Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
A sigh.
With energetic pace that would have been unimaginable for her just a few weeks, even some days ago, the Gold Strike Force’s leader Ororo Munroe, also called Storm, entered the War Room. Matching what was to come, the weather witch wore her combat outfit; a new one in fact. What had happened in the Renaissance Hotel, this mirror of her inner self that she had once again been dragged in front of, it had revealed to her the truth about what she had thought to have overcome long ago.
There was still a struggle going on inside of her, one that possibly would never end until either her powers would fade as they had for her alternate universe self… or she would lose the fight. It was indeed difficult, sometimes too difficult to contain this elemental force without going past the limits, without misusing it to its full incredible extend.
Plain black leather with thin white stripes over her shoulders and at the sides of her upper legs all of them forming ovals that underlined her figure, yet lacked the dramatic effect the white costume or her earlier ones had had although there still was a dark cape attached to it that flew back whenever Storm walked a little faster.
Another sigh.
Ororo found it strange how the War Room’s electronic doors always seemed to be depressed; a ridiculous thought for her yet one that kept on occurring when the slide doors moved with a quiet moan. She herself was in a rather good mood though, bursting with anticipation as the weight of the well-filled folder under her arm reminded her of what news she had to tell.
This would something totally different to what they used to have for training purposes and without the headache, it promised to be a revealing experience, hopefully making the GSF a true team. There had been made massive changes in the line-up, leaving only Madison and Anna from the original team. The windrider was considerably skeptical, especially since most of those who had joined were new to the Institute… but maybe this was a chance to start anew; start off with a well-working team if the upcoming mission would turn out to be successful in the one or other way.
She would see. Fortunately, those times when there had been only two teams had passed so the heavy burden the X-Men had to carry was a little lighter for the individual those days.
And so she waited…

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
It wasn't like Frostbite to be on time for anything at all, she usually trailed in at some point five or so minutes into the meeting or class. But she never came late any more to team missions, that unfortunately was all that had been able to change for her, she liked Storm but that didn't stop her from making things difficult when it came to partnering up with Madison Enright.
And there was no hiding the fact that Anna was upset over all the other members either pulling out of the team, leaving the school, some other weak lame excuse on why they couldn't stay. Pathetic rift-raft just wasted time, now Frost has to learn new names of unimportant people and make sure they understand she is NOT their friend. What's the point in having teams if people aren't going to stick with them, stupid simple minded weaklings don't know how to handle the life of an X-men.
Working on your own is the only way you can get a job done right, people get in the way, and stupid people are even worse, and it was just Frost's luck that more then half the institute was filled with idiotic people that are the embodiment of STUPIDITY.
The tapping of her white knee-high boots slowed as she approached the door where another girl was rather nervously waiting. Angela didn't know the place, and even if she did she still was nervous about entering strange rooms, she always worried that shed walk into the wrong room and make a humiliating scene. The sight of the nervous girl just irritated Frost further as she groaned and rolled her eyes, the attitude of the girl approaching Angela hadn't made her feel any better.
"Another wimp.. perfect.. who are you? Angela Clarice or Salamon." She didn't care to even bother pronouncing Salamon's first name, the brown eyes of the other girl stared over at Frost, but the lack of instant response annoyed Frost enough to simply mumble a 'what ever' and enter the room abruptly. The door slid shut and Angela remained outside, quickly looking away with the distinct desire to hurriedly bolt off down the hall where she was safe from any further humiliation. She never did well in school, well that wasn't true... she was an A+ student for the first few months and then gradually would get worse as the year progressed and her attention and motivation wandered.
Frost slumped down into one of the seats, not at all feeling bad for the way she spoke to the girl outside, Frost didn't have time for sympathy, she did what she did and there was no time for regrets. Besides, she had more important things to do, her body sitting so it was facing the door for once would hint that she wanted to be noticed.. the picture on her new white shirt would hint she wanted Madison to notice her. That is, if people could see what she was wearing, Frost had zipped her white leather jacket up before entering the room since Wolverine had told her off earlier that day.
Her new t-shirt had a image of Madison behind bars looking wretched as ever with Michael's life in her hands, but she made sure not to include the wounded boy - Frost told herself she didn't want Madison to be thought some kind of hero, but in truth she didn't also want to make it seem as if she was teasing Michael for being wounded so badly or if she was trying to ruin his not even developed reputation.
She unzipped her jacket but kept his close about her, waiting for Madison to enter before she opened it by casually stretching enough to reveal the picture on her front. It was strange, she also had short white leather pants, and although everything was designed by her or the school to be resistant to freezing temperatures, Anna seemed to enjoy showing off her body, even though she didn’t like people being near her or touching her. It got a few guys in trouble who dared to have wandering hands when sitting near her, you can usually tell when someone got too close to Frost since they'd yell in pain and usually have frost burns.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
There weren’t many things that Madison liked and team meetings had to be yet another she detested. Of course, Madison understood why she was on one of the school teams, she was a strong mutant and if you wanted a strong team you’d have to have the best. You don’t get strong teams from trust and junk like 'team bonding'! Besides, if she wasn’t placed on a team Madison would have demanded that she be part of one. It wasn’t for being with a group of others to gain new friends, or anything else like that, if everyone else was going to be put on, including the variety of weak mutants, she saw no reason in why they should be on teams and she couldn’t!
Though, there could be one reason why she would not be placed on a team, that was if she hadn’t of been anyway. She could absorb other mutants’ powers and use them with ease. It had only just taken a majority of her life to realise that this power was another strength of hers that she could use to her liking as she rarely used that power wanting to focus on controlling her claws, which she still didn’t have full control of, and building her strength. At least she knew that now and from that make herself stronger. So really, why bother making a team when Madison could have the powers of her teammates?
Even with that thought always lingering somewhere in her mind, Madison found herself making her way to the first meeting of the Gold Strike Force in quite some time. The only piece of news she had read from the piece of paper she had received under her door in her room, other than being told to go to the War Room, was that the team had changed a fair bit and reading that the eldest of the Creed children had been moved to another team was enough to encourage her to show up to the meeting. She was curious to see who she was no teamed up with, maybe Frostbite was shifted also and the team was filled with decent people. It was hardly likely however since there was only one other person who Madison respected and that was her older brother.
Her eyes landed upon an unfamiliar girl who stood nervously beside the door, which automatically washed away the thoughts of having a decent team. If you were going to be nervous and shy, why waste your time in showing up at all? As usual Madison found something to have a disliking towards the new person. There was a slight scoff as Madison passed her and walked into the room, not bothering to wonder why she hadn’t entered yet. It seemed poor Angela had met the two of her teammates that she was going to have the hardest time in getting along with first up, and that wasn’t a good way to start of the meeting for her. Not like Madison cared anyway.
Taking a step into the room, the door closing behind her, Madison gave an annoyed sigh at the sight of Frost. Had this team even changed for the good? It seemed, if anything, it had dropped down a notch.
The dark chocolate eyes of Madison then looked over to her leader who was one of the few people she listened to and even that was to some extent.
"Edgy girl outside. Either she likes looking at the doors, or is scared about coming in. Can't blame her if she saw Fro-" Her 'informative' speech was cut off as she pointed over to Anna only to see what she was wearing. It was bad enough that the pictures had been taken of her by Frost, and slightly humiliating though she hadn’t shown it in Harmony, but this was just taking it too far...
"You've got to be joking," Madison just stared at the picture of her, she was sure that Frost had chosen the worst one of them all to place upon her new t-shirt. A look of disgust had appeared on her face by now as she looked over to Storm to see if she had noticed that. Surely she wouldn’t want to see such a thing, not wanting the new members to see this on their first meeting.
