TUTORIAL: How to dirty armor for Sandtroopers! **PIX**
Hey folks. I've had a BUNCH of people asking me how I did the weathering for my Sandtrooper, so I thought I'd just put up a quick tutorial!
I used Woodland Scenics Earthtone Coloring kit. It has 8 bottles of liquid pigments that are all earthtones! It goes on as a liquid and within minutes it dries to a dust that sticks to the plastic and can be wiped off without hassle and I found that it won't damage the ABS either! I did a few test pieces a year ago and recently got them out and wiped them with a damp cloth and it came RIGHT off without any problem!
First pick a piece of armor and make sure it's clean.
I start with Burnt Umber cause it has a great dirt brown look. Just dab with the tip of the sponge all over the place.
Then start patting the pigment with the side of the sponge to spread it out and blend it.
I put a lot of pigment in recessed areas where dirt and grim would normally build up
Once the piece is covered and all blended, I add another color so it will stand out. I used Raw Umber, it's a mix between dark gray and green.
I also add Yellow Ocher for a sand look.
And using Black, you can add some Carbon Scoring!
So there ya go! In just a few minutes you can make a piece of armor dirty. It's that easy!
Once everything is dry, it turns to a dust. With a paper towel, cloth or your fingers wipe off what you don't want! I make sure to always add more than what's needed and then wipe it off. It's always easy to add more anytime! I'm planning to leave it as is and not seal it, that way it will rub off like real dirt and I can always add more later!!!

You can go here for the tutorial + a link on where to purchase the Liquid Pigment. I bought mine from Micro Mark Online. www.thedentedhelmet.com/sand/dirty_tutorial.htm
You can seal it with a clear coat, but I want people that come up to me and touch my armor be able to rub it off, that's just more realistic! Plus, you can always change how it looks!
Here's a pic of the armor, I haven't done the boots yet, so please ignore those
