The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
Dully toying around with the pen Max had in his hands while a woman's voice spoke sweetly, his mother replying to a few questions a male journalist was asking her. The Chadstone's were donating a total sum of $70,000 to the shopping mall so it can improve different sections or set up new shops, none of the Chadstone's really cared what happened with it, just the publicity that came from the unexpected donation.
A table had been set up in a section of the food court, the usual Saturday rush of shoppers and fun goers meant the popular mall was packed. It had been ten minutes since they had been guided to the table to sit down, slowly Max's time frame of being able to sit still was being grinded down, something his friend Lara noticed easily since she was sitting in the crowd with his friends. Watching his usual symptoms of restless anxiety start to show, Lara inwardly sighed, knowing fully well if he started to fidget he would get in trouble and that means that she'd not be able to go spend the after noon with him because he'd sulk over it or be taken back to his estate with his parents.
The handsome gentlemen beside Max, his father, gave a pleasant laugh at a comment anther woman made asking why they donated the money and if the mall was going through financial problems they're aware off. Steven Chastone placed his hand on the fiddling hand of his son's as Max was gently tapping the pen's tip into a note pad while he replied that they were just supporting their local town shopping mall in order for it to provide a better service or more entertainment facilities, what ever they desire in order for the people to enjoy themselves even more. Meanwhile as he spoke the subtle hint for Max to stop tapping his pen masked in the affectionate gesture of appearing to 'gently' be keeping his hand over Max's.
Instead there was a slightly painful squeeze of his father’s hand that released the pressure long enough for the pen to tumble from Max's grasp before holding it tightly again. With a glance at their holding hands Mrs. Chadstone offered a sweet smile and run her fingers through the side of Max's hair, running her tips at the back of his head tenderly as she spoke with another person. If Max was in any discomfort he hid it well, because if he did jerk at any of their demands for him to settle down which usually consisted of him getting pinched, poked, prodded or grasped in some way, then he'd be in more trouble then he dared to even imagine.
There was a bright smile on Max's face, the perfectly trained smile that shone enough to be noticed but not enough for someone to think it was fake. He moved his right hand to rest over the hand of his fathers to continue the illusion that his family played so amazingly well it was hard to imagine just how twisted the faces behind their masks really were.
How many boring questions about a stupid donation can these people ask? Of course Max had stopped paying attention a while ago so he had no idea it had shifted onto more personal matters until one of the women mentioned his name. A comment about something his father had mentioned earlier in the week, apparently he had said Max attended some charity event and had a mysterious date that the reporter wanted to know more about. Asking if this date was important to him in any way, only problem being Max had no clue what she was on about, faking a shy little smile that faded slightly as she mentioned it was Monday night.
Sometimes his parents made up lies about his activities, as far as Max was concerned he had better things to do then work on increasing their social popularity, his parents were already exposed enough, obviously they didn't agree. But that night he had been with the contrasting mutant.. it was the first time he was trying to pleasure a guy, at first Max was too excited about experiencing all the new sensations again so it had been Matt mostly in control. A slightly thoughtful look crossed Max's features as he remembered how long they had been together that night, all the different things they had done, the things he had done, that had been done to him, that they did together.. The newly turned bisexual (who was currently under the impression he was simply gay, not something he was overly joyful about still but was trying to ignore any of the worries he had) had been torn over the fact the rest of the week had been previously booked with other activities.
A glimpse of the other mutants was seen in a place or two, walking around with Garnet in the hall, but never alone, never somewhere that Max could corner him in private. Convinced that he preferred only guys to women Max ignored all his female dates and so he was anxious over the lack of physical contact, something he was far too used to having when ever he wanted.
"Excuse me, Max?" The slightly older woman called him again and his father knocked his son's knee lightly with his own, something none of the others would see since the table clothe draped over the desk and down to the floor.
"We're not really a couple, just acquaintances." The attractive teenager replied with a hint of truthfulness as he kept his thoughts on Matt for a little longer before remember his parent's presence and hastily threw them aside. He looked a little blank when she asked what exactly the event was for, his parents looked at him in the proud, pleasant way that revealed only to Max they wanted him to lie about where he went, if they had already said something they'd usually blurt it out right away so they didn't have different stories.
"It was.." Another pause, his body tensed slightly, mostly unnoticed by those watching him as he threw the woman an 'I enjoyed myself smile', "It wasn't really big, just a small selected group, they wanted to express equality amongst people." A pause where he nervously knew he was about to get himself into serious trouble, but he did it with out releasing his mask, still keeping his smile and a proud tone of voice. "That no matter who you are, your race, gender, beliefs.. sexual preferences and whatever else make's us different on the surface doesn't change the fact we're all the same underneath." Because he was the same as he had been before he became gay, so that had to be true right? What all those boring speeches you hear around the place always say about human rights and the right to be equal, well.. he wanted to believe all that crap was true now..
Both elder Chadstone's quietly smiled at him still, his father eventually standing up - a sign for the other two to stand as well - and informed the gathered people they had other things to attend to. It wasn't long till Max realized that his father was just too angry at the stunt he pulled to continue enjoying the 'fans' and reporters. Everyone continued on their shopping or eating or chatting with friends… something Max wanted to do, just sneak away before he gets the blunt of his parent’s outrage since they passionately hated when things didn’t go exactly how they like it. With a strong grip of Max’s arm, his father pulled Max a little closer to him, similar blue eyes staring right into Max’s own just with an angry twisted expression.
"Just what the hell was that huh?" The slight grey tint to the sides of Mr. Chadstone's hair added a certain gentlemen's quality to the older man who was in his late forties, a fine looker himself even now still being the ladies man he was in his youth. "What are you trying to do? Persuade humans into thinking they are equal to us? Diseased faggots - equal to us?" Max looked away as his father whispered harshly to him, not the kind of person who wanted people to know he was against such things but not wanting them to think he supported it either, Max wished for once that his dad didn’t speak like that about gay’s, it never really bothered him but now he was one and he wasn’t diseased so he’d prefer his dad not acting as if he was.
There was a threatening motion of his mother’s hand a finger snapped up and she whispered just as angrily that he ought to look his father in the eyes when being spoken to. But they couldn't understand how much they were hurting him, Max suddenly felt so ashamed and dirty all over again, that urge after the first time he had slept with Matt, to run to his room and simply have his tears drowned in music so no one would ever hear his pain.
A swelling of tears threatening to form in the sapphire orbs would easily hint to his parents that he was particularly sensitive about them ganging up on him right now. But he tried to hide it by keeping his eyes averted, it didn't help since his father’s hand furiously gripped onto Max's jaw and forced his son to look at him. The humiliated way Max turned his head away and tried to move back without actually daring to take a step away from him hinted something indeed was bothering him greatly and it only added to his fathers suspicions of how Max has been acting over the past week.