"Why is she still on our team? Everyone else is gone," Okay, so she didn’t know that for sure since she had only glanced over the list and noted that Shalimar’s name was now gone from it, but she had taken a good guess. Her arms folded after she finished speaking grumpily and her eyes returned to Frost.
"Unless, you've become a fan of my family's work," Her mood seemed to change from the annoyed-angry mood into something else as a crafty smirk played across her face. "You saw what had happened to Michael, didn't ya? And maybe you want to join the club. I'm sure he wouldn’t mind having your 'cool' self bedded next to him," She said, having a play around with words as she spoke. It was very likely that Madison wouldn’t be able to carry out her threat, not now anyway and certainly not in the same room as one of the more mature X-Men. Though no one could take away her right of speech, as much as many people wanted.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Taylor was looking forward to his first meeting with the new team he was a member of, unlike the back-up team which he was a part of when rescuing a number of mutants from Harmony’s black market, Gold Strike Force was one of the original teams to be constructed and so Taylor was very proud to have be assigned to it. Before he had begun his walk down to the war room where the team was to meet he had done a little research on the team and its leader. Ororo Munroe, also known as Storm, was a very interesting woman; Taylor had often seen her from a distance around the mansion like many of the other older X-Men, often seeing her with his Aunt or Uncle discussing things in hushed tones. Taylor was looking forward to meeting the elemental woman, if not a little intimidated by her awesome abilities and control and use of them.
Taylor had left a little early, wanting to get to the war room early enough so that he would be there to actually meet some of the others before the meeting actually began, if he was going to be out on missions with these people then it was best that he got to know them a little, he needed to know that he could count on them and be counted on. A smile spread across Taylor’s face when he noticed Angie stood by the door looking a little taken aback from something as he approached he spoke;
“Hey, here for the meeting? It’s a little nerve racking isn’t it.” Taylor’s smile faded a little as he looked at the door, he chose not to ask her what she looked a little aback about as it wasn’t the time, he will check after. He slowly approached the door and took a deep breath before pressing the panel that opened them to allow him entry; many times when he met new people he was with Sean and he was able to do the introductions, with most of these people it would be the first time meeting and he needed to make a good impression.
Turning back to the young woman by his side who he had helped join the institute, he held out his hand and momentarily gripped Angela’s shoulder; “OK, here we go.” Taylor let go after he squeezed slightly and stepped forward leading the way in. The heavy metal doors slid open and Taylor stepped across the threshold and was met by the form of Storm; she had obviously arrived early so that the team members wouldn’t arrive after her; another sign of a good leader. Taylor smiled a little, attempting to control his nerves which came with his usual over-enthusiastic nature and spoke softly;
“Hi, I’m Taylor, I assume this is where I should be for the Gold teams meeting?” Taylor stood just inside, his gaze falling on the other two seated women, each of them not looking particularly impressed being here.
Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
There was a sense of dread at the sight of the next girl, was this how everyone was going to look at her? It wasn't at all different to her old schools then, what was the point of even being here? She just wanted to sneak back to her room and log online and escape into her world of cyber reality.
While Frost was inside, a wickedly amused smirk crossed her lips as Madison entered the room, even more proud of herself once Madison looked disappointed that the frosty mutant was still around. There was a sly glance over towards Storm, waiting for the weather witch to be for sure not looking in Anna's direction before she readied her little 'surprise' for little miss 'scratch and hiss'.
"Edgy girl outside. Either she likes looking at the doors, or is scared about coming in. Can't blame her if she saw Fro-" With a slightly mocking stretch in which she took a deep breath and leaned back a little in her seat so her jacket parted enough for Madison to see the picture without Storm catching sight of it, not that Anna cared if she got in trouble, it was more amusing when she wasn't caught making fun of and degrading Madison.
"You've got to be joking," Score one for Frost. Her posture returned to normal and she put on her nuetral expression - one of utter irritation while staring at Madison - and played along as if she hadn't provoked the youngest of the two 'Enright' siblings. "Why is she still on our team? Everyone else is gone," Those words sounded just annoying and pathetic, she'd have expected something more becoming of Madi, so there was only a roll of her eyes and a bored look to show this wasn't even mildly interesting for her anymore.
"Unless, you've become a fan of my family's work," Anna's right eyebrow rose slightly at such a rediculous statement, "You saw what had happened to Michael, didn't ya? And maybe you want to join the club. I'm sure he wouldn’t mind having your 'cool' self bedded next to him," There was a very quiet pause before Frost zipped up her jacket looking as if she was about to burst out into laughter at the absurdity of what Madison just said. Leaning forward and half covering her face to try and hide her lips before dropping her head down into her right arm that was resting on the table after she banged it lightly with her palm, still struggling to stop laughing while at the same time obviously mocking Madison, even if others wouldn't understand it, Madison would know it was mockery, pure and simple.
A rather blank expression crossed over Angela's features outside, her body was half turning to leave now, a rather withdrawn and panicky look inching its way into her face, the only thing that stopped her darting off was the familiar face of Taylor, but even that wasn't helping her calm down completely.
“Hey, here for the meeting? It’s a little nerve racking isn’t it.” ..Yeah.. if he meant the type of nerve racking where people pointed, laughed, and then started stomping on you while cackling at the top of their lungs and throwing rotten food. Angela watched with a slight fear gripping at her while he pressed his hand on the door panel to open it, they'd all know she had been out here, a girl was inside laughing, a humiliated blush crept into Angela's cheeks as she stared down at the ground. The comforting hand of her male friend caused her to look up, the fact he was guiding her made things easy, that was a problem with Angela, sometimes you had to push her to do things that normal people would handle doing on their own without any problems.
“OK, here we go.” A small comforting sensation filled her a little, but that didn't help drive away any of her inhabitions, her body trailing in behind Taylor as the ddoor finally slid open to reveal the people inside, the one who had been laughing wasn't any more, she staring at Angela and a cold smirk crept into her cocky expression that uneased Angela even further so she decided to ignore everyone by staring down at the ground again.
“Hi, I’m Taylor, I assume this is where I should be for the Gold teams meeting?” At that, Frost rolled her eyes and lightly pinched the ridge of her nose with her fingers and thumb of her right hand, of all the stupidy, how the hell did they get these two!? Well at least the upside was that she knew Taylor from the trip to Harmony Market, but she had completely ignored her X-Force Team mate, even though he didn't seem to be a complete wuss.. like you'd expect upon seeing him.
"At least I know why they removed Shalimar, one team can only have so many of her kind." Crossing her arms over her chest, Anna turned her gaze away from Storm's direction, staring grumpily towards the other side of the room. Angela glanced towards the white fringed blonde girl, a slight frown seen on the young woman, if there was one thing Miss Clarice did not like it was being catergorized.
If there was one thing they all had in common, it was that they could all stand their ground, they were all powerful mutants in their own way, and to top it off, they all needed someone as strong willed and a strong authority figure, yet motherly at at the same time, they were all missing that part of their lives, they all needed someone like Storm guide them.
Right now however Angela wasn't secure enough to comment on her disapproval towards being classified as something negative as whatever it was that that blonde girl was calling her, she didn't know who Shalimar was but it was easy to tell that she wasn't popular or liked. The partially empathic mutant kept her body mostly hidden from Storm by remaining half hidden behind Taylor and staying close behind him as if she was surrounded by flesh eating monsters and only he could protect her from them.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
So many students.
In the first few days Matthias Evans had spent in the Institute after he had got to know some of the X-Men in course of the events at the Renaissance Hotel, he had been dazzled by what felt like hundreds of people. It wasn’t actually their number but rather the fact that they were all mutants like himself, some more obviously than others. In the past – as a member of the Hellfire Club this eternity ago in another life – it had been only a small group of other mutants whose acquaintance he had made. Everybody knew one another.
