Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!))
Aiden Constantine quickly made his way back in from the Outer Grounds as the bells sounded loudly throughout the grounds. The tall mutant slipped between the large doors he had been waiting against quickly, and began his smooth gliding walk down the hallways that would lead him to his next class.
The past few days had been eventful indeed. It was Aiden's fifth day on the property, third day of classes. The classes themselves had flown by with amazing speed, and Constantine kept finding himself thinking about the most interesting event that had occurred since his arrival, the meeting of his new friend Eliza. The magenta skinned mutant had found Aiden in the Outer Grounds the morning of his first day of classes, playing his guitar and working out his nerves. She was really the first individual that showed much care to him, and offered to show him about, eventually leading him to the kitchen where they had goofed off, made pancakes, and chatted, having a glorious time in the process. Since his run from the police back in the civilian world, that morning had been the best he'd had in the last four months.
Since their parting, he really hadn't seen Eliza again, getting caught up in the wealth of classes he was being hit with. The weekend was fast approaching though, and he knew he'd have some time to seek her out. Aiden wondered to himself how she was coping with her brother Porter. The twin seemed to have taken a very downward curve on his mutancy, taking a fierce offence to everyone that threw him and his purple-skinned nature a second glance, even if it was only an interested one. He was one of the mutants that just wished they could be normal.
"At least you don't kill everything you touch, Porter. Literally."
Aiden was starting to wonder if Porter's perspective was completely skewed though. From the school's populace, he quickly found that some of the place was just like a normal high school. There was the "in" crowd, and the people left standing on the sidelines. His second day, a girl dressed in dark clothing like his own had struck up a conversation with him, and then leaned in, trying to wrap her arm around his own. His aura refused to be suppressed, and the girl quickly moved away from her, feeling her life's energy leeched by the shadow that followed Thantos around. She had quickly called him a "freak", and charged off into the hallway, chattering quickly to her friends clustered in a big group. The students had offered him judgmental glances before going off down another of the numerous hallways. Not at the best of his game at all.
After that, Aiden had kept his social interactions at a minimum. His classes ran smoothly. In civilian schools, he'd always been a good student, quick on picking things up, even if he was unfamiliar with them. He'd always prided himself on having an open mind. It was required for his music, after all. Thantos usually kept relatively quiet in the classes, as far as speaking to students was concerned. Right out of civvie high school, and Aiden realized he was already acting like a Freshman. It really wasn't that the interaction with a different crowd, mutants, scared him, it was simply that he was terribly petrified that he was going to truly hurt someone.
Thantos kept striding down the hall, his heavy boots echoing lightly off of the walls as the students within the many classrooms lining the hall gathered up their things and headed out the doors. "Soon," Aiden thought, "Soon I'll get to see Professor Grey. Heard around that she's a renowned psychic. Maybe she can help me do something about this damn beast inside..."
Constantine looked down to his class schedule, and his eyebrows raised. The youth stopped dead in his tracks. He read it a few times, but it was still there, right in front of him. General Science, 11:28am. Jean Grey.
"Well, what do you know?"
The young mutant found his way to the classroom easily, taking a deep breath before came to the door, and willing his aura to be contained within the boundaries of his flesh forcefully. Usually the thing kept it's size so that it was slightly larger than he, hovering around him like a perpetual gloom cloak. It was dangerous, yet comfortable. He had to sleep sometime and Aiden realized that, at this point in his life, he could not control it much more than this. Hopefully, hopefully, this school could help him control his mutant nature.
Thus, with social issues, worry, self-doubt, and the stress of controlling his aura on his mind, he stepped up to the General Science classroom. Aiden Constantine came up to the door slowly, realizing he was here a bit early, peeking inside the small window. Quickly he wondered what his professor would be like... and if someday she could help him...
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
The school always had its ups and downs, from the moment Frost stepped into the school she knew it’d be an interesting ride from the get go. Having had her 19th birthday at the school, Frost could readily say that aside from the faculty, she really hadn’t gotten a great deal of friendships over her time here… Riley and his friends turned up, though Riley had been less then sociable, either had Connor, everyone was grouchier or moodier then her, and that was bloody impressive! The icy elemental was enjoying the day thus far, the night had been cold, the rain left a moisture in the air that felt refreshing for the mutant, her blonde fringe tucked side with a neatly manicured finger as her eyes gazed out the windows she passed. It was still rather gloomy… and even though Frost enjoyed the looks of a summer day, she physically couldn’t enjoy it. That was learned the heard way, and as obvious a weakness it would seem to her, most people were so dense they never let it click… how sensitive the cold girl was to heat.
Morning glasses weren’t really… grand… but the recess had been what really perked Frost’s day, the teen actually found herself enjoying the day out, especially over by the lake. People tended to not run outside when it was ‘wet and gloomy’ leaving Frost an entire lake to her self. It was wonderful. The girl had frozen part of it off on the far side, well out of view from anyone nearer the school, granted it wasn’t as amusing as dropping the temperature of a pool when people were in there swimming… but skating about in her shoes had been amusing still. She didn’t usually get to muck about, sometimes it was nice to let her hair down, no matter how short her blonde strands actually were.
The thing is, Frost knew the happier she felt, the harder she was to fall and the sooner it’d be. The thought definitely readied her for what was to come, though even she couldn’t have guessed what would unfold. Books were hugged close to Frost’s chest, which with the low v-cut that seemed to show the defines of her cleavage it had caught a decent amount of attention over the duration of the day. Again, white, it seemed her colour, though it didn’t mean she couldn’t be found in a pair of slacks or anything, it just seemed Ms Drake had a fascination with flaunting her attractive body to the best of her abilities, and yet didn’t seem to strut it around like many girls tended to do when dressed in that fashion. The fashion student (as in, she majored in fashion design as a class) made her way closer to Jean’s class room, noting that four students hovered outside the room and thus signaled that their teacher wasn’t in.
Three boys, two girls (including Frost), the ice powered teen stuck out since all were fairly well covered and she was barely dressed, her silken pale thighs seen as she moved with her short loose white skirt. Wearing knee high white boots, matching her long white elbow length gloves, one of a few pairs Frost owned, however these ones only reached her wrist, trailing up the back of her hand and hooked to a silver ring on her middle fingers. The brown haired girl that stood with the others seemed to thrown a scowl at Frost as she approached, not that the young Drake paid her any attention. Girls didn’t like being upstaged, no one did, and people always felt Anna Drake was doing just that, so caught up in their own world and their own image that they didn’t realize Anna hardly cared who looked at her or what their opinions of her were, she loved making clothes, she loved the clothes she made. She wore them, and she wore them all with pride. Regardless of how people treated her, or spoke about her.
She didn’t speak to any of them, though if she had it would have thrown the lot off, instead Anna moved directly to the window of the hall, peering out into the grounds and watching the soft fog of mist which coated the grounds. Clear crystal eyes peered out, ignoring the shuffling movements of the students around her, some just walking by, others chatting as they waited… as long as none of them intruded on her moment of solace then they were free to continue on with their day.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
Seemed the teacher wasn’t present. Aiden’s eyes had fallen upon a bare room, lights dimmed, with no psychic to tell him weather he was doomed to a life of forcing his aura down again and again, or if there was some hope of greater control. Considering that the door was locked, the mutant took a place with his back against a wall, idly trying to push the accursed strands of hair that always managed to fall over his left eye, regardless of how well he tied the rest of his mane back. This probably wasn’t that unusual. He was a few minutes early.
Constantine spent his time pondering, quietly. He had been here a few days already, and had not heard anything from the school’s supervisors about Vivian. Aiden thought back to the day they’d been separated by the police, and wondered if he’d ever see his beloved sibling again. If anyone could do something about this, it would be Xavier’s Institute, he reminded himself, and that now was certainly not the time to be working himself up, possibly losing control in the process.
Thus, Aiden released a breath and came to the realization that a small crowd had built up outside the door. Professor Grey was probably late for some reason. Coppery orbs looked over the newcomers and noted they were already engaged in conversation. They likely knew each other. Aiden had come in mid-year, and was unlucky enough to have missed the bonding that the new students shared, pulling together out of reflex against something so new to them all. Then again, Aiden was quite glad he was able to have come when he did. It certainly beat being out in the civilian world while a warrant was out for his arrest. He had been quickly labeled a “Mutant Terrorist” by the media, and had showed up in world news once or twice. It was likely that a few here in the Institute could have seen those reports. Maybe that was why most of them shied away from him.
As he pondered, he took note of the short-haired blonde girl that approached, her seeming to notice the crowd, indicating a late professor. Having fled from the High School environment not four months ago, Aiden did not miss the warring glances between the two females. Crimson eyes narrowed lightly as he witnessed it, noting similar glances from the gang that the more conservatively dressed female had been standing with. It seemed that this newcomer was somewhat of a black sheep to them, socially, despite her attire. The mutant took a moment to look over the girl as she strode past the sneering trio to go to the window. Her white clothes set her off as different, alright, but he found a small smile at her defiance to society’s structure and how one was supposed to dress. He certainly broke the mold as well.
Aiden looked down at himself. Again, he was clad in black, loose pants with several pockets on the sides lead down to heavy boots on his feet, of the combat variety. He wore a plain black shirt that wasn’t so loose, clinging around his thin, but well defined chest. A bare bit of marble skin was visible from where the sleeves of his t-shirt ended to where the tops of his arm-warmers began. The black material sheathed the whole of his arms down to the middle of his fingers, an extra hole for the thumb, the whole piece of material there for more than effect, but to keep accidental physical contact reduced as much as possible.