There was movement nearby that was noticed without Mr. Chadstone seeing who was there, instantly withdrawing back into the facade of the loving family, patting Max's cheek endearingly with a laugh that rang up as if some joke had been said. The youngest of the family didn't look at all as if anything humorous had been said and rather wished to withdraw into the deepest darkest corners and for the first time in years willingly be consumed by shadows, but the stern look his mother gave him caused Max to stare down at the ground, wondering if he just turned into a stone statue they might overlook him and walk off…
Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
”Wait, this would shop number five… how many clothes do you actually need?”
The voice that sounded from behind a pile of shopping bags wasn’t actually annoyed but rather surprised, a little shocked maybe and tiredness was included as well.
”In fact that’s number five of mine… you dragged me in seven ones earlier, remember? And contrary to you, I didn’t buy around ten items per location… PLUS your stores were scattered around the town,”
came the reply from another pile as the two entered a middle class clothes shop. Matt sounded as if enjoying the evilness of his doings and was thus, without knowing, paying Aurora back for what she had innocently been doing to others for years. However, his tiny budget was ridiculous compared to what the heiress of the Ferelle empire could spend without even really noticing the numbers at her statement of account changing.
Quite some months had passed since the contrasting mutant had had his last shopping rush and running about gathering shirts and pants, he noticed how much he unknowingly had missed that and was glad to have found a related soul in Aurora. They had already spent hours in Salem Center and since they both still felt there was at least one item of importance missing, there certainly would be another few hours ahead. The actual reason aside, it was just fun to look around the shops with a friend, mocking about things that so obviously contradicted the good taste it appeared strange nobody had died laughing at it.
For obvious reasons, their taste in clothing varied strongly but that was not the only reason why Garnet and Matt never bought something in the same store. While the black-haired young man was fully content with casual fashion – mostly black and in the case of shirts rather tight than loose -, Aurora, who already owned two walkable wardrobes, was in search of things special. Money didn’t matter and so she preferred entering small but exclusive shops whose items were one-of-a-kind. After all, there were only a few things that topped the horrors of seeing someone wearing the same outfit she had put on and if this person happened to be Anna, Garnet wasn’t sure she would survive the humiliation.
Frostbite! No matter what Max had said to defend himself, she couldn’t believe he had been hooking on her while he was dating her, Aurora. And to say he hadn’t known they were a couple was just ridiculous; after all, they had spent the night together more than just once, had been hanging out and kissing… how could he say such a thing? It was still painful to think about him but slowly, the fiery mutant came to realize that in his twisted way, he had not wanted to hurt her… that they had not been together because she had not asked or stated it openly but then again, those were the 2020s! Even 30 years ago no one would have expected such a thing to be asked; it was one of the unforgivable question and although Circe’s fury had almost disappeared fully by then, she couldn’t understand how he could expect such a thing from her.
She had discussed the matter with Matthias repeatedly for hours, a fact that made her feel slightly guilty hoping she wasn’t boring him, but they hadn’t find any sufficient answer. Their spontaneous act of vengeance, however, seemed to be quite successful, although Max’s reaction was one none of the two had actually expected.
Fully honest towards her in any other way except for his past as Divine, the contrasting mutant had not told her about the night he had spent with Max. He had made a promise and although there were only a few things he never considered doing, breaking such a vow was one of them as long as there was no serious reason or he had been forced to give his word. In a way, the stone-shifting mutant had threatened him but what had followed spoke its own language and had sealed Matt’s lips.
There was nothing that really caught the part-time goth’s interest and so they left again, wandering the rather crowded Shopping Mecca in which some event seemed to have taken place by the looks of it. Although her family was as influential as the Chadstones, none of the present reporters recognized Aurora since her father had always made sure to keep his family out of the public eye. His PR strategy was rather focused on their products than on him as a person whereas his wife, a famous fashion designer whose collections her daughter wore as well, actually was shown on TV and in magazines pretty often. However, she as well didn’t increase the fame of her brand by employing the Chadstones means. They did donate money rather regularly but never allowed interviews in course of it; in fact with the donation, the people receiving it agreed not to make a fuss about it. So when invited, the Ferelle’s were only one of a few wealthy and high-ranking families and didn’t cause a thunderstorm of flashlights – something especially Aurora’s father would have detested anyway.
”Ah, hi Max!”
Matt’s cheerfully happy-go-lucky kind of voice let the material girl lower her bags so she could have a look at the three people at their left. It was obvious those two were Max’s parents as loving and affectionate they seemed towards him. Her friend’s reaction to see her ex-boyfriend (which Max was as far as she was concerned anyway) caused only a short rush of anger before she remembered what the past days had brought. With an inner sigh, Aurora generously decided not to hold a grudge and try to accept this totally bizarre attitude of Max’s while seeing their secret little revenge as deserved and executed punishment. Matt liked the womanizer? She nodded a hi at him.
Well, it was his choice! And she would so not glare at either of them.
With her mind set, Circe gracefully put her shopping bags to the ground and stretched out a delicate hand with perfectly manicured fingernails to greet Max’s parents. ”Nice to meet you, I am Aurora Garnet Ferelle,”
she said politely without further thinking. She had been raised and educated to always say her name when introducing herself. It was a matter of good manners, yet she didn’t mind Matt not doing the same.
The contrasting mutant on the other side was reluctant to introduce himself, worried that anyone would know and connect it with his past. Throughout the past months, Matt had realized that there were several things he had done that had been just wrong… and in a way, his new codename was a means of getting some distance between his new old self and the times when he had been Divine. Then again, he wasn’t really sure whether even his former fellow members of the HFC had known his real name.
Not as overly polite as his friend, the black-haired young man simply directed a “Hello,” at Max’s parents and put the bags done to stand between his legs so he wouldn’t appear as if wanting to run off. Mat hated small-talk… but not showing that openly was something that he thought shouldn’t be displayed openly when talking to people much older than he was.

Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center"Ah, hi Max!"
Steven Chadstone eyed the black haired boy rather critically, though kept his fake charming smile that seemed to utterly perfect it was near impossible to see Mr. Chadstone's slight dislike for the boy's attire and appearance. Max couldn't be seen with anyone less then perfectly presentable, Max himself had gotten used to the different style Matt dressed, but more importantly focused more on Matt being undressed.
The very thought of that was terrifying around his father, Max's face had gone faintly pale as he stared stunned at the two arrivals. Wasn't he in enough trouble as it was, did they really have to come and screw him over even more? Every moment either of the two made Max's eyes seemed to snap over to in an alert, near panic, glance.
