PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Robyn is the sort of person you can't help but notice, and possibly stare at. Although she stands a mere 5"2 and has a slender figure she makes an instant impression. Nine times out of ten the first feature a stranger notices about her is her hair. Robyn has always been a person who likes to express herself through style and her hair tends to be whatever colour she chooses. Although naturally a mousy brunette her hair is currently dyed a combination of pale blonde and bright pink. The ends of her straight, just below shoulder-length, locks are a dark blue, remnants from a blue phase more than a year ago. Although she has no particular attachment to the colour pink in any other part of her life or style she does like the colour on her head and is likely to keep it for awhile.
Pale skin that burns rather than tans is due to her mother's Irish roots and she has the long slender figures of a piano player although she gave up the instrument years ago due to a lack of patience. Robyn sees nothing wrong with using makeup to accentuate natural features and doesn't often go out without mascara, eye liner and pink shimmering lip gloss that matches her hair. Eyebrows retaining her natural light brunette colouring arch over grey-green eyes.
Robyn's voice is a breathy soprano and she uses it often, tending to babble or talk about nothing in a way that causes strangers to stare open-mouthed for a few minutes before they get accustomed to her manner. Although close to adulthood at eighteen her small stature and voice along with a habit of loosely braiding the hair she does have into pigtails can result in her being mistaken for younger than her actual age. Her gait does not help matters as she tends to half skip and half walk when in a positive mood and her steps seem without energy and slow when Robyn is feeling less optimistic.
Robyn does enjoy jewelry and wears a circular silver pendant a great deal of the time but sometimes opts for other items, especially ones including gemstones. She likes to wear heels and boots that add to her height but is just as at home in a comfortable running shoe. When it comes to style Robyn does whatever she feels like, ranging from lounging in a pair of sweatpants and a tank to jeans and a hoodie to a miniskirt or sundress. She'll wear just about any colour but does, oddly enough avoid pink, sticking to her assertation that pink is a little too Glinda the good witch for her a comment which, considering her powers, has resulted in momentary speechlessness in many she has informed of this particular view.

POWERS:
Bubble Powers
Robyn's powers are threefold but all are related to what she thinks of as "her bubbles".
Protection
Robyn is capable of creating a protection bubble around herself. This bubble serves as an invisible wall that protects against bullets and other threats as well as keeping enemies away from those enclosed in the bubble for as long as it lasts. Robyn cannot create bubbles around another person but is able to contain more than one person so she could enclose herself and a friend or two standing directly beside, behind or in front of her. The protection bubble is something that depends on focus and patience, two things that the flighty Robyn can sometimes lack in. Under pressure she finds that she often does better than when simply practicing for fun because the stakes are higher. Often the protction bubble, which has never lasted more than five minutes, is a device Robyn uses to deflect a blow like a gun firing in her direction or another momentary event . Otherwise it is used to buy time until back up arrives or another solution presents itself. Although not hugely draining to Robyn she cannot simply let one bubble collapse then form another one, it takes time to regroup and at the very minimum there must be an hour between uses of this particular power. These bubbles cannot move with a person and effectively only protect a certain space. Although they do not "pop" from the outside with a touch as the bubbles from liquid do, protection bubbles can be popped from the inside and are fragile in this sense. Taking any more than one step in any direction will cause the bubble to waver and dissolve as its energy depends on staying still.
Containment
A more recent emergence is this function of her powers, containing a person in a bubble. Unlike her protection bubbles, which are transparent but have slight changes in colour and visible outer form, containment bubbles are translucent. This means that those contained in a bubble see the world outside as blurred, much like a person seeing without their glasses or contacts. Similarly the insides of a bubble appear blurry and distorted.
Robyn is able to erect a bubble around a person or thing to keep it stationary. Unlike protection bubbles these bubbles are not fragile from the inside and function by containing a person in a seemingly solid space. This person can not get out unless a force from the outside, like a mutant energy blast or other power, penetrates the bubble and dissolves it from the outside. Otherwise the bubble dissolves based on its maker, Robyn.
How soon a containment bubble dissolves depends both on distance from the item contained and on size. A small item can obviously be contained for longer with less effort. Distance is also a factor and Robyn can contain items or people up to a block away from her without trouble but moving any further away than this makes the containment bubble unstable and more easily penetrable. In essence it is a short term solution that works to slow down a pursuer and buy time to escape but does not actually contain an enemy for long.