Upon surveying his own attire and the reasoning behind it, Aiden stopped himself, and looked at the new girl again. She wore gloves as well that covered her arms, although hers were white to his black. Perhaps she wore them for the same reason he did. Perhaps that was the reason the other’s shunned her. Or perhaps she simply had a mean attitude. Regardless, Aiden Constantine had a very big problem with people being shut out into loneliness, and he decided that moment that he would at least try to make her feel a bit more comfortable.
Casting a quick glance at the sneering trio, who had gone back to whatever conversation they had begun earlier, Constantine quietly approached the blonde female, stopping about two feet from her. He’d guessed she was a touch-based power, and knew how he felt about his personal space, so he decided to give her the same courtesy. She faced away from him, looking out to the misty grounds outside.
”Hey,” Aiden began informally. She’d either approve of his presence or not, and Constantine was well prepared to be burned. If she didn’t want a friend at the moment, she could just say the word and he’d leave her be with grace. It almost made Aiden feel uncomfortable how much he sympathized with her situation, just from the bare bits he’d noticed already. ”Seems this place is just like any other school, mean, judgmental people all around. I’m Aiden… you alright?”
He was perfectly sure he’d sounded like a complete fool, but was prepared for the witty rebuttal if it was to come. Constantine found his gaze drifting over the girl’s shoulder to the window, still not having turned to face him yet, probably wondering what to say, or maybe surprised. The fog outside drifted lazily across the grass, save for a lone figure striding out in the haze. Strong shoulders held up a football jersey with the numbers 06, a big neck that led up to a smooth face with a black crop top haircut. Aiden found himself staring in disbelief. The figure turned slightly to look straight in the window, staring straight at Aiden, despite the good 30 yard distance, giving Thantos a smirk. The mutant continued to stare in shock, recognizing the figure.
David?! How…? I’m awake…
As he watched, the fog seemed to swallow up the image of his deceased brother, leaving the field bare again, a pair of crimson eyes continuing to stare at the grass upon which the specter had stood…
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
The day had started off like every other one before it. Upon the alarm going off, Matt first hadn't moved at all, his subconscious craftily interlacing the annoying sound into his dreams. As usual, there came the point, however, when the shrill ringing became too loud to bear, and with a grunt, a hand hitting into the general direction of the clock had eventually switched the thing off. Cursing and some annoyed yet somewhat helpless groaning had followed, accompanied by he twisting and turning a few times until the second alarm had gone off to remind Matt that there was actually a reason why he had been woken up.
Lessons. Meh. It wasn't like Contrast disliked school. There were actually some subjects he was quite interested in, like Biology or English; it was just the raising enough motivation to actually get to class that was the hard thing to accomplish. He was and had always been more the nocturnal kind, which didn't mean he was roaming graveyards and dreamt of owning a crypt but simply the fact that getting up before 10:30am was resembling torture and going to bed before midnight seemed somewhat unnatural. He'd never understand people who cheerfully got up at 6am and started their day with half an hour of jogging. Nutters, all of them!
The apple he had had for breakfast seemed to have long since lost any effect on his stomach by the time third period was about to begin. He needed food, he needed it NOW... but there wasn't enough time left to get it. Had Aurora's troubles not been as serious as they were, the light-elemental may have been well inclined to be a little annoyed at her standing between him and lunch. Time had been scarce and so he only knew the most important facts about the circumstances under which she and this Max had split up. Another girl had been involved as it seemed, yet despite her fury, Garnet hadn't told her friend who it had been and he had been too amicable to ask.
Max, well... the black-haired male knew he was in this class. Above average in both looks and attitude (the latter not the best of qualities to have) – and that was about all he knew of him. Chances were the infamous school bully in return didn't even know he existed. Whether that was a pity or for the better, Matt did not yet know, but unbeknownst to him, that would change soon enough in a way no one could ever have predicted.
The contrasting mutant came just in time to see Anna Drake manoeuvre past the small group of students by the classroom door and witness the looks the girl in particular gave her. Matt was painfully familiar with bullying, and even though he was fully aware that his team mate wasn't exactly of the victim type, he couldn't help but sympathise with her a little. Xavier's was much better to him than his old school back before his mutation had awoken, but just because he wasn't the target of any petty tyrants save for the odd comment everybody had to cope with every now and then didn't mean it was the same for everybody. He had yet to find out, however, how much the others' attitude was Frostbite's own fault...
Finding his own spot at the window front he leaned with his back against, it was quite obvious someone quite essential for lessons was missing. The teacher. Instead there was a new student as it seemed, his attire setting him apart enough for Matt to notice him immediately. A related soul it seemed, the entirely black clothing not a coincidence as his hairstyle was giving away; kind of mirroring his own dark jeans and black shirt as well as the slightly shorter hair he, however, had tied back into a ponytail. This guy had to be really new around the institute if he was daring to just walk up to Frostbite and talk to her. A worried eye was – inconspicuously as he hoped – kept on the two as he flicked through his folder to figure out whether there had been anything he should have revised for the upcoming general science lesson.
There comes a point in everyone's life when we have to take over responsibility. The question remains whether there is also a time when we can get rid of it again.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
Movement, just nearby, too close for comfort as far as Frost cared though her gaze remained squarely on the window as she bluntly ignore the arrival of the other in hopes that he’ll leave her alone. That, however, seemed too hopeful a wish…
”Hey,” Surely not… perhaps Anna was just being paranoid and the guy was talking to someone else she didn’t notice, if she turned to look around then most likely they’d be another person there just quietly standing next to him, right behind her and therefore out of Frost’s line of sight, even with her peripheral vision. ”Seems this place is just like any other school, mean, judgmental people all around. I’m Aiden… you alright?” Was *she* alright? The comment should have won some kind of reward because Frost managed to blink dumbly at her reflection in the window for a brief pause before staring at the other’s faint image, a slight furrow on her brow and glossed lips gently pursed together. Piercing eyes turned to stare at Aiden, almost ready to narrow in a glare though once again the young woman was caught off guard as she noted the expression on the newcomers features. If anyone needed to be asked for their wellbeing, this guy definitely qualified, he was hardly one to dish it out though.
"Perhaps you should ask yourself that question, Aiden." The ice elemental replied coolly, air of both hostility and actual honest observation both perfectly blended in a way only Frost and Madi seemed to have perfected so well. A soft whisper of curiosity trickled across the girls features, though her icy eyes turned to peer over towards other familiar faces, Matt… she hadn’t noticed him arrive, or had he always been there and she’d over looked it? Somehow Anna doubted that, even if she was capable of such things. Another face, just as familiar as Matt’s, walking down the hall further up, seeming to be accompanied by Riley who was slowly returning to his proper schedule of classes.
A yell from the complete opposite side of the hallway pulled her attention quickly, a group goofing around, another blonde part of the crowd and that blonde happened to be exactly everything people accused Frost of being… A fair enough excuse for Ms Drake to despise Lara as she trailed down the holds in her sleazy yet decent covering tight get up. Max’s voice was loud and agitated while arguing a point across to Mark, the black youth’s yellow eyes scowling over the collected class with indignation seen even from back there, though it was misplaced as the group were discussing Garnet and her silly rants and raves which ended the relationship. Lara was obviously going on about something the rest of the group found humiliating because most starting laughing and nudging each other for whatever reasons that, to onlookers, usually looked pretty random.
"Here we go.." Frost almost seemed to direct the comment to Aiden, the white fringed mutant looking between the oncoming of Riley and Max as if some climatic battle was about to unfold. Anyone who had classes with the two knew that Max enjoyed pushing Riley’s buttons and impressively enough Max happened to be one of the few who sunk low enough to hit Riley right where it hurt the most… Leaving the two on very rivalling ends of the social ladder. Further more, Max had done little to show sympathy towards the rather unexplained collapsing of the basketballer on national TV, the fact it was so public a thing (Riley’s heart attack on the court) it made Max play off it all the more. And regardless of the teachers scorn, Chadstone seemed to treat it like some big joke that needed the spotlight.
Angie, who was walking down the hall currently with Riley, found herself talking very lightly with the elder man, who was only a few months older then her, and he was keeping things very simple as far as topics went, like how she was settling in, what class she was enjoying, that like. Though Angie wasn’t familiar with the couples of the school she could tell by the over air he radiated so innocently that he had no interest in delving any deeper or more personal with Angie or any other girl he walked by. She had guy friends, she knows the way they tended to look at girls, or the things they say and Angie herself has caught the eye of a fair few sleazes to say she was pretty sure this guy was far from their kind as possible. Well good for him, there was something strangely alluring to have a guy friend that didn’t seem as if he was going to jump you at any moment… not that she could call this dude her friend just yet, but Angie was always hopeful when new faces came into the mix.
While Angie caught sight of her team mates, a welcoming wave was only given towards Matt, shy as it may have been there was still an eagerness to see him again, it was nice going to class with people she knew from her team…well.. exception of Madi and Frost perhaps… they just made her really uncomfortable. Riley himself seemed more interested in looking over the group as they approached, his eyes skimming the gathering class for Catherine’s pretty face, only to be let down by the fact she had not yet arrived… or perhaps she’d skip class again, as much as Riley knew her track record, he still always hoped and expected to see her, which made the lacking of her presence always a little tough to swallow.