"Nice to meet you, I am Aurora Garnet Ferelle,"
The name rang an all too familiar bell, Mr. Chadstone rose a curious eyebrow at the comment, giving Garnet yet another one of his critical glances, though more admiring then judging the attractive young lady. Max's mother stood quietly now between Max and Steven, eyeing the two and already disapproving Max keeping company such as the young man. Garnet however was a different matter, both his parents had been furious he stuffed up something as important as his relationship with Garnet. The influence their family could gain from a joined allience with the Ferelle's was mouth watering for the elder couple and it had felt like a multi-million dollar transaction gone sour when their son messed it all up.
There was merely a glance towards Matt, their polite smiles remaining yet no words told Max that he'd get an earful later about knowing someone of such pale tone and long hair, obviously not connected with anyone of importance if he looked like that. Needless to say, the Chadstone's tended to take things for face value. Max's eyes narrowed slightly as Matt spoke, even if it was merely a single word, if his father found out what Matt was then he'd make a scene and start saying the most horrible of things..
"Ah yes, Miss Ferelle, we've spoken before, on the phone a short while back." The smoothly spoken words and charming expression didn't reflect the uproar Max had gotten after she hung up on him. Not to mention with the team missions taking place Max had missed the dinner event he promised to attend. There was an odd jealous feeling for a moment when his father took Garnet's hand, it wouldn't be the first time one of Max's current or ex girlfriends have slept with the older man in hopes of getting an even greater deal in the Chadstone's fame and fortune.
"Well, great to see you, bye now." Max appeared a little uneasy, but both parents where far to focused on Garnet to bother noticing, though his father silenced him by simply saying his name to show that they wouldn't tolerate that attitued. The bully's mother looked across at him a bit impatient with his rude behaviour, but politely excused herself from the group saying she had another appointment. That was good, the quicker they leave the less chance of his father smelling 'gayness' radiating from Matt.
"Oh, right, you're things.. are you going to go to your thing dad?" All Max knew was that his parents had different dates now, it wasn't unusual, but his parents were sometimes a little touchy about what he called them.. dates, business lunches, they were promiscuous outings no matter what name you gave them.
"Max.. I have the uncanny feeling you're trying to get rid of me," There was a teasing smile, handsome even though he still seemed to have a slightly serious look about him. "But actually I'm meeting my business partner here, I should thoroughly enjoy to spend some time with the lovely Miss Ferelle I have heard so much about.. and her friend of course." The pout Max gave wasn't even attempted to be hidden as the elder man motioned Garnet towards the direction of the restaraunt he was meeting his female companion. "Please, come join me, Max be a gentlemen would you." A glare was shot towards Garnet as his father placed a hand on her back and silently insisted they sit down together.
Scooping up Garnet's bags, the bright eyes of the young man looked over at Matt as they walked, Max's heart thumping hard inside his chest, especially when his eyes seemed to drop down to the crouch of the contrasting mutants trousers before snapping away in paranoia of being caught by his father. Petrified and still lustful for physical contact, can he be any more pathetic?
"Would you care for something to eat, or just a drink perhaps?" When His father posed the question a spark of hope ignited that Garnet would excuse her way out of the sit down and chat session. Maybe Max could glare at them both until they got the hint and juss piss off and leaved him alone. He wasn't good with keeping secrets from his parents, especially his father, having Matt so close to the older man was far too dangerous, and deep down Max was really scared of how his father might act towards Max's bed partner.
His glares ended up being rather dazed expressions, too stunned and concerned to be able to think of anything further to say and to timid to demand they just get lost while his father was here being all endearing towards Aurora.
Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
Although the façade was as perfect as can be, Matthias was reluctant to take the charming friendliness the Chadstones radiated all too openly as real. The major part of him saw not the slightest reason not to believe they were delighted to see those two friends of their son, as that was what they would certainly believe, but once again, there was this little, smart-talking voice inside of him that had been wrong so rarely. Well, whatever the case, Matt was used to be looked oddly at, to be judged by first sight. Weirdo, Satanist – you name it, he had been called like that and the times he would care about it had long passed. Or so he thought anyway and since Steven Chadstone didn’t say anything by those lines, there was no way of finding out whether it was the truth.
Garnet on the other side felt positively surprised by the older man’s flawless behavior and if there was a sign of any immoral offer or anything other than polite interest in the subtext of his words or actions, the fiery mutant missed it out as completely as anything Matt thought to sense. A blush pinkened her elfish features slightly as he mentioned her call back at the Exiles’ meeting, yet it was too light to be mistaken for actual regret or embarrassment.
”Yes, I believe we… or rather I have spoken to you earlier, sir. My apologies but it was this an event of importance which I was responsible for. I trust you can understand my priorities in this case,”
she said as charming as Steven himself. To Matt, it seemed like a battle fought on a plane hovering far above him. He actually was able to talk like that but contrary to Aurora, he always felt either ridiculous or uberintellectual doing it while it was obvious this way of speaking was part of her nature and she just attempted to explain her reasons.
With Steven’s charisma letting everyone else appear pale and uninteresting, they did barely notice Max’s mother leaving and although the black-haired contrasting mutant felt slightly uneasy around him, he didn’t even consider not following the invitation as didn’t Aurora. ”Thank you, I would love to,”
was her reply, as neatly put as ever while Matt’s consisted of a surprised and simple ”Yes, very generous of you, thanks,”
Max’s glances neither of them noticed as the followed Mr Chadstone to the restaurant. Matthias wasn’t at all surprised – however – to see Garnet was the one that had the older man’s full attention, still he didn’t mind the slightest. The more he focused on her, the less he could look at him and maybe find something he absolutely disliked. Maybe later there would be a chance for him to show he actually had manners and could do some small-talk as this kind of people surely expected.
For him, it was a strange situation. Matt had always felt a little uncomfortable around the upper class with Garnet being the only exception until he had… got to know Max. He constantly felt the urge to make it up to them, to show them that just because he had not started off with several hundreds of dollars as pocket money and his family had always lived in a flat rather than a house, he was not worth less than them, that he was equal. With his self-esteem damaged so heavily - only repaired scantily, it was even harder. And so he watched his own moves, walked with his head held high, but not so high it would seem arrogant.
To avoid staring either at his feet, an imaginary spot in front of him or the others, Matt’s gaze wandered about, occasionally meeting Max’s, yet distracted by “behaving correctly”, he failed to notice the message the stone-shifting mutant tried to put in his stare. For a moment, he wondered whether he should say something but since Garnet didn’t drop any further word about the invitation – for people of their budget, it actually was nothing worth mentioning – while spending her time courteously talking with Mr Chadstone about matters of no real importance as their family businesses and other incredibly dull things (as far as Matt was concerned anyway), he decided to remain silent.
