Questions we are asked a lot:
Q: Why "The Wolf and Firkin"?
A: The Wolf and Firkin is a classic British pub name; Jim Gamma happened upon it whilst doing some work at school and it stuck in his brain.
Q: What IS a Firkin?

A small wooden barrel or covered vessel.
Any of several British units of capacity, usually equal to about 1/4 of a barrel or 9 gallons (34 liters).
Q: So why model this place after a pub?
A: Two reasons - it was suggested by a member, and it's a small pun on our URL - pub83.ezboard.com/btrektalk67286
Q: Why is your URL TrekTalk and not TheWolfAndFirkin or something like that?
A: This current URL was previously owned by a Star Trek bulletin board, called Trek Talk. When that board closed and moved to www.terranbbs.com it's owner offered it to us as she still had several months on her CSC Gold account, whereas our old URL had hundreds of pop-up advertisements.
Q: Where was your old board?
A: pub44.ezboard.com/bgeneral53990 - we still keep archives there in case we eventually decide to move back; this will depend on how well the board does here.
Q: Do you have a ranking system, and if so what is it?
A: Yes we do, the ranks are as follows:
RANK POSTS
Newbie 1-4
Peasant 5-29
Squire 30-79
Knight 80-149
Lord 150-399
Duke 400-799
King 800+
Your first post will denote you as a "Registered User".

Q: Do you allow people to have custom titles, and if so how do I get one?
A: Yes, we do allow them; to get one, e-mail one of the Administrators - currently these are LFrench, Chaos Descending, Jim Gamma and USS Defiant 13. Their e-mail addresses are on the front page.
