Team Work (reposted)
The danger room had been a revelation and discovering Hood’s possibilities a joy. Not only did he do all Michael had hoped, there was a grace and strength about the astral being that exceeded even Michael’s wildest expectations.*I may have a long way to go before I’m as good as the others* the boy thought to himself realistically, *but now I know I’ll get there. I can really be a useful part of this team.*

As always the time spent as Hood had left him elated as he exalted in the feeling of well being that his strange power afforded him. He knew that the training session was tiring, that much was obvious from the faces of his team mates but he himself felt only the thrill of the challenge. The fatigue would come later when he reintegrated his body.*The prince is about to become a frog again* he told himself with a sigh.*How I wish it didn’t have to happen.*

He delayed the inevitable for as long as possible, knowing full well that it was foolish to do so but unable to stop himself. Sometimes logic was overcome by desire and he wanted more than anything to avoid the moment when he was forced to deal with the reality of his physical existence. Still finally, reluctantly, he was obliged to return to reality as the training session came to an end and his companions went their separate ways, getting ready for the field trip later that morning.

The fact that they were to leave so soon had come as a shock to the young mutant. He had been told only that he was to attend a team meeting The ensuing time in the danger room had been unforeseen but feasible. Functioning as Hood had not been a problem and Michael had been glad that his team mate’s first impression of him had been largely positive. ‘I only wish I was so sure that the rest of the morning will go as well’ he said to himself apprehensively.

In all honesty he wasn’t even sure the doctor would let him go on this outing. Dr McCoy had insisted on closely supervising Michael as he released his astral projection, monitoring all vital signs with the help of the strange alien machines in the med lab. *I bet he won’t be pleased if I waltz in and tell him I’m going for a walk.*

Michael groaned inwardly at the very thought. He hadn’t even tried getting out of bed yet and here he was blithely agreeing to accompany the others on some sort of school outing. That was part of the reason he was dragging his heels in the danger room. He wasn’t stupid. He knew that there was a good chance he’d never make it as far as the rendezvous point. If he had pushed Hood so hard it wasn’t solely for the fun of it or for the sake of showing off. It was to show the others the positive side of his powers so that they would maybe be more ready to accept the problems that came with them.

*I’m not the only one with problems* he thought glancing across at Ben. During the session Darklight had handled himself well, showing a degree of training that Michael could only look on with admiration. It was obvious however that he was hindered by his basic inability to see Scott, yet he had managed to compensate for the problem by basing his actions on the interaction between the ‘invisible’ fairy and those team mates who were able to perceive his presence. Still it was a far from ideal situation and Michael could see that both Scott and Ben were disturbed by it.

It seemed strange to Michael that Ben should be the one who had difficulty dealing with the existence of fairies. He seemed such an open minded person and it was clear that it bothered him to ‘shun’ a fellow student in this way. *Too much science maybe that’s the problem* Michael thought with a smile, remembering Bens explanation of his mutant abilities.’May God us keep from single vision and Newton’s sleep’. Maybe that’s what Blake was thinking about when he wrote that. Anyway I’m sure there’s a way round it. All we have to do now is find it!*

Re: Team Work (reposted)
Well all Ben could say was that Green Strike Forces first training session had been very different from what he had expected. It had been rather… he searched for the word… disorganised, yes that was it. It was probably due to the fact that none of them had really met before today and that it appeared that a lot of them had not had much if any opportunity to train in the danger room before. He just felt that they were in slightly over their heads.

The main reason for this thought is that X-treme and X-change had been taken on a rescue mission a couple of days before and well, they had not been spared the thick of things. If they hadn’t had each others back it could have turned really nasty. And now it seemed that GSF was being sent on some kind of training session and he only hoped that they would go easy on his new team.

His mood was also not improved by the fact that he was one of the biggest liabilities the team had at the moment. How was he supposed to cover everyone if he was incapable of seeing one of his team mates? A wave of frustration ran through him and he had to stop himself from throwing the sweaty shirt, he had just taken off the length of the room.

Things just did not seem to be working out the way he wanted them to and he was starting to feel the strain of all this training and running around. Having not been the healthiest of children he was still prone to bouts of excessive tiredness which took him a couple of days to recover from. He knew that when all of this activity actually stopped he was going to be a wreck for a while.

