and talking with someone else or going back to whatever they were doing. It wasn’t like his sister, not unless he was being really obnoxious and bad and she just couldn’t take it any more… and even then…
Of course, Porter could walk down the hall and be face to face with his sister in a few minutes, but he was still deciding if he should go back to the med bay and spend the night there or not. It wasn’t like the bruises and sprain wouldn’t heal on their own, but Talia was right in the sense it was better to have them heal quicker on the beds then slowly as they would if done naturally.
Eliza was sat at her desk in the room that had been allocated to her in the team dorms, she was staring hard at a piece of Math homework that she just could not make sense of. Who needed equations anyway? It was not like she had decided what she wanted to do with her life yet but she was sure that it would not involve math if she could help it. She put down the pencil and leant back against the chair; maybe she should go and grab something to eat? She was just about to give in to her sweet tooth and head for the kitchen when the mobile phone she had left on the side of her bed began to vibrate.
Curious as to who was calling she went over and picked it up glancing at the called ID as she did so. Darren… this was probably going to be something really trivial if her twin could not even be bothered to come all the way to her room to ask her. With a small sigh she answered the phone.
"Eliza, has there been a girl there looking for me?"
So much for hello, her brother could be seriously lacking in manners sometimes. Despite her annoyance she told him that no one had come looking for him, at least no one that she was aware of. She did not keep tabs on all of the girls that hung around looking for her oh so annoying brother, as she had found them all exceedingly annoying. Besides she was still angry at him for blowing her off to spend time with Arisa.
"You wouldn’t believe what happened,"
He was right there she probably wouldn’t, nor did she really care. He was probably going to tell her the most absurd story that he had blown completely out of proportion and half made up. But it was her duty to listen to him and to be honest anything had to be better than that math’s problem.
"I was in medbay right,- I tripped down the stairs and sprained my ankle,"
Her eyebrow rose at this statement, the pause indicated a complete lie but she could not really be bothered to question him about why he had really been down in med lab, probably something to do with Arisa, so she let it slide.
"But I was in there, and this girl came looking for me just after fifth period finished,"
She smiled he had barely finished lying to her that he was already feeling guilty, and she was well aware that he knew she didn’t believe a word of his phoney excuse. The rest of his sentence however, made her roll her eyes. Her brother had actually always been quite popular with the lady’s but because he did not feel happy in his own skin he just couldn’t believe that other people could find it attractive.
"She was completely weird, and pushy, and she sat on my bed, started going on about wanting to have lunch with me tomorrow and how much she loved my eyes… she asked if I was born with them,"
The way he brother told the story revealed much about her twin’s personality. First he did not like people he did not know to invade his personal space so that girl should feel lucky she survived sitting on the same bed as Darren. And usually Darren liked to be the one to do the asking even though he was terrible at it, like a bull in a china shop; it gave him a sense of control over the situation. She could however see how the last bit had rubbed her brother up the wrong way, he was sensitive about his appearance and asking whether or not he had been born with those eyes did not help because he probably wondered if she had been asking if they had been caused by some freak accident or something. Not good.
"And then she started going on about Arisa, like she was jealous, like I’m gong to find one of Arisa’s fingers in a bloodied paper bag as a warning should I mention her around this girl,"
This brought the smile back to Eliza’s lips, she wondered if her twin realised that some days she felt like sending him one of Arisa’s fingers if he mentioned her again as well. But this was probably not the way forward if you were trying to win his affections.
"And at some point she had her hand on my leg, and then she was kissing me on the cheek, and she was completely weird, and then insisting I think about going out with her, and at some point she was also holding my hand, and whenever she leaned over she’d basically fall out of her top, you could see right down-"
Eliza had a hard time keeping up with all the information that was being thrown at her something about this girl basically groping her brother and her being a slut. That was how her brain interpreted her brother’s words, it was strange normally a teenage boy dreamed of a girl like that showing up and basically forcing themselves on them. It seemed however that her brother was more innocent than he let on and unless he felt in total control of the situation he could not cope with the idea of intimacy.
“What do you want me to say… she sounds like a slag to me.”
