NOTES: VFR Flight. During takeoff, plane would not keep to centerline and was trying to go to the right during V1 & VR. N2 & EGT readouts were in yellow, rotated briefly to 25* pitch up, then returned to normal climb. Low fuel warning after reaching top of climb, activated crossfeeding. While turning to final approach course things started happening quickly. From intercepting localiser to touchdown took just 4 mins. Rough autolanding and quick deceleration.

Flight report September 2002

HI 652 Milan Malpensa LIMC Geneva Cointrin LSGG Paris Charles De Gaulle LFPG ; aircraft A320, 364NM ; 13492lbs fuel burned, 1 hour 12 minutes total flight time. Automatic flight of MCDU-programmed route, real weather. Excellent view of the Alps on the Milan – Geneva leg.

HI 656 Milan Rome, 747-400 PS1 simulator, 289NM, 41667lbs fuel burned, 53 minutes.
This was not a boring flight! Soon after reaching cruise, a problem at door entry 2 left caused an altitude altert: I quickly descended to FL150 then gradually to FL120 and 80 as oxigen reserves extinguished. Then I had problems with hydraulic system 3, but it sufficed to turn related engine driven pump OFF and demand pump ON to overcome it, even if some problems with speedbrake persisted. On final, a fuel imbalance problem necessitated in-flight shut down of engines 2 and 3, resulting in the loss of autothrottle and execution of the 2-engines landing maneuver. A safe landing concluded what was more similar to a type-rating check, than a routine shuttle flight.

HI 657 Rome Milan, 747-400 PS1 simulator, 299NM, 13500lbs fuel burned, 55 minutes.
This time I had to afford cabin smoke during flight preparation, engine 1 shut down during cruise, loss of hydraulic system 2 on final, with loss of autopilot and manual ILS landing, and wind-shear on short final. Speed brake and antiskid were unoperative. And it was an overweight landing, too. I am really getting smart through emergencies, but I fear that maintenance engineers will kill me!

HI 665 Milan LIMC London Heathrow EGLL, 747-400 PS1 simulator, 559NM, 32408lbs fuel burned, 1 hour 22 minutes. Procedures revisited during this flight were: bleed overheat, hydraulic system 3 loss, engine 4 shut-down and related consequences (anti-ice, thrust reverse, autopilot L loss). Also, weather at destination was poor. Anyway the major problem was landing without thrust reverse (eng 3 reverse unavailable and engine 4 shut-down) to avoid asymmetric thrust reversing; I applied MAX AUTO brakes and the landing run was correctly stopped without overheating the brakes.