He could have talked to Max… but about what? He basically knew nothing about the womanizer… but at the same time more than most of the other people at Xavier’s, maybe even more than everybody else including the youngest Chadstone himself. Still, talking about this one subject was positively impossible… and so he said nothing but smiled as their eyes met in a way that was almost impossible to be mistaken for something more than just one friend greeting the other, for something intimate. Almost.
(OOC: err… wasn’t sure what to put here so a lot of blahblah I just assumed Garny and Steve would be talking about stuff like that… hope it’s ok)

Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
ooc: That's just perfect, I didn't think you'd have much to reply to, but at the same time I didn't want to do too much without at least giving you a chance to reply!
The silence on Max's part was rather welcomed from his father while he talked with the attractive young lady, business talk more then bored Max but that wasn't the reason he had gone silent. Starting to completely ignore Matt, Max decided to try something else to distract his dad from noticing the uneasiness Max was feeling. Rightm now he has that planned out.. he stared rather blankly at the table, how does he distract his dad? A fine white Wine had been served out, usually red was a saved for later when it came to the Chadstone household.. later when things were becoming more intimate. Mainly because his father had always stronger red wines, and white ones where usually sweeter, champaigne was only used at romantic dinners and there were a few others rules for different types of drinks that were more out of habit with them then strict rules.
Mr.Chadstone was taking delight in hearing all about the things that Garnet had to talk about, anything that was a possible insight into the Ferelle's views on things was more then a delightful treat for the older man. The topic changed when Max placed his elbow on the table in a show of bordem and was resting chin on the palm of his hand while he picked up a nut from the dish that had been served along with the drinks. There was a pause in mid-sentance as Steven glanced at his son and didn't start speaking again until Max had straightened his posture and dropped his hands on his lap in a grumpy fashion.
"Perhaps a change of topic onto something that shall keep my son's interest, though I most certainly enjoyed this chance to talk, he's not as bright when it comes to things of the business world." Even though some might not exactly like hearing a statement like that, Max didn't even bat an eye-lid. After all, it was true, he hated talking about work and he hated work in general, bosses were too bossy and people were always so upthemselves it was infuriating.
"Oh, Max, can you see if they have those olives you had me try at Dantello's? Peculiar taste, but it grew on me somewhat." Since his father was keeping an eye out for his lunch date he was sitting with his back to the counterr so that he could see the when she arrived, Max glanced over to it, it wasn't too far, surely nothing too much could be said that could get him into serious trouble.
"Sure, did you want anything else?" With a 'No thank you' in reply Max grinned and got up, glade to be able to leave and yet casting a rather paranoid look as he walked away, at least he could still hear what was being said.
"Max told me so much about you, never mentioned how sharp your mind was, a pleasant surprise might I add." Taking a sip from his glass as his ever so charming smile remained glued happily to his lips, not even noticing Max talking his way behind the counter when the girl shook her head after he asked for what his dad ordered. If there was one thing Max did as best he could it was try to impress his father as much as possible, and working at a hotel (if you can call what Max had done there that) he felt pretty confident he could shove a nut into a olive.. he'd seen the people at Dantello's do it often enough when he's at the bar or in the back room.
The olives where just normal jared olives with nuts instead of the other stuff, so Max talked with the girl quietly and after she let him have some spare sanatation gloves, pointed to different nuts until he found the ones they used at Dantello's. Quickly unstuffing the stuffed olives they had and replaced them with the nuts, basically bouncing back to the table with pleased steps as he placed the dish of eight specialy restuffed olives on the table.
"If you don't mind me saying, you truly seem to be taking your job quite seriously, I haven't ever talked with a tutor who seems so passionate about the focus of her students, it's indeed yet another pleasant attribute of your personality." Max's father was still under the impression Max was just getting tutored by Garnet, he felt half ashamed that his son was at a school filling his sons head with obsurd notions such as equal rights amongst humans and those who are different. To find out Max was actually on a team would force his father to remove Max from there all together, Steven was already searching for information on some other place he could place his son. But Max didn't want to leave, and he knew telling his father he was on a team would make Steven pull Max out and keep him at the family estate in concern that they are brainwashing him.
"Yeah," The nervous body language Max had while still standing behind his chair was missed by his father, Mr.Chadstone had already picked up on the panicked behaviour of his son since the start of the week, he knew something was wrong, he just couldn't put his finger on what was making Max so jumpy. His mtoher thinks he's on drugs, Steven know's that absurd, he doesn't think Max is smart enough to handle drugs and not be dead.
"I uh, I told dad all about how I was exiled to your study group." Ok.. blunt hint and slight exageration on exiled, let's see if they could pick that up. Sitting down uneasily, trying to calm himself down because getting all worked up wasn't helping, he was just digging himself into a hole. He couldn't help it though, everytime he tries to hide something from his parents they find out, and then he gets punished, and even if he deserved to be punished he still didn't like it.
"Call it what you will, personally I think it's wonderful they finally did something, hopefully curb that reckless behaviour of yours and stop you from galavanting around the countryside and getting unneeded attention for becoming involved in god knows what." Still won't let Max's involvement with the Initiative drop, now the stone-shifting mutant was really starting to feel as if he had done something wrong back then when he chased Riley's alter-ego, Marc Lucas, down to the caves in the mountains and ended up getting captured by those strange soldiers.
It occured to Max just then that so far his father wasn't really speaking directly to Matt, just offering the bi-sexual (though Max was under the impression he was only gay) a few friendly glances to keep the illusion that the older man actually cared that the boy was sitting at their table. This lightened Max's mood slightly, all he had to worry about was keeping Garnet off any mention of exiles.. that ought to be easy!
"I have no further desire to do anything of the sort." Max replied as he took a sip from his drink, mimicking their uppclass way os speaking with a sly little curve of a smile, there was obviously some sort of private joke they shared since his dad chuckled as he remembered who Max was mimicking.
"Seriously though dad, you should have seen her when she came onto the room, 'she was like a fiery goddess and all' I don't know if there actually is one, but if there isn't, then she so would be it." If there was one thing that his father respected and adored, it was mutants with powerful gifts, and when Mac talked about Garnet the elder womanizer couldn't help but admire her greatly. "It was like an inferno of flames just engulfing everything, and then there she was," There was his trade mark smile.. Max usually smiled like that just before or after he's seduced Garnet, he didn't do it with everyone, and he only smiled like that just before leaving Contrast's room the last time he was with Matt, just a little weaker though.