Now that more than two months of living at Xavier’s had passed, he would have expected to have gotten used to it but still it was a bewildering feeling to be surrounded by so many youngsters none of which was a homo sapiens in the classical sense. And none of which he really knew.
No, that wasn’t true, he had to inwardly correct himself, there was at least one person he had got to know better. Aurora Garnet Ferelle - strangely enough for by the sight of it, she had not been the type of girl he would have ever imagined to befriend with -, she had become someone he trusted.
Some others, he knew from seeing. Some were friends of Aurora’s, others he had met during classes but although he came along with most, he preferred to keep his distance. Being his sarcastic self, Matt didn’t need to put any effort in that; something a part of him regretted. Still, he wasn’t willing to change himself and this was what he was. Yet he did not know that with Frost and Wolverette in his team, he was in good company – speaking of sarcasm.
Thinking of the Gold Strike Force, he eventually realized why he – again – was so astounded by the mass of people. He actually had been assigned to a team! There was a certain pride he felt upon that thought but still he couldn’t help wondering why they had chosen him. Now that he was just Contrast – a codename he had quickly made up when somebody had asked him; for some reason, everybody seemed to have one and he had to admit that having one, again, made him feel safer than telling his real name -, now that he no longer was this superior being Divine, there was barely anything he had to offer to contribute to an actual team that was supposed to go on missions.
Little did he know about what the X-Men were actually doing but from what he had heard, they seemed to be like the good guys constantly battling some evil mutant/demon/alien, basically whoever just popped up causing trouble and threatening mankind. A little over one year ago, he had smirked scornfully at those rumors, wondering which homo sapiens superior on earth would do such a ridiculous and pointless thing. A.Corp. stealing his powers really had changed his attitude, as he once again came to notice. He was still wondering why someone should risk his life to save those who wished him dead… but then again, he had tried the other way and in retrospective didn’t find it all that favorable an option.
For the time being, Matthias hadn’t told anyone about his past in detail. Not even in front of Aurora he had even hinted at his former identity, never mentioned A.Corp. This was partly to not have to shamefully admit to others that he had once been probably one of the most powerful mutants on earth and now one of the weakest onto which he had looked down on before – and partly to not have to remind himself of it.
Yet maybe, maybe this bunch of goody-good-doers would come to face A.Corp. some fine day. After all, judging from what little information he had been able to gather, those bastards seemed to be planning something big so the X-Men were bound to notice it sooner or later. And being part of one of the main teams would get him right into the first row when it came to infiltrating their headquarters. Especially with his ability of shadow-walking.
For the hundredth time, the black-haired mutant took a look at his info sheet, his riddled memory constantly leaving him in doubt whether he was really heading for the right place. Most names he found himself unable to memorize, especially the one that sounded Russian, but Anna Drake was one that he had remembered even after the first look at the note. It was as short and simple as Storm, their team leader’s codename. Generally, this thing with code- and real names was confusing though for it meant he had to learn more than just one name for every member.
As Matt had reached the War Room, he wondered for a short moment what awaited him beyond this electronic door. He hesitated, his raised hand lingering over the panel before he pressed his hand on it, shrugging. He had gone through Heaven and Hell; what was there left in this world that could top that?
The metal door slid open with exactly the sound one would expect it to produce reminding Matt of those old Star Trek movies. Now all that was missing was a bold man who… who if his memory was not mistaken lay in some kind of coma.
The people this all to cliché gate revealed left so different and varied impressions in the light elemental – along with a strong feeling of having entered right in the middle of some fight -, he decided to postpone closer examinations to later as he returned the smile and greeting nod Storm, as he guessed from what he had heard, gave him. This was indeed the same procedure she had repeated for everyone who had entered, not wanting to treat those she already knew any different than those she hadn’t had in her team yet.
“Wow… I’m not the last to arrive?!”
There was real incredulity with a light tone of irony in his voice when he stated that; not loud enough to be taken as forcefully catching everyone’s attention but at the same time not so silent nobody would understand it. There was no actual intention behind it but realizing there were still people missing was something rather surprising to him. Normally, he was the one to come to late or just in time.
Guessing there would some kind of meet and greet scheduled for later anyway, Matt decided to just take a seat, wait and see. Judging from his first impression, they all seemed to be totally different from one another. Was there anything – aside from being mutants – they had in common? Well, most probably he would find out about it. Sooner or later.
He regretted a little that he had pulled his long, dark hair back into a ponytail since it took away the great pastime of playing with it. For another short moment, he wondered whether anyone would take offence at his fully black clothing – the rather tight plain shirt and the jeans – but then shrugged it off. He hadn’t cared about it the past years, why beginning with it now?
(OOC: I’ll post with Storm when everyone arrived. Just think of her as the silent watcher in the background, welcoming everyone with a smile and a nod and not interfering with anything happening… yet)

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Nadzieja stood outside the doors of the war room for a moment, taking a deep breath and trying to calm her nerves. She hated being late, and the thought of walking through the doors on her own, everyone looking at her, gave the young girl a sickly feeling deep down in her stomach. Shakily, she entered the room.
She hadn't even wanted to be on a team...she was perfectly happy with her life as it was. It suited her fine to spend her days studying and developing her power, even if she did feel terribly lonely sometimes. Everyone was waiting for her, just as Hope had pictured.
"I...I sorry I'm l..late," her words caught in her throat, and it was a physical struggle to say them. Her long hair was tied back out of her face, and her cotton trousers covered her fleece lined walking boots. Hope had not had any information about the meeting, and so did not know what to expect. "My name's Nadzieja Salamon...I think this is where I'm meant to be." she said to Orora, silently glad that the teacher was leading the team. The young girl had always had a great respect for the woman who had so much power, yet always acted with grace and modesty.
Nadzieja looked at the people seated around the table, searching desperately for someone she knew, at least slightly. There were faces she recognised, but no one she really knew, apart from Taylor. Looking down at the ground, Hope sat in the remaining empty chair.
Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
When the new male entered the room, Angela looked over her shoulder to see who had now come, the new arrival had rather pale skin, something she had in common with him, rarely getting much sunlight touching her at all, but naturally she couldn't go perfectly white as he seemed to be. The dark hair and outfit only helped exagerate his pale complextion, the movement of others taking seats distracted her though and she moved off to take a seat herself.
The empathic mutant was just glade that Taylor was sitting beside her, but with Frost on her other side it was no wonder the 19 year old was suffering mild negative emotions, but they were being balanced out by Taylor's more upbeat personality. Unfortunatly the new arrival of Hope amplified her already shy attitude as the emotions she sensed seemed to be absorbed into her.
It wasn't easy since she didn't have much contact with people and she hadn't yet learned how to block out the emotions she felt from others, she was lucky that it took concentration in order to use her other powers (aside from Fear) otherwise she'd find it harder then she already was finding it to cope amongst these strangers. The two other girls had been really impatient and nasty, she wasn't sure it was a good idea to be here.
Taking in a careful breath, trying not to make it noticable, Angela attempted to calm herself down, trying to focus on other things she looked over towards Madison and then front. The classic signs of bully's have radiated from them from the very moment they first laid eyes on the mutant that possessed a power to cause intense trepidation, so far fear was the only emotion she was able to manupilate on her victims. For every emotion she experiences with such intensity that it takes special situations for them to reach such levels, then she will develop stronger connections with those emotions around her as well as inside her.
Imagine the ability to cause an emotion like lust and desire, hatred and rage, fear and terror, yet for every advancement in her abilities means she must first be dealt heavily with that emotion. She must feel anger like never before, a rage not provoked by fear, but by anger, similiar with all her other dormant powers. Not that she was aware of it, and gaining yet more wraith-like entities hovering about her will be both a blessing and another curse, though they wouldn't always be around her, like Fear currently was hiding himself since she wanted to make a good first impression with everyone.
