Return of a Hero
*Logan shifted uncomfortably as he walked towards the door of Charles' office. He wasn't afraid of the man. Wolverine wasn't afraid of anything. Facing the brink of death on a regular basis nearly every day of his exceptionally long life had taught him at least that much. But he had to admit he didn't like the idea of telepaths snooping around in his mind, and unearthing memories which he may not want unearthed.
It had always been a question, a nagging doubt in the back of Logan's psyche, as to how much Charles knew, and how much he revealed. Everybody had a right to know who they were. But Wolverine didn't have a clue as to his past life.
Silently he chided himself, the grizzled mutant had no need for his past life. He had built a new life with the X-men, had new friends, and most importantly, new family. It was his duty as a father to see that his children were prepared to face the world, even if they did have claws like those housed within his forearms.
He took a deep breath, and for the first time in their long working relationship, Logan raised his hand, and rapped Professor Xavier's door with his knuckles, the adamantium reinforced bones sounding loudly against the wood, waiting for a response.*
*As soon as the always calm voice of Charles Xavier sounded through the wooden panelling of the office door, Logan grasped the doorhandle and turned it, stepping into the office and closing the door behind him*
Wolverine: Evenin' Chuck..
*Even Logan's nonchalant manner wasn't enough to stop his face and actions portraying concern. The affair with Madison and Connor had shaken Logan. For the first time, he hadn't taken a hand in their rescue, and they were more important to him than to anyone else..Was the feral losing his edge..?*
Xavier:"It's good to have you back, you've been missed greatly, even if it has been a short time since you left."
*Logan couldn't help but snort at the comment. It was rare that Charles would consider it good for Logan to be around the mansion, more often than not, he was the reason trouble followed the X-men around! But Charles was right, even though it had only been a short time, it felt like it was a hell of a lot longer.*
Wolverine: A short time Professor, with a lot happening inside that time. And most of it doesn't smell right...if ya know what I mean...
*Logan declined the offered seat with a wave of his hand, indicating he preferred to remain standing as Charles continued*
Xavier:"How were things?"
Wolverine: Dangerous, but nothing I couldn't handle. You know me.
*Logan grinned and rubbed a palm over the set of knuckles on the adjacent hand, sending Charles an immediate message as to his exploits during the brief absence*
Wolverine: In all seriousness Charles, I was snooping around that place, the one that took Madison and Connor. Security is tight, meaning there's something there they don't want us to see. Unfortunately for them, I saw it.
*Reaching inside his jacket, Logan withdrew a computer disc in a see through plastic container, and dropped it onto Charles' desk, the disc making a slapping sound on contact with the wood. Logan gestured at it as he returned both hands to their respective pockets*
Wolverine: I'm not much good with computers, so I found some snotty lil scientist and used some methods of...persuasion to get that. Don't worry, he won't be squealing to anyone. It contains details of everything those guys have already done, and what they've got on their plate right now. Thought you might wanna take a look-see before I go bust some heads.
*Looking out of the window into the gloom, Logan rubbed his knuckles again, absent mindedly as he spoke*
Wolverine: Nobody, and I mean nobody touches my kids and gets away with it Charles. I'm not about to let you stop me either. But, I'm gonna give you a chance. With your permission, I'm gonna take the undercover team, and see if I can't set their progress back a couple of years.
Re: Return of a Hero
Remaining silent for a moment, Xavier glanced down at his desk for a moment, the moment of silence allowing him to carefully think over his feelings.
Xavier:"...The attack, when we rescued Madison and Connor, we caused a disturbance far greater then we realized.."
He leaned back in his wheel chair, his voice hinting that something important and something he had waited a long time for had happened.
Xavier:"...Do you remember my son? Jarod."
The Professor lookd up at the feral with determind eyes, these people had stolen from the X-Men for the last time.
Xavier:"Apparently...these people use mutants, not only for experimentation, but for personal gain. They took my son from me Logan, they used his gifts to destroy lives."
The professor seemed to stop himself from going down a road that would obviously lead to him growing angry. Too much was at risk, even with all this, the headmaster must always keep his calm.
Xavier:"He showed up recently after you left. Due to...certain problems I haven't had the chance to talk with him face to face. He's lived there his entire life, I suggest you have a chat with him about the layout and security systems. "