"Hey Matt," While both angie and Riley wore jeans, Angie’s were darker, with faded cream spots dotted artistically down her left leg, and contrasting to his white shirt she had a black top, showing a little more cleavage then Angie genuinely like, but she seemed to have a nack at picking things that were rather styled in a manner that showed off the chest, most often she wear a jumper over it and today she did, however the black hooded jacket was unzipped. Lined with a fake brown fur, on top of the schools heating, she was torn between being too cool to not wear the jumper and too hot to keep it zipped up fully. "How’s thiiiiiings?" The brown haired mutant asked, for once Fear didn’t seem to be hovering around her just yet, mainly because – to be honest – she got too distracted with hum during class and ‘sent him off’ so not to lose focus.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
Nowhere near the weather Isaura knew and loved. It had taken just one look out the window for her mood the darken for the day as she groaned. It was the weather that made her homesick for more tropical temperatures and the smell of breakfast being prepared. But when the pink shades of her eyelids rose with the sun piercing in from part of the window uncovered by her shades, she was in a completely wrong continent. Shoulder on one of her thicker coats, brushed and plaited her hair, and she was out the door. Barely a week into her transfer, and it was still a mystery on why the weather couldn’t be any nicer. Was it always like this, or was some weather witch throwing a tantrum lately?
It was quick, her first days of classes. A little confusion with her schedule, the stress of figuring out what she needed to catch up in this year, comparing what she had already learned from her old school to what she needed to pick up here. Needless to say, a weekend was most appreciated as she adjusted to the whirlwind of things that had started as soon as she’d arrived here. For one thing, her old school definitely didn’t have some of the extracurricular they offered here.
Perhaps she should have just waited until the next term started instead of coming so late…no, things would have gotten worse. As Isa slowly packed up her book bag, her mind drifted to the feelings she had before she let her father make the needed calls. There, she made friends easily, but she always feared that they would sense something other than her slightly Americanized ways. Here, she had yet to meet many people, and though no longer she had to worry about being labeled as a mutant, it was just as it had been the last time she began a new school. A little curiosity, intimidation around those whose eyes revealed far more knowledge of this atmosphere as they moved easily around like they owned the place, the careful prodding to discover some of the ways around here. And so far, she’d decided it was for now, every person for themselves.
What she wouldn’t give to have the power to standardize curriculums all over the world. The schedule that had seemingly glued itself to her hand in the past couple of days read General Science as her next class, beginning in a few minutes. With her items of her last class dropped off and her new items packed, the book bag was over her shoulder and following her out the door as she began an easy jog. Then slowed to an easy walk with her eyes staring blankly through the paper. Isa didn’t see much point in hurrying. If others were racing by her to make it to the next class, then she might have something to worry about.
Isaura blamed both the weather and the usual tension that came with any class she considered difficult. Her jacket seemed out of place indoors, but she’d decided on her first day that they didn’t turn the heater high enough on days like this. At least it wasn’t cool enough for her to desperately trade in her dark blue jeans for long underwear and ski pants. It would have been a quick way to a grumpier attitude at being bundled up, and an uncomfortable day of sitting in class on so much insulation. The meager rays of sun meandering their way through the clouds and into the hall windows as she passed did little to cheer or energize her, only long for the sunnier spring weather to kick in. Now would be good. Anytime soon. No…it seemed as if the weather had made up its mind to keep to the last trails of winter for the four more days before the season was officially over.
People drifting into class, and her face automatically turned into a hopeful smile as she searched for a possible new acquaintance. Then fell while she took in the students already here. Damn, the first few that caught her eye, not only because of some striking appearances and reminders that ski-worthy ensembles weren’t quite the fashion trend around here, but because they were a bit older. Another classes she seemed to have where she felt more out of place than normal. And yet, this had been the class she’d been taking in Brazil, this was what she’d been assigned. Pushing her initial shock behind a nonchalant smile, she strode in to one of the seats by the window. Shy was one way to describe her. So was biding her time so that her introduction to others didn’t seem annoying and needy for attention. Until class began, she was all for being ignored as she delivered small nods and interested looks of acknowledgement to those who happened to look her way. Maybe it wasn’t too late to change classes?
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)Aiden was still awake, and David had somehow managed to make himself visible, at least to him.
The ramifications of that rolled through Constantine’s brain. Were his dreams of David threatening and goading him not just dreams? Had somehow his power over Death caused him to be able to see the angry specter of his dead brother? The notion frightened Aiden more than a little initially, probably showing clearly on his marble toned face. More quickly than even he would have expected however, a wave of calm rolled over Thantos. He quickly realized that David had quite the reason to hate him, and that no matter how accidental the death was, and how noble Aiden’s intentions, the red eyed mutant could not blame his dead brother for it. Whatever was happening with this aspect of his powers, he would simply have to cope as he’d always had. He would roll with whatever punches the world could throw at him, and he would either continue on, or die trying. It had always been Aiden’s creed, and in the split second that his thoughts digested all of this, he determined to stick with that code, and to not let it interrupt his day…
Aiden was then suddenly aware that someone was speaking to him.
"Perhaps you should ask yourself that question, Aiden."
What? Oh. Right. Blonde girl. His crimson eyes snapped back to attention distractedly meeting her own gaze. Aiden realized quickly that at the opposite of his gaze, the orbs that returned the stare were VERY blue, strikingly so. He barely realized that there was a hint of hostility in both her voice and eyes as she spoke the words, but then he noticed something soften in her features. She had probably been surprised, and now was either curious, or found him amusing, neither one of those a bad beginning to a conversation.
Within a moment however, he saw those bright orbs of her flit to the side, and out of reflex the young mutant turned his body to follow her gaze, taking a few steps backwards so that his back rested against the wall, standing next to the ice elemental. The halls were filling with students quickly, none of which he had met, and all of which seemed to know each other. From the looks exchanged and the chattering between the cliques, it seemed that several of the students held hostile feelings towards some others, but for now were containing them.
"Here we go.." The girl spoke with a bit of a ominous undertone. Aiden glanced over at her once more, and followed the trail of her eyes to two males. He wondered if something would break out, seeing the incredibly diverse crowd charged with emotions, and sincerely hoped otherwise. Constantine was always an empathizer, and if some conflict began, he knew that his judgment would force him to try to intervene. From the little he knew of the Xavier Institute, he knew that this was not the place for a petty fight to begin. This place was his shelter from the outside world, a place where mutants were supposed to be safe from oppression… not openly to throw it at each other.
Such thoughts made his mind fall back to the girl he was now standing next to. He briefly scanned the crowd, catching the green eyes of a guy, about Aiden’s age that dressed similarly, staring. He’d caught a look or two on his walk over here, and guessed he was making some sort of statement by his actions. This person had some sort of reputation to them, and by the little smirks he barely managed to catch on some of their faces and the hostility in her tone earlier, he supposed that she’d been less than kind to them, and expected the same thing to happen to him. Aiden was not swayed, however. He had seen far too many people that would become his friends close themselves off behind some wall to prevent being hurt. He’d seen it a hundred times back in civilian High School, and had repeatedly helped those people. Despite the way he dressed, most everyone loved Aiden at his old school before his world had been shattered by his powers. He was good at helping people emotionally, and he honestly couldn’t keep himself from trying, even at the risk of getting burned right now, in front of a mess of students he didn’t even know. Aiden realized that this could probably be a big moment for him, something that would define where he stood with all his peers at the Institute. He had all the options before him. He could take this opportunity and just walk away from the girl, seeming to be distracted with the interactions just across the hall. Aiden could just go now, and fall into the shadows again, remaining the unknown factor, and continue on in comfortable silence.
There was one problem. Aiden just cared too much. He took a deep breath.
”Are they always like that?” His tone was one of concern, coppery eyes watching them, a spectator, disconnected from the buzz of hormonal confusion, like she was. He risked a glance over, his cloth-covered arms folding across his thin, but sculpted chest. He gave the slightest of shakes of his head, the subject of school cliques clearly getting old quickly in his mind. Thantos knew he’d best change the subject, the slightest of smirks growing across his lips as he realized her words earlier had caused her to avoid the introductionary phase. This was a clever one. He’d best watch himself. His smirk grew just a hair more.
”Constantine, by the way. Aiden Constantine. I’m new here and… this mess…” he gestured to the crowd, wondering if the clashing personalities would explode soon, ”…is all new to me. If it were not too…” Aiden paused his sentence again for just a breath, shooting his red gaze over to the green-eyed boy who he’d caught staring at him again, ”…bold of me, might I ask your name?”
Aiden’s arm twitched slightly, preparing to extend his hand in greeting, but then he mentally shook his head, remembering. He pulled his aura in tight within the confines of his body, hoping that she hadn’t noticed the strange feel of him considering their foot-away proximity. His voice dropped into something a tad more soothing, but somehow not laced with sympathy, “I take it, by those wicked gloves of yours, that you’re not a person to shake hands on introductions either…”
Aiden hoped that she would not only catch the compliment to her custom clothing, which he thought to be rather interesting, but the addition of the word either at the end of his little speech, offering a bit of knowledge to her about himself, in hopes to make her more comfortable.

”Are they always like that?” That voice spoke again, and Frost turned her face to stare at Aiden, the persistent guy that seemed to relentlessly talk to her. Though, far from annoying or negative, Frost noted a tone of concern and the icy elementress raised a brow slightly. Them? Of course, and if not *them* then another group, or another, or yet another…
”Constantine, by the way. Aiden Constantine. I’m new here and… this mess…” Mess… interesting way to define the social structure of the school, it was just another aspect that was hard to miss out on, without clashing scenes it would seem unnatural. ”…is all new to me. If it were not too…” Frost sighed a little while letting her eyes stare off towards Riley, who was absorbed in his attempt to keep an eye open for Catherine’s arrival ”…bold of me, might I ask your name?” Her name… geeze he was obsessed with names, how many times has he stated his name to her? Perhaps a try hard desperate to make connections in the school? Or someone in love with his name, any excuse to say it more then necessary, it wasn’t unheard of, in fact, Max loved his name, he even had a shirt which had his name written across its front in thin italics and Frost had to roll her eyes on the few odd occasions she’s seen him wearing it.