The desire to find out everyone's fears was a little strong, at the same time she didn't want to pry, they wouldn't know though, she'd know, she'd be aware she was spying into the private lives of others, finding out their deepest darkest fears. People like Madison and Frost spent their lives proving to everyone they feared nothing.. Angela could destroy that pretense in just a few moments.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
One moment Mandra was promising to fix what went wrong between them, the next Jarod was sensing her thoughts engulfed with only images of her former lover from her other reality. Only further inspection revealed it wasn't the one from the other reality, but the one from this world, easily solved really, if Jarod just removed the Gambit from this world, then Mandra would pay him more attention again.
Belthazor had been talking with him all morning, helping him sort over his thoughts, making everything sound so easy, so right, twisting things around so that wrong doings seemed like logical solutions. It felt like he was rudely interupted when Storm had called for him to meet her at the War Room, he though the replied calmly enough, but he had in fact snapped at her rather irritably that he would be there.
Being a telepath meant he could talk with Belthazor without the high demon having to enter the school grounds and Jarod spent most of his time sitting around in his room so people wouldn't realize - nor would they assume - Xavier's son would be conversing with the one who had frightened hurt and held Jarod captive his entire life. But Jarod continued speaking with his former care taker even while walking towards the meeting room, it resulted in his walk talking longer then Storm would probably be fond of, but Jarod's sense of time was still developing and even if he realized he was 'late' then at this point he'd hardly care.
The dark eyes of Jarod had lost their curious child-like gaze and had taken on a more colder, crueler attitude, Jean had been working with him a lot so she was the first to notice the change and although she spoke to others of her worries there was little that could be done since Jarod would walk away from anyone who tried to talk with him.
As the doors to the war room slid over, he looked about with only an annoyed passing glance, more taking in the difference of how the room looked this time from the last time he entered. Jean had a holo-projection of the world which had given the room a green glow, showing Jarod different places that the X-men or Xavier had people or businesses. There wasn't a look towards any of the students and as he had been doing for weeks now he also ignored Storm's presense as the black t-shirt and jean dressed man slumped into his seat across the table from storm.
Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Naturally, Ororo had been one of those Jean had spoken to, telling her about her worries arising upon the subtle, yet for her all too obvious changes Jarod was going through. Storm herself hadn’t noticed anything but then again, due to the lack of meetings lately, she hadn’t had much, almost nothing to do with Xavier’s son. Until she had asked him to attend to his team’s meetings, that is, his reaction showing all too clearly what the Phoenix had been talking about. It was indeed striking; he had seemed so distant - like a daydreaming child maybe – when they had met the first time and now he was more like a frustrated old man as the weather witch had thought, frowning since she lacked a better, more suiting comparison.
Still, Jarod’s absence surprised her. Truth be told, Ororo would rather have expected one of the new members to come late for reasons like not finding the War Room, hesitating to meet those maybe unfamiliar people… or maybe herself. The GSF’s leader was very well aware of the fact that many younger students were scared of her or at least felt intimidated by those hundreds of stories that had grown around her person throughout the decades of her role as an X-Men.
Assuming that her co-leader was not planning on actually showing up, Storm rose from the seat she had been waiting on. Her dark cape she had detached not wanting to appear overly dramatic at first sight. Later, when they would maybe go to the War Room, she would put it back on – maybe just because she had gotten used to the feeling of having something flying back when she used her extraordinary powers.
In the very moment the weather controlling mutant opened her mouth to speak, the doors slid open for the eighth timing allowing the Pretender’s form to enter. In a way, he even fitted less into this group of youngsters than Storm herself. Maybe it was his age, the incredibly normal clothing, the lack of any obvious hint towards his mutation… or all of it together – Ororo didn’t think about it at all and even if she had, chances were low she would have had that impression let alone been able to put a finger on it.
Ignoring the strongly rebellious impression he made – something that let her wonder why exactly he was a co-leader – Ororo took a look around, the hint of a welcoming smile still hovering about her lips as she spoke.
”So now that everybody arrived, we shall begin. Most of you know me, I assume, but for those who don’t: I am Ororo Munroe, codename Storm… why I don’t think I need to explain,”
The corners of her mouth wandered up a little, giving her smile an ironic touch. Either of her names was connected to an anecdote students knew to tell so chances were almost zero it wouldn’t ring a bell. If, however, it did not… well, the codename was self-explanatory anyway.
”Since there will an event involving us as a team - which I will not reveal anything about - is taking place tomorrow…”
, she went on making a short pause after those news to let them have the surprising effect they were meant to have, yet not remaining silent for long enough to allow any chatter to arise, ”… I say we skip the usual part where everybody introduces him or herself to the others. I will quickly do that, if you agree,”
The resolute movement with which she pulled out a piece of paper from one of her folders made it absolutely certain she had already decided to follow that procedure that – indeed – was all too practical considering the little time they had. Without even looking at the sheet she was just holding in the improbable case she would forget something or someone, Storm’s gaze wandered from one to the other while introducing them shortly with real name, codename, powers and rank in Jarod’s case, letting a few seconds pass before turning to the next in case the person in question wanted to add something.
The last introductory meeting she had led, Storm had let everybody decide for themselves whether they wanted their real names to be known but thinking about it a little, the weather controlling mutant had realized that those who didn’t wish her identity to be revealed didn’t introduce themselves giving it when applying at the Institute in the first place. Tempest was the best example…
Her thoughts only lingering for the glimpse of a moment on the mutant with powers so similar to hers, Ororo returned to the matters at hand, pushing away the blurred images of what had happened in the Renaissance Hotel somehow involving him.
Ocean-blue gaze focused on the two girls that remained from the GSF’s previous line-up.
”Most students are not fully aware of what being part of the X-Men is actually about and as Wolverette and Frost might remember, I informed the previous Gold Strike Force about all imaginable aspects. I have discussed that matter with Mrs Grey-Summers and in course of that decided to keep it much shorter this year.
Being an X-Men is not only a job, it is a fate – especially for those being on one of the original teams as the GSF is – and I do want to warn you that danger – although we are trying to avoid it unless there is no other way – is our companion on every single mission unless it’s one for training purposes. Goddess knows we don’t take risks for the thrill but do make the world a little better in cases where nobody else is able… or willing to,”
Upon hearing those words, Matt silently raised an eyebrow, a slightly cynical smile on his lips. It was not that he was mocking about the white-haired beauty but rather her choice of words – so dramatic – and even the fact that they seemed to verify the thoughts he had had earlier. A team with such motivations behind would certainly strive to free the world of evil… and A.Corp. definitely WAS evil, at least in the contrasting mutant’s mind where normally, that term was meant in a jokingly positive fashion. Not this time though.
Curiously, his eyes that had decided to take on a more bluish shade of green – the tint changed a little depending on time of the day and his mood – wandered from one to the other again as they had done when Storm had introduced them all. ”Matthias Evans, Contrast – he can manipulate other people’s perception of light and merge with shadows,” Ororo’s summary of what he was had touched a memory he was thinking about so often, yet never spoke out loud. He could have corrected her, could have told her that things had been different only a little more than a year ago… that he hadn’t always been cursed with such pathetic powers… that he had once been Divine. Yet he didn’t.
”You can call me Matt for short,”
The only comment he had made, hiding the pain of damaged pride, covering the wound with the old blanket “smile” and the tourniquet “irony” as usual.
Examining the others helped to distract the black-haired young man a little… they were all interesting in their own way. There was their co-leader who somehow looked like a grudgy businessman, Storm herself whose mere presence was overwhelming, Frost who totally looked her name and thus was the total opposite of Aurora, though he found himself liking her right from the start… but the only one he thought to be actually able to with seemed to be Angela. Matt didn’t know exactly what it was but the others somehow seemed so much older than he was – which in most of the cases was true – unapproachable in a way although that wouldn’t keep him from trying to get along with them well; this partly psychic girl, however, he had the feeling to be able to talk about something like computer graphics, a topic especially Anna and Madison seemed to be likely to frown at.