He took a deep breath and decided that worrying about what was still to come would only tire him more so with a sigh he pulled on a clean shirt and looked around the changing room. Michael appeared to have finished getting changed and well if Scott was still here there was not hope of Ben seeing him.

During the training Ben had tried to locate the faery by relying on what the others were doing. It was not the best of solutions but for the moment it was better than nothing. Well maybe he was just biased. Turning he decided to ask Michael what he had thought of this mornings events so far.

“So how do you like being a trainee X-men? It’s fun most of the time and tiring at others.”

He flashed the other mutant a grin, hearing someone else opinion an things may help lighten his mood…he hoped

Re: Team Work (reposted)
Michael’s grin was equally warm.*If I had known things were going to be this hard I think I’d have stayed down in sick bay* he said. Strangely enough it didn’t seem so hard to discuss things frankly with Ben After all he had already seen Michael ‘warts and all’ in the med lab. There was little point in pretending that thing were better than they actually were. “To be honest I wasn’t expecting all this. Not this soon I mean. Otherwise I might not have said I was ready for it.” he admitted “Riley only asked me if I was up for a team meeting. He didn’t mention training or this field trip or whatever it is that’s coming up”

Given the more or less embarrassing nature of his interview with Riley, Michael wasn’t sure if the whole thing was down to his misunderstanding of the situation or if it was in fact some kind of test. *I’m sure he only talked about a meeting* he thought, casting his mind back to their conversation. *Maybe he just took it for granted that Hood would be able to handle the danger room. And after all he was right about that as it turns out. I just wish I felt as sure that I’ll make it through the rest of the day. Well I guess I’m about to find out. Providing Dr McCoy says it’s Ok that is.*

Waiting for Ben to finish getting ready he continued “But at least Riley did mention fairies when he briefed me. In fact that’s where the problem arose” he confessed a little shamefacedly “I thought he was kidding me when he said there were a couple of them on the team. You know, one of those stupid pranks you play on unsuspecting new students? Should have realised straight off he didn’t have that kind of sense of humour. My reaction didn’t go down well as you might imagine” he said with a wry smile. “Still at least I was prepared for Scott and Tess. Unlike you I gather.”

He looked apologetically over at the other boy. “Sorry about that” he added sympathetically. “I thought you must have known about them, what with you having been at the school for a while and all. If I’d realised you were going in blind I’d have said something to you when we ran into each other before the meeting.”

Re: Team Work (reposted)
"If I had known things were going to be this hard I think I’d have stayed down in sick bay"

Ben smiled, he knew the feeling. He had been glad for the basic training Sean had provided him with during their free time as his first mission had been rather intense. He was happy that Michael was going to have a decent amount of training before being confronted with a mission. He wished he had been given that opportunity as he felt that it was the others expertise that had secured the success of the rescue.

“To be honest I wasn’t expecting all this. Not this soon I mean. Otherwise I might not have said I was ready for it. Riley only asked me if I was up for a team meeting. He didn’t mention training or this field trip or whatever it is that’s coming up”

Ah so Michael had met Riley, Ben couldn’t help but wonder what the other boy thought of him. Riley was definitely not Ben’s favourite person there was a fundamental personality clash between the two of them. He could not help but wonder how the older man had dealt with Michael probably with his normal “lets just charge in and get it over with” method.

“No Riley usually doesn’t hang around much unless it’s something really important; he has more “important” issues to deal with.”

He couldn’t quite keep the sarcasm out of his voice although he did try.

“But at least Riley did mention fairies when he briefed me. In fact that’s where the problem arose I thought he was kidding me when he said there were a couple of them on the team. You know, one of those stupid pranks you play on unsuspecting new students? Should have realised straight off he didn’t have that kind of sense of humour. My reaction didn’t go down well as you might imagine”

Ben was starting to like Michael more and more as they seemed to have a similar view on things. Riley with a sense of humour now that was something he would pay to see. Maybe they could implant one or something? And Michael’s statement clarified the nature of his first meeting with the older team leader, two words…not good. Oh well it was to much to hope that Riley would have made an effort and Ben was not surprised by what his fellow team mate was telling him.

“Still at least I was prepared for Scott and Tess. Unlike you I gather.”

Ben winced, Michael had touched on an exceedingly sore spot but at least it answered his question on whether or not Scott was still in the room. He did wonder why Connor did not warn him about the special nature of some of his team mates surely he would no it would be important. But then again in some ways he couldn’t blame Connor for anything seeing what he had been through during the last few weeks.

