Racheal Felis
Name: Racheal Felis
Nickname: ‘Kitten’ – Dislikes it, tends to be used to annoy her.
Code Name: Feral
Affiliation: X-Men
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Birthday: 12th May 2004
Hair: Long, dark brown
Eyes: Green, Cat-like (may were green contact lenses to hide feline eyes)
**Appearance Note ~ She also has elongated canines, which are only visible if she fully smiles etc.**
Mother: Tasha Felis (not Marvel)
Father: Andrew Felis (not Marvel)

Powers: Racheal is a limited animal morpher. Her main morphs are feline, such as panthers and domestic cats. She can morph practically any cat, normally flawlessly. As well as cats, she can also morph: Dartford Warbler (small heath land bird), U.K. Kestrel, black bear, golden retriever, orca (killer whale) and thoroughbred horse and normally there is a slight flaw in these morphs. During morph, she is also a minor telepathic, able to speak to others of her choosing in their minds, no matter if they are telepathic or not. She is able to block most telepathics from exploring her mind (see history) and can/could explore the mind of her brother Jake. As a human, she retains a lot of her feline qualities, giving her advanced sight and amazing balance.

One draw back with her morphs comes if she is injured. When injured, she is unable to heal herself between morphs, and the injury will remain in proportion to her body, i.e. she cuts her wing as a bird, if she morphs to human, the cut will become larger and more threatening on her arm. Also, she is unable to keep a morph for extreme periods of time. Although able to morph for a few hours, after the first two hours, it becomes a struggle and she risks taking on features from that animal or de-morphing with no control.

History: Racheal was born in San Diego, where her father worked as a lawyer. As well as her mother and father, Racheal also had an older brother, Tom, and a twin brother (the older) Jake. The first sign of trouble came when Racheal and Jake were 5 years old. Their father, Andrew, had just taken on a case involving an ex-employee’s attack on a large corporate company. This company, Andrew discovered as he investigated, was highly involved in the research into genetic mutations in animals. The ex-employee claimed that this company had been handling illegally imported chemicals for the experiments, and when he had objected he had been dismissed. As the investigation by Andrew and also the police progressed, Andrew repeatedly turned down offers by the police to relocate his family. He refused to destroy their lives because of a ‘slight’ risk.

The twins were approaching their sixth birthday when a letter bomb came through their door. Later the police would claim that the family had been warned of the threat, and that the company had warned them to step back. What later happened to the company was not important now though. The twins had been asleep in their beds when the bomb exploded. In a matter of minutes, the house was alight. Racheal briefly remembers waking, smelling the smoke and her brother screaming next to her. She remembers her mother shouting for them to get out, and Tom coming in. Tom, by now, was about 13 years old, and he picked up his light siblings, in an attempt to get them out. After that, Racheal remembers little, passing out in her brother’s arms from smoke inhalation. Fire had surrounded the three, and by the time the fire brigade arrived it was too late, the house was no more, and their was no sign of the twins, though Tom’s body had been found in the ashes of the house, only a few meters from the safety of a window. Their parents had escaped, but distraught by the apparent loss of their three children, they had searched the area for months for any signs of the twins before leaving to England, where they had been born and still had family.

Against the odds, however, the twins had survived. When his brother and sister had passed out, Jake had been crying until he saw the door. He had tugged at his brother to try and wake him, but to no avail, instead turning to his sister, dragging her to the door, not in order to save her life as he was to distraught to think, but more to be able to have someone with him. Unknowingly at the time, he has saved his sister’s life. Out in the air, it was only a few minutes before Racheal woke, and seeing the fire, the pair, terrified, ran until they collapsed, exhausted. The pair hardly moved from a small hut they had found to hide in. They stayed there for over a week, terrified to go home, unaware of the terrible fate they now faced. Finally they returned to the house, only to see the destruction, and the flowers. A few months previous, Tasha had been taking them home from the park when they had seen flowers at the side of the road. When her babies started asking about them, she had gently explained that when a bad thing happened, and someone got very hurt and went away, people left flowers so they would be remembered. Racheal stood still as she looked at the flowers. A bad thing.. fire.. people hurt.. It took her a few minutes to piece them together “Went away hurt..” She murmured, looking at her brother. Taking his hand, tears rolling down her cheeks, she led him back to the hut.