She looked slightly anxious though, Matt’s senses telling him there was something troubling her strongly, yet his intuition was by far not powerful enough to tell him what it actually was. It just didn’t work that way.
Shooting her an encouraging smile, the contrasting mutant hoped to somehow cheer her up a little before his eyes returned to focus on Storm once more when the weather witch continued.
”If you have any questions, pose them later… we will meet in the Danger Room in…,”
she threw a glance at the digital clock one of Cerebro’s less important screens was displaying and nodded, ”…20 minutes. You may want to use the time to get to know each other little better or change into something more comfortable. We will have a little introductory training!”
She didn’t say it but the way she nodded again with a not unfriendly expression but one demanding the respect the deserved, it was obvious that if this had been a meeting discussion an important mission, she would have finished with “You are dismissed!”.
Matt – whose eyes followed her leaving - was a little surprised of the way she talked in a way that was such a strange mixture of open friendliness and almost militaristic authority but as he guessed, he would get used to it. His former Biology teacher had been exactly the same, the weather-controlling and saving the world part aside of course.
TBC: Storm – later in the DR after some of you replied with their characters leaving… no need to rush though if you have something character interaction-wise in mind…
Everyone, feel free to add something your character said after they were introduced. Storm gave everyone the possibility to do that and would have waited till they were finished…

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
ooc: Did you lose any of your post in all those ezcode errors? if so I'll edit my post accordingly! Matt: Nope, seems alright... I edited it though so the error is gone, but I don't think it really screwed the text up so....
Listening as Storm spoke, Angela couldn't help but feel so torn up inside, she could feel anger and impatiance and she wasn't even sure what she was upset or irritated about. Not to mention shy and excited and edgy and bored and.. there was an inward sigh that reminded her why she was never fussed that she didn't go out a whole lot, she couldn't stand handling all the different emotions she felt around her.
There was a pause in their leaders speech in which the other mutant with paled skin and dark attire looked towards her and offered her a smile. There was a slight taint of a rose hue to her cheeks as her eyes dropped to stare down at the table surface. Slowly her attention wandered over towards Jarod while everyone else was - for the most part - listening to Storm. That man, he was angry, there was a slight relief in Angela that it wasn't her that was upset over something, she was a moody girl at times and sometimes she didn't even know why so it wouldn't surprise her that she'd go from happy to sad for no reason at all.
"Matthias Evans, Contrast – he can manipulate other people’s perception of light and merge with shadows,"
That sounded cool, merging with shadows anyway, that'd be a grat way to hide, you can't be hurt if people can't see you, there was a slightly wishful thought that she had something like invisibility. But then again, she had fear, in truth, that was an ultimate weapon, and she wasn't going to belittle her gift.
"You can call me Matt for short,"
Slowly Angela tilted her head a little to the side, her gaze lost in the nothingness yet at the same time seeming focused on the table top. Emotion was powerful, like waves crashing against a rock that was Angela, she could feel both the powerful storms colliding with her and the more gentle calmer waves lapping softly against her rough surface. Right now her protective barrier was weak and delicate, which was why she confused her own emotions with those of others, prolonged contact with others would help her there, but until there she was forced to feel everything that was usually hidden by the clever masqurade people tended to play in front of others.
Dark windows that torn right into the very core of her soul lifted from the metallic surface of the table that all sat at, raising to direct their gaze towards the one across from her. How can one feel such emotions simply by saying their own name? She wanted to curl up, hide away and yet at the same time have someone holding her, no one ever held her, she already knew what it felt like to be hinding on her own, surely it had to be a whole world of difference when someone else was hiding with you, holding you, keeping you safe even as you hide from the world. It was the feeling she had with the emotions she was drowning in, they were consuming her, grinding her down to an empty shell, not the emotions themselves, but the memories she had when she herself ever felt like this without the influence of other people's emotions.
First Storm left, but that caught little attention from Angela, her focus did however move over towards Jarod who got up and rather unpleasently made his way to the door without giving any of the other students a glance.
"What the friggin' hell's his problem?" The furious irritation in Anna's voice was more from the fact that attitude was her and Madison's trade mark, she ain't having no oldie come in on their gig and try to take the spot light.
There was an unhappy look given to her from Angela who then quickly glanced down at her lap since it wasn't her place - as far as she felt since she was so new - to be judging or disapproving other people's attitude.
Getting to her feet, Frost didn't bother to wait for anyone to reply to her question, she had already decided what his problem was and didn't need anyon else to tell her what their own opinions were. As the door slid open, the small form of Fear sped into the room, causing Anna to twist her head and watch the black gasous form hover in front of Angela who quickly grabbed it and pulled it down to her lap out of everyone's view aside from Taylor who sat beside her. There was a look of annoyance on Frost's face as he turned to leave and the tiny creature on Angela's lap was rewarded with a little pat from its creator.
"What's the Danger Room?" Mainly she looked at Taylor when asking before focusing down on Fear once more, since she didn't feel comfortable speaking with people she doesn't know. She felt really shy asking sink it appeared to be something that white haired woman expected everyone to know about since she hadn't explained it in the slightest.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
By the time the other members of the Gold Strike Force had arrived, Madison had sat down with her arms folded grumpily that Frost had covered her t-shirt before Storm could see. She most certainly wasn’t happy by it, not that she could be blamed. How many people would like someone wearing a t-shirt with them on it all covered in blood and trapped behind caged bars, not to mention that it was being worn by someone they didn’t like?
Since she ignored what was going around her for the time being, she was yet to notice the girl from the hall and a yellow-skinned mutant, who had been part of the rescue squad down at Harmony, come in until Frost mentioned the name of Shalimar as she said something. That made her quickly look up to see if Shalimar was there, her eyes narrowed in annoyance until she saw the two mutants who had come in and noticed they were not the daughter of Sabretooth.
While the two never got along there were times when Frost or Madison would say something and the other would agree, though not admitting that aloud for the other to hear. This was one of those times as Madison looked at the girl already disliking her from when she first saw her in the hovering around the door, obviously too shy to come in on her own and found that there was nothing to like about her. If she was going to be anything like Shalimar, then a bitter hatred was going to form quite shortly.
Resuming to ignore the rest of the people coming in, Madison sat back in her chair and looked about the War Room. It wasn’t as if this was the first time she had been in here so she knew where everything was in the room, she was merely looking around at things out of boredom than anything else.
”So now that everybody arrived, we shall begin. Most of you know me, I assume, but for those who don’t: I am Ororo Munroe, codename Storm… why I don’t think I need to explain,” Hearing the voice of Storm start speaking she looked over to her then to look at everyone else since the weather witch had said that everyone had arrived. First she saw the gloominess of Jarod, then two mutants who she had never seen before, one male the other female.
”Since there will an event involving us as a team - which I will not reveal anything about - is taking place tomorrow…” That sounded interesting but probably when she finds out about what the event is she will feel as if she was ripped off. Madison wasn’t too much of a patient person and never liked to be kept in suspense, even this was tugging at her but she chose to ignore it since if Storm wanted to keep it secret, it was going to be kept a secret. Besides, she only had a nights sleep to go and she will find out.
”… I say we skip the usual part where everybody introduces him or herself to the others. I will quickly do that, if you agree,” Thank God, Madison never really liked introducing herself. No, that was a lie, she did when it was against someone she strongly disliked (as she disliked just about everyone) and wanted them to ‘get to know her’. However, as Storm began introducing everyone Madison gave an annoyed sigh. She already knew the powers of them thanks to her ability to absorb all their powers, she could also sense everyone’s powers before Storm could even mention them.