“Sorry about that I thought you must have known about them, what with you having been at the school for a while and all. If I’d realised you were going in blind I’d have said something to you when we ran into each other before the meeting.”

Michael really did possess a generous spirit and Ben was touched by the way the other mutant was handling the situation. He was not one to get very angry about these things but the frustration he felt at being a liability to his team AGAIN must have shown on his face. He tried for a nonchalant shrug before he answered Michael but he probably just managed to make himself look stupid. That at least he was good at.

“Don’t worry about it, you’re new here and frankly I’ve been here three months and still don’t know how everything works. You weren’t to know that I didn’t know if that makes sense. Besides I would normally have been informed of things like this it’s just been a hectic period.”

What the hell was he on about, even if people had told him would he have believed them? Did he believe them now? He must do… why would he feel so annoyed otherwise. But if he believed that there really was a Scott how come he didn’t see him?

“I think I’m just really confused with the demons and vampires and such like I’m just having issues with there being faeries as well. It’s not that I don’t believe that Scott exists I know he’s real I just don’t think I’m grasping what faeries really are.”

Re: Team Work (reposted)
“Ah you see that’s where I’m lucky” Michael said with a grin. “In Scotland we grow up with the idea of fairies.” His accent grew more pronounced as he spoke of his homeland as if the mere mention of it drew him back to his origins. “The belief just kind of seeps in without us really noticing I think.” In fact he continued “if you asked someone if they believed in them they’d probably deny it just like they wouldn’t admit to believing in the Loch Ness monster. Doesn’t change the fact that every time they go to the loch they still look for it.”

He sat down on the bench beside Ben as he spoke, the longbow at his back somehow adapting its form to his movements; It was something he had noticed in the Danger room, how it never hindered him in his actions yet was always there ready to be used whenever he needed it. Michael had always known intellectually that it was part of him but now he realised the full implications of that fact. *It does whatever I want it to* he thought with delight as he rolled and tumbled through the training session. *Just another part of the miracle!*

The astral being that was Hood tucked its feet under the bench in a way the corporeal Michael never could and leaned back, closing its eyes as Michael searched for the words that might explain the wonder of the sidhe to his new friend.

“You see Ben there are fairy tales and then there are folk tales and the two are very different. Fairy tales are stories that have been made up to entertain but folk tales well those are the stories that have been handed down from generation to generation. They’re more like history, real things that happened to real people; And ours are full of fairies and magic.”

Now his voice had taken on the lilting quality of the storytellers as he told Ben the tales of the fairy courts, the seal like silkies that swam off the shore of the islands, the beautiful and dangerous creatures that had roamed his homeland and sometimes mixed their blood with that of his ancestors.

“Sometimes” he said “they would take people back to their realm with them, poets, bards, beautiful children or simply those lucky or unfortunate enough to stumble into one of their ceremonies. I think from what Ive heard fairies are very like other people in that respect” he said with a smile “If you treat them with kindness then they will do the same but woe betide you if you get on their wrong side. Thats why if a farmers cow dried up or the hens stopped laying they would leave a bowl of milk and honey outside the door for the fey to say sorry just in case they had offended them.”

Now there was a hint of sadness in his voice as he went on. “Aye in those days the two worlds were close but now… I think the world of men has moved to fast. We’ve built over the sacred places and let the old tales fade. Only the songs really remain. Then we wonder why we don’t see fairies anymore” he said with a sigh. “We’ve pushed them to the back of our world and to the back of our minds. I honestly don’t know if Id have seen Scott if Riley hadn’t told me he would be there. But once he said the word fairy all this came flooding back and with it the desire, no the need to see him.”

He looked over at Ben the horror of what Michael had endured over the past few months suddenly showing in Hood’s eyes.

“Things have been pretty bad for me recently” he admitted “culminating in that auction in Harmony. But like you said one of the most difficult things to handle were the demons”. A vision of the hideous faces flashed across his mind bringing with it fear and an insidious sensation of violation. Deep within his soul the demon who had linked with him stirred lazily, wiping the emerging recognition of its presence from Michael’s consciousness. *Not yet boy* it whispered.*We still have many games to play before you will be ready*

Michael blinked, his train of thought momentarily broken though he didn’t know what by. *Fairies* he thought *I was explaining about the fairies!* Suddenly their existence seemed even more precious than before, a sensation he hurried to try and convey to Ben.

