The sound of the large helicopter’s rotor blades slicing the air with steady force was not disturbing but loud enough to follow Rogue’s mind even into its own world of thoughts. Actually they were supposed to be traveling via X-Jet but theirs had some technical problems which had led to the necessity of taking this louder substitute. They didn’t really need to be stealthy though. It felt good to sit there in the pilot’s seat, with every second getting more distance between herself and Spike and all her personal troubles. Maybe this time off would give her the chance to really think about things a little more concentrated yet with enough to do to keep her from getting depressed again. Or so she hoped.
The vehicle was automatically approaching their destination and needed the southern belle only for starting and landing – enough time for… yes, for what actually? Thinking? Considering? Or rather moping? Rogue wasn’t really certain about that but a nasty little voice kept on telling her mockingly that the last one definitely dominated. That and doubts. Had it really been the right decision; had it, had it? What if not? What if the vampire was the love of her life – what irony – the one and she had lost him forever with her spontaneous decision that had felt like the only option left?
Please initialize landing process.
In addition to the blinking message in front of her, there was a soft sound calling her out of her daydream and back to reality. She would deal with it – somehow, sooner or later. Better later. There were duties that needed to be fulfilled and as a team leader, her main task had just begun. None of those inside the helicopter knew what lay ahead, no one but herself. They would get informed soon. It was part of the concept not to know everything from the start, especially not before they had left the Institute.
You could never be prepared for everything that was out there when being on a mission, even in life in general. The times when Rogue had actually wanted to enjoy herself but ended up in a combat situation she had stopped counting; being a mutant, no, being a person with a feeling for responsibility and being an X-Men just got you in this kind of situation a little more often than “normal” people.
”Alright guys, we’re landin’. Hold onto somethin’, tha’ could be a lil’ rough,”
And indeed, the machine was quivering and shaking when the southern belle forced it down while strong winds tried to blow it away – a ridiculous idea considering the helicopter’s dimensions. Still it was like when you flew with a plane. You knew that when it dropped a little, it was still under control… but you had a funny feeling in your stomach anyway.
When the flapping became slower until it finally died, Rogue opened the safety belts that crossed her chest and went up over her shoulders and down behind her slender waist. A look around told everyone to get up and follow her outside. The wind was indeed quite strong and made her long auburn mane with the white fringes whip back while the pleasant salty smell of the ocean seemed to wipe all what worried her away.
A cool sun cast weak rays down onto him which failed to let the ocean twinkle and glitter as it used to do the previous summer. She missed that. It really was time the warmer days returned so she could go to the beach with friends, carelessly, happily. It was about time things got better, wasn’t it?
”Welcome to our training island!”
She had to shout over the wind and the waves, something that would annoy her quickly. There were some larger rocks not far away forming a natural wall behind which they would find it easier to talk. Some things she needed to tell would take quite some time and she didn’t want to keep on yelling when she didn’t have to. Rogue knew that those two days would be tiring enough.
Pointing at their destination, the Silver Strike Force’s leader marched off, one hand keeping her hair out of the face while she used another to keep her balance on the sandy ground that she kept on sinking in to her ankles.
Once having arrived at the rocks, a large one shutting out the wind while another limited the noise from the shore’s surge for there were large stones on which the water broke, Rogue turned waiting for her team to assemble.
”As ah said, this is our trainin’ island,”
she repeated, uncertain whether everyone had heard her words over the noise. ”We’ll spend today and tomorrow here… an’ of course there’s a mission tha’ needs to be completed.”
The details she had been informed about this morning herself. It was interesting – something totally new that she could not remember ever having done or even heard of before.
”All the other main teams are brought to different spots all over the island bu’ Nightcrawler’s Blue Strike Force, Finn’s X-Force and the newly formed teams named Green Strike Force and Exiles tha’s led by Circe are special… they are the prey,”
With an amused smile Rogue let her words sink in. Some may be annoyed at hearing that they would be spending the night, worse, a Saturday night so far from downtown, alcohol and clubs but then again, life wasn’t always fun though she could very well understand the desire to live it at its fullest.
”… or call it targets if ya like that betta. They’re t’be stopped from reachin’ the meeting point… and since we’ve arrived sooner than they will, we’ve got a head start and can build some traps,”
There light anticipation to be heard in her voice as all thoughts about Spike had to make space for the matters at hand. It was like a game… a long game with an immense area to cover.
”There’s gonna be points to score for keepin’ a team from getting’ to their destination or – seen from their side – to actually arrive there. Points’ll be taken – no matter what – for working together with another team. The final score’s gonna consist of some other things but those are the most important ones,”
Her gaze wandered over the faces, wondering what the result would be like but even more curious whether the teams would be able to work together. Garnet surely had some problems with her bunch of misfits… would they ignore any of her instructions or play along?
