The Best House on the Barren Rock(Marquis)
Derence was dressed formally for the first time in weeks. Not that he was particularly pleased about it. The coat was nice, no doubt about it, but he hated the event. But then again anything involving the Federation tended to require heavy drinking afterwards to wash right out the frustration they always generated. The quiet threat of war was becoming less and less in comparison to the constant aggravation that the damn Federation caused him and ELF. He still had yet to forget their last wound, the siezing of Idolo.
He calmed himself inwardly, composing himself outside the door of the 'local' fleet admiral. Marquis. Now there was a viper in the snake's pit. He could never stand the man. He distrusted the Federation, yes, but he'd happily accept the Federation's decisions... hell, even BAHRAM's decisions over the decisions of Marquis and his machinations. None the less he was the highest ranking Federation soldier in the area. Sadly not the only one, but it would have to do. He turned his hand around, knocking on the door with his knuckles.

Re: The Best House on the Barren Rock(Marquis)
The door slid open, revealing the officer, who was reclined in his rather comfy-looking chair.
"Oh, Mr. Derence. Come in... If I'd known I'd be graced by your presence, I'd have ordered in a bottle of your fine Antillian wine." The Admiral brought his legs back, his chair jetting up into an upright position, as he rested his arms on his table. "What can I do for you today?" On his face, as always, was that cocky smirk, and his black beret lay loosely on his silver-haired head.
"I assume you didn't come to have a neighborly chat, as your colony is much better than your mining moon."
Re: The Best House on the Barren Rock(Marquis)
"We always strive to provide the best accomodation for federation soldiers. It just so happened the best for federation soldiers seems to have been on Callisto. I do hope the moon hasn't been too harsh on you." Derence replied, hardly pretending to be friendly with Marquis. There was little point. The hostilities between the two were open to them if mostly hidden to the public.
"As you know, being the highest ranking Federation soldier in arm's reach means you the one to go to for negotiations. First of all, there's still the matter of the raw materials you want us to supply the federation with. Though I'm certain you'd perfer leaving it to the actual diplomats to decide on this matter, I feel it would be best for both of us if you were to be a part of the decision making process."
"Second of all... Idolo. You know my stance on the subject. I would hope the federation has changed its mind now on the matter of Idolo after ELF's gracious funding of its projects."
Not that you gave us much choice. Derence added in his mind, maintaning a visage of civility to Marquis.

"... Idolo is currently at Pluto, engaged in a standoff with a DC ship that has broken the treaty. This is not a time to be bickering about your precious Frame." Marquis slowly stood up from his chair, sighing as he readjusted his beret. "There's something attacking colonies in Pluto. As the largest fleet in the Jupiter-Uranus area, larger than your own, I think you shouldn't be greedy to your guests, who may just have to protect you against whatever's attacking." Harsh.
Re: The Best House on the Barren Rock(Marquis)
"Hmph. The federation has caused more damage to the colonies than they've prevented. Or do you try and forget the events before the formation of ELF as well as the formal ejection and replacement of the federation troops in the colonies?" Derence commented, shrugging off comments made by Marquis.
"The Pluto situation is new to me. None the less, I still wish to have Idolo back from the federation. Not now, no. It would take too long to train a new pilot for Idolo. Can't exactly replace Idolo mid-combat. None the less I desire the return of Idolo to its rightful creators." Derence finally took a seat as he watched Marquis.
"Be negotiable. You know how tense relations have been... and I know well there's been some misunderstandings between the Federation and the DC. I wouldn't run off to help them... no. That would be petty and self destructive. But none the less..."

"That reminds me, by the way, that lately some funds of your's have been heading to a 'Charity'... at the same time, it would appear that some anti-BAHRAM groups are getting some finer equipment. I'd hate for the current Prime Minister to find out about your questionable 'donations', which file under a break in the treaty... meaning that they'd be allowed to attack you, and the Federation and GATA would not get themselves involved in it," he said, frowning a bit. "Though, the DC has an alliance with BAHRAM.. so they'd join the ensuing fight on their side. Though we replaced the government, they're still the same..."
Re: The Best House on the Barren Rock(Marquis)
"Pawn takes bishop." Derence murmured, a bemused smirk on his face, "You assume we're involved in that. Some of our funds have gone to people we believe who hold colonist interests close to their heart... yes. If they would fund such Anti-BAHRAM forces... well, we gave them the money and assumed it would be on the tax report. Such an abuse of trust is a sad thing, but hardly one we would legally be held responsible for."
"Very well, Marquis. Idolo stays under Federation control for another year. Just don't get the thing destroyed." Derence commented as he got up, turning around and walking out of the room.
