Skald... Why me
It felt as if I were in an abyss never stopping, always moving this way or that... then suddenly a bright light brought me back to conciousness.

This body... large and powerful, I looked to my left and saw a man.. He later told me his name was Sven and an Elder in the House of Bragi.

Blindly I asked him who Bragi was. Though the full answer took 4 seasons to get completely, I learned that Bragi was a great Poet and and inspiring warrior of the Midgard's.

I awoke suddenly one night and wandered into the House of Bragi's Manor, I felt drawn to something... I did not know what.

Suddenly my feet refused to go further and i kneeled onto the floor as if I'd done this before, removing a floor board i found a moldy and dusty tome.

I replaced the board and left, not wanting to be discovered In a place I did not belong in at this late hour.

When I returned to my camp and relit my fire, and began to poor over the text taking each word in every possible meaning, not wanting to miss a thing.

After I finished reading the book several times, I came to several points, Bragi was a great warrior indeed, but there was something about him shouting many things and using some unknown secret power.

at my age I did not know much about Magicks but I felt compelled to know more, so i returned to Sven and asked him what it all meant.

He said to return when the new season came. And so I did.

Sven once more took on his most solemn voice and said " Milicand your interest in the teachings of Bragi is inspirational to us all, now do you accept the path that Bragi himself has set in front of you?"

Stunned there really was only one way to answer my questions and so I said that I would do my utmost to live up to the great warrior.

Sven turned about quickly, and i thought i caught a glimpse of a smile on his face, but when he returned his face was hard as stone.

He held in his hands a sword, which i could tell was magnificent due to its craftsmanship.

Sven said that it will unlock my mind to all of my questions, and so i reached for the hilt.

When my first fingertip touched it my vision turned cold white. Whiter than the snow in Uppland, and i felt a surge of power flow into me and my vision restored quickly.

Sven said " Bragi has chosen you you will be a powerful ward for our realm. Now as you know the 3 main poems of Bragi, intone one know." and so I did and suddenly i felt like a wolf running through the forest.

Sven said "when the poems of Bragi are intoned by a student of his teachings the words will give you extra power to move like a wolf on the hunt, add to your might and make your enemies tremble, or tend your wounds if you are hurt. You can also harness the power of feeling and use it to damage your enemies, stop them from moving or slow them so they may taste your wrath"

He said "this is the path you have chosen, and I think you have chosen wisely."

I lay awake many moons after still amazed at what I had been able to accomplish due to this power I had been granted.

I was fearful that I might not live up to the great warrior, and did not think i could handle the responsibility for it.

Another few moons past and once again laying up from my bedroll, I sprang to my feet.

I ran to a large boulder, replaying my negative thoughts one by one i dismissed them.

Feeling a howl begin to rise inside of me i looked to the sky and howled, Howled like a wolf on a full moon.

I had made a decision. I proclaimed it loudly so the winds tooks it to every part of Midgard, " I accept the responsibility I am A Skald of Bragi! May my enemies fear me and may my comrades revel in the coming glory of a new Warrior to the ranks of the realm."

More to come.