Which was true, she sounded like the kind of girl that was out for a bit of fun no real strings attached. It was not the way she would choose to behave but some people did and it was their choice.
“Do you even like her or does she just creep you out completely? If you like her maybe you should let her know that she’s being to forward if not then just avoid her as much as possible, she’ll probably get bored and go away.”
That was her best advice, and now that she had gotten that out of the way she really wanted to know where her dearest brother was and what had really happened to make him go to med bay.
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?(Thought I had posted this a while ago... <.<..) "What do you want me to say… she sounds like a slag to me." And Ellie had a point, and Porter may find her attractive, but that didn’t stop her from being utterly freaky. Though of all people, Ellie would always be one to scream slut if a girl seemed to just drape herself over someone, she wasn’t easy, and that was good, as far as Porter’s nerves went… He’d hate having to chase off a horde of guys, the more exposed to males his twin sister was, the more risk she was of getting her, and if she got hurt, he’d kick up a fury on whoever hurt her. It was strange going to her with problems though, he sometimes went for advice, but it wasn’t something he liked to discuss or enquire about more then what felt absolutely necessary.
"Do you even like her or does she just creep you out completely? If you like her maybe you should let her know that she’s being to forward if not then just avoid her as much as possible, she’ll probably get bored and go away." Quietly he fidgeted with his shoelaces as he sat on the other end, her question should have been obvious, he thought it would be obvious, and yet there was a hesitance as he thought over her question, he actually had to think about it! "Where are you anyway?" Porter’s eyes glanced down the hall towards the dorms room, she was averting his ranting session with a detour to … well it had had to be a spying session, she’d have otherwise directed the conversation somewhere specific… This was her… doing the subtle thing she does…
"I’m just… on my way to the dorm now," There was no unsteady voice which would suggest he was walking, but it wasn’t entirely a lie either… he liked keeping his pride, and yet he hated not being honest with his sister… Twisting the truth always seemed the greyness between black and white, and yet that didn’t make him feel any better, even if he stuck with his partial lie. Fingers lightly reached to touch the swell bruising his brow on his right eyebrow, the cut hadn’t bled much, but it still was noticeable… it only occurred just then that for once it wasn’t really his fault, nor the fault of the jerks who had irritated him. For once it was an accident, a real one, even if provoked by those stupid idiots who… Porter wasn’t even sure what their names were. He sighed and moved towards the dorm room, dragging himself up and going towards the Gen X dorm hall with a sense of weight pressing down on his shoulders.
"I just thought I’d call ahead, you know… to avoid running into that weirdo…. I’ll see you inna moment Ellie," Because he wanted to avoid Meshel… didn’t he? She was weirdo, no question about that, and he definitely was crept out by her… and yet, maybe there was something superficial about his interest, she was a freak creature of lust and… she was totally creepy, that’s all that was to it, and he would not succumb to male stupidity. The phon was shut off and Porter limped towards the door in as fluid a motion as he could. If there was ever one person who could pin him down with a stare it was his sister, she could twist his arm without touching him… It so wasn’t fair. Then again, he had his own leverage against her, his own abilities over her; it just never seemed to matter when he felt he really needed it… sometimes Porter wondered if she ever felt the same.
Quietly Porter slipped into the dorm, and as he moved towards his sister’s room Porter had a sudden urge to run off and grab a chocolate bar from somewhere… ransack a students room, the other dorms, something that might help improve Ellie’s mood. Not that he knew for sure if Ellie was going to be angry or not, he just assumed it… not that she always got upset with him, he just always seemed to feel as if more people were always annoyed with him then anything else. Even if he was actually not trying to be annoying! Ok, fair enough that there were possibly more times that he didn’t care to make the effort… but that was only because he seemed to come across so many morons that didn’t deserve his effort.
