The Knockaround Guys
I must say that after Vin's BIG disappointment (xXx) that I was pleasantly surprised at how good the movie was. Hearing all the buzz surrounding it, I was not as thrilled as some and not breaking down the doors to rent it or own when it became available to do so.
Waiting until my anger has subsided I went out and purchased it at Target and watched it with no expectation and veery little anticipation....but from the beginning scene to the end I was riveted.
The characters were so real and genuine....the script was well written and the plot of the story touch the harsh reality of betrayle..even the actors (including Vin) brought a surreal feeling to the movie that all the elements blended so well....making for one good damn movie.
Vin's character Taylor totally played the fucking bad guy who is a man of very few words but big on action... You could see the hunger in his eyes...wanting to make it....wanting to be the BIG movie star.
Maybe it's just that his acting in this movie was so refreshing that now I am excited again about seeing a Vin Diesel movie. Who would ever thought I'd be saying that again.

Re: The Knockaround Guys
I really liked this movie. Much better than either XXX, but not as "polished" as TFTF (XXX wasn't as "polished" either). One of the reasons I love Vin so is that he seems to take a different track with every character. Where another actor would have given bravado to Taylor, he goes underneath.
I think the common denominator for each of his characters isn't so much the "vulnerability," but the "failure" aspect. He knows he will never be a made guy, isn't happy about it, but that is what he does and who he is. He makes to most of it.