Slender arms folded across Anna’s chest as she watched Aiden, almost shunning the flinch of Aiden’s hand in which he was readying to extend his arm, Anna hated it when people invaded her space and she let people know it without any hesitation.
“I take it, by those wicked gloves of yours, that you’re not a person to shake hands on introductions either…” Why would he just assume that? Her eyes almost narrowed in defence, though Ms Drake did take in the words enough to analyse the possibility that perhaps he was trying to reach out in his own way… but Anna was hardly one to take another’s hand.
"Maybe I just don’t like people touching me." A matter of fact tone came and the ‘cold shoulder’ attitude continued on in a calm manner, though her demeanour eased slightly… always weak towards the companionship of others torn from normality due to extreme powers such as hers, Rogue’s and the like. A cool aura would definitely be felt by Aiden with the close proximity, her body drew away a little as she leaned against the window and let herself shift slightly away from him, adding yet another foot between them. The moisture on the window where she leaned crisped slightly, a thin and flimsy sheet of ice threatening to form as her body temperature increased in a defensive reflex… Frost always got uncomfortable when people tried to get close to her.
"It’s either Frost or Frostbite…I’m generous enough to offer you the choice." It wasn’t uncommon for the people who knew Frost to hesitate on answering questions such as ‘What’s Frost’s real name?’ as most were unaware of Anna’s real name, not unless they knew her uncle’s name… generally a few months passed before people pieced together the genetic relations between Bobby and Anna.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)"Maybe I just don’t like people touching me."
Fair enough. Quite so, Aiden thought to himself. Thantos himself knew that there were mutants in the school that had been cursed or gifted with powers offensive powers that involved touch, and that many had difficult times controlling them. Thantos himself knew far better than most here probably would. He doubted that many here had taken lives from the powers they emanated, let alone taken the lives of someone that they respected and loved. Aiden had done both things, neither willingly, and those thoughts went clearly though his mind as he regarded the blonde girl’s answer. The physical result was his facial expression showing a few faint hints of concern and the barest touch of sadness, which if the girl paid attention, she might notice.
What Constantine noticed though was a drop in temperature. Immediately he looked down to see if black flames lined his form, his inner beast curling out against his will, but it lay dormant, well within his control. What could it be then…? Aiden glanced over at the girl again to see her moving away from him, leaning against the window she had been looking out of before. His eyes flicked behind her just a tad, and noticed the ice sheet filming up against the glass, and it all made perfect sense to him.
"It’s either Frost or Frostbite…I’m generous enough to offer you the choice."
Made sense. At his stay in the mansion he’d not met any elementals before, but it seems that she had been christened with the codenames, likely due to her frosty personality as well as her powers. Fitting, but also cruel. Maybe she’d accidentally given someone frostbite before… it would explain the touch sensitivity. Aiden mentally stopped himself. He thought too damn much. Maybe it was just a tough name for a tough girl. That seemed more likely but regardless, the coldness of her personality just made him feel a bit more sorry for her. People shouldn’t have to put up walls. Icy ones, or otherwise.
At this moment, Aiden came to a quick realization. Unless she, or anyone else asked, he decided that he should probably keep his ‘powers’ to himself. He certainly didn’t want to scare anyone off. Looking at Frost made him realize that his own Death shroud was as much of a wall as her personality was for her. Maybe hers was a defense mechanism, but Aiden’s worked against his goals and wants. The last thing he wanted to happen to himself is to be isolated here, alone and fighting the monster inside of him. He realized very suddenly that he wanted to fight very fiercely against the thing that Frost had willingly done to herself.
He couldn’t help but wonder if she had done it willingly, or if she did want a friend. Either way, Aiden was here. He would be as kind giving as he would to everyone else, but she could take him or leave him.
Aiden continued to lean against the wall, arms still folded across his chest. He did not approach her when she backed off, but he did not back off any further, physically relaying the message that she could take him or leave him, but he was not going to go running off just because she had a quick whit and a deep sarcasm. To be truthful, he found her phrasing a bit entertaining. If she didn’t freeze him into a block of ice on the spot, or rejected his company entirely, she would make for incredibly interesting conversation. Not the same stock answers and words others always used, something fresh and new. A sense of dark sarcasm that almost felt… comfortable.
”Good to meet you, Frost.” He turned his eyes from her, looking back over the crowd of youth. She had noticed someone from there while Aiden was speaking to her, and apparently he had distracted her just a hair. It infuriated Aiden to have no idea what was going on, unable to interpret the looks and the knowing glances between the other mutants.
”So what’s going on with the cliques here? Who’s that guy you were looking at before? The older one in the jeans. With the brown haired girl.” He asked without looking at her, eyes intent on the crowd. Again, Aiden paused the briefest of pauses, less than half a second, ”Unless you’d rather me be out of your hair. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. People are cruel.”
There. It was said. If she wanted him gone, all she had to do was speak the word. He sincerely hoped she would not, however… but it would be discovered soon enough.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)*Great job at being stealthy,* Matt thought sarcastically as Aiden's gaze met his. Instead of looking away hastily, he let his eyes wander away slowly as though by mere chance, in the attempt to at least not appear like a prying freak. He had, after all, not looked out of curiosity but concern about the newbies well-being. Well... not only curiosity anyway. And anyone intrepid enough to approach Anna Drake really had to expect being stared - to make sure all of their parts were still functioning, naturally.
A familiar voice fortunately distracted his thoughts from any Frost-related ponderings, for the time being anyway. "Fiiiine," he replied to Angela's question mirroring her way of speaking more out of habit than anything else. While they hadn't known each other for that long – after all, they had only really met during the dreaded Training Missions – the two had already discovered they had quite a lot in common as far as general behaviour was concerned. In addition to that, however, Matt also had a habit of adopting certain speaking patterns when talking to people without even meaning to. Sometimes people thought he was making fun of them while in truth he was just subconsciously adapting to the way they spoke.
"And you?" Contrary to many others who just asked as a strange variation of 'hello', the light-elemental actually wanted to know. The Training Island Disaster (or TID for insiders) had left them all with the one or other souvenir; bruises, hurt pride or friends gone missing – you name it. There would have to pass more than just a week to get things back to normal, whatever that meant for X-Men anyway. For a moment, Matt wondered how it must have seemed for students that didn't know of the teams when several of their class mates had shown up after the weekend sporting black eyes or worse. Granted many had only minor injuries that wouldn't be seen outside locker rooms or the pool but the fact that there were enough who would get into a situation where they'd have to come up with an explanation was undeniable.
How would the staff deal with that, how had they ever been able to deal with it? Or was this just another one of those "you don't notice what you don't expect" type of cases where people came up with answers themselves, not asking because it seemed to logical. A football match maybe, or some other kind of sport where you ended up with some black and blue marks. Everything could make sense if you wanted it to, and what was more convenient than some excuse than accepting that there was something people, students, needed to be trained for? That there was war going on... One, incidentally, that Matt was not entirely aware of either.
"The new one's obviously not had the pleasure of meeting our lil' ice princess yet...," the contrasting mutant uttered quietly, only the slightest of inclinations towards Aiden and Frost given by his head. To make sure it wasn't taken as gossip, he added "Hope he's gonna be alright. Frost's not exactly got a reputation of being overly pleasant to have around... or patient." As much as he had tried to like the icy mutant, she hadn't and still wasn't making it easy for him and although Matt had yet not given up hoping there was something vaguely resembling human sentiments under her tough demeanour, there was an ever-growing part inside of him that claimed she was just an unapproachable sociopath who he just leave alone and not get in trouble with. Easy, one would think...
His easily diverted attention spotted a piece of paper lying on the floor next to where a lightly Hispanic-looking girl was standing, waiting for the teacher to arrive and let them into the classroom like everybody else. She wasn't that far away so he could conveniently obey his laziness and not walk over to her while still not needing to shout be heard. "Um, sorry? Did you just drop this?" he asked, pointing at the leaflet or whatever it was. She'd soon enough come to realise this school was pretty similar to every other one in terms of cliques, the it-people and the outsiders, so he could just as well show her there were normal people around too to counter any negative impressions she might get later on. Matt just assumed Isaura was new to the school without any reason other than the fact that he hadn't seen her before. Good thing he wasn't planning on ever working anything scientific in his life.
There comes a point in everyone's life when we have to take over responsibility. The question remains whether there is also a time when we can get rid of it again.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
(*goes on with what her and Josh semi-plotted despite horde of other people being around now* XD I loves you aaall)
”Good to meet you, Frost.” Sure, it always starts like that, best buddies and warm smiles, then things get cold, people get harsh, things go wrong. Who was he to decide he could play nice with her? Frost wasn’t stupid, and she wasn’t about to skip happily into his idiotic attempts of niceness, too often before she’d relented and look at her now? She had one friend, and ‘friend’ was barely a term she could call Riley, considering she hardly ever saw or talked to him.
”So what’s going on with the cliques here? Who’s that guy you were looking at before? The older one in the jeans. With the brown haired girl.” Why did new people always want to know everything that was going on, why couldn’t they just observe instead of forcing others to do all the hard work for them, ”Unless you’d rather me be out of your hair. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. People are cruel.” A sigh came and Frost unfolded her arms, shooting Aiden a rather irritated look.
