The Renaissance Hospital - Wounded
CHRIS

The bike's headlights cut through the darkness of the streets as it sped towards the hospital, the tyres squeeling in protest as Chris threw the bike into the corners with little or no braking in an attempt to save time. After what seemed like an age to him the screen between the handlebars showed the hospital round the next corner.

They pulled up in a cloud of smoke, the faint smell of burning eminating from the engine and tires, as he hastily dismounted and once again picked up the limp, bleeding Rogue he could feel the magics protecting this place, but it did not bother him.

He ran to the door, a swift boot sending it flying violently open allowing him to run through to what he assumed was a reception desk with a startled person on the other side of it "Get me a doctor quick, i believe i have a slight emergency here" he said loudly, trying to stop the bleeding with a handkerchief

JENNIFER
Everyone inside the entrance hall where he had entered grew silent, staring over towards the figure in his arms, whispers heard before they where hushed by others.

Reception Girl:"I-I-I'm s-sorry.."

She stuttered nervously as she looked at Rogue's body with both sympathy as well as horror.

Reception Girl:"B-But we c-c-can n-not accept....I-I'm so sorry sir...sh-she's not allowed...we're not allowed....you have....you have to leave..."

Lowering her gaze shamefully, showing she didn't like -or want - to refuse their help, but as she said that, two voices could be heard yelling.

Doctor:"What is the problem here?"

Nurse Amy:"The Slayer!"

Doctor:"What's going on here?"

The young blonde haired nurse frightfully looked over Rogue's chest wound, yet the doctor didn't even look at her, he ignored her completely as he glared at the intruder.

Doctor:"This is a place of healing, how dare you bring such a dangerous person here."

Nurse Amy:"Bu-But Doctor she's the Slayer.."

Doctor:"Being new doesn't excuse you speaking out of line."

He warned threateningly before he looked back at the man holding Rogue, the Nurse throwing him an angry and cold glare as he continued to speak.

Doctor:"We agreed she was not to come here, ever, you're breaking that agreement, she agreed to it, and it was settled. Now leave."

Nurse Amy:"But she's hurt badly! She needs blood transfusions, she needs medical attention!"

Doctor:"She's not getting it here."

Nurse Amy:"There's no where else for her to go, why won't you just help her? She's the Slayer!"

Doctor:"Where she goes, Death follows, we won't bring death into a place of healing."

With that, he turned about, ordering the few people gathered into the other rooms, closing the door to the reception without another thought. The Nurse looked back at the door that was then locked with a faint clicking sound, she looked back at Rogue.

Nurse Amy:"Put her on the ground.."

Helping him lower her to the ground slowly and carefully, the Nurse looked over the Slayers wounds for a moment then let out a small sigh as she looked at the girl behind the desk.

Nurse Amy:"Have you got a cloth?"

Without hesitation the receptionist opened a draw and handed her a white bed sheet that was stored there earlier for emergencies. Placing it with some pressure over her chest, in a futile effort to stop the bleeding, she looked about, but before she was able to ask for help, a car was heard pulling up outside..

CATHERINE
As soon as Dawn was out of the car Cat shot out, don't let her be dead .... please ... don't let her die she screamed silently in her head. The palm of her hand hitting the door, smashing it open.

Her eyes at once falling to the figure of Rogue lying stretched out upon the floor ... Cat felt the same cold feeling strike her stomach.

'Rogue.' The word was slightly choked, she dropped to her knees by the slayer's side. The next second she came to her senses she couldn't be dead or the nurse wouldn't be by her side.

'Please make her live.' She whispered, her voice trembling, she picked up Rogue's hand. 'Is there anything I can do?' She said tightening her grip on the slayers limp hand. Looking into Rogue's face, waiting for someone to try and take her away like they had done with her parents, they hadn't let her try to help. She couldn't do nothing, she really would go crazy this time, she'd been so close to killing herself sometimes, just to stop the images.

She could almost feel the cool steel against her skin, sitting on the edge of the bath tub in Jon's massive house. Her shoulders were shaking and her hand trembling so much she could hardly hold the razor, she couldn't do this anymore. She couldn't watch her parents die one more time, her hair fell about her shoulders, over her England football shirt she wore to bed. She was crashing in a spare room at Jon's, she hated sleeping anywhere but her own bed, it just made it more likely that she would have nightmares. If she just ended it now she wouldn't have to worry anymore and she wouldn't be alone.

The door opened suddenly and someone flicked on the overhead light switch.

'God Cat what the hell?!' Jon's voice said full of shock, she didn't look up, clutching the blade tighter, pressing it slightly against her skin, a single drop of red blood welled up and slid down her arm. In three quick steps he had crossed the distance over to her and grabbed the hand holding the razor, prising her fingers open, she wimpered in pain as he crushed hand, it clattered uselessly to the floor. He knelt down infront of her.

'What were you thinking stupid girl, you have everything to live for.' He hugged her tightly against him, it was possibly the first time he realised he really liked her. His voice was angry with concern and worry. She just shook her head and clung to his front, sobs racking her body, her face burried in the front of his t-shirt.

'No I dont'.' Her voice was choaked with tears, he pulled her slightly closer against him, she slid from the side of the bath, curling up against him, her arms wrapping around his chest, the drop of blood on her arm staning her white t-shirt.

Most of the time death frightened her but sometimes in the dark, when she was alone and afraid she would have welcomed it's tight embrace.

CHRIS
"thanks" he said to the nurse softly, anger burned inside Chris as he placed rogue down on the floor and stood upright again facing where the doctor had gone, walked over and tapped on the door, he did not notice the others arrive "open this door, get out here and sort out this wound NOW" he yelled, his voice deep and bellowing.

he stood with his fists clenched to his sides, staring at the closed door "I advise you to come out if you value your door" his voice was now quieter and more restrained "look, if a demon arrives I will take full responsibility and kill it before it does any damage" he paused to listen for a reply "hiding in there will not change the fact that she's here, just give us the necessary to fix her up if you're that bothered" the anger was evident in his words, he wished it wasn't it wouldn't help the situation.

"some doctor you must be" he said loud enough for anyone behind the door to hear as he walked back towards where he had put down Rogue, there were now people gathered around "ok, ok, give the nurse some space" he recognized the girl he had given his gun to, he tapped her lightly on the shoulder "in the saddle bag of my bike there is a case" he said kneeling down next to her "would you get it please, it has some first aid gear, its the larger case and has a silver handle".

He looked at the cloth which was now becoming stained with blood, who was he kidding, the case only contained a few bandages, some strange medicines and his own medication, what she needed right now was a blood transfusion. he looked at the people around "anyone know her blood type, if so tell me so i can take a trip to where they keep the stuff and procure some"

JENNIFER & DAWN
With a whisper Dawn, who stood at the doorway refusing to move any closer to the Slayer covered in all the blood, called out quietly.

Dawn:"...She's a Universal Donor...uh...she's type 'O'..she can only receive blood that is also type 'O', it's kinda hard to get.."

Logan knelled down beside the Nurse, his eyes only throwing Dawn a confused and questioning glance for a moment before allowing his gaze to drop downwards to Rogue's bleeding body.

Logan:"Rogue?"

He whispered as he placed his hand on her forehead gently.

Logan:"Can you hear us Rogue?"

To everyone but Catherine, there appeared to be no response, yet Rogue's fingers seemed to softly grip the girls’ hand a little tighter. Whether this was from Logan's words or simply an unconscious reaction to the warmth of someone else’s hand holding hers, no one could really be sure.

Nurse Amy:"I'm sorry...if the Doctor says we can't....I don't understand why we can't take her in, I swear if I was in charge...if I could do anything I would...why are they letting her die like this?"

The young nurse seemed to glare towards the door.

Nurse Amy:"Isn't she worth saving after all she's done for us?"

But if there was anyone still lingering in the halls behind the locked doors, they gave no answer, instead the Nurse returned her attention to the Slayer. It was strange, seeing a girl who was said to hold such great power...laying here...bleeding...helpless....dying..

Nurse Amy:"You get me that Medical Kit, I'll do what I can for her."

Uncomfortably,Dawn shifted about by the door, watching how Cat held the hand of the girl who resembled her sister back home.

Dawn:"Hey, stay there Cat, I'll grab it.."

Without waiting around for a reply, she left threw the door, choking back the tears as best she could while trying to find what the man had described. Once she had it in her grasp, she quickly brushed away the tears and hurried back into the reception area. Handing it quickly down to the Nurse who began shifting threw what little was inside, yet extremely grateful for the bandages.

Nurse Amy:"The doors are locked with a magic field...only the doctor can lock and unlock it. Our head Nurse is in charge today, he's taking on the role of our 'doctor' since Doctor Roy hasn't turned up for work...we fear he's been.."

Logan:"I'm sorry..."

Nurse Amy:"...It's scary...but...I think we're growing used to it.."

Logan:"....We shouldn't ever be forced to grow used to death."

Nurse Amy:"...Sometimes we have no other choice."

She replied sadly as she began cleaning the cut as best she could with what little she had and dressing the wound. Logan stood, almost unable to remain around the blood any longer, taking a few steps away as he tried to avoid looking at her.

He didn't want her to die here, he couldn't go on knowing that Jennifer was dead, all this time he kept preparing himself for this...but there was no way he could cope.

Dawn:"I don't understand....why didn't she just teleport out of there?"

Logan paused and turned around to look towards Dawn once more.

Logan:"She's a Slayer, not a witch."

Dawn:"No...I mean, you know, her thing, where she does the thing...and can then teleport...doesn't she have that thing here?"

Logan:"I lost you at the first 'thing'."

Dawn:"Doesn't matter then....you'd know the thing if you saw the thing.."

Her eyes dropped to the floor but could feel Logan's hazel blue stare peering at her still.

Logan:"Who are you?"

Dawn tried to offer him a faint smile, yet it came out more of a sad and upset half-hearted one at best.

Dawn:"Who do you think I am?"

Logan:"This isn't a game!"

Dawn:"That's why I'm not laughing. I'm Dawn, that's who I am, Dawn."

Logan:"How do you know her blood type's O? How do you know.....Dawn?"

Logan's eyes peered down at Rogue for a moment.

Logan:"...Dawn."

A look of sudden realization flashed into his eyes as he stepped towards the young girl, his eyes locked on her almost in awe.

Logan:"You're Dawn! "

Dawn gave a nervous look about for a moment before slowly looking back at Logan.

Dawn:"I-I am...yes...."

Logan:"..Why didn't you tell us?"

