Study?...I think not!
Tessa sat crosslegged on her bed, Clay at her side.
They were suposed to be studying, big bio test tomorrow and all but Tessa's mind had stopped functioning for the day it seemed.
It was almost as if she could sense that something was wrong but didn't know just what it was. Almost as if she had lost a friend somehow. That wasn't possible though and Tessa shook her head to ward away the strange thoughts.
"Do you think we should at least try to study?" Tessa asked Clay with a sigh. She really hoped he'd say no. Naturally there was never really a time when one wanted to study but now had to be the worst time ever.
"Well you don't want to and we have been studying all week," Clay said. She could tell by one look at his face that he had been reading her mind once more. Not literally of course like some people at Xavier's but he had known what she was thinking, like he always had. Like always though it was partially what he wanted and he had a good reason for what he was doing.
Glad to put the studying behind her, Tessa closed her textbook. "Glad that's over with," she said with a real smile this time.
"I guess we need something else to do then," Clay said sensibly. Typical. He was always the logical one.
"This is going to sound strange but would you mind if we went to find a teacher?" Tessa asked hesitantly.
"Not at all," Clay said but he had picked up that something in her voice. Amazing how he could read people like that. "Do you mind if I ask why?"
"I-I don't really know. I just want to make sure everything's alright here. I have this strange feeling that something's wrong and I know it's probably just that-a feeling I need to know for sure," Tessa said urgently.
"Alright I think I understand," Clay said and he closed his own textbook and stood up as she did.
Together they left the room, searching for a teacher to shake away Tessa's strange feeling of doom.
*Gambit was talking with 3 students, all of whome where complaining about one thing or another. The cujans expression was rather pale, as if he'd been hearing these students complaining for hours on end.
He flashed Tessa and Clay a smile as they approched, then returned to listening to the boy who was complaining that Wolverine was being to harsh on him. The older boy was more upset over his dorm and the strick rules, like no leaving the grounds after dark and a girl seemed to be complaining about some students that kept showing off their powers, all in all Gambit seemed overwhelmed with what they had to complain about*
Gambit:"Remy luv t'help ya kids, but he's a lil'busy, 'sides, ain't Xavier the one ya'll should be tellin dis to?"
*The girl turned and stormed off, the 2 boys watched her go and then where about to keep yelling when they saw Tessa heading towards them, both grinned*
Sam:"Hey Tessa! Ready for the bio test tomorrow?"
John:"Good luck for the test tomorrow, I bet you'll do great!"
*Both grinned once more before turning and running off, Gambit let out a sigh*
Gamit:"Shooo...Remy know who t'call next time he get's trapped like dat.."
Re: Study?...I think not!
Tessa smiled back in a purely friendly manner and raised one eyebrow teasingly at her friend.
"Well Clay it looks like you have competition," she said, purely for the reaction she knew she'd get.
Sure enough his cheeks flushed and he barely managed to stutter out,"Wha..I mean not that you aren't very attractive but in that way I'm just not-"
"Relax Clay, I was only teasing," the faerie replied with a half smile. She did notice his protective nature though as he had swung his arm gently around her shoulder in what appeared to be a casual manner as soon as the boys had come by. Tessa appreciated this and a full smile broke out on her pretty face.
"I'm sorry Gambit what were you saying?" Clay asked as the flush in his cheeks began to die down.
"Actually I kind of had a question. I'm sure it's nothing but I just wanted to make sure everything is okay around here. Maybe I'm just being silly but faerie intuition tells me something is wrong. Don't worry about it getting out either if there is and it's suposed to be a secret. We won't tell anyone," Tessa said quickly.
Re: Study?...I think not!
*Gambit gave innocent smile, to cover up his suprise over her question*
Gambit:"Ya know, dat intuition o'yours is gonna get you in trouble one day chere."
*He says with a frendly chuckle*
Gambit:"Na'ting to worry 'bout, Xavier an some others went off t'get some students dat went missin."
*He gave a slight shrug*
Gambit:"Wasn't no big deal, all fixed now Remy's been told."
*Obviously it was a little lie, yet he wasn't permitted to tell the students incase some went off on their own to act as hero's. He placed his hand on Tessa's shoulder*
Gambit:"Day all be back soon, dun worry, Storm's keepin her eye on dere happenins as we speak."
*He tried to give a reassuring smile as he removes his gloved hand*
Gambit:"Now chere, if you both excuse me, Gambit promised his kids some family time."
*With a wave he moves past them and heads further down towards the teacher's dorm, pausing only once to call back*
Gambit:"Hey, better not stray too far from de school, an dun talk t'strangers!"
*He grinned and gave another wave before disappearing around the corner*
Re: Study?...I think not!
Tessa's face was drawn in worry as she turned to Clay. "I knew something was wrong, I just knew it but I didn't guess that anyone would be missing." She bit her lip and looked extremely upset.
"It's okay Tink, Gambit said there wasn't a problem, that it's all been fixed up. I'm sure there isn't a problem anymore, if it was that serious we would have been told," Clay said, pulling her against him in a gesture of comfort and friendliness.
"Or maybe there would have been a cover up," Tessa said. Now she was getting all worked up and Clay couldn't bare to see her like this.
"You know maybe you are right though and we should just sit down and relax. Actually I think maybe I should study for that test alone. You have to admit we don't do much when together studywise," Tessa said, putting on a brave face.
She began to walk down the hall, her back to him but he knew her inside out and had an idea of what she was up to.
"Tess do you think I'm a fool? I know very well what you're about to do," Clay's voice said from behind her.
Tessa whirled around, her violet eyes blazing. "Clay there could be friends of ours out there hurt somehow. We can't just leave them!" she cried passionately.
"We won't. Look I promise you we won't leave them. If we haven't heard anything in two hours we'll go after them alright, please don't do anything until then," Clay said resaonably. She wasn't in a state to listen to reason though and he only hoped she would come to her senses.
Tessa calmed down slightly and took a few deep breaths before giving in. "We'll do it your way," she said finally, giving in.
Clay sighed in relief and lead her outdoors. After all Faeries were close to nature. Perhaps being outside would help her to sort things out.