"That’s right, people are cruel, I’m one of them." He was trying too hard to play nice and get close, what was he up to? What did he want? Why was he there!! Anna was quickly distracted however as Max and his group stopped nearby, quietening down for the most part yet still keeping up with their boisterous attitudes.
"Finnicky Finn returns!" Well that got Riley’s attention, who turned his head from where his eyes were watching for Catherine and now shifted to stare over at Max… who reacted to the annoyed look Riley had by grabbing his chest and overly dramatically falling to his knees in mockery to Riley’s unexplained collapse during his televised basketball game. Riley frowned slightly more at Max but looked away, more pointedly to avoid Max and instead stared off elsewhere unhappily. "Aww.. don’t get too upset Finny, wouldn’t want you collapsing on us again, especially since this time there’s no reporters to broadcast it." Effortlessly Max’s athletic legs pushed him off the ground without the aid of his hands, his body finding a balance swiftly and his wicked grin flashed happily to his friends who passed on a few hushed words.
Frost watched with a frown, before making a disapproving sound with her tongue while parting her lips to speak, "Max, shut up." The comment brought the young Chadstone to stare over at Frost with a slightly amused (if not partially surprised) look, though he grinned almost mischievously and looked far from intimidated by Frost’s demand.
"Don’t get jealous Frosty, I didn’t mean to neglect you," …Neglect her? Frost stared for a moment and then folded her arms once again, not sure entirely what he was hinting at yet fully aware what he was like and deciding whatever he was saying was obviously idiotic and stupid. "It’s good of you to stick up for poor Riley though, after all, we all saw how much his last girlfriend demolished his backbone." that’s it, that did it, Max ruffled Riley’s feathers now! Rubbed him clear on the wrong way and Riley turned his attention once again to Max and the frown that marred his features was far from pleasant.
"Oh please Max," Frost continued with a near roll of her eyes, "I think all of us who were around remember the last time you tried to play macho with Riley, understandably so you’re memories are probably a little fuzzy, what with being out cold on the first shot and all." Xavier’s was supposed to be a place of peace, and equal rights, but when Max first came his father pushed Max so much that the young mutant had actively supported ‘mutant rights’ in the sense that humans were meaningless and nothing in comparison, and three years ago Chadstone had made the mistake of corning Dawn Summers, a friend of Riley… Which really pushed Riley into confronting Max and ended up with the rich boy sporting a black eye and Riley with a detention of sorts.
Now it was Max’s turn to look less then pleased, though his friend defended Max and Lara herself was already looking bored, though she passed her time with a wicked little smirk on her lips as she planned just how to deal with little miss Drake at a later point.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
"That’s right, people are cruel, I’m one of them."
The Constantine youth didn’t smile, although he wanted to. She was too clearly trying to scare him off. He’d seen the same scenario a thousand times over, and made enough friends in his old world that her biting words slid off of him harmlessly. He guessed that she feared interaction in general, letting someone in so that they could hurt her again, whatever might have happened. He wouldn’t rock her boat anymore for the moment, he began to think but any thoughts he had left on the girl’s psyche fled him immediately as he heard a call from the crowd.
"Finnicky Finn returns!"
Aiden knew that mocking tone. Coppery orbs slipped up from their downward glance to fix on a blonde athletic boy taunting the very individual he had asked Frost about a moment earlier. The taunter put a hand to his chest and fell to his knees, "Aww.. don’t get too upset Finny, wouldn’t want you collapsing on us again, especially since this time there’s no reporters to broadcast it."
What had this Finn gone through that was publicized? Some mutant power gone awry? Heart attack? Whatever it was, it was no laughing matter, and at that moment, Thantos found himself seething. Again, he knew this all too well. If anyone were paying attention to the Constantine, which considering the display most probably were not, the shade of copper that filled the portals of his sight began to darken. Aiden’s whole stance seemed to change without him moving much at all. Muscles in folded arms tightened, eyebrows narrowed, and his head lowered ever so gently, eyes locking on the blonde boy.
A memory surged in him. The same mocking tone, half a year ago. A sneering face of an athlete he knew too well. “What’s wrong, Grim? Having troubles?” David. Looking down at him from the tackle the football player had administered.
A bully. In this age group? People would never lear-
"Max, shut up." Frost’s voice. Not surprising. She’d looked over at the man when she’d seen him coming. Aiden barely registered the fact that her defending him proved that she did care for something, weather she was conscious of the fact or not. She’d revealed a hole in her armor to Max and it would only be a second before…
Don’t get jealous Frosty, I didn’t mean to neglect you,"
“Come on, Spooky. Just because you’re the runt doesn’t mean that you have to associate with them.” David again, talking down to Vivian’s friends. The classic battle of the social classes, the Jocks versus the Outsiders. The look of arrogance in his eyes. The utter contempt for those beings lower than him that it was palpable. Aiden stood in between his brother and sister, both their eyes locked on each other, himself remaining there, a wall, to keep the punches from being thrown. David had gone and tried to slap his sister for retorting in front of his friends which had gathered. Aiden had caught the wrist and the two had locked eyes for a full ten seconds before the older brother had turned and stormed away.
"It’s good of you to stick up for poor Riley though, after all, we all saw how much his last girlfriend demolished his backbone.
This was pointless. Pointless! Nothing but another being wishing pain and misery upon another for pure entertainment value. Aiden’s eyes were the color of blood when he removed the flat of his foot from the wall, and ever so slowly placed it upon the floor. Covered arms fell to his sides as long fingers curled into fists. Ever so slowly, hints of black flame began to slide around Aiden’s form. Max Chadstone was presenting himself to be Aiden’s anti-thesis, and it quite frankly pissed the Constantine off more than a little. He had no thoughts of control now, no worry over his powers, just an overwhelming urge to tell the athlete to shut the hell up.
The general vicinity around Thantos began to cool, not the chill of an icy wind, but something empty, the sheer lack of any heat. Finally, his form was wreathed in the dark aura, however slightly, fueled by his anger, that anger apparent in those deep red orbs.
Frost was saying something, but the words didn’t really register to Thantos. He felt the cool sharp tone of them though, like an ice sickle, true to her name, and silently approved, never bothering to look over at her. Whatever she’d said must have stung the bully though, his face contorting as those of his group shared similar looks. He looked about ready to explode.
”Waste of space…” Thantos murmured quietly, the aura seeming to affect his voice slightly. It was definitely the same voice that had spoken to Frost just a moment ago, except holding the effect of being grated across granite. Aiden hoped that Max would hear him. He hoped that the athlete would come over. He hoped that he could take this fool down a peg or two. Deep eyes never left Chadstone’s as he spoke it, if the bully would notice, it would be an open invitation, something inherently male. Come. Let’s do this.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
It wasn’t too bad, Isaura supposed as she began to view what was to be her new classmates with more interest than apprehension. They weren’t too terrifying, no three headed, fire breathing monsters that threatened lunch money, no more than her last classmates. Well, there was one other girl in the class that did feel…was cold a right word? But everyone felt a little strange. Like strangers. She’d lived in the States long enough to pick up a popular word to answer her rather obvious feelings. Duh!
Well, still time to be proved wrong, Isa told herself. But after more students than she could count on one hand had entered the room, she relaxed a bit. She had to stop working herself up because of a new school. It wasn’t as if this was the first time. And she’d gotten through the first couple of days without accidentally stumbling into the social crowd as the hated newcomer like she heard could sometimes happen. Lucky her, she had yet to start out a new school head first in a dumpster.
She could really warm up to this group. And she wasn’t exactly being sarcastic. Relaxing a bit at the realization that they all socialized, seemed to have groups like everyone else, everything that was normal. It was a comforting thought.
"Um, sorry? Did you just drop this?" came a voice out of nowhere. Or not exactly nowhere, more to the side. It took Isaura a moment to discover he meant her as she took a quick check in the book in her arm then back at the paper. It was like that little slip of paper was attempting to be the end of her with its refusal to stay tucked in her book when not in her hand. She wondered how embarrassing it would have been to lose her schedule so soon. With a muttered curse under her breath, she snatched up the sheet and turned it over to verify.
Isa had yet to commit the path to her classes to memory. The paper crinkled at the edges where her fist tightened possessively as she looked up to the other student with grateful eyes and the barest blush at her clumsiness. Hell, he’d spoken first if only to point out she’d drop something, and she had to get talking or soon get absorbed into the wall and have an awkwardly quiet class.
“Oh geez, thanks,” Isaura held it out to show its importance. “I would have been lost to class for the next three weeks. It seems like all the doors in this place looks the same.” More like she’d been concentrating on getting through the first couple days rather than getting a feel of the school. “A pain to adjust…” Isa added shortly. Tucking the paper inside the book cover, she double checked it was a little more secure. Next chance she had, she was investing in a folder. Even if it had cartoon characters and was obnoxiously childish and stupid looking.
And that seemed like all that she had to say. Funny, she couldn’t remember how she usually initiated conversations. Slipping her book under her arm once more, her eyes scanned for something else to comment on without seeming overly talkative. It seemed rude to butt into other business, and she suppressed her curiosity on what was going on with the group having a conversation a tad less friendly than a tea party. Class seemed to take forever to start. With a fading friendly smile, Isaura tugged at the end of the spiral wire of her notebook.
She didn’t want to interrupt, but it was starting to be a nagging worry, a little paranoia at the extended wait. It would be just her luck to be at the wrong class. Sorry, professor, guess I decided I felt like mathematics instead of science. Hesitating for a moment, she made a small sound toward the helpful boy and his small troupe.