The hut was in fact an old shed, no longer used. Unusually young, it was now that they realised their loss, fear and anger welling up inside, now something happened. Their newfound powers amazed them, though out of control at first (Racheal would end up morphing if anything scared her), both quickly took control of their powers. Like Racheal, Jake had the ability to morph, though his strengths were canines. Neither were able to morph the same animals, but together they made quite the team. It was Jake that first morphed, and realised their newfound freedom. A few supplies had been abandoned in the shed, but nothing they could survive off. So they turned to theft to survive. Able to morph, no one would suspect that the dog who raided a kitchen or a cat that stole a pie from an open window were in fact two homeless children, desperate to survive.

It was Racheal who first discovered the newspaper that morning. Ten years had passed since that fateful night, and Racheal and Jake – who nicknamed themselves Feral and WolfFang – had grown quiet aptly, managing to avoid detection by the authorities though they had been reported a few times, no one had ever found them. When Jake found Racheal reading, he was confused. Though Racheal had always enjoyed reading, normally she stuck to the well-worn stolen books on their small shelves in the hut that had protected them that first night. When asked what she was reading, Racheal explained. A gang of some sort had raided a nearby bank, brandishing special powers of some kind. Racheal had found reports of mutants before, though knowing Jake was sensitive about the subject, had never mentioned it. But now was the time. “It says here that there are specialists Jake, people who could help us… Maybe give us somewhere to stay..” Jake frowned, hating the idea immediately. “I’ve told you before. None wants to HELP us. Experiment with us maybe. You’ve heard the rumors as much as I have. And we’re fine here. We’ve survived so far haven’t we?”

A couple of days past before Racheal decided to act. She phoned the mutant ‘Helpline’. It was designed, it said, for families and friends who were worried that they might know a mutant. But you never know, they might help. She explained to the friendly voice that she knew of two mutants who needed help. They had never caused deliberate harm, and wanted help. She told them they were at a nearby street – a new house where nobody lived yet. She didn’t want to meet them, just see what they were doing. The voice said they would send someone around. Racheal didn’t see any harm in watching them. Maybe they really did want to help, if they did then she would greet them and take Jake to them.

Years of thieving and they had it down to a fine art. They had stolen all the essentials, and a few extras but never too much, convincing themselves that they weren’t hurting anyone. The essentials included decent clothes, so dressed in her normal jeans and top, she watched the house quietly from across the street. ”What are you doing?” Came the voice. She turned round, recognising her brother’s telepathic speech. The pair had discovered their ‘secret’ speech soon after they began morphing. They also discovered that their abilities were enhanced with each other, able to read each other’s thoughts, so both had developed a way of hiding their thoughts from each other, and later it was found from other telepathics. A red setter sat down beside her, it’s eyes frowning as Racheal spoke softly. “WolfFang, you made me jump… erm, those are those mutant helpers I mentioned. They’re checking out that house.” Jake seemed to realise immediately what Racheal had down, growling before de-morphing. At some point during the resulting argument, one of the team heard the commotion across the road from them. As he approached, he saw the unhidden emerald cat like eyes of a young girl in the mist of an argument, signalling to his team.

Nearly too late, the pair realised their mistake, a net of some kind landing behind them as they turned to flee. Morphing to feral cat and retriever, Racheal and Jake raced off in separate directions. Three of the team raced after the cat, which swiftly took to the nearby park, attempting to hide within the treetops.
Eventually, she lost the three, leaving them to wander around the land below. She panted softly, praying for the safety of her brother, calling silently out to him. When no reply came after thirty minutes, she began to panic. Maybe he was too far away, she told herself, trying to calm down as she raced for the hut. She couldn’t sense him anywhere. For a day, she waited for him to return. When he didn’t, she truly panicked. Taking a few supplies in a rucksack, she went out to search for him. Finally, she found the black ‘dog’ collar he always wore lying beside a quiet road.

She assumed the worse about her brother that day. Either hit by a car or taken, she believed he was lost to her. In a silent, unused area of the park, she made a small memorial to him, though kept his collar with her. She spent only one day to morn her loss, before deciding to leave her home, the land that had caused her so much pain.

Just over three years she spent alone, wandering from place to place before she saw mutants again. She followed them, keeping out of sight each time. They seemed to be a team, a group who helped one another, helped normal humans. She purred at the thought, for now unaware that that team were the legendary x-men.

Personality: Her years alone have caused her to become a bit of a loner by nature, though she silently wishes to be close to others again. The loss of her twin hurt her deeply, and she is scared to hurt another so will often keep her heart distant from others. Naturally kind natured, those who have met her in the past normally like her, though in a fight she will give as good as she gets. During her life, she has been hated for her talents and unusual appearance, which has made her a bit sensitive, though she relates well to others who’s mutation has affected them outwards as well as inwards. She thrives on her power, and often prefers to be in one of her feline morphs than be human, especially if meeting new people.

