Sleeping in doesn't always bring good mornings...
ooc- Juuust to fill in for Jason. Felt he needed something done to fill in the time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blue eyes slowly opened then closed shortly after as a yawn escaped, the only sound in the silent room. Eyes flickered opened instantly not a moment later as the green mutant sprung up out of his bed. ‘No, no, no...’ was the only word on Jason’s mind as he slowly looked over to his alarm clock. 8:03 it read. ‘… No!’ his mind insisted as he closed his eyes, gave them a rub and reopened them and focused once again on the alarm. This time the bright red numbers flickered over to 8:04 as he stared at it, as if taunting him.

Collapsing back into his bed, Jason stared up at the ceiling as his mind muttered cursed words that no decent mother would want their son to know. No, there was no time to sulk, it was only a few minutes after the time that Mystique had set. Perhaps if he went over to the meeting room now he could still catch them. Surely what Mystique said about leaving someone behind if they were late was a joke of some sort. Yet, leaping out of his room and down the hallway he knew the odds of that were a billion to one.

Approaching the corner of the corridor stood two useless mutants, chatting about something useless most likely for that is what they were to the Brotherhood. Useless. There was no time to stop and ask them to move or even to barge past them so keeping with his leap, which was much quicker than his run, he leaped over them narrowly missing hitting his head on the ceiling.

Upon landing, Jason froze instantly. Mystique was standing there. Mystique was standing alone. That only meant one thing; he was late. He missed out. He was in trouble.

A frustrated sigh escaped from the son of Toad. There was no escaping this now, unless... the blue skinned mutant hadn’t looked over to Jason, she wasn’t looking in his direction anyway. Maybe, just maybe, she was yet to notice him.

He took a step backwards, being sure to move slowly since faster movements might attract attention. Turning around, he continued to move away slowly. Slipping back around the corner he pushed past the two useless mutants who gave an annoyed ‘hey’ which caused the leaping mutant to look over his shoulder at them. A moment before he was thinking about how useless they were. They weren’t invited to the meeting. They weren’t important, therefore they didn’t get to go today but now Jason wasn’t on that assigned mission. He was here, stuck with the useless ones. Returning his gaze back before him as he resumed walking, his head lowered slightly to focus on the ground before him. He was now a useless one.

Now where was he to go? He had nowhere else. This was home. Sure, it wasn’t a palace or somewhere fit for royalty, but it was the only place he was actually comfortable with calling home.

Looking up, Jason realised he had walked right back to his room, a step further would have him squashed against the door. Opening the door and stepping into his room Jason slammed it and leaned against the door. He knew he couldn’t stay here, Mystique would find him and he would cop an earbashing from her, not to mention the extra loads that would come from both Victoria and Shauna.

A knock a moment later pulled Jason from his thoughts and back to reality. Knock, knock. Again, and before the green mutant could ask who it was a simple, feminine ‘It’s me,’ was said. Victoria. Instantly he lunged for the door. He should have took a moment to think about it and not been such a puppy excited and ready for a walk. Should have, but didn’t.

Opening the door, he bent down and gave her a kiss before speaking.

“You slept in too, huh? – Wait a minute… The Victoria I know would never sleep in for something like this…” His voice slowed as he finished up that sentence as his mind began registering things. Late and most possibly angered a shapeshifter. Golden orbs flaring from Victoria’s figure and it was confirmed. Victoria had gone to the mission with all the others.

Quickly he began spitting to clean out his mouth. What was worse, the fact that the she tricked him or that he had actually kissed Mystique? He’d never live this down if it got out.

“Don’t be such a fool.” He was still cleaning out his mouth, wiping his tongue with his jumper. “I have come to inform you that you will all be judged together. They fail, so do you.” Jason looked up from his jumper. Did that mean he was off the hook? He wasn’t sure, it probably wasn’t fair on some level, but he’d take it. Now one down, two to go. Two, how that number seemed so big at the moment...

“Okay,” he started slowly, still unsure if he’d gotten off or it was just coming, before quickly adding, “But don’t do that again!” A quick spit again and he watched as Mystique turned into her true form. A mischievous smirk plastered on her lips, which only seemed to bug Jason more.

Mystique had given the second chance because Jason would prove himself at a later date. Hopefully. Maybe she was just feeling soft, but surely he wouldn’t let down the Brotherhood again. At least that was what he was telling himself right now. She walked off, leaving the green mutant to be. He had an entire weekend of nothingness, that should prove punishment enough for him, with the added fact that he could do nothing to help his future at the Brotherhood. It lied it in everyone else hands.

Jason looked at his alarm again. Ironically beeping now. 8:16. The rest of the weekend would take a lifetime...
