Thanks to all that helped
First off I’d like to thank everyone who participated in the Daniel trail clean up, thanks. At 7:40am Saturday morning some kids showed up at our camp site at Arrowhead asking for someone to go pull a Cherokee back onto the trail on the slab pile side of sawmill. Forever the sucker I scrambled alissa and kiersten into the jeep and we rushed there snatched him back onto the trail. And rushed back to the hard ball so we could make our 8:30am trail meeting. We had 23 people show up to clean the trails. Alissa, Kiersten and me, Terry and Vonda, Bill Nalbone, Pete Montes, Trevor and his dad Jim, Rob Neville, David Stroble Jeremy Guzman, Stacy Chase, Brian and Nick, Jason Swain, Joe and Mason, Pete, Rosie and Casondra, Rich and Buddy. Thanks all of you. We had 11 vehicles and worked a total of 69 man-hours. And picked up enough trash to fill the rear body of my truck. Great job. Then we went riding 10 jeeps I bronco, abunch of people. Daniel was a bit slick at the first little hill nothing serious then at the bottom we hit some congestion. No biggy walked up and watched the fun. The corner before the 180-degree turn has gotten real bad was slowing people down. Lots of wheel lifting and spinning going on. Finnally was our turn. Well it was the same for us. Lotta beating and banging but everyone was doing fine till Joe (white yj) came up and tried a real tight line up the bank next to the tree. Everything was looking good for a bit then the left rear went into a hole. The right front came up and up and over he went. But he had a brand new winch with a virgin wrap on the cable that we used to make a quick recovery no injuries and minor body damage to the jeep. Thanks to Trevor’s dad Jim for doing an excellent job running the winch. Joe winched up after he was recovered so we could give the rig a quick once over before he started it. Well we all got up and except for the 3 stockers no one needed the straps. Then it was to the top and out too rocky mountain loop where a bunch of people bailed. Terry & Vonda, Brian and Nick, Rob and David, A guy in a patriot addition jeep Pete Montes, Alissa, Kiersten and I went on to Kodak rock and out. After we got back to camp Brian Pete M. and I went back to Daniel and loaded up all the trash and carried it to the dumpster. It filled the body of my truck. Thanks Brian and Pete M. and again great Job guys and girls. Then today terry and vonda and us went and rode Dutch john to check out the rumor of an abandoned Cherokee chieftain at the bottom of the hill. It is true. After a couple of run ins with the rangers the guy signed his title tossed it on his seat and left. I guess up till yesterday it had nice wheels and tires. When we got there this morning it was up side down. With no wheels and tires. There was sprung over front and rear dana 44’s sitting there for the taking. Right side front diff perfect for a CJ or a project buggy. But we had no way to get them out. So I contented myself with a CV driveshaft and the front upper shock mounts. Some other nice stuff there was a T-18 tranny. Just before we got ready to climb the hill a bunch of guys showed up with trucks and tools. I bet they got some axles. I hope so to bad for good parts to go to waste. The hill was dry and we cruised right on up no problems. Then it was out and back to camp. It was a great weekend.
