The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characters
How this goes will be simple enough, sort of like 'what song are you listening to' obviously not everyone will know everything about other parts of the board so it's not something we can have people guess about. But we can see other interesting character facts about characters on the board and what other players might not of known or might have forgotten or answer questions if someone else has a question they'd like to know.
For example;
Say Lady is really into coupling Tessa with Scott and she wonders for no other reason, who was the first couple ever on the board. She could ask "Who was the first couple on NE?" And for those who know, or think they know, they respond.
I can safely say that Riley and Cat were the first to semi-flirt semi-slaughter each other, followed closely by Rogue and Spike. Rye and Cat were first together but Spike and Rogue had a more stable relationship for a few months. Regardless of that, officially Rye and Cat were first to 'hook up' and also the first to announce they love each other.
Relationship Gossip:
Did you know Cat was the first student to get pregnant? Yep, she and Riley were a little naive in the whole sex department and so they never really considered the pros and cons of it.. Though honestly Riley believes if you're ready to commit to a person in such a way, then it means both are ready to commit the entire way. He was raised on a farm after all, and he's very old fashion in a lot of ways, he doesn't judge others who run around but he doesn't desire the thought of sleeping with a lot of woman, even two would be a big step in his mind.
In Riley's views Catherine is the perfect girl, she's timid and feminine but she's also strong and can stand her ground, he sees a lot more to her that she probably realizes and he knows he can expect great things from her. That's why he stays with her so loyaly, he loves her, and he still believes he'd be happy to have children with her, he's also eager to be a father before he's 25... only a few years left XD
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
*giggles, just coz she's bored and knows Natalie will rarely, if even pop around here*
The Boards Bisexuals:
Did you know that Arisa is a bisexual? Which means Arisa was the first bisexual on the board, it's been one of the reasons she's having trouble deciding how she feels for Arlen. She's confused and unsure and she's slowly learning to realize her eyes wander beyond that of only men. But due to Nat's dismally slow posting, it's taken forever and we're only just starting to get to the time of her realizing it! XD
Two students are being shown the path to bi-hood by other students, Max and Matt are the first to cross this daring path, Angie and Arisa act couplish a lot of times, but it's still unknown if anything will happen! That depends on if Arisa get's drunk or not I guess XD In the boards history, Arisa, Arlen and Angie will be the boards first 'trio' XD *giggles*
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
I didn't know that so thanks for the info! Who knew about Arisa?
It might be interesting to get a country count here. As in how many countries are represented on the board by characters who are from each chosen place. *offers tentative suggestion*
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Hmm.. well Lauren and Angie are obviously from Australia!! *cheers*
Heath is from Old England. *cheers by raising sword in the air*
Riley is from Huxley Iowa.
Claire Voyance.. when she eventually comes into play, and her co are from Sleepy Hollow.
Hmmm... Connor was obviously born in the school..
We have an Arabic, Armaan.
We have Jade Korr.. technically from Tibet XD
We also have Michael, for the Scots..
Storm is really the only african, though I've been tiptoeing around making a female african for years I just never got around to doing it, lol.
That's all I can think off... we should set up a map and try and see how many charries around the world we have.. map as in get names of all the states and whatnot and put the names of charries who come from there
That'd be ground just to have it in the info section for people to see who comes from where and if they want something more unique they know what to go with! Interesting question Lady! Those are all I can think of at the moment, those I'm sure we have a Korean, and Zia is from around ancient Egypt.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Yes states as well would be fun! We should do that indeedy!
I was looking through some of my bios and realising some never had origins like I never stated where Tessa was from *gasps in horror* This would give me a chance to concretely put down a few places among other things.
I'd love to know the cultural backgrounds of our charries though indeedy.
I shall have to look through my bios and stick them all down here for places. So far:
Ryan Warner - Ohio (along with Lily-Rose of course)
Julian Edwards - England
Aisha Munroe \
Drian Macneil / - both from Lost Angels (Aisha the institute)
Michael Hryciuk - Streetsville, Canada.
Kaitlyn Davies - NYC
Lexi Moore - Connecticut
Johnny Smith - Maine
Jack Harmony - Las Vegas, Nevada
Oz Daniels - Massachusetts
Murray Grey - South Africa
Tessa Macneil - Massachusetts
Casey Chandler - Connecticut
Jess Mariano - NYC
Kal-El/Clark Kent - Kansas
Victoria Fitzbruin - Los Angeles
Truth Saunders - NYC
Hera/Geneve Harrison - New York State
Fred Mason - Washington D.C.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
right... just so you know, this is your fault Angie!!
Look at the top of NE to find NE's charrie/player map!! *choir: aaaah!!*

The question remains whether there is also a time when we can get rid of it again.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Kichi's Japan, yes yes.... but PK insists I mention Melantha is from Japan also..... OOOOOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDD Japan
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Ok guys Lets get back on track..... GOSSIP!!
Logan was always a cradle snatcher..... he met his wife Michelle when she was a student at the Institute though he didnt make a move till she was a teacher. They still dated when she was twenty two, married when she was twenty four and had Connor when she was twenty six... tsk tsk
Scott Summers.... thinks hard..... emm.. well is the fact that hes a clone still gossip... sigh ..he reallly is too straight laced!