"I swear, the single most spectacular thing ever, I felt trapped somewhere between heaven and hell, able to see something so amazing and yet a barrier keeping us apart." He couldn't believe she was so upset with him, they had been so great together, everything felt so amazing and exciting and new. He'd never had sex with someone so dangerous before.. she's killed other humans, no one seems to even mention this, it's like no one cares, Max didn't realize but deep down that did disturb him slightly, he wouldn't be sure why though. If she wanted to date him then she ought to have said so, he doesn't like asking since he's heard about some bad relationships where the girl says yes when guys ask and then realize they'd prefer someone else.
"Well by the sounds of it Max, you were safer behind the barrier," Although The elder Chadstone smiled, there was something a little dry with how he said his words, Max himself had a flirtasious and admiring way with the words he was choosing to use and the smiles he had lighting up his features. "But I must admit now that I'm curious, I've heard so much of Max's thoughts towards you, mind me asking what your thoughts are of my son? Nosey I know, but for the life of me I cannot imagine how he lost such a marvelous and attractive speciman as yourself. Be honest now." First of all, the flattery, Max didn't like that, he still had a thing for Garnet even if he was gay, might not be a thing he had with her before, but it was a thing that still meant there was no way in hell he would sit back and let his dad butter Garnet up.. Alright that was a white lie, he wouldn't intrude, he'd gotten in serious trouble last time he got upset with his dad taking one of his girlfriends, Max just had to trust Garnet wouldn't go for it. Mostly his dad said he only does things like that to weed out the backstabbers, after all, if a girl would go for him than how could Max possibly trust her? Sadly most of the time that worked with Max.
Secondly, he didn't like the direction this topic was going, he had all morning listening to his mother complaining about every single aspect of Max that she didn't like or think he ought to improve on. Garnet was angry with him, there was no way she would say nice things, and his dad would love to hear it anyway, it just meant more chance of catching another attractive ex of Max's.
Max picked up one of the olives he made for his dad who hadn't even acknoledged where there yet, he tended to not eat when speaking though so Max wasn't appearing at all upset over what seemed to be wasted effort.
Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center*Yeah, isn’t she just perfect?*
Inwardly rolling his eyes, Matt silently endured the praise his friend was showered with, wondering why it annoyed him as much as it did. Garnet was overly beautiful, strong and intelligent, they spoke nothing but the truth… yet a truth that normally was not voiced in such an excessive way and the occasional glances he got from the older Chadstone didn’t make it easier to ignore. ‘Look,’ they seemed so say ‘look what she’s got. And who are you anyway?!’
That Max joined into the glorifying laudation wasn’t helping either. For some reason, he didn’t want his father to know he was on a team and since Aurora had considerately avoided commenting on the ‘study group’s’ true nature, the change of topic he induced was all too perfect a chance to get as far away from the subject as possible. Matt was jealous of the attention she got, especially Max’s interest was just disturbing, and hated himself for it. He had told the bully-by-reputation that it was to be nothing more than a hot night himself so why was he upset about Max acting as the contrasting mutant had wanted him to?
Maybe the answer was once again to be found in his past; maybe it was just because Divine would have had the admiration of them as far as power was concerned. Angrily, Matt pushed away those thoughts and since listening to intently to what was being said, he resorted to watching his surroundings. Observing people who didn’t expect to be looked at closely was a fun pastime, especially when they were interacting, making funny gestures while talking or just staring absent-mindedly with the oddest expressions. Since this was restaurant and thus people stayed rather long, it soon became quite boring though. There is only a limited amount of personal oddities a person has to offer and it wasn’t the time of the day when this place was actually crowded so there would be enough objects of interest sitting around talking and eating.
Some he didn’t want to have a closer look at anyway, like the more than just corpulent couple of around 40 or 50 (with a certain amount of body mass, estimating ages becomes quite difficult) that sat right opposite to him at the other end of the room. The way they were eating was – nicely put – revolting and as he saw himself confronted with the choice between having his eyes fixed on them (for it was really difficult to keep one’s eyes averted upon such repulsiveness) and following the conversation, he surrendered into the second option.
”…how he lost such a marvelous and attractive specimen as yourself…”
Well, apparently he hadn’t missed a lot, they still seemed to be at the same topic: Garnet’s perfection part 2, now on sale! Matt could almost see the flamboyant advert with Aurora flashing her blinding smile and Max staring at it drooling like the complete idiot he was. *Ooookay dude, take a chill pill, you’re not dating that guy, you’re not dating that guy,…*
No, he wasn’t. Yet a little more attention would have been nice for a change, right? Rolling his eyes to himself as he caught his mind occupied with such thoughts, Matthias decided to distract himself with being curious about the fiery mutant’s reply. He did know the truth but didn’t really expect of her to tell it right to his father’s face; she was just too polite for that.
Meanwhile, Aurora had similar thoughts. Although keeping up her smiling façade, she couldn’t help but wondering for how long they intended to keep on flattering her. The question was a nice change – in a way – yet it also confronted her with the difficult choice between the truth… and what loyalty towards those of her age demanded. No matter how she was feeling about what Max had done, just around half an hour ago, she had decided to not hold a grudge against him, so wasn’t this the perfect opportunity to show her good will by not telling his father that he had cheated on her with the lame excuse that she hadn’t officially stated that they were dating?
The mere thought of it threatened to infuriate the Exiles’ leader again but with some effort, she somehow managed to get rid of the feeling. *It is past and gone!* she told herself repeatedly and for then, it seemed to work.
Her full lips curved in a charming manner and with a voice that let it appear as if Max had not done any wrong, she replied with a hint of irony.
”You appear to be quite interested in your son’s relationships. Well, let me put it this way: We realized there were insuperable disparities regarding essential matters. We just did not match,”
That wasn’t actually a lie, in fact it was almost the full truth, but nicely put and said in a way that was unlikely to discredit Max. Contrary to what the Chadstones might have been led into thinking, Contrast registered with satisfaction that Aurora seemed not at all to like the direction this conversation had been going all the way. It kept the jealousy quiet without him having to put much effort into its suppression and made his role as the quiet listener much easier to bear.
(OOC: Damn, she’s far too nice, that gal! Anyways, sorry for giving you so little to reply to -_-)

Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center"You appear to be quite interested in your son’s relationships. Well, let me put it this way: We realized there were insuperable disparities regarding essential matters. We just did not match,"
The look Max was giving her was hard to make out for anything other than a blank stare, he was rather hurt by the comment, he thought they got on just fine, everything had clicked in his opinion except the single misunderstanding that lead to so many problems. Max still didn't understand why she was making such a big deal about it, he understood she thought of him as a boyfriend now, he couldn't be blamed for not knowing for sure, she hadn't actually told him, so now she had told him why couldn't they get back together? Well.. he was gay now wasn't he, so thinking that wasn't really helpful right now. His eyes turned towards Max discreetly while he thought on that, it would be easier to sneak off with Max then with Garnet, since they were both guys they could get into the male toilets and..