Some had useful powers, like Taylor who had electrical powers and even Matthias’s ability to merge with shadow’s sounded like a useful power. As Madison had quite the ability of picking out things she didn’t like than to picking out things she did both in general and with others she found some not so useful powers in her teammates; Matthias fell into this category also, what was the point of being able to manipulate other people’s perception of light? Nadzieja’s ability to phase through objects didn’t quite interest the Wolverette much either, even though she had on a few occasions absorbed the power from Shadowcat when she was younger to try it out. Madison preferred attacking powers other than defensive. Then there was Angela which arose the question; what’s so good about being able to sense others emotions? Though the fear bit sounded a little interesting, yet Madison arrogantly felt as if she was safe from Angela. After all she had control of her emotions so how could anyone sense them and she feared nothing! Well, she liked to believe that...
”If you have any questions, pose them later… we will meet in the Danger Room in… …20 minutes. You may want to use the time to get to know each other little better or change into something more comfortable. We will have a little introductory training!” Now this could prove interesting! Maybe those with the more ‘weaker’ powers could prove powerful in the Danger Room. That had to be her most favourite place in the world as the main objective of that room was to win and really, who liked losing?
The sound of ‘introductory training’ caused a smirk to spread from her lips, she’d be more than happy to train alongside the others! Of course whenever she trained with others they almost always ended up in bad shape unless they had healing abilities of course. Then if she trained by herself she was sure to make it hard and challenging to make herself stronger and learn from any mistakes she might make there, which was less embarrassing than in front of others.
After she had finished speaking, Storm left and Jarod quite grumpily did so right after. Frost had also noticed his attitude and wasn’t happy about it either. There was barely enough room for the two of them to be like that on this team, let alone someone else wanting to join in. Soon after she had spoke, Anna too left the War Room, though Madison didn’t notice Angela’s gaseous friend, Fear, make his entrance as the doors opened to allow her exit.
"What's the Danger Room?" She did pick up this however, after choosing to listen to whatever was spoken first in hopes that something amusing might be brought up. This was amusing! ‘What was the Danger Room?’ had to be one of the most ridiculous questions to have ever been asked. Though Madison had gown up knowing about the Danger Room and the life of a mutants since she had lived at Xavier’s her entire life, even when her mother had moved out after finding out that Logan had slept with Mystique, Madison still came back to Xavier’s to see her father and made it her home still. Therefore, Madison didn’t know what life other than at Xavier’s was like so she couldn’t be blamed to think that, then again it was Madison so maybe she could.
Getting up from her seat she simply shook her head at the question, not being bothered to answer it. Okay Angela hadn’t even asked her, but it wasn’t as if Madison wasn’t one who one never butted in to others conversations. She could do it quite easily especially when she was out to anger or annoy someone, but for now she couldn’t be bothered to answer that question without falling into a fit of laughter. So she simply made herself number four to leave the room.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Taylor sat comfortably in his seat in the room next to Angela. It hadn't taken much time before a few more people made their way into the war room and he had made a few subtle glances over towards Angie as they had entered gauging her reactions to the new arrivals. First came Matthias, at the time Taylor had not known his name but had heard of the mutant around the school and when Storm had invited people to introduce themselves he found out his name.
He was quickly followed by Hope; the young woman he had accidently pushed from her dining table one lunch time, he felt a twang of guilt as he watched her quietly slope to a seat of her own, he just hoped he hadn't contributed to her further shyness. Finally GSF's second-in-command came in and Taylor was instantly a little disatisfied with his entrance; their commanders were meant to install encouragement into their teams and although Storm was obviously going to do that Taylor was definately unsure about Jarod's abilities.
Taylor settled down and listened intently to Storm's opening; it was much as he had expected; he had made a point of asking Sean many questions about this meeting and eventually had forced Sean to make an escape before he went insane with answering his cousins questions. But he had said that the missions coming up weren't going to be discussed in this meeting and that it was morn of a 'meet the team'.
It was then the worst part of the meeting by far; the introductions. Taylor had met a lot of the people in the room, he had even been on a mission with a couple of them; but he still had to get up and said his piece - even though it was extremely short and sweet. More notably was the glance that Matt had given Angie; for some reason he found himself feeling a strange twang of emotion and it seemed as if he wanted to protect the young woman from something despite the fact that the other man had made no such threat. Taylor forced this strange feeling down and listened to the last part of Storm's introduction before she left and people in the room relaxed a little.
It was evident that his friend had relaxed as she had turned to him after Storm's last orders and spoken "What's the Danger Ro[/i] To any usual member of Xaviers this would have sounded ridiculous; but to Taylor, knowing he had been the one to give Angie her first tour and that she was very new here he was openly ready to respond. However Madison had shown that she was not willing to be so tolerant and had made a point of leaving without saying a thing.
Ignoring the tempremental Enright Taylor had grinned with a slight amount of excitement;
"The Danger Room is where we train; help learn to use our poers in different situations. I have used it a few times with my cousin and friends and it is a good time as well as an important step to learning to use your powers. Storm probably wants us to try to learn to work together with our powers." Taylor had hoped he had put it well and that he had not confused his newest friend even further; he felt a certain amount of prtection over Angie since the event at the Dying Star and he didn't want to make her intergration much harder by explaining things about Xaviers in a very confusing manner. Taylor's open enthusiasm had again been reflected in his eyes as they met hers; often how his eyes seemed; bright and ready for some excitement. He just hoped that Angie would see it like that and wouldn't find herself getting more anxious at the possible need to use her powers.
Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Watching as Madison as the other girl left Angela had the distinct feeling she asked something they considered obsurd, can't they give her a break? She's only been here for two days, including today, they ought to show more manners, just coz she didn't know things didn't make her someone they can knock about and disrespect. There was a slightly defensive though as she wondered if they knew the first thing in computer graphics or HTML or anything else she knew a lot about. But then again she'd try and explain it to them, not sneer at them as if they're stupid.
"The Danger Room is where we train; help learn to use our powers in different situations. I have used it a few times with my cousin and friends and it is a good time as well as an important step to learning to use your powers. Storm probably wants us to try to learn to work together with our powers."
They seriously used their powers against each other!? The thought wasn't very pleasant, how was she going to get alone with people if their first impressions are of her terrifying them? She wasn't a fighter either, she had a hard time dealing with sports, even if she was really good at the positions she played in her promary school, she just didn't ever have the skill of an athletic person.
The small delicate hands of the young woman caressed Fear's solid form like a child holding onto a sort of security blanket, in a sense Fear was hers, he was always there when arguments started with her mother, he'd try to always protect her when no one else would even bother. It was down to the three of them, a smaller group meant less emotions and less people in general and it was easier for her to deal with.
"Second day at school and already scheduled to start terrifying people," Although she didn't do one, it felt the words themselves were like a sigh of concern, "Sounds fun." She'd already talked with Taylor about each others powers, so he knew she wasn't even positive if Fear was an aspect of her mutant powers or something that just came along and found her. Part of her didn't want to learn how to use her powers better, she wanted to learn how NOT to use them. Then again, it was hard to admit she had no desire to 'practice' on those girls who hadn't been keen on her for reasons that, as usual for Angela, remained unknown.
"So we're here to save the world hm?" There was a slight smirk as she looked across at Taylor, "Poor little world." There was a moment of which she stared at Taylor and seemed to swing way off topic as is a habit of hers at times. "So can I have internet access in my room if I pay for it?" There was a bright little grin, obviously for her that was more important to her right nw then thinking over things that she didn't completely understand.. Why exactly has she been assigned to a team of novice super heros? It's not like she can fight or anything, and facing the worst Earth has to offer didn't sound like the best of educational pass times.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force"Second day at school and already scheduled to start terrifying people, sounds fun." Taylor could here and see the anxiousness that Angie was feeling and all he wanted to do was curb it and make her more confident not only with her powers but with the people around her, they all had powers and if yours is one that causes fear, people arnt going to hold it against you. The young man just hoped that she would see that soon.