Once again Dawn's eyes shifted over the group, most probably still unsure what was so special about her being 'Dawn'.

Dawn:"Because...if I did...then...everyone would know...in our world the Slayer's a big secret, no one's allowed to know that..."

Pausing for a moment as she looked over at Cat who sat who still sat with Rogue's hand in her grasp, she then folded her arms as if she was suddenly cold. Doing her best to ignore the other students in the room as she talked with Logan, Dawn continued on.

Dawn:"...I'm not allowed to tell anyone my sisters the Slayer, I promised Jennifer I wouldn't tell anyone at the school...and these guys go to the school..."

Nurse Amy:"....I can't stop the bleeding."

Both Logan and Dawn stopped speaking and silently turned their attention back towards Rogue...would the Slayer simply bleed to death on the floor of a hospital? What was wrong with these people!?

(ooc-Gee...everytime I do a post here I seem to be getting kicked off!
Sorry to leave it like that guys, but I gotta go!)

CHRIS
hearing the door couldnt be unlocked was not what Chris had desired, the chances of them not having some form of magical barrier were slim as well he guessed, he stood up and looked at the door, then across the reception in case there were any other ways in, he found nothing. he walked over to the wall next to the door and ran his hands over it, he couldnt feel any barrier spells.

"....I can't stop the bleeding."

he sighed quietly, his job had been to kill angellus and protect the slayer, so far he had not managed either. he looked at the floor at his boots, he had nothing of an use to them on him, he was kitted out for fighting not healing. running his hand over his bloodstained shirt he suddenl had a thought, underneath the shirt he was weraing a protective vest, it probably wouldnt help, but it was worth offering it as it was padded and may save on bandages. his back was turned, he slipped his hand under his shirt, undid the vest and pulled it out, it also had bloodstains on it. "Here" he called over to the nurse, throwing it on the floor near them "this might do for padding"

"two things about this lock" he said looking at the wall again, he was now tapping it with one finger "does it mean theres a barrier if i kick the door down, and does it cover walls"

CATHERINE
Cat looked up surprised, wondering what Chris meant ... was he saying that the doctors weren't going to try and save Rogue ... it must be a mistake, they had brought her here, she needed medical attention and quickly.

She looked down despairingly into Rogue's face, the girl couldn't survive loosing that much blood and she was going to die on the reception floor of a hospital and yet again Cat would have to stand aside and know there was nothing she could do.

'Haven't they heard of the Hippocratic oath.' She growled, she wasn't sure what it was but she knew all doctors had to agree to it, she knew it contained rules they had to agree to and she was sure there must be something about treating someone.

She stared upwards at Chris as he tapped her on the shoulder, but she wasn't sure she could move, her muscles seemed to have turned to lead.

'...She's a Universal Donor...uh...she's type 'O'..she can only receive blood that is also type 'O', it's kinda hard to get..'

Her heart fluttered crazily in her chest and she looked away, she was 'O' but she knew anything that involved transfusions would involve needles and she was not ... not under any circumstances going to do anything needily. She'd once had a filling without a local anesthetic rather than be injected, though it was the most excruciating pain she had ever experienced in her life. Anne and Roger had just shook their heads as the drove her back, it was the only time that they had seen her cry, thought they didn't know she was biting back screams of pain.

Feeling the pressure on her hand increase slightly she looked down into Rogue's face, feeling guilt well up in her heart, someone else had to be 'O' they just had to be. A hot flush sprang into her cheeks ... Rogue was going to die and it would be her fault, she closed her eyes when she had said she wanted to help she hadn't meant like this. God was laughing at her again she decided angrily, just when she thought she had hit rock bottom she found that she was at the top of a steep hill with nowhere to go but crazily and with growing momentum.

She heard Dawn's words somewhere in the back of her mind and then the sound of the front door closing ... Dawn shouldn't go out, she might get hurt as well, but then she returned carrying the medical case.

'...It's scary...but...I think we're growing used to it..' How the hell could they grow used to it? She never wanted to see anyone else die in her life, things like that marked you, but perhaps if you saw allot of deaths they just rolled up into one foggy mess, perhaps other people could shrug aside death.

She was half listening to the conversation Dawn was having with Logan, her sister was the slayer? did that mean she was Jennifer's sister? why wasn't she more concerned. Cat glanced up and saw the girl had tears swimming in them, Cat really wasn't sure what to think about his girl, she was a puzzle to Cat, but the tears told Cat Dawn cared. She wanted to tell Dawn that Rogue did have the "thing" but she had promised she wouldn't and she would keep to her word, instead she looked back down at Rogues face.

'....I can't stop the bleeding.' The words stabbed into her heart, that was it ... she was doing it again ... killing someone someone she cared about. Her hair spilled across her shoulders as quiet tears slipped down her cheeks, splashing down onto Rogue's hand, glad that most people wouldn't see her tears. She didn't cry ... she wasn't her eyes were just watering ... they were ... weren't they. She looked down at Rogue, this girl was willing to give up her own life to save the lives of others ... Cat's own life and Cat was afraid just have a needle put into her. She drew a steely breath and hardened her resolve, but her voice still came out as little more than a choked whisper.

'I'm type 'O'.' She thought back to when they had had to take a sample of her blood to check that her dreams weren't being caused by any physical ailment. That had been back in England, she'd struck out at the nurse, catching her a blow around the nose, the woman had clutched at her bloody face cursing the girl who was now huddled in a corner, watching her every room with large frightened eyes. That had gone down on her record as well ... her record was growing more extensive by the month and it wasn't helped by Bekki and others who encouraged her wild behaviour when ever possible.

SEAN
Sean watched as the people rushed around him. What did it matter if Dawn was Dawn right now, they had to save Rouge. He watched as people ran to and from the medicine cabinet, and the stranger Sean recognised from the flat ran to his bag and back again, and then back again. Sean saw time was being wasted here, he focused his mind, and his eyes glowed very very slightly orange, he could feel and sense all that was happening in the hospital building.

Sean spoke, his voice deeper as he was connected to the very essence of the room and the building;

"I can help." And as he spoke all the medical equipment flew from within the room and skidded to a halt next to the nurse, Cat and the stranger who was doing what they could to save Rouge. Sean spoke again, his voice deeper again, it reverberated about the room, he could see a glint in the people's eyes at his altered persona;

"You said you needed things from the other rooms, I can help you get through the doorway." He turned his attention to the wooden doorway the Doctor had walked through, he focused on it, and as he extended his hands and arms towards the door to 'feel' its being, his eyes glowed even brighter, the orange hue fell about him, he heard a bird-like cry in his head and then he pulled with all his power at the door. At first it began to rattle, the peopl in the room looked nervously as the door shook. Then the screws in the hinges started to fall out one by one, the doorframe crazked and warped and all of a sudden the locked entrance was pulled from the wall and thrown across the room, people about him screamed but he saw a slight look of awe in Cat's eyes as he focused back on his friends.

"The doorway is gone, there is a break in the magical seal there, but it is closing slowly, I can feel it, quickly Cat, help me get the equipment they need."

Sean was in motion suddenly sprinting towards the entrance that had been torn in the wall, but as he reached the fissure he hit the seal, it had reformed, he was thrown back across the room into a pile of chairs.

"Damn!" he shouted as he raised a hand, gripping a introvenous drip that he could see in the next room with his telekinesis and pulling it towards him, and just as he thought it was going to get to him, it to hit the seal and feel to the floor. He jumped up;

"What now, the physical barriars gone, Dawn, your going to have to do something, arn't you a Witch, isn't this your area?" Sean asked desperately, the desperation seen in his exposed eyes.....

CLAY
Clay looked on helplessly with a feeling not unlike butterflies in his stomach. He had always looked on his mutant powers as a gift but now he wasn't so sure. It felt worse to have powers that couldn't help in a situation then to not have powers at all and feel helpless he thought. Shrugging that aside though Clay turned to Sean.

"Is there anything I can do?" he asked quickly, hoping that there would be something. He'd been speechless, standing around for far too long now and wanted..no needed to help.

CATHERINE
She glanced up from Rogue's face, her heart still pounding wildly, why did these things always happen to her? like she was a walking magnet for unhappiness. She gripped Jennifer's hand tightly and looked down at her again with sorrow filled eyes.

Sean was talking, he was such a jerk she decided yet some part of her couldn't help liking him, though it was a resentful kind of liking which the rest of her mind tired to stamp out. She watched, her mouth hanging open a little as he blasted the door from the wall, she closed it again, suddenly wishing that she had had been endowed with a better power, speed ... wow biggy, that had done allot of frigging good so far. She looked down at Rogue again feeling rather sulky.

She heard him speak to her and was about to get to her feet when something sent him flying across the room, she made as if to move across to ascertain if he was alright but she didn't want to leave Rogue's side. She was sure if she let go of the girl's hand something bad would happen, instead she watched as Sean picked himself up, she was surprised to see an emotion other than anger in his eyes ... so he did have basic human emotions.

Catherine glanced up as Clay spoke, he was asking the same question she had, she was secretly glad she wasn't the only one feeling helpless.

SEAN
Sean looked at Clay and Cat, they both seemed to be very unsure of what they could do to help;

"Cat, help the nurse and...him (He looked at the stranger who was with Rouge), do what they say, they seem to know what their doing. Clay, I need you to try something, we don't have time to research a counter spell to this shielding field we have, can u nullify it with your powers, even just enough for me to pull through some of the equipment we need?"

Sean looked at Clay quizzically, his look urging him on to try. He didn't know Clay to well, but he was sure that the young man would do all he could to help.....

CLAY
Clay responded instantly without even thinking. He didn't care at this point how much energy it would drain from him, he just needed to help.

"I can do it," Clay said firmly and looked over at Sean. "I'm not sure how long I can hold it though so say the word when you want me to start. I'll keep it up as long as I can."

The nullification mutant looked over at Sean then concentrated, preparing to use his powers. "Just say when."

CATHERINE
She glanced over at the nurse, waiting to be told what she could do,feeling as if she were teetering on the brink of insanity. Half of her just wanted to close her eyes and put her hand's over her ears, to scream until she had forgotten, where she was, who she was ... everything.

For what must have been the one hundredth time in her life she wondered where everything had gone wrong, it wasn't as if everything had been picture perfect before her parent's death. Her parent's loved each other but they tended to argue allot, she knew they tried to not fight infront of her, they'd row at the end of the garden, in the wooden shed. But she could still hear the angry words and like most children she wondered if it were something she had done.

