Rogue - The Southern Belle
Name: unknown
Nickname: none ("chérie" by Gambit... but he calls every female like that)
Code Name: Rogue
Affiliation: X-Men
Gender: Female
Age: 39
Hair: auburn with white streaks
Eyes: 2, green
Mother: unknown (homo sapiens)
Father: unknown (homo sapiens)

Powers:
Rogue's touch no matter with which body part absorbs the strength, talent, memory, personality and mutant power or other if existing for a time
60 times longer than the contact itself. This power cannot be controlled which is why she has to wear a bodysuit and gloves in order to protect her friends and comrades.
The person from whom she absorbed those qualities lacks them as long as Rogue possesses them and even after that, a shadow of that personality remains
in her subconscious.
exception: For some unknown reason, Rogue was able to steal the ability to fly (with subsonic speed) and to survive for a short amount of time in outer space, supernatural body strength and seemingly high
resistance against a variety of toxics and poisons from the original Ms. Marvel aka Carol Danvers without any limitation.
Z'Cann, an alien telepathic shapeshifter, used her powers to let Rogue's powers evolve and thus amplified her capacity to assimilate memories with which she's still trying to
come along...

History:
Little is known about Rogue's past before her mutant powers awakened as she kissed Cody Robbins. The guy went to hospital and little Rogue who
was raised in Caldecott County, Mississippi, near the Mississippi River, realized she had far bigger problems than getting a date and being bankrupped.
Being a true survivor, he made the best of her difficult situation and followed Mystique's invitation to join the 3rd Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (a terrorist organization) after
having been with that mutant who had been like a 2nd mother to her for a while.
One of her assignements was to steal Ms Marvel's powers in order to free imprisoned members of the Brotherhood but instead of just keeping them
temporarily, Rogue *possessed* them afterwards... and the personality of Ms Marvel - Carol Danvers - who was buried in the back of her conscious.
However, after having battled the X-Men and several other groups and beings of the "other" side, the "southern plant" grew increasingly upset with
her inability to control her powers and the fear of her other personality to take over one day. Realizing that the Brotherhood was unable to help her,
she decided to ask the X-Men for help and against all doubts of his "children", Prof Xavier believed in her trustworthiness which she proved in the following
years over and over again.
Although Rogue got finally rid of Davers' personality, she was never able to control her very own power while her stolen ones came and went due
to different reasons until they became stable and a real part of herself.
After a small liason with Magneto with whom she still has a strange love-hate relationship (in an alternate universe [the Age of Apocalypse where Xavier
had never been able to gather the X-Men but died] the two were even married and had a child), Rogue met Gambit (Remy LeBeau), a new member of the X-Men.
The two of them ever since had to go through a caleidoscope of emotions, constantly pending between love and hate, and with Rogue having absorbed
a part of Gambit's dead wife's personality it didn't become easier.
As the world they all knew seemed to come to an end (the AoA), the both kissed passionatly... which put Gambit in a coma and made Rogue leave
the X-Men for a while to "find to herself" again as it turned out that the "normal" universe would keep on existing.
Not longer after having returned, Rogue and the rest found out some dark secret of Gambit's as she, once again, kissed him to get hold of his memories.
They left him back in danger and having also absorbed his self-hatred, she began to hate him deeply.
Later on, hating her "curse", Rogue tried to get rid of her powers but was convinced by Mystique not to undergo the treatment.
As many of the original X-Men left, Rogue along with few others as Storm and Wolverine and some newbies as Nightcrawler and Shadowcat stopped
Cerebro who had gone "mad" (as much as a computer is able to) to kill millions of innocent people.
As Gambit finally but unexpectedly returned, Rogue overcame her hatred (most of what she had absorbed from him was gone anyway) and the two of them
dated again. Having much of a freespirit, they never married or even were together as Jean and Scott but had a pretty open relationship with passionate and cold phases depending
on different factors.
Since then, Rogue stayed with her friends as a loyal X-Men and fought evil as the rest trying to totally overcome her past which she is more and more able to.
However, she could never see Mystique as an enemy...