"So we're here to save the world hm?" As Angie spoke Taylor’s grin mimicked his friends, "Poor little world. So can I have internet access in my room if I pay for it?" Although Taylor hadn’t known Angie that long, her habit of suddenly changing the subject of any sort of discussion had already shown itself to him on a number of occasions. He also grinned a little more as it focused around Internet access, in a way it was something trivial, but the electrical mutant knew how much her Internet friends meant to her, and her hobbies that based on the Internet, so to some it might seem trivial but Taylor knew that it was far from this.
"Don't worry about scary people, mutantcy or not, is is ur ability, your friend who is willing to help protect you, and both you and Fear will grow and become stronger from this kind of training, believe me." Taylor's smile softened as he stared deeply into her eyes, showing his true caring for her. "As for the Internet, it shouldn't be hard setting something like that up, you might even be able to link directly to the mansions supply so you wont have to pay."
Taylor leaned back in his chair and as he relaxed a small jolt of electricity jumped between his stretching fingers, he smiled a little as the light feeling tickled his fingers until he turned back to Angie smiling widely, watching Fear as it settled by her, he really felt an yrge to touch him, to see what this ghost-like creature felt like, but after his first initial experience with Angie's friend he had chosen to keep back from it, he didn't like experiencing his worst fears and didn't want to provoke the creature.
For a second he suddenly realised that that thought was exactly what Angie was worried about, she didn't want every person here to associate her with their worst fears and so pushing those thought to the back of his mind he rested his chin on his arm and looked up at her softly.
Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
A lot of people didn't understand what she could possibly do for hours on end online, none of them understood the feeling it gave her to create a character and then watch it grow and evolve and sometimes turn into something she never imagined. Like her one villian, he was supposed to be one of the worst monsters on her new board, only he turned out not to be, instead he was turned into a monster by those who ruled over him. They go to another world to cause havoc and destruction, instead he ended up helping, seeking redemption and saving the world he was made to help destroy. And still he keeps growing, along with all her characters, even ones she didn't think would have any chance, sometimes it's the ones you don't expect that turn into your greatest creations.
Plus she was always so lonely, sometimes it felt like she was the only one around, but when she was online and talking with her friends, it didn't feel like that any more. She was part of something, and even though it wasn't something everyone understand, Angela didn't care, it made her happy, and it made her happy to know that other's looked forward to reading what she has to write. Her own creations help mold their creations, without each other their characters would not be able to evolve and in a sense you get to look into the different lives of everyone you play. You can see what it's like to be a bully, to hurt someone everyday, you can see what it's like to fall in love or to hate, to maybe it's not always realistic, but it's still a glimpse, a dramatic one, but one none-the-less.
"Don't worry about scary people, mutantcy or not, is is ur ability, your friend who is willing to help protect you, and both you and Fear will grow and become stronger from this kind of training, believe me." That was easy for him to say, he hasn't seen the way they look at her when faced with their worst nightmares, with things they can't fight on their own and things that are their often faceless enemies. "As for the Internet, it shouldn't be hard setting something like that up, you might even be able to link directly to the mansions supply so you wont have to pay." A bright grin flashed and lit up her eyes, lack of money meant restricted i-net use, but free supply was like a dream come true!!
Angela loved seeing other mutants use their powers, especially in such a carefree manner, as if they had no fear of being seen. But then again, they didn't have someone looming over their back terrified of people seeing them as the freaks they were. Though Angela didn't think that in a bad way, she still wasn't used to the term mutants, her father was a scientist, she did have his smarts in her blood, and the desire to learn and the thirst for exploring her language like he had. So for her a mutant was a misshapen, malformed and distorted thing.. she didn't really like that when talking about herself.
Even though the two haven't known each other for too long, Taylor seemed to easily pick up on her obsession and love for the internet and her friends, she wondered what it sounded like to be told that all her best friends live in different countries, some of which she hasn't even seen pictures of. It didn't matter though, a face wasn't important, once you've spoken with them for so long it's impossible not to figure out if you click with them or not. With so many names on her MSN list and only a small collection in her 'family' listing (she didn't really MSN with any family so her closest friends seemed to settle in there) it was easy to tell that she doesn't call just anyone a 'friend' from the online world.
Taylor had walked in on her 'taking a break' from setting up her room, she was pretty sure he knew that she didn't have anything to bring over then a few photo's and the three boxes were just filled just a few CD's, some musical, most just filled with old siggies and pictures that she didn't want crowding her laptop. The rest was just clothes.. pretty sad really but she had to give up most of her things when she left Australia, it had been really painful for her, she tends to collect all sorts of junk. But still she had to leave behind important things, things she didn't want to let go of, but she had to, there wasn't enough room, and her mother hand to pack more things because.. to quote her mother.. her things were more important.
Because Taylor seemed like a pretty observant guy, she was pretty sure he figured it out easily enough, but he didn't say anytihng probably coz of how she was acted. It was stupid, she didn't usually feel shy about things like that, but she felt silly moving into a huge room with a bed that made her look more dwarfed then usual and all she had were a small handful of items, most of which were CDs.
This time Angela leaned back more into her seat, playing around with Fear who appeared to be enjoying the attention, Angela smiled but cast a look towards the others and shyly stopped drowning Fear in so much attention. No one really ever enters her room so she was more then a little shy when he had checked up on her, she wasn't used to having attention and especially from a guy, that was just unnatural for her.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Calmly, almost pokerfaced, Matt watched first Jarod, then Frost and Madison leaving. Their co-leader… he seemed so misplaced in his position – Matt could only agree with Anna’s comment; rather like a rebel to be educated and trained than someone who was supposed to do exactly this with them, the GSF’s members. In a way anyway. In fact, the black-haired mutant wasn’t entirely sure as of how the X-Men’s team structure was like - what they were actually doing in between those missions. Uberimportant missions, certainly, as he thought cynically.
Overhearing Angie’s question about the Danger Room, his attention was caught and he inconspicuously inched a little closer to get the reply. There were rumors, of course, and he was almost certain Aurora knew everything about it but throughout those past weeks, he had neither come in contact with many people in the sense of talking about the Institute’s facilities nor had asked the fiery girl about them. Contrast had expected the DR to be a place off limits for him having come to Xavier’s much later than those he had heard were part of one of the teams and in most of the cases – if you were not related to one of the X-Men, part of a team or had special permissions, you as a normal student could not get into it… then again, Matthias hadn’t really felt the urge to go there anyway, especially not after having heard those talks about life-threatening challenges.
Taylor’s reply was very close to what he had suspected when he had rather coincidentally been collecting pieces of information that didn’t seem to far-fetched, putting together a picture that at least made a little sense. So it seemed to be like a training room but with the extra special of creating scenarios… how corny. Now all they needed were pictures of their worst enemies and Storm going all drill instructor to make Xavier’s the perfect boot camp for future assassins.
Those thoughts Contrast wasn’t at all serious about, rather a way of coping with the uncomforting perspective of being caged with Ms Claws’n’Fury and her frosty counterpart both of which he was still rather certain to somehow be able to come along with quite well… but only on the verbal “how d’you do“ level and not in an artificial combat situation… or any battle in actual fact. They were way beyond him, most were by sight. The yellow-skinned man who seemed to have befriended with Angela earlier probably would be done with him in an instant, simply shocking him into coma while the empathic girl would confront him with his greatest fears.