Things had rapidly gone down hill after her parents died and she was moved to a center for children in London, then several different foster homes, like allot of others she didn't respond well to constant moving around. Catherine became surly and withdrawn and this wasn't helped by the cocktail of drugs she had been prescribed. The antidepressants helped her moodiness and depression however the effects were worsened if she forgot to take her tablets and they also had the added benefit of them being addictive so once they were stopped she suffered from some effects. The other main drugs were some kind of tablet to deal with her dreams, some kind of psychological tablets, they were bright pink and she couldn't help being suspicious of them and tablets to help her sleep. None of these did much good, her nightmares might have been stopped but she was a walking zombie and her grades took a sudden dip.

But things had started to look up when she had moved to Washington, they had stopped the medication and she only had to see Alice her psychologist. She'd met Bekki and the others, she'd been happy then. But then Roger and Anne had taken her away to Xavier's and Riley had told her she belonged there, he wanted her to stay, he told her it was safe ... he'd lied to her. She ignored the feeling of hurt that crept into her chest well when she got back things would be different. She was going to get a job and earn enough to get the train back to her friend's in Washington and she could get a flat or perhaps a small apartment with the others. It was a very sketchy plan and the chances of it happening were very slim, even if Riley did manage to get her a job and an apartment the chances of the job paying enough to do much more than feed her and pay for her room were very slim. She had no experience and no qualification, but what else was she supposed to do ... stay at Xavier's with the likes of Sean and Riley and play at teams.

JENNIFER & DAWN

Dawn:"Sorry Sean, with Magic it doesn't work like that..I'm not a witch...just....I can cast a few spells...you'll need someone stronger then me in magic.."

In truth she wasn't really sure, but there was no way she'd come up with a poem for opening a door, she just wasn't good enough.

Logan:"If you can weaken it, I can help."

The Watcher made his way to the doorway, throwing Clay a glance as if saying he was ready whenever the boy was ready. Lifting his hand slightly, Logan allowed his palm to hover dangerously close to the barrier.

Logan:"One of the perks of being a Warlocks son.."

He mumbled under his breath as the center of his palm began to glow a pale white, readying for the spell Logan was going to preform once the barrier had been weakened.

Instead of helping them, Dawn hurried over to Rogue as the Nurse stood up, there was nothing more that she could do without any equipment.

Nurse Amy:"She needs blood...we have the blood, we just need the machine, if you could get it...it'd help her greatly.."

Knelling on the other side of Rogue from Cat, the young spell caster reached out gently and touched the side of her cheek.

Dawn:"Looks like it's finally your time to be rescued Jenn...I just wish for once I could help ya get threw this.."

There was a pause, then Dawn looked up with sudden realisation, an almost triumphant look in her eyes as she looked at Cat.

Dawn:"I've got it!"

Rushing to her feet as she hurried over to the barrier, Logan slowly pulling his hand away as she stood in front of it, her hand slowly reaching out and touching the magical field.

Dawn:"It worked when we first went to the Renaissance Hotel in Down Town New York, so maybe...maybe it'll work here. The barriers are all rather identical..."

For a moment she closed her eyes, trying to remember the exact words she had spoke, though it wasn't to difficult to remember them. She also had to focus, when Angel had asked her to help give him access back into his hotel after one of his guests locked him out, it took some energy from her. But then again, this was just a doorway...not an entire building..

Dawn:"When you find your path is blocked.."

Her hand reached for the wall beside her and her knuckles gently knocked against the wall.

Dawn:"All you have to do is knock."

She took a step back and braced herself for something to go wrong, but nothing happened, which caused a frown to appear across her normally sweet face.

Dawn:"And darn you unlock!"

She demanded stubbornly as she folded her arms, a flicker of blue light is seen across the doorway, just as the Doctor and three guards appears heading towards them from down the hall.

Dawn:"Hey...wow....it worked...and hey...he looks really grumpy.."

Logan:"Sean, focus on getting the medical equipment!"

Dawn:"Clay, is it possible to instead null the mean looking mutants? I can take them by hand, it'd even the odds!"

The commotion of the outside world cause a flicker of movement in Rogue's face, her head shifted slightly to the side, facing where Cat sat. It took a moment, but her eyes slowly began to open, but she didn't seem to look at Cat, instead she tried to lift her head slightly, she give a soft cry of pain before letting it rest back on the ground.

Nurse Amy:"Place your hand on her forehead, she shouldn't move."

The Nurse warned quickly, Dawn's eyes instantly turning towards Cat and the Slayer, as well as Logan who desperately wanted to take a step towards them yet forced himself to remain where he was.

Rogue's eyes looked up towards the sky, a look of worry seen in her face as she tried to build up the strength to move again.

Dawn:"The spell Cat, if she's not welcomed here she can't see us!"

Logan:"You!"

Logan looked towards Chris.

Logan:"Help hold off these ungrateful lot, Dawn, please...you got the barrier down, would you..?"

The Slayer's hand tightened gently around Cat's once more, which seemed to give Rogue the strength to close her eyes and the worry instantly left her face as she realized she was not alone.

Glancing over at Logan, Dawn then quickly made her way to Rogue's side, the girl simply sat there for a moment, thinking over words that she can rhyme together.

Dawn:"Uh...see past the lies...lies..pies, cries, skies, eyes...eyes! Enchanted eyes? See past the lies and enchant her eyes? No...uh...almost...show the unseen...allow the unseen to be shown? Hmm.."

She frowned as she mumbled possible verses softly out loud, then her eyes lingered over Cat and Rogue's hands, the girl who hasn't made her dislike towards mutants a secret seemed to really care about what happened to Jennifer..

Maybe the girl didn't know that Jennifer was a mutant? Should Dawn mention something...what if the girl suddenly found out and was crushed by the discovery and hurt that Rogue hadn't told her she was a 'freak'.

Dawn:"Cat...I know you're not really...fond of us...it's just I wanted to say...thank you for caring about her."

Dawn’s hands reached out for Catherine’s hand that held onto the Slayer's, gently wrapping her fingers around both and holding the hands slightly above Rogue's chest. Closing her eyes as she began to speak, a slight blush hitting her cheeks as she spoke.

Dawn:"Three together and all alone, command the unseen to be shown, allow her to see past all the lies, enchanted are her new found eyes.."

Eagerly Dawn looked down at Rogue, waiting...hoping it worked, at the same time placing her right hand on the side of her head as a dizzy spell hit her.

Dawn:"I'm so not used to doing that.."

The Slayer's lips broke into a faint smile.

Rogue:"..Hey.."

But her eyes remained closed, and although she struggled to remain awake, the slayer seemed to fall unconscious once she was aware she was in the safe presence of others.

Dawn:"Uh...I have 'O' type as well, when they get the...you know...machine thingy...we can both give her some our blood...that way you don't get overly drained.."

As the security guards entered the room, Logan took one while the other went directly towards Chris and the 3rd made his way towards Rogue and the two other girls, the Nurse blocking his path as best she could.

CATHERINE
Obeying the nurse Cat placed her hand on the slayers forehead, feeling relief sweep through her that the slayer was showing signs that she was still alive more than simply breathing. Her skin was cold to the touch ... it wasn't fair why did Rogue had to die in the darkness of this world, she wanted at least to see the sun. There was a fierce hatred for demons and vampires building in her chest, it was there fault her friend was dying and that she was in this dump of a world in the first place.

'Cat...I know you're not really...fond of us...it's just I wanted to say...thank you for caring about her.' She glanced up at Dawn, looking away directly and shrugging, she didn't know what to think anymore. She didn't mind the three of them anymore ... now she knew they weren't planning on killing her

She knelt, feeling the cold hardness of the floor bitting into her knees but not bothering to move. She ignored the others unless they actually spoke directly to her, why couldn't Rogue see her she wondered as Dawn spoke, none of this made any sense. Feeling a sudden sense of relief flooding through her as Rogue spoke, the next moment she saw the figure of the security guard loom over her. She tightened her grip on Rogue's hand, she didn't want to fight anymore, she just wanted to go home.

'You cannot stay here ... you must leave ... please.' One of them said aiming his question at noone in particular but glancing in the general direction of Rogue and Cat who were beginning to make themselves look at home if that was possible ... at least they looked like they were settling in where they were for the time being.

Cat's eyes jerked upwards, her old defiant air around her, wiping her eyes dry on the back of rather bloody hands and not doing much to improve the air of dishevelment around her.

'If you want us to go, you'll have to remove each one of us kicking and screaming and were all either mutants or witches.' She added the last part as an after thought glancing across at Dawn. 'I for one am going nowhere.' She slipped back so easily into the sulky teenager routine so long in perfection and glaring at the doctor who stood being him quite plainly indicating that it would take a crowbar to remove her. She just couldn't understand why they didn't just patch her up at least or give them the equipment to do what they could for her. This mutant thing had it's upside she decided as she saw fear flickering in his eyes, she actually looked quite intimidating, half covered in blood, her hair a tangled mess, her beautiful face twisted in fury, though the fact that she had a gun in the back pocket of the combats and an elegant knife stuck through her black belt probably had the biggest impact.

SEAN
Sean watched as Logan and Dawn performed some kind of ritual, and as soon as the flickering blue was seen and the field disappeared Sean re-cleared his mind. Again he felt all about him and in the fury and desperation that filled his body his eyes glowed with an even more intense orange haze, the bird-like call ringing in his head again for a second, and for an instantanious second the image of a Pheonix appeared in his minds eye.

But as quickly as it came it had gone and Sean saw as one of the hospital guards ran for him as they heard the orders he had been told, he swung a hand out towards the guard, palm outwars and fingers splayed and a near invisable force eminated from his hand knocking the guard away from him and into a pile of surgical equipment on the other side of the room.

Sean quickly turned his attention to the blood machine with the intravenous tubules hanging from it, he quickly grasped it with his powers, rose it a few inches from the ground and pulled it towards him, he could feel his energy draining but he urged himself to continue. The cart and machine flew through the air, samcking a guard on the back of the head as it floated quickly over Rouge, Cat and the Nurse, landing close on the opposite side of them ready to use.

He watched as more guards appeared to assist in the groups removal and Sean saw one way of protecting Rouge and the others, but he had to keep his energy up;

"Dawn get close to Rouge, Cat and the Nurse, quickly! I can hold a shield around you while the blood is transfused, but if you know any spells to help increase my energy it would be hugely helpful so that I can hold the force for longer, I am still not fully trained as my mother is, my powers are weakening slightly with their use.".....