Personality:
Rogue is not the brightest when it comes to scientific topics but in normal life, she can be pretty clever.
other important attributes are most of all her hot temper, the affection for the dark side which she hasn't totally given up yet and her protectiveness towards those who are weaker than
her and/or who she loves.
- protective
- easy to enrage

Likes:
swimming; "real men"; Mystique, her adopted mother so to say,
and Nightcrawler who is thus sth like her brother; her power... sometimes;
Gambit (most of the time) who is her part-time lover and most of her comrades as Bobby Drake/Iceman, one of her closest friends, who has his apt. close to hers.
"romantic stuff" depending on her mood

Dislikes:
people acting arrogant (mainly towards her when she's speaking very southy again); voyeurs (or perverts as she would call 'em); her power... sometimes

Sample Post:
The large estate was incredibly quiet considering the mass of students and technical appliances being behind the old building's walls.
Hardly any homo sapiens knew what was going on in there when it wasn't night. On the other hand, none of them really *wanted* to know about
it. However, there were a few people who couldn't sleep for very different reasons.

The reason of the slender woman leaving her rooms was rather simple.
"Damnit, Bobby, what's it with you and ya nose?!" Rogue swore under her breath while escaping from
Iceman's almighty snore attack.

"Hey sugah, whatcha doin'? Being up tha' late, isn't it bedtime or somethin'?" Rogue entered the kitchen, grabbed a chair and sat down, grinning.

"But ah'm one to tell, huh? Frosty decided he doesn't need one o' his room's walls and pulls it down...." She chuckled at the other's shocked expression.
"Nah, not literally, sweetie"

Looking out of the window, her eyes grew dreamy. "Isn't the moon wonderful these days?" A tear chose just that moment to leave her eyes and slowly rolled down
her cheek.

Rogue laughed in embarrassement. "Silly meh, why am ah cryin'? Must be the years..... romantic though.... wonder where Remy tha' bastard is..."

There was no aggression in her voice. From her, it sounded more like a pet name.

"Doesn't help t' stare outta the window! This gal needs her beauty sleep and, hell, ma name wouldn't be Rogue if ah'd let some sunnyboy keep meh from it. Gonna drain him
till he faints and hello sweet dreams!"

She got up, brushed through her brown mane with the white streaks and grinned evilly.
Of course she wouldn't do it... not yet....

Forlorn Dream

Re: Rogue - The Southern Belle
*shudders skimming through the profile* … I’d SO nag at that! :x
Anyways, after some time of playing her I know realised that “my” Rogue has developed in a way making her different from the canon character. Due to Angie’s and my excessive mush stories, she’s grown soft *hangs head in shame* but there are some more differences. Also it is to say that the history I put into the original application ages ago was mostly copied, pasted and rephrased … << .. >> … so there are some details that seem totally out of place but I’m too lazy to edit it. There’ll be some things I might edit with a new player for Gambit around who knows so much more about the Marvelverse than I do - however, I can’t suddenly warp her into a different person…

Update (affects appearance, personality, history and powers):
There are two contradictive sides of the southern gal that – for once – have nothing to do with any sort of split personality. Although her almost 40 years of age are not noticeable on the outside*, Rogue has grown a bit more responsible than she used to be, still bad-tempered but more able to hold herself back. Mentally, however, she is rather naïve in regards to romantic feelings, her inability to have a real relationship having deprived her of the experience and understanding that normally comes along with it so naturally. It is because of this that she sometimes finds herself unable to speak about her emotions, to even recognise them as what they are. Constantly thinking of a person she might mistake for love although it is just curiosity (or the other way around) – something she knows all too well and made her reluctant to approach others on a level that’s beyond playful flirtations or a loose (and strangely platonic though the Cajun was known to steal kisses from her, despite the effects on his health) affair.