“Ah, sorry…This is …General Science, right? Or should I start running down the hall now?” Her voice trailed off a bit as she gave a sincere smile as she glanced once into her book for her schedule. “It turns out being lost comes with being new. Like a packaged deal.” So did the tendency to annoy the older students, but she’d rather figure out the schedule than make friends. It had been her goal, start a new school with a clean slate and a decent impression on the teachers.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
"Fiiiine," Came a reply to Angie’s previous morning greeting, she smiled slightly, always amused by the fact that a German had so strong an English accent at times, though his choice of reply didn’t exactly show off his good grasp on the English language. "And you?" There was a rather sluggish shrug of her shoulders in reply, life as it seemed was more complicated now then the her relationship with her mother and if that was for better or worse Angie couldn’t honestly say just yet.
"The new one's obviously not had the pleasure of meeting our lil' ice princess yet...," Dark lined eyes peered over towards Frost and the other boy, her eye’s discreet movements returning yet again to Matt’s face as the corner of her lips tugged slightly more at the implications. Frost was strong, Angie admitted that, but she was still very cold, no pun intended, and it bothered Angie and made her uncomfortable when people chose not to speak to her, for whatever reasons they had. Though, in this case, it seemed the better of options to be off Frost’s radar then have her notice you and then get a mouthing off.
"Hope he's gonna be alright. Frost's not exactly got a reputation of being overly pleasant to have around... or patient." A small nod was given in agreement, though her brown eyes had already slipped off to spot the other familiar faces being riddled with not so familiar faces. A girl, a boy… there was Max and that chick Angie saw hanging around him often. It seemed like more then half the boys had well defined forms and it made Angela just that slightly bit depressed and restless at the thought they all most likely, if not definitely, were taken or out of her reach.
"Um, sorry? Did you just drop this?" Attention returned to Matt without having realized that it had actually left till then, a curse of being easily distracted but luckily one they both shared and so it wasn’t something either held against the other on the occasions they’re minds slipped off. However it turned out that Matt hadn’t even been talking to her, instead it was one of the unfamiliar faces that Angie noted before. Though, despite the comment from Matt, Angie quickly found her attention diverted again, more focused on that of Frost once more. Something was happening, and yet oddly enough it didn’t seem as if it were between the boy and Frost as one would have expected (if they knew Frost in any case). Whatever was going on between Max and the others seemed to be highly displeasing… why was it that so often the cute ones were the psychotic ones? It’s why most of the nice guys get swept away by the bimbo girls.. as long as they’re pretty, who needs to be kind? That, however, was just Angela’s bitter outlook on a few past ‘would be relationships’ or male friends who whined about their nasty/cheating/has issues girlfriends.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
So it had after all been the girl's paper, Matt inwardly diagnosed the obvious with a certain pinch of relief. He had no issues talking to strangers but hated disturbing those who had better things to do. Well, granted that hadn't seemed to be the case with this one, but you could never know; something that was especially true when you were in a mutant school where people could seem unoccupied while their minds were off playing chess with someone in Zimbabwe. Or whatever. The times when he had been amazed by other people's powers had long passed, which wasn't really a surprise considering that 'special' is just such a subjective term that conditioning can easily change it into 'ordinary'.
"I would have been lost to class for the next three weeks. It seems like all the doors in this place looks the same," the younger girl said calling forth a chuckle from him. Matthias had felt quite the same those few months ago when he had arrived at the Institute, obliged to take up classes and lead a normal life. Or 'normalish' considering the circumstances that had led to his becoming a member of Storm's team. There were only so many hours spent with Frost and Madison for anyone to realise 'ordinary' too was quite dependent on personal interpretations, their personal vendetta being of the kind that's prone to collateral damage, one way or the other.
For a moment, the black-haired student got distracted by the quarrel involving that very ice-elemental he had just thought about. Surprisingly enough, it didn't seem that Anna had been the one starting the fight though which was impressive and most unusual in Matt's experience. He hadn't really bothered to find out what the thing was about, just that it apparently targeted someone named Finn, whoever that was. The light-manipulating young man had never been good with names but still he doubted he knew the guy this was all about... which did, however, not make the attack any nicer. Cheating on his girlfriend and bullying – Matt could but wonder whether Chadstone's list of misdoings was even longer than that. Granted he barely knew Aurora's ex and had so far almost exclusively got biased opinions about him, but the image that was beginning to form in his mind was still not the most positive one.
However, Matt sternly told himself to not judge before officially having met the guy. How could he be sure what he really was like if he had only ever seen him from afar? There were plenty of people who put up a façade to hide behind when being in public, people that turned out to be entirely different when not feeling the need to put up a show of sort. Actually, Matthias was convinced that most people did that to some extent. Who wanted to have strangers look right down into their core? And that aside, as shallow as it was, the bully's attractiveness made it hard for Matt to really dislike him as what he knew so far would have warranted somewhat. A fact, incidentally, that had so far also helped in keeping Anna Frost off his black list, if only marginally so.
"Ah, sorry…This is …General Science, right?" Isaura's question made him snap back into reality with guilty embarrassment. How long had he kept her waiting for a reply to what she had said before? A somewhat sheepish grin came and went. "Yep, you're right here." The words came with an assuring smile. Like most he knew all too well how it felt to be new in an unfamiliar environment where everybody seemed to already have settled in and formed their circle of friends. Everyone but you of course. It had something of blamelessly entering the cinema late with only one seat left vacant, somewhere in the upper middle, on the way to which you were bound to step on people's toes and block out their view on the film. It wasn't your fault and you didn't mean to but couldn't really avoid getting into trouble one way or the other.
"Actually they do all look the same, sort of," the contrasting mutant admitted with some delay, "but you'll learn to tell them apart sooner or later, trust me." After all, he had learnt to not get lost too often around the mansion and that had to mean something considering Matt's impressive sense of orientation.... or more precisely his lack thereof. "And if all else fails, you could draw yourself a map," he added with a slightly teasing grin. It usually didn't take him long to pull someone's leg, he couldn't help it, but it was rarely malicious and so he hadn't really bothered to try and get rid of that habit. Actually it very often helped to get rid of awkwardness and had thus even something positive to it if nothing else.
There comes a point in everyone's life when we have to take over responsibility. The question remains whether there is also a time when we can get rid of it again.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
A watch, by definition is 'a small portable timepiece, especially one worn on the wrist or carried in the pocket' not that Catherine Hall's attendance would have been significantly improved by her possessing one. If she was late for class, it was because she chose to be tardy rather than it being due to forgetfulness. For once, however, she wasn't slouching into the classroom five minutes after the bell had sounded, today she was on time.
Cat struggled in many of her studies, the difficulty of the work inducing her to stop trying rather than motivating her to try harder. The lack of effort led to her falling behind even further which in turn caused her to become even more lazy in her attitude to her lessons. In short she was trapped within her own destructive cycle. She'd learnt that Jean was not a woman to be rubbed the wrong way. The deputy headmistress had made her views on Catherine's attendance quite clear, the result being that Cat now, if rather grudgingly did turn up to almost all her lessons. Not that the improvement in attendance did much to increase her knowledge of the subject, the young women spent most of her time staring out of the window, leaving whoever she was lab partnered with to do most of the work.
Her gently curling hair was artfully pinned up by some means hidden to the eye, a couple of golden brown strands falling almost carelessly to frame her face. She was wearing dark blue, boot cut jeans, a white three quarter length shirt and a small strappy white top. From under the bottom of her jeans peaked a pair of newish trainers. Catherine's heart shaped face with her strikingly dark eyes glanced around the hallway as she approached the classroom. There was only one person she was looking for... her face broke into a smile as she caught sight of Riley.
The young woman elegantly threaded her way though the grouped students as she approached the object of her desires. She pointedly ignored all the conversations which were going on around her, in the presence of Riley everything else turned to a fuzzy black and white. 'Hi Riley.' Her face tilted up slightly as she came to a halt, her dark gaze lifting to look up at him. The now familiar butterfly feeling she sometimes got when she looked at her ex partner rose, twisting inside her stomach. 'Do you wanna be lab partners?' She shot him a rather hopeful, rather shy glance, bluntly ignoring the fact that Miss Grey might assign them lab partners.

Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)'Hi Riley.' The voice was like a summon from a day dream, though more accurately it was a daymare as Riley pouted at the show Max put on, trying easily enough to humiliate the former agent and with topics he was so sensitive about. Though the simple words seemed to wash it all away, snapping Riley’s attention as if waking him from a light rest, hazel eyes lifting to meet Catherine’s darker ones as he half turned towards the familiar voice. A smile formed, swift and bright, all recent annoyance from Max swept away in the flood of warmth seen in her smile.
She came! The moment between her hello and comment was filled contently with eager smiles, though Riley fidgeted with his books, hugging them to his front for a brief moment before decidedly lowering them to his stomach in an attempt for a more manly stance. She looks really nice… It was both a blessing and a curse because Riley was more then aware of a few others who were keen on Catherine and some were really idiotic on his basketball team and actually asked him for advice on how to approach her. Idiotic because Riley got upset and it’s a physical sport and he kept accidentally throwing the ball too hard, but at least the smarter ones backed off. Riley tended to be a little short sighted at times, which was clear at his party when Riley occasionally held little interest in gifts given to him by people he didn’t know and yet cherished anything Catherine or his family or friends gave him.
'Do you wanna be lab partners?' Such confidence surprised Riley, his grin widened more positively, Yes yes yes yes…"Ok, sure Catherine."Yes! Shyly he looked down, trying to smoothen out the excitement of her effortless decision for him to be paired with her… he’d freely gloat happily now, at least inwardly if nothing else. Stop grinning like an idiot, it’s not like I haven’t seen her all week.
