July Flight Report
The following flights listed were flown by me throughout the month of July. No problems to report on any of them. The flights were all flown on Microsoft's FS2002 using high-altitude routing, real-time weather, and turbulence. FS2002 is an incredible simulator and the various planes are a blast to fly. I rate FS2002 and X-Plane as a tie. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Low cloud and rain made landing difficult. Add to that a faulty ILS and this meant two missed approaches before a

Had repairs carried out and took off later. No problems

After take off I lost starboard engine. Managed to restart
but after that throttle stuck in one place. Decided to
continue to Lihue and landed successfully. This plane needs
looking at

Flight report July 2002

HI 95 Kona Lihue, 747-400 PS1, 236NM, TOW 575186, fuel burned 24962lbs, time flown 1 hour 4 minutes. Notes: I had to ignore illogical ATC instructions both on take-off and approach!

HI 189 scenic flight from Lihue. Piper Malibu Mirage (FLY! simulator), altitude 3000-5000ft, VFR, 43 minutes. Take off from PHLI, Princeville, Na Pali coast, Barking Sands, Waimea canyon up and down again, SOK VOR, ILS approach and landing at Lihue.

HI 81 Lihue Honolulu; 747-400 PS1; 91NM, FL120; 8157lbs fuel burned; 31 minutes.
Part of the flight, including take-off, climb, approach and landing, was conducted manually (first time on this simulator!). With a good help from autothrottle. Safe flight and very smooth landing.

VIP chartered flights between St.Moritz LSZS and Milan Malpensa LIMC. LSZS is 5600ft high and runway lenght is just 6562ft: I checked the 747-400 perfomance on the PS1 simulator manuals and planned fuel load and weights, so that a safe take-off and landing could be accomplished. It did, the millionaires were very satisfied and paid the stratospheric ticket.

NOTES: VFR Flight. Twice, during cruise aircraft slightly overspeeded due to wind changes. Low fuel in descent, cross-feeded because of low right tank fuel. IRS had drifted. Used the terrain as a visual cue to find Honolulu. Autolanded, did not use reverse thrust, used autobrake 2. During taxi to gate, a complex junction of taxiway caused extreme vibration as we passed over it at 20 knots.

July flight report/probation flight
HI 300 KJFK direct KBOS.
Chocks away 1751 zulu, Weather 5500 scattered 14000 broken Visability
8miles 29C dewpoint 21 wind 190 at 10. Flight took 39 minutes burning
approx 5.8 tonnes of fuel in my trusty 747-400.
The flight was generally uneventful, FL330 with a ground speed of 486
kts with the exception off a go-around due to a fault with auto-land.
Weather at KBOS was as follows; 4000 scattered 8000 scattered 3 miles
Vis 22C dewpoint 20C wind 080 at 9.
Due to malfunction with autoland i hand flew the bird down the ILS and
landed without incident.