“When I realised that demons were real it was as if all the world had gone dark.” He grinned apologetically “I know that sounds a bit overdramatic but that’s how it felt at the time. Suddenly all those things you’d always been frightened of, the bogie man, the monster under the bed they all seemed possible and that was pretty damned terrifying.”

“That’s why Scott is so important, he continued He’s proof that there is something beautiful out there that brings back the balance to the world. We may have to live with demons and vampires but we also get fairies, and who knows maybe unicorns and dragons and mermaids, all the wonder as well as the horror.”

“So you see Ben you’ve already seen the hard and ugly side of things now you just have to let yourself accept the beauty that goes with it.”

Suddenly a grin that was pure mischief spread over his face breaking the seriousness of the mood “Free fairy with every demon Sounds like a good deal to me.”

Re: Team Work (reposted)
Ben sat quietly as Michael started to explain the origin of his belief. It seemed that Scotland was vastly different form the US the people there sounded more in touch with the idea of “supernatural”. Ben wondered whether or not things were different for mutants there for surely a folk that believed in fairies should not have so many issues with the idea of mutants. But that was a question for another time, right now Ben knew that he had to hold on to the other mutant’s words or he would never be able to see Scott.

As he listened to the fragments of folk tales Michael was telling him he found himself wondering if all that he said was true. Were fairies really the kind to make your cow run dry and stop your hens laying eggs? Well maybe not nowadays he figured fairy culture must have moved on from there to things like denting your car or setting your fire alarm off fifteen times in one night. These ideas brought a smile to his lips; it must be fun to be able to pester people in that way. He could think of a few disagreeable bullies from back home that would have deserved that kind of treatment.

As he dragged his thoughts back to the topic at hand he was struck by the idea of the two worlds drifting apart. It was true humans had come to rely on science and most of the time science left no room for belief. It you couldn’t prove it then it didn’t exist. And well Ben was in the end a creature of science, it was his first love and the realisation that it wasn’t always the whole truth stung him a bit. Had his incessant need for proof caused him to pass by the world that he had only ever read about?

The answer to that was probably and well his first meeting with the other inhabitants of this planet, demons, had not been pleasant. But it had been nothing compared to what Michael had been through, he had not asked the other boy what had happened in Harmony, he did not feel it was appropriate. If Michael wanted to talk he would be here but he was not going to pry.

The astral projecting mutant was obviously trying really hard to find a way to get him to believe. He had resorted to using comparisons and humour so as to get Ben’s mind to bridge what had seemed a unfathomable chasm. Ben smiled at him when he finished, Michael would be a priceless asset to their team; Ben could see him as the link that would hold it all together.

He lent back a bit to absorb what had just been said and attempt to make sense of it. It seemed to him that after some thought logic could be applied to this situation as well. He remembered from his history class the description of the shock normal humans had felt when mutants had appeared. Apparently before that the idea of a mutant was something that had only ever been fund in a book. Just like fairies and demons and well if mutants were real then it was quite probable that fairies were real as well.

He sighed; he had taken the long way to belief but had got there in the end. He was not sure Michael would be happy with his reasoning so he decided not to share it with him. Instead he just got to his feet and looked down at his new friend.

“We better get moving or we are going to be late.”

He hoped that the smile on his face would tell the other mutant that he had succeeded in his task and that he didn’t need to worry anymore.

Re: Team Work (reposted)
The words sounded fantastic even to him though the conviction behind them was sincere Still Ben seemed to be listening, the look on his face puzzled but intent. * It can’t be easy* Michael thought to himself* getting a lecture on fairies from a guy who doesn’t even exist. Or then again maybe that helps*

In any case as he spoke he saw some of the worry leave Bens eyes to be replaced by thoughtfulness and then acceptance if not understanding. In the end he smiled leaning back against the changing room walls as he obviously tried to integrate this new world he had just been told existed into his hitherto more ‘rational’ view of the universe. Michael gave him some space, sitting in companionable silence till the older boy sighed and finally spoke “We better get moving or we are going to be late.”] The change of subject surprised Michael a little then he saw the grin on Bens face and realised that everything was going to be all right.