At that thought, Matt frowned a little, too deep in thought, detached, absent-minded to pay attention to how he would appear to others. What was his biggest fear anyway? After losing his precious gifts, after being cursed with those fragments of a glorious past, what was there left to be afraid of? Absolute darkness he disliked strongly, yet then again, he didn’t need to fear it as much anymore for casting rays of light and similar abilities that had been nullified by it he didn’t possess anymore anyway. And when it was dark, you couldn’t be seen anyway so it didn’t matter he wasn’t able to use his other powers anymore.
So what was left? Was there anything anyway? As Matt thought on, he thought there wasn’t… he felt empty. It wasn’t exactly as if he was dead inside – not at all – yet the part that usually shudders and shivers if you touch it, the part of the mind that constantly prays “Please, don’t allow this to happen”… it was silent. Or maybe he had been searching in the wrong place; Matt didn’t know and as Angie’s question about the Internet infiltrated his mind, he found he didn’t care that much anyway. If Nightmare’s powers could affect him… well… at least he would get some questions answered.
Making a mental note to ask Garnet about what the electricity mutant had replied, Contrast got up. Obviously, the brown-haired girl who had looked so lost earlier had found someone to talk to, someone who helped her already so why forcing his help on her if it wasn’t needed anyway? Matt still found it difficult to just walk up to people and start talking to them although he forced himself to do that occasionally so he wouldn’t end up being an absolute loner, yet in situations like those, the excuse not to do it was far too convincing to ignore.
While he sometimes to tended to neglect the thought, the part-time goth in fact was more of an outsider just by the plain of fact of being a little strange in most of the “normal people”’s minds. Yet then again, this was a school for freaks so maybe he would easily merge with the masses there easily? Time would tell… and far more important than those more or less deep thoughts was the simple question how he was supposed to survive the Danger Room unharmed.
Matt was no fighter. He had tried training the martial arts when he had been younger but always stopped after some time simply losing the drive to do it. He was anything but sporty, losing his breath rather quickly. He wouldn’t be able to keep up with the and so he quitted, a logical consequence in his eyes for why should he have devoted his time to a pointless thing? There would have to have been more than just one session per week to change this state of his but for that, he had not only not had the time with school and his hobbies… he had actually been to lazy.
And so he had to live with his slim but rather frail build which didn’t mean he had an totally undefined body-frame but visible muscled like those one would get from working out or doing a lot of sports was something he didn’t possess. Actual combat situations, especially as far as hand-to-hand fights, were thus something he had little chances of leaving victorious and weapons he had never used before. Strategies, yes, maybe those would turn out as his only chance of winning… get the ice girl to freeze the electro guy and distract kitty with some cotton ball, sounded like a plan but he doubted it would ever be that easy, especially as the upcoming training session was nothing more than that. It was a controlled, supervised scenario with Storm at the Stop-button. This wasn’t real life… he would have to take lessons (again) hoping he wouldn’t fail miserably (again); a humiliation those with stronger, with active powers wouldn’t have to endure. He envied them… and he feared them.
Wondering whether he would be able to keep himself out of actual fights just stunning some people occasionally to give others the chance to actually do something, Matthias crossed the room to exit.
”See ya in a sec,”
he said loud enough for everyone to hear but to no one in particular, flashed a smile although he rather felt like cursing the world to hell (again) and left the Gold Strike Force’s first meeting to face whatever there was to come in the Danger Room. However, there was still the thought of eventually having the opportunity to pay back everything they had done to him to A.Corp. A perspective that was even motivating enough to get used to the horrible thought of taking some martial arts classes again, although the additional plus of potential eye candy probably helped equally much. Maybe that one blond guy who seemed to be with another girl every two days or so would – oh so coincidentally – take the same course…?
TBC: Matt – War Room I don’t wanna hold you up so don’t hesitate to open up a new thread in the WR guys!
I don’t think we need to do much there, just one or two short scenes and then a fade-out coz the actual mission is the event of importance, not the initial meeting….

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Why did she have to take part in this stupid team idea, Nadzieja thought sulkily. She had spent her whole life as an outsider, avoiding all the people around her, who didn't even know her yet still despised her. And now she was being forced to work alongside them. The young girl shrunk deeper into herself, crossing her arms in front of her defensively. There was no way she would get through this unscathed, no way she would ever enjoy it, or learn from it.
Hope watched as, one by one, her fellow team members left the war room. She let out a melodramatic sigh. Looking towards Taylor, the only person she knew in the room, she decided it was time to get it over and done with. Rising slowly, she walked over to Taylor, keeping her head down and avoid eye contact, like she did with everyone.
"Erm, hey Taylor." she said quietly, "Are you heading off then? Do you mind if I walk with you?" Nadzieja smiled shyly, pushing a lock of hair that had come loose from her ponytail behind one ear.

Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Taylor smiled as he watched Angela relax a little more, he was glad he was able to quell a few of her own fears about coming to Xavier's. Although they hadn't known each other that long something about Angie clicked with him, he was able to be himself around her, all of himself not just the fun, excitable guy that Taylor usually showed. There was something about that that also made him more comfortable around her, he hoped he would be able to see her some more, not just in the team missions and class. He had dropped around to see her after she had just moved in to see how she was getting on and he just hoped he would be able to drop over again like that and that she would realise that he wouldn't mind if she did the same.
"See ya in a sec," Taylor looked up at Matt and smiled as he left the room, he guessed he would be on his way to the Danger Room and so Taylor started to put himself into that mindset, preparing himself. He looked at Angie as she paid attention to Fear; he had seen her training a little with Conner when X-Treme had been in the Danger Room learning to work together and he had seen her getting used to using her powers and fighting off attacks; she had been quite impressive once she had lost her inhibitions and worries.
Before he could ask Angie about making there way from the room to he heard a familiar voice; "Erm, hey Taylor. Are you heading off then? Do you mind if I walk with you?" Taylor turned to see Hope had walked over towards him. He had been a little surprised by this approach seeing as the first time they had met he had made a bit of a fool of himself but he was glad that she hadn't held that against him and he did understand that due to her shyness she didn't really know many people and so Taylor wasn't about to make her feel worse and ignore her. If he was a little more accomidating of her shyness maybe she would open up a bit and get to know a few more people, it also meant that Angie would be able to meet someone new.
Swapping his gaze from Hope to Angie and then back again he spoke; "I guess we should get going. I don't mind if you want to walk over with us, better than walking alone isn't it." Taylor had unconciously said 'us' including Angie in the sentance, his eyes went wide for a second and he turned back to Angie, hoping he hadn't crossed any kind of line. "Uh, if your ready to go Angie? This is Hope, shes another student here." Taylor finished the introduction with a soft smile, suddenly moving is attention to Fear hoping he hadn't made the whole situaton awkward for both the young women.
Re: Preparing the Team Missions - The Gold Strike Force
Glancing over at the girl who approached Taylor, Angela then looked back down at Fear shyly, the empathic young woman listening quietly as the yellow skinned man spoke.
"I guess we should get going. I don't mind if you want to walk over with us, better than walking alone isn't it."
Personally Angela liked walking alone, probably because she was used to it, admittedly it wasn't as appealing to be on her own in this large school, but she loved to drift off into her daydreams while she walked.
"Uh, if your ready to go Angie? This is Hope, shes another student here."
The nickname caught her slightly off guard, but he was rewarded with a smile, the worry he had was partially felt but as for it being because he thought he agreed to something Angela might not have liked Angela wasn't aware. Her eyes moved from Taylor down to Fear and then at Taylor again, looking a little curious as to the odd feelings radiating gently from him.
"Sure," The brown hued gazed lingered on the table as she stood up with a sweet - though slightly nervous - smile on her lips. Fear hovered about just behind her shoulder, but as usual when she was with a group she wasn't all that familiar with she started to followed behind Taylor, letting him lead the way why she entertained herself by petting Fear.