CLAY
Clay looked a little startled but kept his focus as he answered with only a brief glance over at Dawn.

"Sure it's possible. More difficult since I don't know their powers but I'll do it," Clay said with determination.

He focused on the mutant guards ahead of him, near Dawn now and carefully let some of his power escape him, geering it towards the guards.

Clay felt it the moment his power was working, its invisible force rendering the mutants powerless. He maintained control and without turning his head, lest his focus be interupted, called to the others.

"Okay I've nulled them."

SPIKE
They way Lynn offered a human as currency, as a way to see Angelus, as a toy, a human, an object...not a person any more...just an object...

He couldn't take the thought, it wasn't right, he knew it wasn’t right, he'd never cared about it before, not like this, it never hurt him so much...why did it always have to hurt? Pain, always pain, he didn't want to feel pain any more, he didn't want to see anyone else in pain, why couldn't there be no pain? For once...just for once...a day without pain...

Spike had gone into a fast sprint after people seemed to keep throwing him glances if they passed anyone on the streets, he'd charged ahead of the others. He could hear them behind him, he wasn't too far ahead, but he just so desperately wanted to get to the Slayer so he could get away, just get away from all this darkness, he couldn't stand it any more.

He already felt like he was falling apart, he just needed to find the missing people, and then he could go away again..

He paused, the presence of the Slayer extremely close and yet...he could see nothing, but Spike knew she was there...he just couldn't see them...might be a spell....or she's hiding?

Spike:"...Rogue?"

He looked about nervously, his yellow eyes still scanning the area carefully, he placed a hand over his new black shirt, and he’d been taking excellent care of it. It was just a shirt, but Angelus would always say Spike never deserved to wear clothes, he was an animal, and animals don't get to wear clothes. In Spikes mind, wearing a shirt was like wearing a costume, it fooled people into overlooking the monster, the animal he was...helping them see the man...the man he used to be..

Allowing his hands to drop by his side as he uncomfortably looked about and called out a little louder, at the same time he shifted back into his human form. He didn't want to worry her, since normally he only vamped out when fighting or...scared...frightend or...angry...And he didn't want her to think he was here to fight.

Spike:"Slayer?"

He called out again, his now hazel eyes still eagerly looking for the girl who had once risked everything simply to give him a chance....he failed her then, he owed her now, and he was going to try and pay her back, he didn't want her to die...

CATHERINE
Her ears seemed to prick up as her slightly heightened senses heard the sound of footsteps outside, she looked from Rogue to the door and back again, making up her mind. She placed Rogue's hand carefully upon the ground next to her, and got to her feet.

The others in caught up in a confused babble apart from Chris, he also seemed to glance towards the door, his eyes alert.

'Rogue?' She heard over the noise of the others, singling out the strange voice, though she was sure she had heard it before. She didn't even realise that she had pulled out the gun, but she felt more secure with the lethal weapon in her hands.

She made her way quietly to the door, standing quietly behind it for a moment ... what if it was a friend and she was keeping them out there or even worse she was mistaken and it was someone who needed medical attention ... someone just like Jennifer.

Taking a deep breaths he pushed the door open, rather more quickly then she expected, a neon light fizzed on and off in the distance and a lamp post which leaned at a crazy angle illuminated the dark street ... but her eyes landed upon the man. There was something about him ... she'd seen him before, she saw him glance over at her. His eyes yellowing and his face vamping out infront of her. She recognised him at once in his true form, the vampire who had so callously thrown her from her world into this nightmare city.

'Where she goes, Death follows, we won't bring death into a place of healing.' She understood now ... why they hadn't wanted to treat Rogue, she was just a demon magnet.

'Look, if a demon arrives I will take full responsibility and kill it before it does any damage.' She heard Chris' words again, if she didn't do something he would. The vampire was moving quickly towards her, she could see his eyes searching over her shoulder ... she felt a strong desire to protect Rogue and the others, he was a threat, he wanted to harm them, she'd have shot a wild animal ... he wasn't human what was the difference ... he was dead, she knew he wouldn't die unless she hit either his heart or his head and the changes of her doing that were remarkably slim.

She didn't remember clipping off the safety catch or actually aiming the gun at him, but she did remember fear in his eyes. Her hand wavered and then she remembered all the men women, and children which he would have murdered in cruel sport, her own face angry ... was everyone against them, even the doctors.

It was a miracle she actually hit him, an even bigger astonishment that it was a relatively good shot, she heard the shot echo around the streets ... what if he did die she thought angrily ... it wouldn't be the first time she had killed someone only this time it would be her direct fault. He seemed to stumble backwards slightly.

It was hard to say who was more suprised the mutant or the vampire, she stepped backwards herself, one pace watching him from dark eyes. The gun dropped to her side, still clentched in her hand incase he was still going to attack them.

SPIKE
The movement of Catherine went unnoticed until she had actually stepped out of the doors, her slim figure covered in fresh blood. Spike's eyes widened slightly, paying no attention to the weapon in her hand as worry over if she was hurt hit him. Fearing there was a fight, fearing someone was hurting them, he seemed to instinctively vamp out once again, his yellow eyes looking over her, trying to look past her where she had came from...was something in there hurting them?

He took a step forward, but her arms rose, the silvery weapon directly pointing at him, a flicker of fear striking his face as he realized what she was about to do. He paused, slowly raising his right arm to show he was unarmed, wanting to ask her to lower the weapon, the words where unable to leave his lips..

With a loud, deafening blast, Spike could feel the burn of the bullet striking his left shoulder, close to his heart, his body staggering slightly backwards from the shock as he stared at her. Watching as her arm lowered to her side, both he and her still staring at each other, but slowly, as Spike's face returns to its human form, his hazel eyes peer down at the wound.

As if in disbelief, he looked back at her, but his eyes, his human looking eyes, they where filled with pain, fear, confusion and most of all...they fought back tears that seemed to swell from the mixture of emotions and pain he couldn't fully understand.

His right hand slowly reached for his wound as he continued to look at her, the weakness he had been feeling all day taking it's toll on him as he stumbled backwards, falling to the ground. His eyes looked over the ground in front of him, an air of panic forming, the feeling of fear...uncertainty....what happened?

It was another moment before he could muster the courage to look at his shoulder again, his fingers gently touching the bullet hole left in his shirt.

Spike:"Broke....broke the costume...broke the man, no more man, just a monster, broke the man...costume doesn't work, she saw threw the costume.."

He leaned forward slightly as he sat on the ground in tears, the quiet sobs trying to be hidden as he lowered his head, the fingers of his right hand covered with his own blood.

Spike:"Gotta help, gotta help'em...no...doesn't want a monsters help, can't see the man, not a man...man died, stop feeling like a man!"

Placing two of his fingers in the tare caused by the hole, he pulled at the shirt, his strength easily causing it to rip, taring the cloth right down the center. Placing his fingers around the collar area, he ripped that as well, pulling the torn, partially bloodstained cloth off his body.

Spike:"Was my...was my costume.."

He cried tearfully as dropped it beside him, but then her looked back at Catherine, staring at the weapon in her hands.

Spike:"No! No please! No more pain! No more! Already dead, why won't they stop killing me!"

Terrified of the girl, he struggled to get to his feet, backing away from her, cradling his wounded shoulder as he watched, almost as if expecting her to hurt him again.

Spike:"No more, leave the monster, leave him, they always say live and let live, let him die, when the world you live in makes you give in and cry, say live and let die. Let die, let me die, why won't they let me die?"

With fear consuming him, to scared to stay in her presence, he had to go somewhere, anywhere, had to get away from her.

Spike:"Stop hurtin' me.....stop....broken, it's all broken, mind, body, soul, all broken.....costume, broke my costume....pathetic, gotta be punished, can't hurt people, pathetic, gotta be punished!"

Without waiting for the others, he run off, hurrying across the street, rushing away from yet another tormentor that haunted him. The only thing in his mind, the only place he would be safe from humans, the only place where he could be alone...he had to go home.

CATHERINE
Cat looked at him horrified as he changed back into the figure of a man ... how could she have shot an unarmed man ... how could she ... what sort of a person was she. She was suddenly ashamed of herself as she watched him sob, how had she got to be someone who could do a thing like this. She blanched and turned a shade of white which would have rivaled that of the people who had lived all these years without the sun.

'Broke....broke the costume...broke the man, no more man, just a monster, broke the man...costume doesn't work, she saw threw the costume..' There was blood rushing to her head and the ground seemed to sway under her ... what was he talking about? it took a few second to click, his t-shirt, she timidly took a step forwards, catching sight of the red X on the front ... why was he calling it his costume? She watched dumbly as he tore it from his body, looking at his muscular shoulders.

'Was my...was my costume..' That ... made her feel awful, like a girl who has broken a small child's toy, why was he behaving like this ... like he was insane.

She watched as he stumbled away from her, suddenly knowing how he must feel, like when she had been cornered by those men. She wanted to say something ... anything ... better than that ... to turn back time.

Cat took several steps forwards, then hesitated, she couldn't go after him, Rogue needed her, if he could run off like that he couldn't be too badly hurt. She stared after him for a moment then glanced back at the door she had passed through. The steetlight above her suddenly went out, plundging her into darkness, lit only faintly by the flickering blue neon sign located half way down the street which faintly bathed her dejected and confused figure in a gentle flickering blue light. She glanced wildly around her, she didn't like the dark, she jumped slightly as her keen eyes caught sight of movement out of the corner of her eye. She backed away slightly into the gloom of the street, were they more vampires? Her hands shook slightly, trying to quieten her breathing, but who ever it was must have seen her before.

Re: The Renaissance Hospital - Wounded
ROGUE
"Stop!" Everything had happened so fast. This girl stepping out, shooting at Spike which led to he running away.
This girl... Rogue knew her.

"Stop!" she repeated addressing her and turned to the agent.
"Riley, tha's one of our students, righ'? Do whattcha think's right, ah gonna speed after our hurt vamp... tha's what ah'm here for anyway"

With that, the southern belle lifted herself high into the air to have a better overview and flew into the direction Spike had vanished to.

"What now, boss? Shall I help her or stay here?" Kane asked, keeping the sarcasm in his voice at a minimum. Taking orders from this man sure would seem weird; after all, Riley hadn't acted very leader-like as to yet.

MURRY
Murray had followed the group over here but said the nothing the whole way. He hadn't felt anything in his world but here things were different. The whole world with it's endless night and horror movie looks seemed ominous and Murray wasn't quite sure what to make of it. He did know though that he wasn't now feeling indifference.