Although Racheal is not much of a team player, she won’t stand still if someone else is in trouble, and will help out when she feel’s it’s needed. Though she feel’s it’s unlikely she could ever grow close to anyone again, silently she dreams of days with friends and family. No matter what though, she would never give up her powers, a painful memory of her past, a gift for her future.

Likes: Animals in general, though has a natural relationship with cats, being treated like a person, a challenge, nature/woodlands etc, water inc. swimming

Dislikes: Fires, thoughtless use of fire etc, being called ‘Kitten’, people who treat her abnormally – even a strange look may get her on the war path, people who abuse their powers, not very understanding of mutants who want to be normal – little patience for those who won’t be what they are, cruelty to animals – particularly cats and those she can morph.

The thoughts of why she had delayed till the all too bright morning puzzled the girl, who walked quietly to the doors of the institute before her. She had planned to come at night, under the cover of darkness. Pupils narrow to slits in the new light, annoyance making her a little more edgy. She had been watching this place for sometime, and the security system had been easy to get through. After all, most birds can easily enter the most secure gardens. The girl paused as she looked at the two doors, flicking her long brown hair back behind an ear. Glancing down at her tattered cloths, she sighed. The jeans had worn out long ago, the denim blue nearly white now from constant wear, whilst the black t-shirt was now more of a grey, it’s white dragon emblem less visible than when she first snuck it from the store back at what used to be home. She fiddled for a moment with the black dog collar done up round her upper left arm, closing her emerald eyes in thought, remembrance. Round her neck deep purple velvet chocker with silver cross, the cross waving slightly as she turned to glance over her shoulder. Okay, so he would never had agreed to this, but he was gone, and things had changed. She glanced down at old worn trainers as she took a deep breath to try and relax, standing tall now as she pushed open the doors to the mansion.

She paused as silence greeted her, maybe too early for the residents to wake up. Hoisting her pack up on her shoulder a little, the few possessions she owned carried in the small bag, she quietly closed the door behind her, eyes wandering round the vast hall, trying to work out where each of the corridors led, just in-case a swift escape was needed. Okay, so others had come here – seemingly strangers, and never seemed harmed when she caught the occasional glance, but she knew that looks could be deceiving, after all, she was a master at that. The grounds outside had been thoroughly explored quietly over a number of days, possibly weeks. She lost count of days easily, each one separated only by the need to sleep – usually during the day. Again she wished she had not come quiet this late. In fact, if all had gone to plan, she might have already met someone else, but a stray cat had distracted her after getting stuck in a dustbin whilst raiding it.

Listening to the silence, she wondered what day it was, and whether anyone would be up this side of midday. Running her tongue over her elongated canines, she thought over her options. Shouting was an option, but never a really good idea, whilst running would put her back where she started. In the end, she settled for a less dramatic response, knocking lightly upon the door she had just come through, the silence allowing the soft sound of her entrance to echo round the halls, as if in a quiet hope of a response, an answer of some kind…

((OOC: Sorry the history is so long! Thought of shortening it, but didn’t feel right ^^. Also, didn’t see over used powers till after I had written the whole lot of this, though adjusted morphing powers to limit her more than I had her in previous role-plays. Hope that’s not a problem.:) ))

Re: Enter the Feral ((Application))
My apologies, I saw this yesterday but I wasn't on long enough to read over it, I'm not feeling well so reading isn't helping me *Sways dizzily* Anyway, thought I'd point out some things since I've been able to read bits of it.

First of all, the year is December 2023, the date is in the top of the side bar. So you need to alter her date of birth from 1984 to 2004.

There is a marvel mutant known as Feral, but I will allow your character to keep it, since it's highly doubtful anyone will play Feral at our board. All other admins are fine with my choice and agree with me as well..*Points highly advanced and powerful laser gun in their direction* :evil aren't you all?

The long history greatly increases the likely-hood of your acceptance in this RPG since we are based on quality and quantity. Your powers I will accept since we have lost a shapeshifter, your character is in a sense taking up that place, so I think the other admins will also be fine, the limited restrictions also make it good, well done.

other then that I have enjoyed your bio and give you one of the three needed stamps...*Stamps her on the head* There ya go! :D

Angela.

Re: Enter the Feral ((Application))
Thanks and thats fine. I hadn't come across Feral in Marvel before (been playing Racheal for a few years but to be honest never went through a though search of it). The date was a stupid thing I hadn't actually thought of properly - thanks for pointing that out!