"Why don't we give Garnet some time to enjoy her drink, tell me about your male friend, you two study partners or some such?" The comment started off good, at least Garnet wasn't going to say any of her weak excuses on why they couldn't see each other any more. Max had been taking a sip from his own drink as his father finished the sentence and the newly discovered bi-sexual ended up choking quite hard on the sweet golden liquid.
"That is quite unappealing Max." Was his father's only sign of acknowledging what was happening to Max who was still coughing with his hand now covering his mouth and his eyes watering slightly from the burning pain in his throat where the wine had gone down the wrong way. Sometimes when Max was much younger and he really hated the taste of whatever drink his parents were making him have he'd usually spit or coughs it up and his negligent parents still continued to assume that's what he did when he near-choked on something.
Max seemed to zone out as his mind instantly wandered off to picture things his father has talked about in the past regarding 'dealing' with diseased rodents. His dad picked up on of the olives Max had stuffed and busied himself with nibbling on them, Max awkwardly stared around the room. The ringing of his fathers phone caused Steven to excuse himself as he got up and stepped slightly away from the table for some privacy. Max looked all the more anxious as he glanced over at his dad and then threw a rather nasty look towards the both of them still sitting at the table.
It was obvious Max was going to say something but his dad sat back down an instant later and forced the younger Chadstone to remain silent. Mentioning something about his lunch partner being on her way, Max's father made a passing comment to his son about the woman being a very attractive lady, but Max seemed more content in glaring off towards the wall.
"Now where were we, ah, right," The older man cast a charming smile towards Matt, throwing a glance at Max as he stood up anxiously, "Is everything alright?" The curious look his dad gave was replied with a nervous glance shot towards Garnet and then back towards his father who was slowly becoming irritated by Max's odd behaviour for the last week or so.
"Yeah, sorry, I uh, Garnet is here, and I.. and there was something I wanted to say, so I thought I'll say something now, before I leave, to her - in private - is that ok?" The expression his gave made stated that he didn't mind, and Steven merely gave Garnet an amused smile before looking back towards Matt and seemed to wait for a reply to a question he hadn't even asked. But he asked Max before his son choked, so he was waiting for Matt to finish explaining how he knew the youngest son of Steven Chadstone.
Max moved away from the table but didn't turn his back to his dad and kept staring at Matt for long moments before glancing at his dad and then back towards Matt. Garnet could get the gay away from his dad, she had to, it was like putting a blowtorch down beside a pool of oil and fireworks and all sorts of other explosive contraptions.
Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
Why was Max’s reaction upon his father’s question not at all surprising him? Maybe because of the simple reason that another solution for why he had been so eager to remain on the topic of Garnet’s greatness was exactly what a part of Matt had been jealous about: the lack of interest in his person. Now that this had changed, he didn’t feel comfortable at all either though, a fact that once again made him realize the circumference of his very personal contradictive weirdness in mind while he tried to think of a plausible reply.
The fit of coughing seemed oddly misplaced in this restaurant where everyone seemed so keen on neglecting their humanity – save for those two ‘large’ people who sort of overdid the opposite – and for a moment, Matthias wondered why Steven wasn’t patting his son’s back to help him instead of making such a condescending and useless comment.
Just as he had decided to take that part, it ended though.
The look he gave them afterwards, however, finally explained to the black-haired mutant why Max was known to be a school bully; if he had not gotten to know him from a totally different side, he might have even felt intimidated by this spiteful glare, yet as things were, a frown was the only reaction the womanizer got, along with a mouthed “what’s wrong?!” before the older Chadstone returned. Contrast had his suspicions as of why the other was acting like he did, yet guessing and knowing always have the wall of certainty between them.
"Yeah, sorry, I uh, Garnet is here,”
The frown and the look Matt gave the handsome boy at the other side of the table clearly expressed the ‘Oh, really?’ he thought in exactly this very moment. With all the fuss going on about her person, those were surprising news, now weren’t they?
”and I.. and there was something I wanted to say, so I thought I'll say something now, before I leave, to her - in private - is that ok?"
*Yeah, have fun… send me a postcard of your honeymoon suite,*
the sarcastic thought that was just so close to being spoken out loud he shrugged off, amazed by the deficit of attention from Max’s side he apparently seemed to suffer from. Yet then again, between first being almost stalked by one of the most popular guys at the school – as far as he knew anyway and his knowledge about Xavier’s was rather limited -, spending one hell of a night with him and then being glared at or ignored there were worlds, so he had every right to feel that way. Right?! Glad he was the only one knowing of his strange thoughts, Matthias watched Garnet getting up and approaching the school bully, her features questioning and mildly confused by the sudden request for privacy.
Steven Chadstone’s demanding gaze distracted the contrasting mutant from those stares Max was giving him and smiling politely, he returned the older man’s looks for a second before remembering there had been some sort of indirect question been put some moments ago. Fortunately, his subconscious had been busy making up a reply as close to the truth as he could dare which made it far easier for him to say it out loud without showing that it was a pure lie.
”I’m tutoring him as well… contemporary literature,”
he said with a nod and added with a serious expression while he actually felt like bursting with laughter ”and French,”
Doublespeak is such a great thing. Acting perfectly normal became an actual struggle for Matt as he pictured himself trying to really teach anyone spoken, or even written French, helplessly stuttering his way from one phrase to the other. It wasn’t that he couldn’t pronounce them, he just kept on forgetting his vocabulary and all those conjugations and tenses… yet as Max would be able to second, he could be quite good when it came to the right topic.
(OOC: sorry for the short post... *stares* ... wait, just a few months ago, I would've been proud of those 663 words. *shakes fist* damn you for messing with my relations!!)

Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
There were two things that Max had to tell Garnet, and even in a whisper the stress and panic was hard to miss, looking utterly mortified with the whole situation even though no one might understand completely why he was getting so scared.
"Get him away from my dad," There was a pause while his eyes remained locked on Matt who began to speak, a shaky breath and he felt like screaming out the next part but managed to keep it a harsh whisper. "Get him away from my dad right now!" Who cares that the two things he had to say were exactly the same, it was important, anyway, Garnet would just blame him if she found out his father discovered Matt was interested in guys and hurt him. Because he would, especially since Max knows Matt, to protect Max from their foul desires, he'd hurt Matt, he'd more then hurt Matt if he was in the mood, someone with Steven's power could make people disappear without any trouble.
Of course Garnet wouldn't understand, she didn't know the horrible things he's been taking pleasure in, she wouldn't even care, but she was his leader, wasn't she supposed to protect him? Of course right now, honestly, Max was more concerned about himself, sure a part of him didn't want to see Matt get hurt, but a larger part was more worried about himself not getting hurt.