The peculiar relationship with Spike (insane vampire from an alternate reality who started off as a “prisoner of war” at the mansion and became an ally) increasingly sensitised her to her own dilemma’s true nature as she saw her own sentiments mirrored in his. By struggling to find the words to get him out of his state of self-loathing, she gradually realised that she was not alone, had never been – not the only forsaken creature forced to spend her whole life without love. With him, it was different than with Remy – the plain physical aspect aside – he didn’t undermine her self-esteem as the Cajun unintentionally had but free-willingly gave himself into her hands still feeling unworthy of her growing affection.

Worried the only reason why she was seeing him was his partial immunity against her Touch, Rogue tried to distance herself from the other on several occasions as did he for similar reasons. After they finally felt completely assured of the other’s feeling, when the southern belle eventually realised that this was maybe more than affection for a bad more which she suspected her feelings for Remy to have been, however, Rogue was recruited as part of the Witch King’s guard, her will and mind completely taken over by one of the ancient entity’s minions.

The spectre’s cruelty was hard to bear for Spike’s instable mind, worries becoming certainty as “Rogue” continued acting so unlike herself, in the exact way the vampire had expected her to treat him right from the start – as the monster he thought to be. Circe, alarmed by the sudden disappearances and Spike’s bizarre story, eventually managed to locate the gathering place of the Witch King’s guard, William all the more determined to get the Rogue he knew back.
The battle with Kayel the absorption mutant was forced to fight shattered every bone in her body but also weakened the possessor’s grip, giving her awakening consciousness the chance to fight against the intruder, numbing it with pain – yet the final decision of what to do was rather when her eyes obeyed commands again, allowing her to see the souled vampire’s features.

Desperately hoping that he would get her back somehow - to a degree that it seemed unquestionable knowledge to her – Rogue forcefully unlocked the door her subconscious as well as Jean Grey’s and Xavier’s combined powers had sealed years ago when Z’Cann’s modifications had made it even harder for her to keep a grip on herself. The “personality shadows” of all whom she had ever touched were released within an instant, a silent prayer and whispered words being the last untouchable things remaining as she fainted. The sacrifice forced out the possessing spirit but also flooded her very own self away, the sheer mass of other personalities making it impossible for the tired Rogue to put up a fight.

Her body was once more reigned by others than herself, a risk she had been willing to take since contrary to the spectre, those shadows were just that. They had no real will although struggling with one another, their number being the only true reason why Rogue could not easily get back into control. It was then that – unbeknownst to her – the true nature of her powers showed. Being linked to its original abilities, the personality taking over could naturally tap into a secret room inside the southern belle. As a matter of fact, she had never lost what she had stolen but instinctively stored away after a certain amount of time – a subconscious part of her mind aware that Rogue would be unable to handle what came along with using another creature’s powers, the risk of losing herself.

Spike, however, had never realised what it was his lover had been doing and thus mistook Wolverine’s personality taking over for Rogue having changed her mind again; something that could be blamed on his frail sanity and low self-esteem. When the southern belle managed to emerge, the thought of the other waiting “outside” giving her strength, she found herself abandoned by love, betrayed trust tossing her back again.

Different factors allowed her to return weeks later, special constraints making sure she would not run riot impersonating Juggernaut or someone of similar danger. It took even longer until Rogue found the strength to seek out Spike who had left the Institute; the question why he had failed her haunting the absorption mutant’s mind. Confronting him with the facts showed all too clearly that their love had not been affected, yet it also made Rogue realise that every way they could walk together would lead to a dead end.

* Said “storage” of absorbed mutation powers seems to not have fully affected Wolverine’s slow aging that has stuck with her during the past decades, letting her physically grow older less rapidly than even Storm but faster than Logan. The real extent of this effect will only show at a later point in time though.

"So they intruded our top secret training missions on that secluded island in the middle of nowhere by simply landing there? Wow... now that's really making me feel safe."