"And hey…we’re coordinate." There was a chuckle as he noted their white attire with blue jeans. Shifting the balance of his books, Riley made it so one hand could hold them while the other lifted to rub the back of his neck, he’d been laying down a lot the last few days and he felt like he needed a good stretch, yet with all his physical restrictions he reframed from doing anything. "You look nice… are you doing something special today?" Catherine had her swings, from her casual baggy to her slender and stylish, Riley was jealous enough to wonder if she was trying to impress someone and yet hopeful enough that it could be him she was trying to get noticed by. Then again it wasn’t like Catherine had to try, be it in her old sea world shirt or her slim red dress, he only ever really had eyes for her… ok there was Claire, but as eager as Riley had been in meeting someone and being classified as ‘more then friends’, the girl had slept with everyone but Riley and made no attempt to hide it. He spoiled her, she stayed with him despite the two not clicking because Riley gave Claire everything she needed while scraping through final few years of highschool… but Catherine was different, yes he spoiled her too on occasion, the horse he got her just a blunt example of such things. However he felt for her, and unlike Claire, Riley could see glimpses of affection that Catherine dotted on him, which struggled to shine through all her confusion and uncertainties at times but when it did it was strong and true.

Clear eyes, held his gaze as he looked down at her. "Ok, sure Catherine." A smile rose to her face to echo the one upon his own face. Inside she felt like dancing, she'd not expected him to say no, but it was nice to hear him say yes. They partnered each other enough for it not to be odd that she should request to work with him. Plus, as well as being the most attractive partner in the class working with Riley came with the added bonus that he'd do most of the hard work and she could scrape through the class with minimal effort on her side.
"And hey…we’re coordinate." Cat found herself grinning and blushing a little at the same time, they were coordinate because she'd asked Charlie to find out what he was wearing. She nodded in response, not sure what to reply to him. Catherine let her eyes wander over the groups of students that were waiting for the class to begin. Her eyes narrowed slightly as they alighted upon the figure of Max, she tossed her head slightly, the curls framing her face bouncing as she moved. Turning her attention back to Riley she listened as he continued speaking. "You look nice… are you doing something special today?"
'Aww thanks Riley.' Her expression brightened at the comment, pleased that he'd complimented her in public. That would show those other girls who thought they could nudge in on the spot where Catherine used to stand just because her and Riley ere no longer together. It was a position she wasn't about to yield lightly to anyone, let alone some little hussy who was going to make eyes at him from across the corridor. The pretty, blonde girl who'd been looking at Riley gave him a hopeful smile now his ex's attention was diverted away from her.
'No I'm not doing anything tonight.' Her words were almost a hint, and she'd hoped he'd take it. She'd rather like to spend the evening with him, but she didn't want to ask him outright in front of everyone in case he was busy. But her reply hadn't really been an answer to the question he'd asked. Catherine stuck her hands in her back pockets as she waited for him to respond.

Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
Note, the two students not too far away? Didn't get along. Isa wasn't sure what was the use of that information, but at least she was on her way to learning something. Learning, she wasn't absorbing science, but at least she could fill her brain with these social interest matters. Another note to self, don't get the icy girl angry. The entire argument simply made her uncomfortable, more than the usual pretend-not-to-notice-but-still-noticing uncomfortable feeling that came with watching other people argue. Unconsciously, the girl rubbed her arm with a small scowl. Some fights seemed hot and angry. This one seemed the equivalent to turning up the air conditioning and bringing the temperature to absolute zero.
And here I was expecting people to be warm and cuddly, Isa smirked to herself. Nevertheless, she took a tiny step away from them, as if the extra distance would alleviate the slight shiver down her body. Shiver? Maybe she was getting sick. Damn, she hoped not. Shaking more than a margarita and glowing worse than Tinkerbell. That was something she really didn’t need.
The fight did trigger one thought. Starting mid-year, it was different from beginning school on the first day. Alliances made, friendships broken, reformed, changed. She should have agreed to home schooling, at least staying in her old school and then starting with a new school term. Well, there was a reason why her mother used to say she wasn’t always the ripest banana in the bunch. Whatever that meant.
At least it didn’t seem like an all-around bad mood day, other people around her and striking up friendlier conversations. She might as well get a head start on learning names, whether she talked to them or not. It finally occurred that if she was learning the names of those she was innocently eavesdropping, she should at least introduce herself to one person in this place. The boy she who had helped her? Might as well start with him.
"Yep, you're right here."
First mistake of the day? It wasn’t going to be going to the wrong class! The confirmation was a good sign. It meant that she was beginning to get a hang of finding her way around. Almost. At least there would be one glass she would be able to find. As long as she could remember how she got here.
Actually they do all look the same, sort of," he added. Well that was a relief. She wasn‘t the only one who might require a compass to get back to her room. "but you'll learn to tell them apart sooner or later, trust me."
“Oh, I really hope so.” Isa grinned. Another first day of school, years ago, she’d wandered into the boys locker room in her search for her physiology class. She didn’t think she’d be getting a lesson in human anatomy that soon. She decided to leave that little experience out. “I’ll get used to it sooner or later.”
"And if all else fails, you could draw yourself a map,"
Feigning insult, Isaura’s fleeting scowl was replaced with a mischievous smile. “Me? I have the sense of direction of a goddess.“ Isa flicked her braid over her shoulder with an exaggerated haughtiness. Mocking her? He seemed nice, and she was nice too. Wouldn’t be polite to not return the favor. “So you suggest the map thing from experience?” she asked inquisitively. “I would, but sadly, cartography isn’t among my talents. Any map of mine that I followed, I can assure you, I’ll end up the middle of a football field, waiting for lunch.” Somehow, learning to read star maps hadn’t improved her abilities in following a good, old fashioned map of the school.
“I’m Isaura, by the way. Isa,” she finally introduced herself. If the boy was starting to joke around already, then she called it a comfortable moment to make his acquaintance. “And obviously, I’m either new or directionally retarded.” Hopefully the others here were as nice. Although…she’d wait a bit before introducing herself to the bickering two.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)
A shake of Frost’s head was all the icy girl could offer, some people were just idiots and Max was definitely one of the ring leaders as far as idiots go. Though a coolness to the air radiating from beside her forced Frost to turn her attention from Max and his small group to the other boy beside her.
”Waste of space…” That was true, Frost readily agreed, though Max thrived off the fact he could really rile people up and she wondered if it was better or worse to have someone so obviously upset by the bully… well most were really tired of Max but few stood up to him, some just wanted to ignore him and hope that he’d go away so they could have some peace. If you get in his face things tend to only go from bad to worse. Ms Drake let her light hue eyes slip over towards Max once again, just to see how his reaction to this confrontational stance was going to be, and it seemed for the moment Max brushed Aiden off with an almost arrogant sneer… Frost was trying to figure out if she was glade or disappointed about the bully’s smart play to ignore the obvious invitation… Then again, this was Max, he never ignored, neglected momentarily perhaps, but he liked to get into peoples faces and Frost couldn’t imagine Max would just let something like this go, though Chadstone did prefer his targeted people, not just any random soul that crossed his path.
Hazel eyes of the former Basketball player peered off discreetly towards Max, who was commenting to Lara as the two talked quietly out of earshot of Aiden and Frost, though with a slight frown as Riley recalled the things Max had said of Catherine and their relationship Rye once again tried to black the other boy out.
'Aww thanks Riley.' The attractive smile broadened at Catherine’s thanks and Riley’s glance moved almost shyly towards the nearest student, only briefly passing over them before looking back at his former date. As often was the case the former agent of the Initiative found himself very confused and unsure with his placement in regards to Catherine and their relationship, if it was still a relationship or not… they were always talking and always happy to meet each other, and she’d not dumped him after he was pretty sure they got back together… So… technically that’d mean they’re still dating but then again she’d don’t done anything to suggest that either, though she could say the same of him, he only held back though because he wasn’t sure what their relationship was… how sad was that?
Though admittedly they’d not had much of a chance to talk really… her visit to Medbay aside, the medical centre really wasn’t a place for warm talks and cuddles… now that he was out though Riley fully intended on finding his boundaries with Catherine and was determined to go slow and steady and keep things as discreet as possible… But just because he planned to do so didn’t mean it was likely to work, more often then not he ended up messing something up or things just got out of hand before he could take control.
Things didn’t seem to be going well around them though and it made trying to warm up to Catherine’s presence hard as his eyes felt obligated to keep darting off suspiciously to examine the rest of the group, only for this reason did Riley catch a girl staring at him and since she was smiling he gave an awkward yet curt smile back before disregarding her once again in favour of Catherine.
'No I'm not doing anything tonight.' …Nothing? That was great… well for him it was! Though could he suggest something without sounded eager? Ah hell… even if he planned something for weeks ahead he’d still find some excuse to be nervous or unsure, and as he quickly thought his tell tale sign of being anxious appeared while his lower lip was gently bitten. Though it only lasted a moment before his lip was released and Riley’s head lowered with a shy grin finding its way to his lips.
"…Do… uh…" Wasn’t exactly the smooth head strong and confident approach he was aiming for, and with that thought Riley’s resolve strengthened and he looked up at her… he could face demons, but he shied away at asking her to dinner? "I’m going to make chicken kiave… chips, salad… cream caramel for desert… I think that’s what it was called… if you want something to do we can take Katie to the gardens and out in the barbeque area, there’s those gas heaters so we’ll be warm." His eyes dropped away briefly as he talked though quickly lifted again. "Or if you want something else…" Riley’s voice trailed off a little though as he looked over towards Aiden, a slight frown appearing on his face, the new guy seemed ready to blow and if Max had his way then it was likely to occur, and there was no satisfaction it seemed greater then Max working someone else up to a point of losing control. A hand rested on the side of Catherine’s arm, an apologetic look given to her as he reluctantly readied to leave her side.