Well all right as far as Ben and fairies were concerned that was. “Its not really that late is it?” Micheal asked worriedly. “I still have to go down to med bay and pick up my body. Always provided I can talk Dr McCoy into letting me come on this trip that is.” It was far from certain that the good doctor would agree. When Michael had left med lab that morning in the guise of Hood it had been understood that he was going to a team meeting nothing else. The danger room session had been unexpected but since it was Hood not Michael who was required in that situation he hadn’t bothered asking Hanks advice on whether or not he should attend or not.

He has wanted to participate in this first team activity. It was important on all kinds of levels not least in re-establishing his sense of self worth, the knowledge that he still had something to offer despite all that had been done to him. It was clear that McCoy had realised this, standing careful watch as Michael had left his injured body to materialise as Hood. No doubt the sophisticated medical instruments were still measuring his depressed vital signs making sure that he wasn’t pushing himself to far too fast.

*And maybe that’s what I will be doing if I go on this outing *Michael had to admit. *Sure I can operate fine as Hood but back in the real world things are very different.* If he was completely honest with himself the idea of getting out of bed and going anywhere filled him with dismay but it was what he would have to do if he wanted to stay with his team mates. *It’s all gone so well up till now* he thought. *Hoods shown what he can do and everyone seems nice enough There may never be a better time to let them see the real me. I just hope I’m up to it.*

He smiled apologetically at Ben realising he had drifted away into his own thoughts. “Sorry Just trying to work out the best way to play this. I’m not sure Dr McCoy will think I’m ready for an outing. Heck I’m not really sure that I am but Id like to give it a try at least. I mean its just a trip How hard can that be?”

Suddenly the glimmer of an idea struck him and he turned once more towards his friend. “You would’t like to come up to the med lab with me would you?” he asked “Maybe if he saw you were going to be there as well that might make him decide it would be Ok for me to go? I don’t want to keep you back but we do still have time to give it a go don’t we?”

Re: Team Work (reposted)
"Its not really that late is it?”

The anxiety in Michael’s voice caught Ben by surprise, when he had said they we’re going to be late he had been attempting to change the subject. He had not meant to worry the other mutant.

“I still have to go down to med bay and pick up my body. Always provided I can talk Dr McCoy into letting me come on this trip that is.”

The thought of having to go and pick up someone’s body was an interesting one. He had never thought he would hear those words uttered, let alone by a sane person. But here he was faced with the fact that Michael could in a funny way be in two places at once. He wondered what it felt like.

As for convincing the doctor that could be a challenge; Ben had no idea what exactly they were going to be doing on this “training mission” but if it was anything like the mission he had been sent on previously it was going to be hard going. He did not know if Michael would be allowed to go but then again the doctor would know what they were going to be put through and would go from there.

“Sorry Just trying to work out the best way to play this. I’m not sure Dr McCoy will think I’m ready for an outing. Heck I’m not really sure that I am but Id like to give it a try at least. I mean it’s just a trip How hard can that be?”

Michael’s apology reflected the fact that he felt it was his fault that they had been walking in silence. As Michael debated how he was going to convince the doctor of letting him on the mission Ben opened the changing room door and held it while Hood made his way through.

He deliberately did not want to answer Hood’s question about how hard the trip could be. He felt that if he told the other boy that his first mission had be the one where they had rescued him it might put him off. It was probably better to let him decide for himself if he felt up to being an apprentice X-man.

“You would’t like to come up to the med lab with me would you? Maybe if he saw you were going to be there as well that might make him decide it would be Ok for me to go. I don’t want to keep you back but we do still have time to give it a shot don’t we?”

Michael’s eagerness made Ben smile; yes it would not be fair to deflate his feelings by telling him things that might not be true. For all he knew this training could be something basic. As for his presence influencing the doctor’s decision the likelihood of that happening was minimal. But they still had some time before they were due to rendez vous so he saw no harm in accompanying Michael.

“Sure it should be no problem, we’ve still got around three quarters of an hour before we’re due to meet the others.”

He set of down the corridor in the direction of the med bay. And then a thought hit him maybe Michael would know Talia he had after all spent all his time in the med bay since he arrived.

“Eu.. Michael? You would happen to know Talia would you? She’s one of the doctors assistants.”

Re: Team Work (reposted)
“Talia ? Talia the nurse?" That was how he thought of her, it was how she had introduced herself when….. Michael’s thoughts raced back to the moment he had opened his eyes terrorised and hurting in med lab. It hadn’t been an easy awakening, the machines that surrounded him alien and confining making him believe that his ordeal wasn’t over but rather had moved to a new level of horror.

