Age: 9 Birthday: August 8th 2014. Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown Height: Weight:
Other Physical Details: Chris is a little thin, he put more weight on during his two weeks with Amlarie, and while he’s not skin and bones, he is thin, it’s not so easily noticed until you see him undressed. A lot of boys can look thin but be rather healthy, Chris looks healthy for the most part until one sees he’s a touch thinner then ‘naturally skinny’ would count for. There’s a curiosity always about him, a desire to learn and yet he sometimes hesitates, and one can tell by the longing looks he tends to make towards something that he’s wanting to know more about.
Mother: Melissa ‘Missy’ Douglas. (Has dropped her last name and goes only by Missy) Father: Jerry Thornwood (Unknown to Chris) Other Important Relatives or People in their lives:
While Chris’s uncles have no blood connection to him, Chris grew up with these men in his life, they treat him like a member of their family, and therefore would call themselves his uncles with affectionate jest when he was a toddler, over the years it was something that stuck and Chris sees them as that.
Uncle Martin- 39 years old: Slightly confused and very paranoid, Martin suffers various mental problems but is relatively harmless, as long as people don’t act suspicious around him or play with his head… or are dressed in a suit. He’s thoughts are always scattered, but he cares a lot about Chris, and speaks very harshly of Missy and her need to grow up, but never around Chris himself. Martin has a tendency to lose track of his thoughts a lot, he’s also very paranoid about people following him. In the army he was on a special assignment that put his life at risk, carrying valuable information from one place to another and being trusted to take it to his grave. When his illness started surfacing after a mental breakdown, he is convinced there are people after him for the information he’d been trusted with… he just can’t remember what it was that he was supposed to keep secret. No one is after him, the war was long over and it was only the location of special agents undercover, he was supposed to get word to soldiers attacking enemy posts not to shoot men wearing white arm bands, which would be their identifying mark. Most of the people who were part of that were either dead or moved on.
Uncle Joseph- 42 years old: A man of god, he may not be crazy, but he does sometimes sound it when he speaks of god. He seems torn between believing the good lord has a greater plan for them all, and thinking god is loving nothing more then laughing at the misery life has to offer and seeing how his people deal with it, like some form of entertainment. But Joseph always talks about how god sets tests and tasks for people, sometimes he says that he’s lost his home because he took too many lives in a battle he knew nothing about. The fall to shame and poverty was punishment for his blind hostility and unquenchable need to mindlessly follow orders regardless of the suffering they caused. Joseph is always full of answers, even if they give little advice or don’t tell you what you need to hear, he tries his best to help sort out problems if it seems someone is calling out for aid. Joseph has a limp in his right leg, he walks slowly, his hands are usually folded together in front of his stomach, they lack strength and tend to shake slightly, though it’s hard to notice unless he’s not holding his hands together.
Uncle Henry- 46 years old: Henry was a librarian most of his life outside of the army, there was a period of time where he drank heavily and gambled after the accidental shooting of another officer. Henry’s wife stuck by for a few years, but when her savings were getting sapped and Henry’s words were nothing but an almost continuous drunken slur, Maria had packed her bags. Being the good man he once was, Henry knew she had no place to go, she had given up everything to be with him, and his constant shifting of places and dragging her around, she was too far away from family for them to help her and she only had a sister and a step dad, neither of which she was really close with. Henry had told her to stay in the house, while it was in his name at the time, he had taken much of her money after he had depleted his own savings, he had taken much of her life… In a split moment all had became clear, and he left knowing he too had no where else to go, she said he could stay if he made a promise to fix himself up, but Henry had little faith in his strength of will. Years had past, and while he has been ready to return for most of them, he’s afraid that she’s moved on and there’s nothing left for him. He never got to have kids, he didn’t want to start a family till he finished his years of service. For Henry, Chris was a chance at family, with his mother constantly awol, Henry got to help raise the infant, though Chris doesn’t really remember any it, they remind him with stories when he spends time with them. Missy moved a few streets away from Kentworth where he was born and where his uncles set up home, so Chris doesn’t see them as constantly as he had till he was five, something Henry has made clear causing him sadness and a constant worry for Chris’s wellfair.
Personality: Chris is a tough kid in some ways, but fragile in others, even if his street life has caused a few steel barriers to rise up. Unlike most cautious kids, Chris doesn’t use rudeness or hate to protect himself from getting hurt or used. Chris tries to stay polite, he worries about offending people, he knows that if someone is dangerous then offending them could set them off, however being polite could keep him alive. Of course, there was also the fact that if someone thought he was polite it could mean they might assume he was naive and an easy victim. Chris likes being honest, but has learned that honesty isn’t always the best or safest thing, he hasn’t learned however to judge when it’s the best to be honest and when not to, he gets it right most of the time, but he’s always worried he’s going something wrong.
Chris grew up being warned about how normal folk don’t like his kind, people of the streets that have no homes of their own, it never made sense to Chris until he met Connor, especially when he came to Xavier’s and saw how normal people lived. As far as Chris cared a little hand made shack or broken car or deserted building was home, depending on what was readily available at hand. Which makes Chris careful on how much he lets on to people about how little he knows about what they consider basic things, even reading and writing, which on the streets is not an issue, but in the school everyone seems to know how and that bothers Chris to a point he’s rather ashamed.
Likes:
Sweets. Though he doesn’t scoff them down, Chris likes to eat a little and if he can horde the rest for later nibbling.
Logan’s hot chocolate drinks…yummy.
Connor being all big-brothery.
Logan being all parenty.
Living at the school with Logan and Connor
Dislikes:
Some of the things Madison says to him. He doesn’t like how bad she can make him feel at times.
Not being able to read or write, he doesn’t want anyone to know and will try to keep it secret from others.
Powers and/or Skills: None.
While Chris has the mutant gene in him, it will lay dormant till he has kids of his own or as has happened in the past, it is forcibly activated prematurely. The dormant gene is based on physical possession, while it can mutate slightly, it’ll be based around the similar ability. For Chris the gene is based on his spirit possessing the bodies of animals, his body however remains in a coma like state till his spirit returns to it. (At this point there’s no plans for him being a mutant at all… it’s just random details)
Chris’s skills are limited to street smarts, he can survive on the streets and with no money.
History:
Born on a rather wet night, there was fear that Chris wouldn’t survive the cold, with his mother out of it and being taken to an emergency clinic after the birth had taken place, three men Missy knew were in charge of keeping the baby alive for the night. None of the men had ever had kids of their own, Joseph had a younger cousin he looked after a couple of times but that was it, so the men were a little over their heads, but over time, their care paid off.