His first words were those that could have come out of Captain state-the-obvious's mouth but they were words nonetheless, a rather big feat for someone like Murray.
"I know some of these people," he said simply but with the slightest hint of emotion.

"Okay we're playing follow the leader right so let's hear it Riley," Murray said quickly glancing over at the Commando type. "What do we do now?"

RILEY
The agents blood had run cold as his eyes watched a girl fire her weapon at Spike, but he couldn't say anything...not when he realized it was Catherine. Her body...all over her, even her hands, blood...her blood? She didn't appear hurt, but she was confused, he could see that, upset, unsure, Riley was partially snapped from his gaze by the calls of the others.

Riley:"Follow me."

He hurried towards Catherine, but his pace slowed as he approached her, his eyes looking up at her from where he stood.

Riley:"Catherine....Cat...we're taking you home."

Without taking his eyes off her blood stained clothes, Riley ordered the other two boys inside.

Riley:"Go in, see if the others are ok, tell them we're getting ready to leave, if any of them are wounded...help them out."

He waited for a moment, trying not to look at the blood on her clothes and focus on her eyes, his movement slow, careful, his hand gently reaching out and pulling the weapon from her fingers.

Look what he did to her...look at the world he invited her into? She was here...covered in blood...because of him.

When he first saw her, she was angry, and...angry...now she was lost, scared, uncertain, confused, shocked, as well as most likely very, very angry.

Riley:"I'm human, humans make mistakes, what I did to you is a mistake that I'll never ask you to forgive me for, but Spike, unlike me, wasn't able to make his choice on his own. He helped us find you because he now realizes what he did was wrong. What I did to you was wrong as well, but the offer I promised still stands. Only...due to coming here, I'm not going to be around any more, which means you'll be safe from any more mistakes on my behalf."

Taking a step towards the doorway, but continuing to face Cat as he spoke, not letting her get a word in incase she went to slap him and stormed off before he was able to tell her everything. He left Angela some extra notes in the folder he had given her earlier in the rec room, he just hoped he wasn't bothering her too much with his requests.

Riley:"I've asked a friend to give you what you need for the trip and her boyfriend will drive you to the airport. One way ticket to Washington if that's what you want, I owe you that much, he has your ticket already, a girl named Lisa has your holdall safely in her room."

Looking into the room, watching as a large man loomed over Dawn and some other girl who seemed wounded, Dawn's hands franticly trying to get the man away from the girl. Riley's arm rose slowly, his weapon aimed at the stranger who dared cause his friend to panic in such a way.

Riley:"Back away from the girls sir."

He warned in a threatening tone, the guard nervously looking at the boy and slowly began moving away.

Riley:"One last deal Catherine? First we get you all back to the Institute, then you can slap, kick, punch or scratch me as much as you want. Can you tell me what happened and who's Dawn protecting?"

CATHERINE
'Catherine....Cat...we're taking you home.' She looked at him from tired eyes, was it him or was she just imagining this ... yes she wanted to go home, she watched as he approached her, felt his fingers brush against hers as he removed the gun from her hand. She tilted her chin to look up at him, she hadn't realised how much larger he was than her before. She resisted the urge to grab hold of his legs around the ankles and sob with graditude.

'Only...due to coming here, I'm not going to be around any more. What was he talking about? her brain seemed to have stopped working and she could only stand and watch him.

She watched as he took a step towards the doorway, her eyes following his movement ... was he going to vanish off again and leave her? Of course he would, no one ever stayed ... they all left, it was just a matter of time. She looked like she was about to step after him but remind where she was. Feeling like a child being reprimanded for steeling from the cookie jar, a seething, twisted pit of guilt in her stomach. Why didn't he just yell at her, it would have been better than understanding and pity, she hated pity, she always brought things upon herself so it was only fair that she pay for them.

'One way ticket to Washington.' He bought her a ticket to Washington ... why had he done that? She hardly knew him ... she eyed him warily, she didn't trust him, people didn't do things like that ... they just didn't.

She realised Riley had spoken again, she was too tired to argue with him, she would have been glad for someone to tell her what to do. He was being all commanderish all of a sudden... were all these people in X-force? she wondered looking up at him, she still didn't move, but looked down at herself covered as she was in blood.

'Rogue.' She said still not looking at him. 'She ... she ... they stabbed her ... the rock demons' She looked at the tips of her now blood splattered cat boots realising she couldn't be making much sense. She closed a protective hand over the knife still in her belt, if he wanted this he would have to prise it from her cold, dead fingers she had promised to look after it. She didn't want to punch him, though for a fleeting moment she thought stabbing him could be satisfying but a quick glance over at Rogue changed her mind. She just wanted to go home, she wanted to be angry, but she seemed to have run out of anger for the moment, so she just stood there looking bewildered.

She didn't like Riley much, he was too ... proper and was one of those people she suspected had a perfect life. It was mainly because she compared themselves to people like that and found herself wanting. However at the moment she felt she could overlook that since he had come to take them home, her head was pounding painfully behind her eyes, she just wanted to curl up somewhere safe and sleep ... preferably for a long time.

TEMPEST
No questions, no hesitation, just a nod and almost soundlessly, Kane entered the hospital. A quick glance around told him hardly anyone of the people inside would be much of a problem in combat situation, however, currently this didn't seem likely anyway.

From Riley's glance, he guessed that this girl kneeling at the hurt one's side belonged to them but who else?
"Anyone else hurt?" he asked although it was rather obvious that no one except for the lying one was in imminent danger.

"We're here to getcha back into our world" Although looking mainly at Dawn, his eyes wandered around as well. Obviously, Riley was needed to find the ones belonging to them.

RILEY & DAWN
Closing his eyes for a moment, a conflict surging within him, comfort her knowing she wanted nothing to do with him, or give her space and leave her be?

Riley:"I'm sorry for doing this to you.."

Before he could make up his mind on what he was going to do, Dawn basically tackled him from nowhere, her entire body trembling as she wrapped her arms around him.

Riley:"Dawn!"

Dawn:"She's dying Riley! She's dying and none of them are helping her! I missed you so much I missed you so much Riley! I thought we'd never see you guys again!"

Riley's eyes looked into the room, looking over Sean, Clay and the other's, what happened to them? They looked a mess...The girls where covered in blood, well..only Dawn's hands, Cat was...soaked..

Dawn:"Please Riley, take us back, I just want things to go back to how they where, please, we planned on going to Salem, can we go Riley? Please..."

For a moment Riley looked extremely uncomfortable, something Dawn had said caused him to frown and look away down the street that Rogue and Spike had disappeared down.

Riley:"I'm sure Angela and the others can take you Dawn."

Pulling her teary eyes away from his chest, Dawn looked up at him.

Dawn:"...Does...does that mean you don't want to come with me?"

The tone of her words seemed as if she was hurt by his comment, after all she's been threw, and he didn't want to go out with her just to make her feel better..

Riley:"No it's, I mean...yes I do, I would...but...I can't."

She pulled away from him slightly as she frowned.

Dawn:"Can't? Why can't yo-"

Riley:"Dawn this isn't the time, let's just get you all home."

Dawn:"No! Not the time? Now is the perfect time, look at Catherine, you where all polite and sweet to her before. Now she's covered in blood, my sisters dying on the floor, and you say this isn't the time to discuss you not being there to support us?"

The Agent gave Dawn both his guns, the young spell caster almost drop them from the shock of having them almost shoved into her hands.

Riley:"It's not the time, because I have nothing to say Dawn, I told you I'd probably be leaving one day a it just so happens that day is today."

He pulled off his coat and - without waiting for Catherine’s approval - placed it over her shoulders, for a moment, his hands lingered on her shoulders.

Riley:"I didn't have time to find you an apartment or a job Catherine, the ticket was the only thing I could do to help keep my promise of helping you get home."

Dawn:"Wait.....you're going to Cat? Is anyone staying?"

The girl looked between Riley and Catherine, then hurtfully looked into the reception area again.

Riley:"Dawn, come on, get the others, we're leaving."

Dawn:"My sister.."

Riley:"Daw-"

Dawn:"I'm not leaving her.."

Allowing his fingers to gently slip from Catherine, he walked into the room, slowly and carefully knelling beside her to pick her up.

Logan:"Hey! Get away from her!"

Moments later, Riley seems to be grabbed from behind by the Watcher, pulling the Agent away from his Slayer.

Riley:"I'm here to help!"

Logan:"Likely bloody story Finn!"

Riley:"You don't....Finn? Ho-"

The Watcher basically threw Riley to the floor, but the Agent managed to stay on his feet, staggering back up just in time to block a punch from the Watcher.

Riley:"Hey! Back off!"

Logan:"I'm not letting you hurt her!"

Riley:"Dawn wanted me to take her!"

Logan:"Dawn doesn't know who you are, she doesn'-"

Easily dodging another punch, Riley grabbed the Watchers hand, then twisted him around and held him tightly from the back, easily restraining the Watcher.

Riley:"I went to school with her!"

Logan stopped struggling for a moment, looking back at Dawn who was at the doorway.

Logan:"Oh right...you're from the other world...take her back with you."

Riley:"Who is she?"

Logan:"The Slayer."

Riley:"The Slayer!"

Riley looked back at Dawn.

Riley:"We can't take the Slayer, this world looks as if it needs her!"

Logan:"This world is letting her die!"

Releasing the Watcher from his grip, Riley frowned, looking at her with uncertainty.

Logan:"If she stays here...she dies, please, just tak-Are you alright?"

As the Watcher talked Riley gently placed his hand against the side of his head as if he was experiencing a mild headache.

Riley:"Pick her up, we'll take her, we don't have time for this."

He hurried back outside to Catherine.

Riley:"We're leaving, have you all got everything?"

CATHERINE
'I'm sorry for doing this to you..' She looked at Riley, no he wasn't people were always telling her they were sorry and they weren't.

'I'm so sorry Catherine.' The teenager looked hurt at the words.

'But your the only family I have.' Her words were filled with hurt as she looked at Dave's mother, her Aunt.

'I would if I could, but I can't, I'm really sorry.' Catherine looked like she'd been slapped, her eyes filled with anger and hurt.

So your going to let them take me three thousand miles away ... I don't ... I don't wanna go, please don't let them take me.' She wasn't one for begging, but she really, really didn't want to go ... not to the new world ... America ... Washington. She knew she'd never see any of them again, she'd never afford a ticket back and they didn't have enough to buy on to come over and see her. Her hand's were clenched into fits by her sides, her face white and strained, she been crying.

