Re: Reunion . . . ?
Dunno really but I'd be very surprised if they do at the moment. Glenn's too busy with his new album and getting the band together as Mags says.
Personally I wouldn't think it was a step in the right direction for Glenn or Chris - never go back and all that - but anything's possible. They're both quite rightly very proud of what they achieved in Squeeze and I couldn't imagine them never playing a gig together again. Maybe the format will change. Who knows!!
Re: Reunion . . . ?
By the looks of Glenn's face on the VH1 site (before they deleted that photo, I hasten to add *wonders why and who deleted it*), it doesn't look like an overly successful event.
I agree with never looking back but . . . Bloody hell, I'd love to see Glenn and Chris reunited again. I think they're fantastic as solo artists, but they're bloody incredible as a duo.
Re: Reunion . . . ?
Good 'eavens, Vix. You're right. For some reason Glenn's 'pissed off' picture has been taken off, although the rather happier one of Chris is still up there. I wonder what happened there? I don't think our Glenn is good at hiding his feelings, if that picture is indeed telling the story we think it may be!
I love to hear Glenn perform all the Squeeze songs that he does and most of the time it doesn't make any difference to me at all that there's just him and his acoustics up there on the stage . I discovered Squeeze very late in the day (199 and had to mug up on the band's music and also its history at great speed from Squeezefan.com. The rapid overview this gave me of 20 odd years left me feeling that Squeeze had really run its course and that both its prime movers were going in ever decreasing circles.
So, once I got over the shock of them splitting, I thought it was the best thing for both of them to go off and do their own thing unfettered by the baggage that inevitably came from being in the band machine for so long.
I still think this is the case, and that a reunion would involve all sorts of problems, and compromises which neither of them might be prepared to make after so long apart.
But sometimes I do get a yen to hear Squeeze - really proper unadulterated Squeeze, with the full band and the Glenn/Chris High/Low vocal thing. I felt that when listening to Electric Trains the other day. And I also think they love each other to bits and get a great buzz from working together, so some sort of reunion will be inevitable at some stage.
Whatever they do, I'm going to go and see it!
Sorry.....I only meant to write a few lines and it's turned into a dissertation!