"I'm sure you're having fun hogging all of my father's attention, but don't you have your own parents who can suck up to you and the rest of the world about how perfect you are?" A bitterness in his quiet voice and the words he chose would probably hint to the jealousy he felt towards her getting all that great praise from his father. Sometimes Max would try so hard to attempt to please his dad, he'd go to extremes, and yet still, even if he did everything right, they'd just be comments like 'About time you did something right' or similar. On occasions even if Max did really well there would be hours spent on discussing how he should have done this or that ten times better and different ways he ought to improve certain things. It was no wonder he often gave up trying things before even attempting to give them a go.
"Matt keeps looking at me, and ... I haven't had sex for a while so," Again his bright eyes were staring towards the darker haired mutant, his voice returned to being timid and nervous, the mood swings a common thing since the both of them broke up over what Max considered a 'small misunderstanding'. "I mean," The look of paranoia hit him hard as he glanced around and then stared at his hands that were playing with his suit. "It doesn't matter what I mean, he's my dad, you don't want anything to do with me so you aren't allowed to have anything to do with my dad either." It sounded as if he either wanted to start yelling and screaming or burst into tears, most likely both if he got himself worked up to raising his voice. But he was too terrified to be too loud incase his father over heard.
"So leave me and dad alone, and take the faggot with you." Although he had tried to sound angry, the fear was still too strong to be covered by his hateful words, maybe it would have been easier if the gay was someone other then Matt. Like it or not, the pale skinned mutant had become one of Max's new addictions, but still he refused to admit he was gay, maybe to himself in thought, but he hasn't been stupid enough to say it out loud.. petrified his father would somehow manage to hear it. Right now a woman couldn't satisfy him, though back at the table there had been a moment where he wondered what it would be like to be inside a girl again.
Matt was still all too new for Max to cast aside, there was something uncontrollable forcing Max to long desperately for the chance to touch the other male. His mouth felt empty every time he thought about the other now, a longing to hear Matt's reactions as a teacher being pleased by a student, it was nearly overpowering when Max was left alone think about the different things he wanted to try next. Everything was new again, he felt young and inexperienced, it was fun and exciting as well as shameful and humiliating.
Meanwhile Steven seemed slightly surprised by the news of another tutor, his son hadn't mentioned he was taking French, maybe Garnet and the boy worked together? Looking over towards the distance a moment later, a charming smile spread across his lips as he caught sight of the lovely Gwen Frost, dressed in her black attire since it was a formal meeting, though the Black Queen did tend to wear black a lot, that and red, her two favourite dress colours. As always, the deadly beauty was buzzing with life and Mr.Chadstone found himself lost in admiring the enchanting lady as she drew closer towards the shop, half forgetting the two behind where he was sitting who had been whispering to each other.
Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
The first reaction with which Garnet returned the panic-filled command (which was what the request sounded like) was a plain, blank stare. It remained the only one for those few seconds that Max needed to demolish every single positive impression the fiery mutant had recalled in order to treat him nicely. Humiliating her by sleeping around was one thing… insulting and discriminating against her friends a totally different one. Claiming she was intentionally drawing attention onto herself was just what ultimately switched the button.
Never since she had arrived Xavier’s and painfully come to realize she needed to change had she been doing anything for the sake of popularity. Those years had been the first ones in her life when she had actually been herself, without the façade, without the glittering but cruel persona of the adored material girl. And this slimy spoiled little brat dared to talk to her like that?!
Heat, invisible although the air around her became slightly hazy, was suddenly radiated by her whole form, her eyes glowed dangerously like unguarded embers threatening to set whatever was close by alight anytime, yet not strongly enough for anyone but Max to notice. Her whole body language speaking of barely covered hurt pride and indignation about what he had said about Matt, Circe leaned over to him, bringing her mouth at his ear fully aware that if she remained like this for long, the high temperature she emitted would become more than just uncomfortable.
”You so needa get a grip on reality, Max,”
The normally sweet and melodious voice was a hiss containing only a hint at the contempt those words of his in combination with the hardly processed end of their short relationship had triggered. In fact, it sounded cold, detached even as if Max as a person was no one she would bother to talk to if she didn’t feel the responsibility to do so. There was so much she really wanted to say but before she was able to, her self-control had already taken back over again. Before everything else, she was a team leader. His team leader and thus she had to watch her tongue and actions.
It was just then – in retrospective – that Aurora noticed the fearful tone, something that confused her… and made her feel ashamed. ”Sorry,” That was just wrong, she had every right to be angry, to feel hurt but instead, she apologized?! Apparently, it was not Max who needed to get a grip on reality but her. However, once again Garnet came to question her qualities as a leader if she had not even noticed the all too obvious feelings behind the womanizer’s words. She didn’t know exactly what kind of problem he had and her sympathy didn’t go as far as actually caring, but what he had called the black-haired bisexual was a hint. ”Don’t worry, he won’t notice… it’s not like Matt was walking around telling people,”
Forcing the flames of fury that had threatened to combust every second even farther inside, only warm air was left around her when she turned on her heels as if nothing had happened and sat back down while flashing Steven and Contrast a trained, perfect smile that she had worn so often when hiding what was really going on inside of her. Even Matt had not the faintest clue something totally contradicting this gesture had been going on and after an innocently curious glance at Max wondering what they had been discussing, his eyes returned to Mr Chadstone who apparently was distracted.
Grayish-blue gaze wandered towards the entrance in search of the older man’s awaited business partner who Matt suspected to have arrived. As the only one walking and looking ready for a formal meeting, it had to be the elegant women in black who… He froze. Before he got himself back under control, his expression was as petrified as Max’s voice had sounded. It was the Black Queen. The Hellfire Club’s infamous leader. No, she just couldn’t be the one Steven had a meeting with, she just… but why was Gwen Frost the only one walking towards them?
”There is no place among us for those weak and powerless as you are,”
That was what they had said after he had returned from A.Corp. on foot. Mercy? Sympathy? This was the HFC, the crème de la crème of what homo sapiens superior had to offer. Like he had looked down on others, its members had started to look down on him as he had become like those he himself had considered worthless.