'I'm sorry.' Her Aunt wasn't even looking at her now, as if she was too disgusted by the child infront of her, where in reality she couldn't bear to look in her eyes and see the girl's hopes be dashed. There was a choked noise and Catherine spoke through fresh tears.

'You don't want me, you don't love ... I hate you.' I hate you ... it was the first time she had uttered those words, they got easier each time you said them ... there was the sound of footsteps, the slamming of a door ... her Aunt looked up, bright tears in her own eyes.

Catherine stood dejectedly while Riley and Dawn fought, she didn't want his support, she didn't need anyones support, she'd learnt that you have to stand on your own two feet if you want to survive.

'I didn't have time to find you an apartment or a job Catherine, the ticket was the only thing I could do to help keep my promise of helping you get home.' She felt him slip his coat about her shoulders as he spoke, she looked down at his hands on her shoulders, not knowing for a moment if he was holding her up or if she was standing by herself ... she just didn't understand him ... not one bit.

'Wait.....you're going too Cat? Is anyone staying?' Cat glanced across at Dawn, giving a dry sort of half laugh, half sob but there were no tears in her eyes. She'd been crying inside so long she had no tears left.

'I could never fit in with you lot. I don't, I just can't.' She pulled Riley's coat around her, realising for the first time she was freezing cold, but at the same time knowing she was getting Jennifer's blood all over it. The coat was warm from Riley's body heat, there was something comforting about it, his scent still clung to it, reassuring, she fought back the urge to copy Dawn and wrap her arms around him. Just to let someone else do the fighting for her, just for a while, but he hadn't seemed to keen on Dawn hugging him he'd probably just push her away.

His hands slipped from her shoulders, she swayed for a second but stayed on her feet, she stared at the ground as she heard the sound of angry voices .. the whole world seemed angry, it always was, people were always yelling ... teachers shouting, why hadn't she done her essay? ... Anne and Roger, yelling at each other ... Bekki and Jon having frequent rows ... her social worker lost it on occasions, why couldn't Cat just comply with them for once? ... and she? she was always angry. She stared over at Riley, she watched him pin Logan's arm behind his back, Dawn was standing at the door watching them ... she was right Riley was dangerous.

She took one step backwards, why did everyone stop yelling and fighting just for one minute, her head hurt, pain pounding behind her eyes.

When Riley hurried out onto the street a minute later the dark street was empty except for his coat lying discarded on the pavement.

DAVE
"sorry i'm late, had a slight problem back there", the voice of dave drifted through the air as he ran up to Riley, avoiding a coat on the floor. he had got through the portal safely, but somehow when he got to the other side he changed into liquid form and ended up as a puddle, something he was not too good at changing back from.

He stopped next to riley, breathing heavier than normal, his sea blue eyes flitting across the people gathered, none of them were his cousin "wheres cat then?" he looked round, his eyes fixing on the coat on the floor, he bant down and picked it up, he recognised it as Riley's, it had blood inside it now, though it couldn't have been there long as it was still a little wet and had not seeped through the fabric totally, his head turned towards Riley a concerned expression on his face "and why is your coat covered in blood"

RILEY & DAWN
The numb sensation of a buzzing sound in his ears was quickly ignored as his eyes fell upon the discarded coat he had given Cat.

Dawn:"Riley are yo-"

Riley:"Where is she?"

His hazel eyes quickly scanned the area, yet he found no trace, for the first time in Dawn's life, she saw a look of panic, almost fear, upon Riley's face. But the young spell caster hadn't even noticed Cat's silent escape, there was really only one place Cat would feel safe...and that'd be back in the apartment...Dawn at least hoped, because the only other choices where the demon bar or wondering the dark streets.

Riley:"We need to find her!"

Dawn's fingers reached out and grabbed hold of his arm.

Dawn:"Riley, it'll be alright, we'll find, but all together, she's fast, and street smart from what I've seen...she'll be alright.."

But his heart was racing as he looked back at the younger girl.

Riley:"No! Dawn, I can't lose her again!"

Both Dawn's hands reached out and gently took hold of Riley's arms.

Dawn:"Riley, she's probably just gone back to the apartment, she's gotta be in shock or something, all that blood Riley, she probably just wanted to wash it off."

Riley:"If she's in shock why is she out there alone? Why isn't anyone with her? Why do I keep hurting her?"

A confused look of anger struck Dawn as she shook her head, her eyes glued to his stubbornly, she couldn't understand what Riley was talking about, and he didn't know her. How could he keep hurting someone he's barely seen.

Dawn:"You haven't hurt her-"

Riley:"I invited her into the Institute Dawn, she didn't want to go in, I offered to take her to her room, she didn't want to go there either! Now I come to help and she runs off because of me!"

She'd never seen Riley acting like this before, normally he was so playful, or joking, or strong, or....he was just....Riley. She hadn't seen him in this state before, she wasn't sure what to say to him, and normally he was the one in her position..

Dawn:"Riley why are you acting like this? Why are you blaming yourself, there was nothing you could have done.."

Riley:"I'm her team leader Dawn, I was in charge of her protection, and as soon as Angelus and the others attacked.."

He placed his hand on the side of his head as he looked off, his eyes once again searching the streets, but even if he was zapped with the chip...how much help could he have been against Angelus?

Dawn:"You got sick again.."

Riley:"She was all alone and hurt and I couldn't even be there for her...I failed her, again and again..."

Dawn's grip on Riley's arms tightened as she listened to him speak, he was blaming all this on himself, as if he was responsible for everything that happened to them, well he wasn't!

Dawn:"This wasn't your fault Riley! Stop beating yourself up about it! We'll get her back!"

Riley:"Back will you be able to keep her?"

He asked as he snapped his attention back at his close friend, but Dawn didn't really understand what he was asking, however the arrival of another boy distracted her for a moment. But Riley, even though the boy scooped up his jacket and talked to him, seemed to totally ignore the boy as he talked with Dawn.

Riley:"Will you be able to stop her from leaving? She doesn't think she fits in here, but back in Washington, Dawn her family, don't let her go back there! I just wanted her to see that you guys where a better family then she could ever have back there... Dawn, she doesn't deserve to be alone any more, not when she has a chance to be with you, not when she can stay with Xavier and be safe, no more fights, no more drunk parents...no more being alone..."

Dawn:"Riley.."

Her sympathetic eyes looked over his face, seeing something inside him that even he wasn't aware he was feeling, but now wasn't the time to discuss his personal life.

Dawn:"Why don't you stay with us longer, ask her to stay at the school, we can work things out.."

But the agent slowly shook his head, no matter how much he wanted to stay...no matter how much he longed to remain with these people who where so much like a family...the Initiative was coming for him. Like it or not...he belonged with them.

Riley:"I can't stay Dawn...they're coming for me...I only found out this morning, I'm sorry.."

Dawn:"..Wait, who's coming? ...Are you in trouble?"

He looked at her for a moment, her eyes filled with worry by the tone of his voice.

Riley:"I'm going back to where I belong Dawn, I should be alright."

The movement of someone next to him caused the Agent to look at Dave, his startled expression showing off far off his mind was when Dave first arrived.

Riley:"Are you alright? I thought you might have gone back.."

'She's probably in shock or something'..His hazels eyes peered at the coat in Dave's hands, his face almost turned pal as he stared at it, his hands instantly reaching out and grabbing it from the boy.

Riley:"I'm not leaving her alone again Dawn! I can't!"

Moving passed Dave, he called out as he hurried off.

Riley:"Dawn, come on! Dave, make sure everyone in there get's back to the graveyard, we're bringing the wounded girl!"

SEAN
Sean watched as the chaos unfolded, people appeared from nowhere, people he knew and recognised from his old school. How had they come here? Could they get them back, questions flowed through his mind like water but he had to hold them back, they were all in danger now.

Sean turned and saw Logan, Riley and Dawn arguing over Rouge's withered body, he quickly spun and kicked a nearby guard across the face before running towards the arguing men.

"You two, look, we've got to move! Logan, you take Rouge, I think I can stop the bleeding for now with my powers, but ill need you to carry her and the others to wathc our backs. Riley, go and find Cat like you said you would, we can't leave her here, we'll meet you at the place in the graveyard where we were brought into this world.

Look, Rouge needs our help Riley, and we can save her at Xaviers, we can deal with the repercusions when we get there, I know her, she would do the same for any of us.

Now, can we go and leave here, or are we all to stay and die?" Sean's voice was harsh and strong, but he had to use it to get through to the men. His deep eyes stared piercingly at them for an answer.

"I can help you."

The voice filled the minds of the three men and as if the air around them began to thicken, the form of a man appeared in front of them. Matthew Rosenberg stood near them and saw shock fill there face, and a look of recognition on Logan's.

"Hello Logan." He said smoothly before talking to all three of them, "I can help you get home, but in return for one thing. I wish to leave this world to, there is nothing left for me here and I cannot return to my family, allow me this and I wiil help you in everyway possable. Surely you know of my strength." Matt stood silently as he watched them, the rucus aroun them seemed to slow slightly behind them with his presence, as if allowing them slightly longer to answer him......

DAVE
"what?" Dave ignored the appearance someone else, to him there was so much strange happening that he couldn't be bothered to pay any attention to any of it, instead he was now next to Riley again waving his hand towards the group of people "you expect me to stay here with these..." he stopped, not wanting to pick the wrong words and insult anybody.

He paused for breath and to think out his next sentence "look, I came here for cat, sure if there are others who need help then fine I will help them, but if the wounded girl you were referring to was my cousin, then she is my number one priority" he paused again to study Riley's expression "anyway, it might be better if she see's I'm here"

TEMPEST
The buzzing sound of electricity started to hum around Kane as Logan attacked their leader.
He had never done this before but strangely enough, he knew instinctively how he could use his power to create small bolts which would have been able to get this stranger away from Riley.
A moment later, the tense situation was gone and the static field died away. Waiting for commands and feeling strangely useless, Tempest stood next to the wounded girl watching the scene.

As Riley ran away this other girl following him, the white-haired mutant couldn't believe it.
His face surely showed his surprise since he wasn't able to hide it this time.

*What kind of leader leaves his team behind just like that?!* he thought but said nothing about it. Instead, he turned to the other young people around and said calmly

"Those who were thrown in here by the vamps, follow us to the graveyard... please"

This young man that suddenly began to play commando boy, he ignored fully as did obviously Riley who didn't seem to react to his words either.