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Connor's shy around girls, he likes to take his time with them, to get to know them and get them to grow comfortable with him. He has a weakness for other ferals though, if a girl pushes him for intimacy he tends to back off and avoid them, but if a feral pushes him his response can be rather random, depending on everything that's going on at the moment. Most likely he may comply but will avoid them afterwards and feel terrible or guilty about it.
X-23 just wants to have a family and friends, despite her rough and tough attitude, she's still just a child, and she wants to be happy and have other things other children got to have. While she may be snappish or silent at times, she's actually going to try and be more warm and kind with people, but it depends on a few things... what they're like and such, Lily-Rose will really bring out the niceness in X-23.
Oooo... does everyone know that when Scott Freeman returns he's going to be helping Hank around the MedBay? He'll be the only male 'nurse' Hank has at the moment. lol
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Just a little question here but has anyone noticed how a great number of the board's "strong" females seem to be on the side of evil? By that I mean the very self-sufficient, independant types who can really do their own fighting and lend a hand.
I've noticed I have lighter characters who are still strong females on the X-men side of things but perhaps not quite as strong-willed and occationally bitchy as the characters I've stuck into the Brotherhood and eventually Maverick. Anyone else find this or am I just crazy?
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
That's very true. Hello cliché, eh? Must be some subconscious thing that we still associate uber-independent women with evil
But did you also notice that most of our BH chars actually have a reason WHY they are the way they are? I don't think any of them is "evil" for the sake of evilness...or...?
There comes a time in everyone's life when we have to take over responsibility.
The question remains whether there is also a time when we can get rid of it again.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
That's true. Our evil is three-dimensional.
Hmm gossip *cracks knuckles and thinks*
Here's an interesting one and if you want to answer you don't have to for all characters but... where did the initial inspiration for them come from?
Michael Hryciuk, for example, borrowed his powers from a guest star in an Episode of the Dead Zone who could read numbers only his are more erratic at the moment. Looks, origin location and personality have a basis in the real life lead singer of Billy Talent because I found it facinating that Ben could seem like the normal polite nice Canadian and change instantly on stage into this alter-ego which looks scary and literally insane.
Oz is obviously a realization of Jekyll and Hyde in a less agressive and more subtle way than say the movie one in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Julian Edwards was slightly inspired by watching the Masterpiece theatre Daniel Deronda. More the actor and a few facets of history, the character is still mostly my own. His powers come from a character in Xanth called Tandy, I believe, who was a nymph that could create tantrums.
Kaitlyn began as a word. After watching the Canadian Idol episode where the top three sing "In Your Eyes" the way Jacob said Facade stuck with me and I decided I needed that word to be a codename.
Ryan Warner's fierce protection of his daughter and his image come from the movie Nick of Time. Powers and everything else are my own and I can't remember where they came from!
Casey Chandler has obvious beginnings in the movie, The Faculty where I stole the name, Elijah Wood and the geekiness.
Jess Mariano is adapted from the Gilmore Girls Jess, stealing his name, personality and New York roots.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
*points up* Good question.... *sees Essay coming on...*
Racheal
I can't actually remember what came around first. Racheal or her powers. I supppose what actually finalised the deal was my imaginnings (ie, characters before I rped) created a 'character' for the Animorph books, and I stole the name partially from there and partially from what people call me accidentally. But the powers where... sort of in the making before that even. I don't know. Most of you know I adore animals so it kinda came from that. I used to have about 5 imaginary pets, and my favorite games used to involve me turning into an animal and for years I used to be my sisters pets to entertain them. So I can't really say what exactly originally triggered morphing as a power. It's just something that's aways been there lol, somewhere in the twisted mind of Rebecca! rofl..
Hannah
Slightly easier. I knew I wanted a new character, and that I wanted to pick the face of the character first. So I decided Stacie Orrico (singer) would make a good face and I could have a younger, Christian student. But what about powers? What it came down to was simple. A lot of people assume Christians are honest, goody two shoes. So what if Hannah (then Stacie Sayer) was extreme on honesty? And bam. There it was lol.
Wes
Much easier. I love the show the Invisible Man, but didn't want Darien. So I made his son - nearly identical powers except he can produce the all important antidote. Volia. lol.
"I was wrong, to think that I might belong. But I will never forget what I was... Who I am.. What I did, just to learn that"
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Well, the reason I made Armaan was umm, standard. I was talking to Ann when she sugesst I try my hand at NE, and being a creature with no spine, I agreed and went hunting for a cannon X-men character I could play the child of.
I found Dust aka. Sooraya Qadir and built Armaan around her...
My next character who is in the works is based Senator Kelly!
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Oooo another character!