There was a small glimpse of hope though. One year had passed, his hair had grown longer and as Divine, he had tended to wear it open for the effect of it so maybe, maybe… *Sweet Goddess, don’t let her recognize me!*
He prayed rarely, a sign for the despair he was feeling. She could destroy what little trust he had built up; Max and his family with their influence and – in the womanizer’s case – popularity, they might even be able to get the Institute to kick him out. Anxious as he was, Matt failed to realize that doing business with Gwen Frost should have shown clearly enough that Steven was not what he pretended to be…

Re: The Chadstone Masqurade - Social outing at Salem Center
Usually when confronted with someone being as hostile as Garnet, Max would harden his skin and lash out angrily, right now he was too scared of the problem at hand regarding Matthias to be concerned about something as meaningless as being burned. With a frown, the air held unwillingly in his lungs as she leaned forward, Max stubbornly stood his ground, it may surprise her, but the reaction actually made Max realize something deep down. She didn't care Matt slept with guys. Max had always been un the impression that his father's view was held by a great deal of other people, being gay was thought to be one of the most putrid of things a person can do in Steven's opinion, he'd most certainly prefer Max to be on drugs or mixed up in some sort of criminal affair.
"You so needa get a grip on reality, Max,"
Turning his head away, the sapphire gaze merely lingered on some nothingness in the distance, was it odd to want to simply step forward and rest his head down on her shoulder even as she spoke to him like this and threatened to roast him alive? It wouldn't surprise him to have her just pull away from him, like he was diseased, is that how everyone would think of him now?
Words that were often spoken by Max were merely mimicked from what he was used to hearing his father or mother saying, sometimes he didn't even realize he was hurting other people as horribly as he did, even when he didn't mean to. If Garnet said she was angry .. he would in all honsety find himself asking why. The apology that was uttered from her lips caused Max to pull his eyes back to at least gazing down at the ground they were standing on.
"Don’t worry, he won’t notice… it’s not like Matt was walking around telling people,"
That hardly comforted Max, in fact that just made something else hurt all the more, of course the other man didn't go around blurting out his sexual preferance, he knew it was dangerous.. that had to be the reason, Matt knew people would hurt and hate him if they knew. The paranoid thoughts only caused more fright to swell within the youngest Chadstone. He didn't have many friends, he knew everyone and yet no one at all, he never really cared before, being so popular meant he always had company, but what happens now, when no one will want to be near him incase they get sick from the repulsive temptations he finds himself unable to resist?
As far as the Chadstone's were concerned, all people who had sexual intercourse with those of their same sex had some horrible STD that you can magically get just by standing nearby. It was an absurd thing for sure, but Max didn't have anyone to talk with about something like this, no one to correct all the nonsense that has been put in his head. He could ask Matt if he wasn't so scared of hearing the answer and there was always the chance in the rich boys mind that being a bisexual Matt might lie so not to scare Max away and lose a sexual-only based accquintance..
Dimly lit eyes and admirable blue, lost of their usual bundle of life and energy, staring over towards the back of his father and then at Matt and Garnet.. then Matt again who was looking at someone approaching. Yeah. That's right, everyone stare at the girl, watch how her hips sway and the curls of her hair bounce. There was a snap inside Max at that moment that just burst with anger, anger and the fear that he felt, both bubbling hatefully, everyone get's his father's attention, everyone but his own son. Now even Matt was more curious towards that stupid adorable female, seducing in a way that she didn't even need to try.
The lovely Miss Frost entered the store, looking curiously towards the gathered group, two more then she would have imagined. It's not the first time Steven's met with Gwen, sometimes Max has been present, mostly Steven is on his own, usually she didn't deal with such weak breeds of mutants, but what the Chadstone's lacked in mutant powers they more then made up in wealth and political power. Gwen had red and blonde streaks in her hair, easily noticable and yet seemed to suit her so amazingly well.
Max hadn't been pleased last time he saw her since she was telling his father different places Max could go instead of the Institute. Especially now, he wouldn't want to move out and go somewhere else, he wouldn't be able to see Matt, looking a little worried he dropped his gaze from the Black Queen and stared at Matt, realizing with a high degree of being uncomfortable with the thought, that he'd actually fight to stay in the school so he could have sex with the other man.
Without thinking it over, Max briskly decided to go back home, to just get away from here, his mother wanted him home for dinner, he can arrive earlier, he didn't want to go out any more. As he walked quickly to the entrance, his dad calling out Max's name curiously and then repeating it more sternly and loudly as Max - quite possibly on purpose - shoved his way passed the Black beauty as they both passed through the entrance. Gwen threw a glare over towards Max as he stormed off, not liking being treated in such a manner, but she discarded the boys actions as Steven approached with words of apologies and polite excuses as to why Max had behaved so out of line.
"I've organised a late lunch with some other friends of mine, perhaps if you're done here, you may join us there, give us a chance to talk on more seirous matters." The startling bright and clear eyes, heavily, yet perfectly, lined with dark makeup that only enhanced the spectacular effect her ice blue eyes had on people. Gwen cast Garnet and then the one beside her a glance, studying them for a moment, she recognised Garnet, from the student files Amlarie had managed to collect on them. So much has changed for the young Frost, once only concerned in the Hellfire Clubs affairs, now, after a few life changing events, she has decided to try and explore other options. Tired of the political games played by those around here, Amlarie has already started to put together a team, one which will help Gwen do what she has always tried to do, protect mutants from those who try and push them in the dirt.
She had no idea that one of those sitting in this room would soon be picked out to join the selected handful of mutants who had the desire to help or to repent for whatever they did wrong. Everyone had guilt or the feeling of uselessness, and Amlarie will hunt them down, train them, and turn them into the hero's that the HFC couldn't possibly imagine they'd become. Gwen would show Belthazor what happens to those who betray her, if the HFC won't go against him, then she'll find others who will, even if she needs to get them trained and perfected before then, she will waste nothing in the persuit of proving any mutant can be powerful. Belthazor had no right to treat them as pets to be sold, and the HFC had no right to turn their backs on them, mutants were mutants, and Gwen will prove that to everyone who doubts the abilities of the lower class mutants.
"I would be delighted." It took a moment for Steven to recover from his anger, a glare cast towards Max's retreating form, he'd call his son later, there was no way he'd tolerate that kind of treatement towards someone of Miss Frost's reputation. "Garnet, it was a pleasure to meet the two of you, perhaps we can have lunch again." Steven farewelled the two of them, both whom Gwen assumed were females, not bothering to examine either of them too thoroughly, and the other one didn't seem to be looking directly at her so her attention didn't even hover a microsecond on the dark haired person.
When they left the cafe-restaraunt, Max was already hopping into a taxi, fully aware he was grounded but he had acted like an idiot up there so he deserved whatever punishment he got. He knew how important Gwen was to his dad, and he didn't show any respect, not that Max himself cared about any of that, but his dad would be upset with him, and probably disappointed, if he bothered being disappointed anymore. Sometimes it felt as if his dad had given up any hope of Max being of any value to their family name, and the only thing Max had to do was try and not soil more then he already has.