But Talia had been there and despite the first shock of her appearance she had calmed and comforted him making him feel safe after long months of continual hardship. And he had been able to relax and sleep, taking the first steps to recovery under her watchful eye.

“ I don’t exactly know her” he said “but yeah we met in med lab,” He smiled a little shamefacedly.” if you can call that meeting. She was there when I came round after the operation. She stopped me freaking out.” He glanced over at his friend “Those machines can be pretty scary if you’re not expecting them” he offered by way of explanation. Especially if you’ve just spent months strapped down while people shot you full of all kinds of disease. Especially if a demon just said he liked the taste of your pain. The thoughts were there but remained unvoiced. Michael didn’t doubt that he would tell Ben about these things sooner or later but not now. He didn’t want to talk about the past, he wanted to get ready for the future.

And Ben? He wanted to talk some more about Talia, that much was clear from the half expectant look on his face.* I wonder why hes so interested* Michael thought curiously. Then the answer struck him, the truth so obvious and normal that for one startling moment it seemed out of place in this most remarkable of schools .*He fancies her* the Scot thought to himself with delight *How cool is that Now does she feel the same way I wonder*

“ She seems nice” he said nonchalantly watching Ben’s face as he complemented the girl who had obviously caught his eye. “And of course she’s really pretty in an exotic way And when she gave be that sponge bath her hands were so soft………”The laughter burst from him as he saw the older boys horrified expression.” I’m only joking” he said eventually “She didn’t really do that”. He frowned a little then, doubt rising in his mind “ Or at least if she did I don’t remember it.”

*That’s what I get for teasing him* Michael thought with a groan. Someone had to have cleaned him up after the stabbing and the more likely candidates were Talia or..Paige. Surely it wasn’t Paige! She was so shy She could hardly look him in the eye nevermind………… But then she was a nurse.” Oh damn” he said with a sigh. “That’s one of the things I hate about hospitals. You never know whose going to take your clothes off.”

One Ben, one Michael post missing

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

“She wasn’t there earlier when I projected out. Only Doctor McCoy seemed to be around. But maybe she’s arrived since then”.

Ben felt himself frown involuntarily; he felt that Talia seemed to have the gift of avoiding him. He couldn’t help but wonder if she did it on purpose… because of his thoughts that night, not that they had been indecent or anything just maybe a bit more forward than what she was used to. She seemed to be such a shy and reserved person. He nearly never saw anyone talking to her and he wished that he could change that.

“Cheer up. If you hang around me enough you’re bound to see her. I’ll be spending half my life in med lab.”

Ben couldn’t fathom what he meant, surely if he was well enough to go on the training session today then he wouldn’t need to go to med lab more than a couple of times for check ups. Ben was not left puzzled for long as Michael then went on to explain that he had to have physiotherapy nearly daily. Having only ever seen Michael’s real body once Ben did not understand exactly why that was so, but he figured that seeing the shape he’d been in when they found him something was bound to be a little off.
He did not know how far from the truth he was, “little” definitely did not cover it.

The news that he would have more opportunities to visit med lab did not cheer Ben up at all. He’d much rather his friend did not have reason to go there every day. But in the end there was nothing he could do about it except offer his support and company.

They walked at a quick pace through the maze that was the institute, all passageways and corridors. The mad bay had been one of the first places he had got to see for more than a minute on his first day. He had to admit that as first days went that one was definitely one to make you reconsider your choice of schools. At that point in time in his life being shot at was a rather new and shocking experience. He had never told his parents about it but then again since he’d started here there were a lot of things he no longer told his parents. He was bitterly disappointed that he could not even show them a picture of Taylor, having to pretend he was camera shy, because they would just never understand.
As far as they new their son was getting the best kind of treatment and his condition was vastly improved, that was all that counted. Besides in the end he was happy here and he had to admit that the more his control on his powers improved the more his allergies diminished.

He saw Michael prepare himself a little for the confrontation that was bound to take place in the med bay. But they both knew that the doctor would have the last say. Whatever arguments they through at him if he had decided against it they would just have to resign themselves to it.

“Ok this is it, once more into the breach and all that!”

Ben did not really know what his friend meant by that exactly but he understood the feeling behind it. It was a kind of “Oh well here we go for better or for worst” thing.