"Sorry, you missed out on the first half of the fire works but looks like things are still carrying on, I don’t want it to get out of hand." His voice was quiet, and he had inched a little closer to her so not to be easily overheard, and with that he pulled away, trying to not think about the fact Dr McCoy may be less then pleased to know Riley was going to get involved in something classified as ‘stressful’ but then again Riley could hardly allow things to escalate further now, could he?
"Ooooo… here we go." The mock whisper was from Lara and Riley slowed to a stop as he neared Aiden, the boy wasn’t familiar to Riley like most of the new students had usually been the last few years… sometimes Riley missed getting the reports about new comers but then again it was unfair and another part was really glade he no longer had to pry into their lives as well. He was sure Catherine would be less then pleased to know what he knew about her. Though admittedly everything was very vague and while he knew he read the reports he also suffered a few memory fiddles from the Initiative and that helped blur things… he still had their reports stored away but he respected things enough to not look over them again. Riley looked over towards Aiden, trying to tell the guy to cool off and ignore Max with a simple glance, it wasn’t always easy but sometimes it worked and in some ways it was nice to have someone else get overly annoyed with Max too.
"Alright everyone," Riley spoke louder to try and get the classes attention, "We can’t very well stand out in the hall, Mrs Summers is obviously running late, the roster had no mention of her cutting any classes this week so we’ll have to assume she’s on her way and just held up, otherwise she’d have sent someone to cover her." Riley approached the door, temporarily resuming his student teacher role as he decided to at least get people to sit down in the class room instead of hover outside riling each other up. "I’ll open the door for us to sit down so we’re not crowding the hall, and then I’ll call to see what’s going on with our teacher."
"Super Finnicky saves the day again." The mock reply from Max was hardly intelligent but highly annoying and Riley sighed a little, looking towards Catherine if only to gather the strength to put up with the Chadstone’s prattle. Riley pulled out his wallet, which was one of Catherine’s few gifts to him and as all her presents he cherished it greatly. Pulling a zip aside Riley fished for one of the few keys that sat in his wallets pocket… the silver was his room key, and it was attached to the zip itself… the class room key (which worked for all the classrooms) was a metallic blue, which he pulled out and slipped into the door handle to unlock the room.
Max looked over at Aiden, almost cautious in his thoughts before he looked towards Riley, so itching to make a comment and yet smart enough to notice the dangerous edge that came over the newbie. A wicked look was cast towards Catherine though, there was both a charm and a malice to Max as he puckered his lips towards her to give a few kisses, which Riley caught as he pushed open the door to the room and looked back to see what was happening now. Ok… now Riley snapped.
"Max, why don’t you just leave?" The heated annoyance come strong in Riley’s voice, a simmering anger laying under the fragile surface of control. After what Catherine has been through she wouldn’t be treated like that, especially by some arrogant racist jerk that warranted names Riley was too well brought up to use!
"Why don’t you make me?" The arrogant reply came with a smile on Max’s face as Riley stepped towards the well known trouble maker, as far as Max cared Riley couldn’t hurt him, not if Riley wanted to remain on the school faculty. Such sweet pain to conflict, and Riley deserved every ounce of it in Max’s opinion, he was just an overrated pain in the neck who thought he was so spectacular. Even if Riley never went on about being so, Max felt he could see it and that’s all that counted for the bully.
"Why don’t I break you?" The words came in a lowered scorn as Riley thought nothing better then beating this guy down till he remembered he was just as human as anyone else in this school, mutant gene or not Max wasn’t any better then anyone else and he was a lost cause as far as trying to get Max to see that went.
"That’s not a very heroic statement." Max retorted calmly with a wry smile, folding his arms to show he was as relaxed as he sounded.
"I wouldn’t count on winning the vote for that." Riley assured Max in a round about way of saying in the student teachers opinion more people disliked Max then liked him, and it’d utterly stun Riley to learn otherwise. "I suggest you leave if you’re only here to get on people’s nerves." Again Riley tried to suggest Max leave, there was no point inviting Max in if he was still just going to try and start trouble.
"Aww… but maybe I like seeing you all flustered like… anyone ever tell you you’re cute when you’re mad?" The statement actually confused Riley, it definitely wasn’t something he’d expected and even though Max was still mocking him Riley stared for a moment. Lara chuckled and Riley looked over at the blonde… this was going nowhere fast and Riley was definitely not about to get himself all worked up over someone so worthless in his books.
"I don’t know if I should be angry with you… or just pity you." Now it was Riley’s turn to speak calmly and Max sneered at the comment, though Riley was sincere, really.. the guy seemed to lost in his pointless need to fight and fight over things that were hardly important, Max had no life if all he could do was find different ways to ruin other peoples days.
"Oh god, look who’s doing the pitying," Max had to contain a laugh though it was poorly done, "Talk about a fall from grace on your part, Mr All-star turned into Howard Hughes’s introverted love-sick puppy." So cruel a statement, and yet said with such a casual grace that Riley took a moment for it to sink in, though Riley struggled to remember where he heard the name from before, as Mr Hughes was few generations before Riley’s time. "But we shouldn’t be talking like this… you’re very fragile right now," Max was brushing him off! Riley glared at the suggestion that he was anything but capable of looking after himself, and he hated people belittling him and his health, how dare this twerp even try and use the heart attack against him. A muscular hand grabbed at Max’s shirt, which in tern caused Max’s own toned arm to defensively reach out and press against Riley’s front to help push him away as Riley grabbed to pull him forward.
"Hey! Knock it off Max, before I freeze-dry what you consider to be god’s gift to humanity!" Frost’s demand may be aimed at Max but it was also for Riley in order to get the two to stop before yet another scuffle with them break out, last thing Riley needed was another telling off but this time he was a teacher, not just a student and he’d been talking about this position he now has for other a year and a half, she didn’t want to see him lose it after all the ups and downs he’s gone through the last year.
Re: Thantos and General Science! ((Friday March 16th, Open!)((Alrighty. Edited my first and second posts to fit with the door locking..ness...thing. It works no[/i]
The world seemed to boil. Existance was anger and Thantos saw only the athlete, smirking and tossing rude comments, designed to injure. In truth, the mutant of Death did not even see Max Chadstone at this point. He saw the spitting image of his brother, taking Aiden and his world down a few pegs, that he might elevate himself. It was too much. He couldn't deal with it. It was against everything he...
Riley, the one being taunted primarily, turned and gave a glance at Aiden. Through the black haze, the older man's eyes told the younger mutant volumes. Don't do it. He's not worth the trouble it will get you. It's not worth your time. Or pain.
The Constantine youth turned his eyes back to the bully, and all of a sudden, it wasn't the dark-haired football player taunting Riley, but the very regular, sneering, Max Chadstone.
This. Isn't. David.
It's not your fight. What's the MATTER with you?
Aiden Constantine suddenly found himself feeling very foolish. He had become caught up in his own emotions so deeply that he had officially lost his cool. After a quick realization of where he was in the world, after falling out of the state of emotion, he realized his aura was flaring.
What am I doing?
An almost sad expression crossed Constantine's face as his red eyes closed. A deep breath was inhaled, and the aura surrounding the boy seeped back into him. The day regained it's warmth and light, everything appearing to normalize around him. Eyelids opened again, and a deep copper shaded the lenses of his eye, instead of the blood-red that had previously. Hands that had been curled closed into tight fists relaxed, the knuckles of the fingers popping due to the strength of which they had been clenched. His whole body slipped back against the wall again, feeling the chill of the wall behind him through his shirt. He let out a small sigh. The two had been began a back and forth tirade again, but Aiden found himself in a reflectory state of mind, not wishing to pay close attention to the words that each of them spoke.
What caused me to go off the deep end like that? I'm not usually so quick to anger... What happened?
...Is the aura hungry?
...Did...David somehow...
Whatever had happened, it must not have been of his own doing. At least Aiden hoped it was not. At any rate, when Riley reached foreword to grab the shirt of the Chadstone, Aiden beheld it with a gaze that was clear of rage, his or otherwise.
A voice beside him. "Hey! Knock it off Max, before I freeze-dry what you consider to be god’s gift to humanity!" That girl again. Aiden had honestly forgotten that she was there for a moment. Perfect. She probably thought him an absolute freak by now, first attempting to engage in unwanted conversation, then nearly losing his cool and unleashing... who even knew what she thought of his powers...
Regardless, when Aiden pushed himself away from the wall, he found himself determined once more, yet lacking the anger that had hindered him before. His voice came again, the haze of black around him fading as he did so, so that the beginning of his sentence was spoken in the frightening, near demonic tone, and the end shifted back to the voice of a nineteen year old that was an excellent singer.
"I think we should all make our way in. From the looks of things, if we don't, you'll probably be mobbed, Max. Couldn't have that."
His tone at the end was spoken slyly, indicating very clearly that if the Chadstone came to blows, this newcommer would be one of the several that would stand against him. Aiden hoped that the slight demonstration, despite it's foolishness, would give him a bit of an air of mystery and danger, hoping that his now-calmly spoken words would convince even the impulsive Chadstone that this course of action was not worth persuing.
Behind his smooth expression, Aiden almost wondered if he could hear David's laughter from the window behind him. For the life of him, he could not dare to turn.