He carefully picked up the wounded slayer not bothering the blood that began to dye his clothes crimson while a part of him kept on shaking its head about this odd situation.

Accepting Dave as the co-leader, Tempest turned to him waiting for the order to go. Although the secret agent ran away without listening to his words, Riley had appointed him to be in charge.

MURRY
Murray watched the situation and felt, for the first time in awhile that overwhelming sense of fear he had had the last time he really let loose with his powers. He had thought his world was bad but this one was falling apart and everyone was bleeding and dying. Worse yet there wasn't anything he could do about it.

Nearby the student from their world Murray remembered as Clay looked devestated and helpless. He looked drained physically and emotionally and his normally pasty skin was pale as a ghost's. Weariness was evident in his eyes as he stood. He seemed ready to accept orders from anyone else without a second thought about it and while Clay didn't know who this Riley guy was or from where he had come from the nullifying mutant accepted Dave as leader for the moment.

Overwhelming relief shot through him, revitalizing partially his tired bones. Someone had come for them, they hadn't been forgotten. He could go home now. Home to Tess and Nalani. Home to a world where the blood and death was hidden behind a veil and the public rarely had to see it. Clay missed that world, his home, but knew that this world had changed him. It would be a very different Clay that returned home.

Not far away Murray's eyes were almost haunted as he glanced around the hospital, remembering the time long ago when he had been here. The people lying injured in hospital beds had been his fault then, his powers had wronged them.

The cursed mutant noticed someone walk by though and turned the corner to follow the stranger, feeling somehow rather strangely drawn to him. The man ahead of him was hunched over but he looked roughly the same height as Murray himself though dressed in shabby clothes that stunk of the street.

"Wait," Murray called, more of a command than a request. The stranger stopped ahead of him without turning around and Murray walked faster, catching up. When they were halfway down the hall Murray and the Stranger turned to face eachother...the problem being that the stranger was not a stranger at all.

Murray was shocked as he saw himself mirrored in the other man's face. While the man's hair was shaggy, unkept and hanging in his eyes it was the same colour, the same hair. It was the eyes that truly did it though. The other version of Murray had haunted eyes, like nearly everyone else here he had lived through things no one else could imagine.

"It can't be," the other Murray said and while his voice was fairly calm he looked as shocked as his double was.

"It can be, I'm not from your world," Murray got out after his speechlessness had passed. "I came for some others from our world, they got accidently stuck here."

"They're lucky they have you. If they stuck around here they wouldn't last long," Murray's duplicate said quietly. "You should stay away, I'm dangerous," he added quickly, taking a few steps back.

"How, how are you dangerous? I've seen things like vampires already, things I didn't believe existed before today. How can you compare to them?" Murray asked.

"If you're me then you have my powers," the dupe said. "You can't control them can you." It wasn't a question.

"No, not entirely. I try not to use them," Murray responded.

"I don't have a choice," was his bitter reply. "Long story short I didn't have anyone and they got worse, I was coming to see if anything would help me and some force stopped them. Ordinarily I'd be cursing everything in sight and the hospital would be on fire by now. Look you should stay away. I was leaving for a reason alright? You'll get hurt if you stick around."

Murray imediately understood. Clay, he thought. "One of the mutants from our world is responsible, he nullifies powers. Looks like he accidently nulled you. You should stay nearby until we leave," Murray said. He wasn't normally the helpful sort but how could you refuse yourself help?

"I shouldn't...if he's the pasty one he looks sick enough already. He should rest, there's no point helping me anyway," Murray's dupe said and began to walk away. "Hey Murray?"

"Yeah?" asked the other world's Murray, feeling pity and a choked up sort of sympathy for the other version of himself.

"Get help. For your powers I mean. In your world there has to be someone what with all the rainbows and everything. Find someone, promise me that."

"I-I promise," Murray said and found for once that he had no snarky comment to make and wouldn't have made it even if he did. He had known instantly upon seeing Clay and the others covered in blood that they would return to the sunshine world different people. Now as he watched this world's distorted version of himself walk away Murray knew that they weren't the only ones who would be different upon their return.

SPIKE
Trotting along beside Rogue rather silently as he examined the glass cube in his grasp, the vampire using the sleeve of his leather coat to rub any specks of dust that dare lay upon it.

He gave an uncomfortable groan as he looked at his wounded shoulder, at least the coat covered his wound, and it didn't hurt as much since Rogue took the bullet out. He couldn't help but think over what had happened back at the manor, and thinking over that, he remembered Rogue's glove.

Spike:"Ah, here you go Pet, ya might be wantin' this."

Handing her the glove he had removed from her earlier, he allowed his fingers to stroke against hers as he dropped the glove into her hand. But he didn't let it linger too long, returning his hand to the ancient glass cube in his grasp, making no attempt to explain the importance of this object to him.

Something caught his attention, his eyes looking over towards an empty spot in the street they just passed, his head turning to look back at it as they walked away. He seemed to grow extremely distracted by something that he could see hovering around them, yet as far as Rogue could tell they where alone.

He began walking rather closely to her, but not out of affection, his eyes too busy looking at something that seemed to be following beside him. He moved over to the other side of Rogue, avoiding the urge to look at her, avoiding the urge to yell..

His fingers gently rubbed his eyes before he then gave a startled look at something in front of him, and yet still Rogue could see nothing that'd be getting his attention like this.

Spike:"Stop it!"

He called out in a panic as he stood behind Rogue and shut his eyes tightly, but before Rogue could react he snapped open his eyes and looked ahead.

Spike:"I smell her blood!"

His voice was filled with worry as he dashed ahead, slipping the glass cube into his pocket so he couldn't drop it.

Logan had hurried out of the building, hovering around the young mutant that held his dying Slayer

Logan:"Matt..."

He didn't really give Willow's cousin the attention he deserved, but the Watcher was extremely worried over his Slayer. And the arrival of Spike wasn't something he was keen about either, his voice cold and hash as he spoke with the vampire.

Logan:"Stay away from her."

Spike came to a stop, his hazel eyes looking at Rogue with worry before glaring at the Watcher.

Spike:"Maybe you should stay away from her."

The vampire replied in a challenging tone.

Logan:"I beg your pardon? I think you've gotten our roles mixed up-"

Spike:"Not fond of people beggin'-"

Logan:"Not what you said two years ago when you wanted me to 'beg' for Willow's life, not that it did much good considering her current situation."

A look of sheer loathing hit Spike's face as he glared at the human, but Spike was simply far too fired to find the strength to argue with him. With a hurt expression, Spike glued his eyes downwards towards the ground, showing his submission. But he wasn't as passive as he appeared, the frown across his face currently the only thing seen to show how upset he was over the statement made by the watcher.

The vampire placed his right hand over his ear as he closed his eyes and began mumbling to himself, his whispers seething with anger. All the blood, all the blood everywhere, everyone smelled so strongly of it, and it's the Slayers blood, so much power in it, so nourishing when consumed...

Both his hands quickly covered his face as he realized he was slipping and losing control, he could feel Rogue move close to him. But with a growl, his face turned back into its demon form, his arms dropping by his side and his breathing heavy with anger as his eyes darted over towards the Slayer.

However instead of attacking like every ounce of demon instinct inside him told him to do, he turned and faced Rogue, his golden eyes furiously glaring at the mutant as he clenched his fanged teeth in anger. Bringing his tightly clenched fists towards his chest as they trembled from the rage building up inside of him. Shutting his eyes tightly, his fists now pressed stressfully against his forehead, the sound of Rogue's life pumping and beating away causing more havoc within his tortured mind.

Logan:"You lot are insane in trusting that creature."

The watcher blurted out as Spike seemed to lose control, the vampires eyes slowly opened and stared directly at Rogue, his whisper a harsh and stressed yet apologetic tone.

Spike:"...The Slayers blood, Rogue...it's screamin', it's screamin' so loudly, and he's yellin' at me, and it's not helpin'! It is really NOT helpin'!"

RILEY & DAWN
Dawn's eyes stared at Spike as they approached the group, the vampires true face turned to look at them, his golden eyes staring at Cat with a flicker of panic in his already unstable state.

The vampire seemed to crouch down instinctively, poorly trying to hide himself behind Rogue's legs and out of the girl’s line of sight. His hands gently held Rogue's leg like a child hiding behind his mother, as he watched the two girls walking towards them with Riley in-between them. Riley didn't look well...but he didn't look well before they left either.

Spike:"I hurt her....I hurt her....and she saw threw the costume Rogue, I don't have any more costumes...if I lose this there's only the demons costume!"

He looked down at his chest, which could be seen between the opening of the black leather coat, his face returning to his human form as he forgot all about the Slayer's blood.

Spike:"The flesh is the demons costume...I have to hide it with the costume of a man....but I don't have any more clothes.....am I just a demon now....just a monster....how can I pretend to be a man with out a proper costume..?"

Riley tried to sound as if he was alright, but part of him was terrified he was acting like Spike, mumbling things that made no sense..

Riley:"Rogue, you're back...that's good...you can lead us out of here then...after you."

The agent looked down at Spike who seemed to be hiding behind her, the vampires head tilted slightly as he looked up at the girls. With a startled expression, he quickly retrieved the glass cube from his pocket, worried that it might chip if he was on the ground like this. He held it close to his chest with one hand, but with his fingers of his other hand he had began rubbing at the smeared blood that's still faintly seen.

Something scared him, his eyes looking over towards one of the empty streets, yet again his mind seeing something that wasn't there. But he leaned gently against Rogue's leg, like a scared pet trying to find comfort in it's masters presence.

Spike:"She was covered in blood, did I do that to her? Did I hurt her? Why didn't the chip punish me? Why didn't it punish me....I hurt her, didn't I? I think I did....bad demon..."

With a frown he stared into the glass cube, allowing his eyes to focus only on the dark silver cross, watching the tiny purple stones carved in it glitter like the shattering glass had done in his room.

Riley:"Everyone.....should head back to the graveyard."

He could feel Cat's warm delicate hand in his, and part of him wondered when she put that there...or had he taken her hand? How long had he been holding her hand?

CATHERINE
She inched closer to Riley as she felt the vampire's terrified eyes upon her, looking at her as if she might jump on him at any second and finish what she had started, trying to use Riley's large body to block out the vampire out of her line of sight, she felt better if she couldn't see him. Even so she could feel nothing but guilt for what she'd done, watching him cling on to Rogue's leg ... he really did look wretched.