There was no defence against Ellie, there was no defence against her gaze, her own power of observation. But it wasn’t his fault this time, it really wasn’t! But that look she got, it was like she was disappointed every time… Meshel’s words haunted him for moment, quizzing why she’d be disappointed in him. "Why would your sister be disappointed in you? You are such a good guy…" Part of Porter could almost see Ellie scoff… if she would in reality or not Porter wasn’t at all sure, not about this, this was different to being her brother, her other half in a manner only twins could be… This was something so much worse, he’d never heard her back up Porter as being a ‘decent guy’ or a ‘good guy’ or any sort of guy other then the annoying one.
"Ellie…?" He knocked the door lightly, only by luck having the side of his face that wasn’t damaged more noticeable to her as he opened the door just a creak, "Want to grab something with me… I might eat now and skip dinner later," He could say it’s because he’s tired… but even Porter knew it was because it’d be easier to sleep then to have the others ask him how it happened.
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked? "I’m just… on my way to the dorm now,"
Ellie heard the slight hesitation in her twin’s voice and wondered what he was really up to. She knew however that he would now actually be on his way to the dorms. He didn’t like to lie to her it made him squirm so if he said he was headed her way then that was probably the case. With a small sigh, Ellie decided that her dreams of chocolate spread and brioche were going to remain just that… dreams. She settled herself down on the bed and as her brother made more excuses for his strange behaviour decided to wait for him.
What had he done now, it was not the first time Darren had landed himself in med bay and she had no doubt that today would not be the last either. But she hated it when he refused to tell her what had happened; he had a way of beating around the bush that drove her insane. But then she never liked to hear the real reasons behind Darren’s “accidents”. As the explanation usually always started with “well this guys called you…” or “someone made an inappropriate comment about your colour”. Her brother’s inability to accept their skin colour made him violent, and a lot of the time he did it claiming to be defending her… when she didn’t feel the need to be defended. She didn’t mind being different, she just wished he could feel the same way.
The door to the main part of the dorm opened and closed and Ellie almost held her breath as she listened to her brother’s footsteps come closer. What was he going to say this time? How bad was it going to be? What should she do? Be angry? Ashamed? Sad? She had so many questions and no answers to any of them. So she stilled herself and waited, he had sounded fine on the phone and he was coming to speak to her; all of these were good things so she should try and be happy that he was confiding in her… shouldn’t she?
"Ellie…?"
The knock came right on queue. And then the door opened a fraction letting her catch just the smallest glimps of her brother. He looked wary and almost questioning and her heart sank, she wanted to go and give him a hug like she used to when they were children. She couldn’t really anymore, now he needed another kind of support from her, belief in him and the promise that she would always stand by him.
"Want to grab something with me… I might eat now and skip dinner later,"
She knew that the way in which she answered his almost uninterested question meant the world to her brother right now. So she composed herself and sat up slowly making sure that she kept eye contact with him, all the while she kept it a non threatening non judgmental look. The last thing she needed now was for him to think she was either angry or infuriated in any way.
“Sure you caught me out in the middle of one of my guilty chocolate quests…. Regrettably I never made it to the kitchen.”
She had made the statement about her, and deliberately avoided asking anything about him… or where he’d been. Now she knew that she could not avoid asking all the difficult questions that were bound to come up but she could at least put off asking them until Darren had relaxed a little.
“Right do you want me to cook something or shall I port us somewhere?”
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?"Sure you caught me out in the middle of one of my guilty chocolate quests…. Regrettably I never made it to the kitchen." Either a really good thing or a really bad thing in general, catching his sister in the peak of a craving, if he joined her then they could raid things together… if he however tried to interrupt and get in her way well then he might as well be a deer in front of a truck if he wasn’t careful. Sometimes it seemed a chocolate bar was more interesting to her then his latest news on Arisa or some punks who thought themselves so smug. It was simple to tell that that Ellie wasn’t going to strangle information out of him, or storm off, or do anything that would be exceedingly upsetting, if she was she’d have done it by now. Roll her eyes, walked off
"Right do you want me to cook something or shall I port us somewhere?" Getting out and about might cheer him up, though the thought was crushed with worries about his holo-emitter, Talia had kept it with her so he would go back to talk to her instead of brushing things off as he had done in the past. Then again, he wasn’t so blind as to not have noticed his sister never liked it when he went out there and hide away what he really looked like, especially if she was there with him. It wasn’t sure, but didn’t she see it was safer? Of course she did, but she was stronger or braver or something, Porter just really didn’t want to have to put up with what trash was thrown their way.