Flight by Bubble
It is this last use of her powers that has landed Robyn with the nickname Glinda for, like the good witch of the movies, she is capable of short flight by way of bubble, good for entrances and exits. Since this sort of flight is hardly inconspicuous it is a skill she uses when she has to or within the safety of the grounds at the institute instead of soaring around the city. Bubble flight is highly subject to winds and weather and Robyn does not have a great deal of control over where she goes so it is often used as an escape neccessity rather than as a way of getting from place to place. Also, this type of flight is mainly for hovering and not for a height surpassing an average tree so Robyn stays mostly close to the ground and travels only shorter distances. What she does control is being able to raise off the ground and lower herself back onto it at will. Unfortunately bubble flight, like the other variations of her powers, involves a great deal of control and focus so a distracted Robyn might find herself falling a few feet to the ground. These types of bubbles encompass only Robyn and she is unable to take any person along for a ride although she would likely be able to manage something small, like a cat or an item such as a book. These bubbles are visible with a slight sheen to their outside but are also largely transperant and the casual observer might miss the bubble and be startled by the hovering pink haired girl.
You must tell us her/his powers, and everything that s/he's able to do with them. You cannot just say, s/he is Psychic, and then have your character moving objects, talking into people’s minds, flying, taking over the body movements of others..etc..try and describe everything those powers can do, if you want to have your character start off with only minor control over their powers, fine, but still tell us what their powers will grow into
Also note that there is a list of overused powers at the top of the application section and that we will NOT accept characters with overly strong abilities for new players. Chances are you will be asked to give some more information on particular parts of the powers, possibly alter bits etc. That's normal, don't worry.
HISTORY:
Melissa Myles was a careerwoman who rose in the business world quickly after her University graduation and who never looked back. She had friends, a great job and everything she thought she could ever want until suddenly she turned thirty and realised that she didn't have a man and didn't have the time to go looking for one. It wasn't so much the man she missed as what came with having a man. She dated sometimes and she had flings but she couldn't find that person she wanted to settle down with. Yet she was thirty and believed the clock was ticking and what she did want was a child. Melissa has always been seen as independant and a do-it yourselfer so she took an unusual root and searched for a sperm donor.
The donor was anonymous of course but there were certain features listed. Melissa picked a blonde, grey-eyed doctor who loved artistic pursuits and went ahead with the process. What hadn't been included in the donor file was the fact that the anonymous doctor was a mutant with an X-gene he was about to pass on to a daughter he would likely never know he had had.
The pregnancy went well and Melissa delivered a baby girl in early June. She took the first little while off work and used her considerable savings as well as some skimping on costs to make it work and baby Robyn was happy and healthy and normal. As much as a part of her wanted to she couldn't stay at home with Robyn forever and returned to the work force. During the day little Robyn stayed at the house of Melissa's best friend, Karen Stair. Karen was raising a son a year and a half younger than Robyn and was happy to keep an eye on Robyn, who she came to think of as her daughter.
The two only children grew up as siblings and Robyn often led the adoring Anthony into trouble but it was never serious, just things like accidental spilling of paint on the carpet or tripping in the park as a result of a game she had begun. As they got older it became quite apparent that Robyn was extremely creative and she was capable of keeping both herself and Anthony entertained through crafts, games and other imaginings. Melissa would read to her in the evenings, the only time when she would actually sit still and listen without chatting.
Whenever Robyn was not around the house seemed quieter and duller somehow but she had friends beyond Anthony at school and was frequently on sleepovers with girls her own age. The other moms commented that she was the life of the party.

PERSONALITY:
Robyn is one of those people who is often described as "one of a kind". Generally she is a fun person to be around with a high energy level and an ability to talk a mile a minute. This is either amusing or annoying depending on who the listener is and she tends to draw an extreme reaction from people, they either like her or they don't. This doesn't mean that there isn't the potential for growing to like her over time though, it just means that instantaneously she is either loved or hated.
A bright enough girl but often lacking the ability to just sit still and apply herself to one task she leaves a wake of unfinished ideas and projects in her path, rarely seeming to follow through on anything. As a student she recieved average marks but rarely anything exceptional unless a project involved extreme creativity. She does have an eye for design and a tendancy to draw or sketch when bored and is also a fairly decent writer who carries a small notepad everywhere just in case something hits her. Flighty and fickle Robyn's moods change easily and she is just as capable of being "bitchy" and sullen as she is of being bright and daring. Sometimes classified as a ditz upon first impressions those who get the chance to know her find she's just flighty but is smart enough if she wants to be.
Robyn does tend to be touchy about her powers. She doesn't like comparisons to Glinda and prefers the codename "Sphere", finding "Bubble" to be too girly and pink for her liking. Keys to getting her to open up are any kinds of talk about the arts. She used to play the piano and sometimes wishes she still could and dabbles in vocal music although she has no formal training. Writing and drawing are both hobbies of hers and she is a passable watercolour artist if she were to complete a project. When she puts her mind to it she is capable of thinking clearly, logically and coming up with a plan of action or a design, it's just a matter of being challenged or finding herself in a situation where it is neccessary to step up and under pressure she thrives.