Cat ignored his words, if she pretended he wasn't there it didn't hurt as much. She caught sight of Dave, she could tell it was him, but he looked taller, he'd filled out ... and was his hair blue?

'Whats that a new fashion statement?' She said looking him up and down, her voice quiet friendly though she showed no desire to hug him or ask him how he was, why should she, he'd just abandoned her ... family were meant to stay together not let you be taken three thousand miles away and not even try and help.

ROGUE
The southern belle gave Riley a nod and concentrated on the currently more important things.

" 's alright" Rogue whispered to the vampire turning to him.

* 's been your choice, gal, now cope with the insane vamp!* the absorption mutant thought self-ironically as she kneeled down to Spike.

"You didn't hurt her" Touching the side of his face gently with her newly gloved hands, Rogue tried to calm him down, bring the fragile sanity she had seen before back again.

"The costume y'have's just fine... c'mon, we're goin' back to ma world... to the light"

She stood up stretching her hand down to him to help him up if necessary. A slight frown appeared on her face as she thought about his earlier behavior on the way here.
Rogue spoke louder than before, loud enough for people around to understand her if they wanted to

"You looked as if some danger was'round... d'you sense somethin'?"

*How touching...* Tempest thought sarcastically knowing that not even very deep inside of him, this was just what he longed for. Someone who cared about him, someone he could dare to care about in return without being afraid of frying this person when his powers broke loose again.

However, at the moment, it felt... stable. Controllable. It was amazing *how* effective the short training session with Circe had been considering that it had mainly been the attitude which had kept him from gaining better control over the elements.
Nevertheless, the white-haired mutant knew that only real combat situations would show him how advanced he really was - and what had to be worked on.

Riley:"Everyone.....should head back to the graveyard."

Now that the secret agent was back, Kane had concentrated on him again. The suggestion he interpreted as a command and began to walk towards where they had come from - the weight of the slayer bothering him just lightly.

RILEY
As her fingers touched his cheek, the vampire seemed to tilt his head slightly, allowing his cheek to stroke against her fingers. Something sounding very much like the purr of a tamed house hold cat quietly escape the creature before she spoke and asked about what he had sensed earlier, this caused him to look up at her.

Spike:"She's followin' me...she know's I'm back, she keeps...she keeps whispering into my ear.."

But yet again he got distracted as his eyes wondered off, the untouchable X-Men went off in one direction, however Spike - on all fours - hurried over towards where he had fallen when he had been shot.

He crouched low, like an animal about to pounce on its pry, his eyes focused solely on the dark lump that was half hidden by the night. With a leap, he grabbed at the torn black item that had once been his prized new shirt, what little blood had stained it was now dry yet he could still pick up it's scent.

Riley:"...Spike, go after Rogue."

The vampire looked over towards the agent, his hands busily wrapping the tattered cloth around the glass cube that encased the silver cross he cherished so dearly. Once the ancient glass cube was safely within the cloth, Spike bit into a part of the shirt, holding it with his teeth as he turned about and hurried after Rogue.

Riley:"We better hurry."

He whispered to the two girls with a shaky voice.

CATHERINE & DAVE
'I'm thinking of dying it brown.' He said fixing his blue eyes onto her brown ones

'Why is it blue in the first place ... blue of all colours Dave ... are you batting for the other team?' She didn’t like blue hair … it wasn’t natural, she hated to see all those people, teenagers especially who dressed like Goths, (who looks more vampire like than Spike did) whitened their faces, painted their nails black ad their hair blue.

'WHAT!!? Me ... gay ... Nooooooo and it's blue for much of the same reason I'm in creepy college and Yankee land.' She looked over at him sharply, he was a mutant to! Suddenly she didn’t feel so alone … it sounded as if he wasn’t particularly too keen on his powers either. He looked at her like she’d grown a second head or sprouted wings … where had the Cat he remembered gone, he didn’t recognise the girl standing in front of him

She muttered something along the lines of ... 'Is there anyone else in my family who's a closet mutant ... frigging English ...' she mumbled off into silence, her face growing moody again, looking away from him.

'Now your question time is over. So it's my turn to interrogate now ...' He said, she could just picture him rubbing his hands together, with one hand he indicated Riley Dawn and her. 'So are you three … together? nah just kidding, so how are you?'

‘Shut it Dave, those are my friends you’re talking about.’ She hadn’t actually meant to say that, but the second half of the sentence just kind of fell from her lips. She looked up at Riley quickly, she wasn’t sure she wanted to be his friend but glancing over at Dawn she realised that maybe the words were true for her, she did like Dawn. The girl kept sticking up for her, she was nice to her. She let her hand trespass for a half a second longer in Riley’s before she pulled away from him, not really caring if he fell to the floor or not. The warmth of his hand lingered for a moment in her smaller one … then it was gone leaving her standing alone, why had she taken his hand in the first place? She couldn’t quite remember but now wasn’t the time for her to wonder … she was angry again, furious that her own cousin should speak so about Dawn … he could say what he liked about her but not about Dawn. The mere idea that she would shack up with someone like Riley made her want to slap David, she didn’t like Riley and the idea of someone thinking that she was with him, let him hold her, let him kiss her, let him … she could feel her cheeks flushing. She stepped forwards, her fists clenched, he realised what she was about to do just before she hit him. Trying to nullify his mind he suddenly splashed to the floor, onto the pavement as a puddle of water. Cat barely saved herself from falling flat on the floor as her punch passed through the air instead of making contact with him, she wasn’t used to her punches not making contact with the desired target.

'What the hell!' She stared back in surprise once she had regained her footing, glancing down at the puddle, she could see his face mirrored, in the water, in a passionate rage instead she stamped on the image, dispelling his face in a wave of turbulent splashing and mini wavelets.

'Oh gee thanks, your really helpful.' His voice echoed up slightly from the puddle, his tone sarcastic.

'Quit it Dave, stop showing off you aint impressing Riley you know.' She fumed, finding she couldn’t hurt him with her fists she tried to mentally stab at him. The next second she made a gasping sound as above her a deluge of icy cold water appeared from nowhere, falling down upon her, drenching her in an instant. She stood in shock for a moment, her hair hanging limply, feeling droplets of water run down her back, wet through.

She saw his figure grow up out of the puddle, his human form taking shape, heard his laughter ringing around inside her head. She just stood there feeling more wretched than she could ever remember since the death of her parents, she’d been dragged miles from her home, told she was something she hated, taken from her own world, almost been eaten by a werewolf, killed by a demon and crushed by a building, shot someone, covered in the blood of her dying friend and now to cap it all off she was socking wet as well. His laughter trailed off into an awkward silence as he realised he’d hurt her,

'Ah … sorry Catherine but you deserved it you tried to hit me you haven’t seen me in four years and the first thing you do is complain about my hair and try and punch me, I can sort it out for you if you want.' His voice was stern, but there was an undercurrent of concern for his younger cousin. Cat stared at him, she wanted to hit him and to scream at him, to tell him this was all his fault because he’d done nothing to try and stop them from taking her away. Instead she turned and walked off, the water in her cat boots squelching. But she didn’t seem to notice

'No just leave me alone.’

He watched her walk, feeling more guilty with every squelch of her boots. She pulled Riley’s sodden coat closer to her, she hated Dave she thought bitterly … she had always hated him, it wasn’t true but it made her feel better. She could feel the hairs on the back of her arms beginning to stand up, there was no heat in this world, no sun to help dry the water, instead it remained icy cold on her skin, chilling her whole body. It was her turn to shiver then, still clutching Rogue’s photos in her hands, hoping the water hadn’t got though the bag and spoilt them.

CLAY
Clay looked a little startled and overwhelmed still with what was going on. Perhaps that was why he didn't even notice Murray walk down the hallway in another direction. At the moment he wasn't really concerned with Murray though.

Clay didn't really understand who was going where, his mind was still too far into a state of shock for that. What he did get was that most people around him were leaving.

Clay, still in a zombie like state, exited the hospital. He followed the crowd of people from his world and hoped that he'd be back home soon.

Re: The Renaissance Hospital - Wounded
(ooc- :lol ...yeeesss...nummy-ness....*Drools over half naked Spikey*...)

Well, truth be told, Riley had imagined their reunion to be more...friendlier..

But he simply watched the fight, part of him wanted to stop it, but as he tried to move forward, Dawn held him tightly, the world spun, and he suddenly pictured himself getting Cat's fist in his face....Dave could handle himself..

Riley:"Cat!"

He stared almost in horror as she was soaked, watching her walk off, the droplets of water falling from his coat to the ground. His gaze snapped back towards Dave disapprovingly.

Riley:"I didn't come all this way to get her and have you do this, I don't want her catching pneumonia or getting a cold, I don't have anything else warm she can wear, she'll freeze here!"

Dawn:"Riley relax, he didn't mean to...I think he knows he was wrong, come on, the quicker we go, the faster we get her back safely."

'How can I care about her Dawn, she won't let me help her'...Dawn frowned for a moment, why would Riley say that? He would help even if the person didn't care about him, it's just who he is...why was Catherine eating him up so badly inside? And what was wrong with him...

'Riley we have to get you back to the school's medical lab!'...Her words echoed in her mind...and Riley's reply haunted her as well.

'So they can tell me I'm dying for no reason they can find?'...Did that mean he knew what was wrong with him and he just wasn't telling any one?

'But she hates me so it doesn't matter, she says it makes her feel better...at least she feels better'...He sounded so sad when he said that, she never heard him talk so negatively before...

Dawn wanted Lisa, she wanted Lisa to do something, say something - anything - Lisa was one of his other friends, and Dawn couldn't handle seeing him like this by herself. If Catherine wasn't here, Dawn would have been in tears every step of the way.

Riley:"We need to find her something warm to wear."

Dawn:"If we hurry, we can get her back quickly, come on Riley."

Riley:"..I should have stopped it, I should have helped.."

Dawn threw a glance back at Dave, honestly, couldn't he have been more tactful? Dawn always hated mutants for that very reason, they'd use their powers without thinking sometimes. If Riley hadn't helped her ease into the school, she would have cursed the lot of them and headed back to Australia without a second thought.

Dawn:"Sometimes you're the one that needs help Riley.."

Riley:"But she's shivering.."

Dawn:"And you're shaking, the perfect couple, let's hurry, knowing our luck, the worlds about to blow up or something."

He whispered softly and under his breath, Dawn barely able to hear it as she placed his arm across her shoulders to help him balance.

Riley:"...She doesn't like me."