"You don’t have to go to any trouble sis," He gave a light smile to her, wanting her to know he appreciated to offer, "I was just going to see if we had leftovers…" But what if she wanted to go out with him? "Unless you feel like heading out, I don’t mind really, I just wanted to spend some time with you," And god if that meant heading out there and socializing in the kitchen or heading out to the public eye with her… well if she wanted to do it he’d go, it wasn’t like Porter loved always eating on his own, it just seemed easier.
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?
Ellie waited as Darren mulled over her offer. She caught is nervous glance towards his left arm, towards the place where he normally wore his holoemitter… she also noticed that it was missing. Now that was unusual to say the least, Darren never went anywhere without it. He wore it as a security blanket, as something to hide behind if things got bad. Maybe it had gotten broken? Or someone had taken it off him against his will? That would explain his need to go to med lab, she pondered the various scenarios that could have led to her brother losing his most precious possession. Whatever had happened it could not be a good thing.
It also meant that going out for dinner was out of the question, he was obviously upset enough without her adding to it by dragging him out. She was well aware of the fact that he would rather walk over broken glass that go out in New York looking the way he did now. So she let it drop and instead turned her mind to things that she could throw together in the dorm kitchen.
"You don’t have to go to any trouble sis, I was just going to see if we had leftovers… Unless you feel like heading out, I don’t mind really, I just wanted to spend some time with you,"
She couldn’t help but smile, Darren had formulated the perfect sentence. Firstly it made sure to acknowledge her offer then it made sure that she didn’t feel pressured into anything. Once that was done he had made sure to take into account her feelings and preferences and finally he had paid her a compliment. All in all it was perfect, he knew her so well… how to get the best out of her and how to make sure that she wouldn’t bit his head off for being rude or selfish.
“Well I recon you won’t find many leftovers in the fridge as I’d be willing to bet you’ve eaten them all already.”
She loved teasing him, it lightened the mood and made her feel closer to him. Like she was the only one that knew him this well and that she was the only one that could say these things to him and get away with it. Besides she was fairly sure that she was right on this one, he probably had eaten all the leftovers already.
“I bought a fajita kit the other day, I’ll make that up. I’m in the mood for something spicy.”
Now that she though of it she really was, so now was a good a time as any to make some dinner.
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?
A smile, it was a good sign, a calming sign, one that promised a chance of avoiding an argument right off the bat. For once it really wasn’t his fault and it wasn’t a fight that got him these sores and bruises, ok sure it could have led to it had he not tripped, but still… Porter hated it when his sister of all people got angry with him for something that he felt wasn’t his fault at all. But then again, everyone was like that really, just in varying degrees.
"Well I recon you won’t find many leftovers in the fridge as I’d be willing to bet you’ve eaten them all already." So it was a meal out there, Porter was already drawing in a slight breath as he wondered where she’d want to go and how packed it might be or how far they might have to travel. If it wasn’t bad enough with Porter’s late night habit’s then Arisa’s quick metabolism was murder for food, she made a habit of not eating everything, but once Porter finished off whatever she left behind then there was very little for the others to scavenge. Maybe this was a hint that he ought to stop eating so much… most of his diet seemed focused on snacks between meals, there were the occasions he’s been teased it’s a miracle that he’s not twice his size.
"I bought a fajita kit the other day, I’ll make that up. I’m in the mood for something spicy." They were eating in? The relaxed smile that came to life upon her brother’s violet hued lips was hint enough that he liked the idea and was well enough impressed with the thought. Porter stepped aside and allowed her to move past him and lead the way towards the kitchen with him in tow.