*jumps with excitement and curiosity*
I'm debating daughters of canons, we'll see how it goes though and how much time SD takes up, as well as how many ideas I get there *tries to shove the two latest out of her brain to no avail*
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our CharacteKylora Spens-Chambers
Actually, Kylora is the daughter of one of my first made up characters, Lenora (a hydrokinetic) and a made up of a friend's (a pyrokinetic and yes, used with permission). I gave the last name, Spens to both of them because of a book Quest for a Maid that I absolutely love. That name was Sir Patrick Spens's last name. Thus, started Lenora's powers (actually a friend made her up and I tweaked her a bit, adding the elvish and the history). Kylora's name came from the Pern series by Anne McCaffery (sp?). I actually am going to name my first-born girl this (fiance likes it too! ^_^). Her powers came from Ivy of Xanth who can make any plant grow. I just added the communication with animals deal so that she'd be different from DC's Poison Ivy.
She is actually a bit elvish. Tuatha de Naan, to be exact. These fair folk have been rumored to be actually aliens. They're tall and very intelligent, having originated in Celtic legends. They're also the type that were rumored to be from the land of Tir Na Nog. Oh! And her codename, Gaia, came from the goddess of the Earth in Greek legends.
One last thing. Her great grandmother, who is really fully elvish, is still alive. She actually visits both Lenora and Kylora in their dreams. She also gave them both their amulets (and those interdimensional mirrors so that they could keep in touch without giving away Kylora's dimensional location!). Each one represents their element from which they draw their power. I believe I made it so that the amulet could protect them and add power to their mutant power(s). Cordelia (the grandmother) is also the reason why Kylora was able to escape into this dimension from the Hellions that have been trying to kill her and her mother for so many years. She is always watching over her granddaughters, since they're the first of her descendents to really show their elvish heritage. In some ways, you could say that their mutant powers work in tangent with their elvish heritage, thus activating that sort of gene. But I'm rambling now. So, on to the next char origins!
Elaina Griffin
Elaina's last name came out of the series, The Descendents of Merlin by Irene Radford. Her being the oldest of three sisters is no coincidence though. Like me, she has two sisters. Each of them correspond with my own. I just left out the worst of their quirks. ^_^ I also made all their names end with 'a' because my mother had the same theme with 'ie' at the end of our's. I believe I had her grow up in the same manner as me, with a few differences. However, whereas she has the patience to teach, I do not. As for her powers, I actually always thought that it would be cool to visit worlds of stories. I think everyone has. I just went a step further and created a character who could do that. ^_^ One last fact. The youngest sister is named Jenna. Well, that was what my mother wanted to call my youngest sister, instead of Ginnie. My Dad didn't like it though, so they named her after my great aunt, Virginia, and shortened it to Ginnie.
Aldrea Hawk
Aldrea was originally supposed to be able to summon spiritual totems and use their powers in a RPG with a team of RPers on AOL. However, after a few times of trying out the power, my GM decided to get her to lose those powers and gain technopathic powers that showed up after her luck mutant of a boyfriend sent a little luck her way before he went over to their enemies, the Hellfire Club. ((I have logs of some of the sessions if anyone's interested. Or not. LoL)) Anyway, I adapted her from that and brought her here after the group had parted online for a few years. Her Alabamaness comes from me liking my homestate. ^_^
Originally, though, her grandmother was supposed to be crazy due to a rape right after her husband died. She was supposed to actually be able to project her dreams to her granddaughter, Aldrea, and act as a psychic at times because of her craziness. Her father was also supposed to be dead, but I changed all that once I actually worked on the history more.
One last morsel, Aldrea's name came from an andalite from the Animorph series. I had just read that book, I believe, before I came up with her character. Incidentally, this is also to be the name of my second daughter (no, I don't intend on having a score of kids anytime soon, but it is likely that I'll have at least two girls!)
Three Amazing Girls + One Super-Powered School = Countless Possibilities.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Hmmm. Good question. Here's what I remember.
Ben Rogers:
I made this guy to be the son of Captain America. I wanted to try out a guy with slightly above normal power levels, so it would be easy to play. He was the first guy I created anywhere, but I haven't used him much yet.
Jordan Reynolds:
This guy was originally supposed to be bulletproof and have enhanced strength. He still has the bulletproofing to a limited degree, but I also gave him the ability to summon his weapons to him and made him a lot lighter.
He was originally supposed to be based on my little brother, but since I made him lighter and a little shorter, I decided to just keep my brother's lack of trust and fondness for horses in this guy, and added a fondness for weapons and a distrust of anyone who wants to disarm him. Jordan was first going to be the type to charge in headfirst like my brother, but with the change in powers i made him into a guy who was more cunning and sneaky in a fight.
Mitch Williams:
I gave this guy my brother's aptitude with technology. A lot of the other stuff about him I did to make him a severe contrast to Jordan, such as giving Mitch the physical mutation of height growing instead of the psychic power of severely limited telekinesis like Jordan has.
That's all I can remember right now. The old brain doesn't want to work very well.
Re: The Gossip Corner: Interresting Facts About Our Characte
Alright. Dish.
Aside from current love interests, who would your character totally go for?(this implies that your character knows everything about the other characters though you, the player...oh, and age, timeline and other stuff is no boundry)
Armaan: No Contest. Storm.
Gambit: *Quirky smile* "All dems females is gone be good e'nuff for Gambit...."