"I know there are juices and all that in the fridge for us, but I have soda’s if you’d like me to grab some, all the favourites…some raspberry cordial too… and I might have some fruit mixes as well from last time," The ‘last time’ was in reference to when they moved into the team dorms and Porter bought a stash of mixed drinks that had a light touch of alcohol to them. He wasn’t a heavy drinker, though there had been a phase where he drank more, it seemed to be over with since he could store drinks in his room for a while and might just end up offering it to his sister or another friend if it hanged around too long untouched. While it was frowned upon to have beers and the like in their fridges, a slightly blind eye was turned towards mixes as long as it wasn’t over done and taken in small doses during celebrations. Sometimes it seemed like Porter could store as much food in his room as the group could store in their friend, he was also known to have a seemingly never ending supply of sweets, chocolates, chip packs or biscuits on hand.
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?
Mixed emotions overcame Eliza as she watched the relief flood her brother’s features. She was glad to see him relax but also sad that it was because she was allowing him to hide himself away. Some thing never changed… maybe she should stop hoping that they would. She turned her attention to the fajita kit she was opening, tonight was about Darren’s problems not about the unspoken hurt he was causing her. So she listened as he listed all the drinks he had so proudly hoarded, with an almost sad smile on her lips. Fruit juice, cordial, or soda? Maybe some cordial would be good, nice and refreshing so as to take the edge of the spices in the chicken. That reminded her that maybe she should add some fresh cream cheese or something to them to cool them down…
“Bring the cordial and some sodas if you fancy them…” Came her absent minded reply to his statement.
She brought out the chicken from the fridge and laid it on the chopping board. In reality she hated cutting chicken, it always sent her fingers all numb and it really did not have an appealing texture. But fajitas just wouldn’t be the same with beef, some she would just grin and bare it. As her body was occupied preparing their meal her mind turned to trying to find the most diplomatic way of bringing up the subject of the incident that had obviously befallen her brother. She couldn’t just charge right in and confront him… so she would have to find something else… then it hit her she knew exactly how to broach this.
“So what did you say to that crazy girl from earlier to make her clobber you round the head?”
Even if he did not want to talk about whatever had happened, she had given him an out in the form of the girl he had previously mentioned. If this didn’t get it out of him she would have to just drop it for the evening and try her luck tomorrow when things weren’t so raw.
OOC: read the thread between him and meshel. If you need Eliza to gatecrash their “date” then I’m good to go whenever.
Re: Porter ... From Teased to Stalked?
Sometimes it was easier when his sister didn’t care, and yet Porter wondered how he would act to that, to the thought that no matter what she just didn’t really care. It would make the world so much lonelier then it already was... In his room Porter allowed a deep sigh to escape, he loved his sister and yet always felt so pressured around her, as if nothing he did was ever right. Secretly Porter knew he was difficult to live with and deal with on a daily basis, but they were siblings, surely things were supposed to be easier than this.
Quietly gathering a few cans of choice, Porter trailed back into the Dorm’s kitchen, watching his sister at work on the food they were to share. The magenta boy looked awkward in his stride as Porter semi-limped from the hurt of his earlier fall, and as he placed selection of four cans down, one pair an alcoholic juice mix and the other just sodas, Eliza’s twin scooped up his lemon soda can and pressed it gently against the swell of the bruise on his face. “So what did you say to that crazy girl from earlier to make her clobber you round the head?” Came his sister’s question, cleverly formed and gently put forth so not to get Porter’s back up, not that her brother noticed really, he gave a shrug at first in reply.
"She wasn’t even around when I fell," He began, pearl eyes closed as comfort was found in the cold embrace of the can against the soreness of his cheek. "But she was there when I woke up... and she was really pushy, like overboard nice, scary nice... in your face nice," Her brother carried on before managing to catch himself, the look of discomfort seen on the strangely marked features, "Carrying on about my eyes and... it was just really weird, and the way she kept looking at me," A soft groan came out at the memory, his body inched closer to the bench where his sister was working, leaning his side against it and resting the can down so that Porter could clearly see Ellie’s face. "She expects me to meet her in the hall tomorrow, and she said it as if should i not be there, she’ll hunt me down," He didn’t get some girls, than again that wasn’t normal for a guy wasn’t it? Most girls tended to be a mystery, in fact if you could say you understood one well enough then you had the advantage on more than half the male population. "What do you think I should do?"