”Best is we split up into two groups. Ah’ll be switching between ya every now an’ then to have a better overview. Decide quickly!”
There it was, the first command – the official start of the team missions. It felt good to have something to do… it was good to see she was still able to do the job.
Sorry for the shortness, just wanted to get a post done before I moved out!
Setting traps? Dawn sulked as Rogue finished up, she was supposed to go to Harmony University, the school was enchanted so when you look at it from outside the gates it seems like a normal campus.. But once you access it (providing you're aware of it's true nature) the illusion melts away and it's like an entirely new world. Massive acres of land, strange creatures and fantastic people, the magical realm was admittedly a whole lot more fascinating then.. setting traps.
The trip had been a new experience for Talia who had rarely even seen a helicopter, let alone ridden in one, but it was loud and - in her mind - the hole thing seem like a freak of nature that shouldn't be capable of flight. Yet then again, a bee was said to be a freak of nature as well, able to fly when in all logical sense they would assume it to be unlikely for the creature to be able for such a thing due to its body size xompared to it's wing size. Was that correct? Talia lost herself in thoughts on the matter, trying to remember what was said in the book she had read once.
Her tail swayed, a chatter and bustle of movement in the area broke the spell of the day dream and her pupilless eyes (which helped mask her dazed expression slightly) moved to look around as her co-members were splitting into two groups. Dawn seemed to wonder over towards Kalan Murray and Shamilar Creed, another flicking of her tail, Drian Edwards and Aisha Munroe were left and Talia reluctantly moved towards them.
Preferring to remain on her on in a comfortable enviroment or with limited contact with people she has had regular interaction with - or at least regular by her standards, it made the whole idea of being out here with basic strangers very intimidating for her.
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)
(OOC: I love both of your siggies! And for the record I have never flown in a helicopter so I have my doubts about whether or not you could use electronics on them so hopefully we can wave this off and just pass it off as being a modification of vehicles in the future I hope that's alright!)
Drian almost couldn't believe what was happening. Almost. Not so long ago Drian Macneil had been struggling for survival and heading a rebellion against terrors of the night who ruled the only world he had ever known. Now, less than a year later, he was riding in a comfortable helicopter over a world of sun where evils consisted mainly of prejudice, theft and several politicians.
It was a whirlwind change and while the young woman beside him, who had been a sister to him in everything but genes, and been welcomed into this brave new world he never had fit in the same way that she had. Aisha Munroe had friends here and even family if you counted her alternate universe mother Storm. Drian had no one but Aisha and his girlfriend, another thing he couldn't figure out. In his world he hadn't had girlfriends per se. He'd had flings, he'd had connections physically with some girls but it was dangerous to get attached in a place where you didn't know how long you'd be alive. His only true attachment in that world was now beside him, silently bobbing her head to some pop group whose name would be forgotten in a matter of years. She felt his dark eyed gaze on her almost instinctively, a remenant from their dark past where survival instinct had been everything, and smiled at him before turning back to her music.
On the other side of Aisha was the other guy in their group. He too was involved in his music and was so focused on it that he didn't notice the others whenever they moved or spoke. Drian figured his music was different, more hard rock and less bubblegum but still music and he hadn't got used to the prescence of media and music in this world just yet.
After a moment he turned back to himself, the others seeming too involved with the pulsing beat in their ears to do anything else, and wondered. He knew it sounded cliche but he had to wonder if this was all a dream and if it was then when he would wake up. If this was a dream would he mind when he woke up in a world of darkness again, leading others once more into a fight for their lives? Drian couldn't answer that, didn't know if he'd rather be strange in this new world where he had to be a part of a team and fought a very different kind of evil or if he'd rather be fighting for his life in a world where he knew what he was doing and what his purpose was. It scared him that he couldn't in all honesty answer that one simply question. The obvious answer was staring him in the face but he couldn't bring himself to agree with it.
”Alright guys, we’re landin’. Hold onto somethin’, tha’ could be a lil’ rough.” Rogue's voice jerked Drian from his thoughts and he gripped the edge of his seat just in case, watching as Aisha pulled off her headphones and followed suit. It was his first time flying and the sensation of flying high above the earth terrified him in some ways, reminding him of dreams where he had been the one grounded and the eagle had soared above him before coming straight for him. Drian was understandably relieved as the team leader signalled for them to undo their seatbelts and although the relief didn't show on his face he was the first out of the helicopter. As they stepped onto solid ground Drian felt Aisha's comforting hand on his shoulder briefly, a gesture of support since she was the only one here who knew that he wasn't fully comfortable with the notion of flying.
”Welcome to our training island!” their Team Leader shouted over the roar of the wind and the waves crashing against the shore. Her words were barely audible despite Rogue's evident shouting to get the message across and so when she pointed towards a destination that would evidently help to minimize the sound
The trio shuffled their way over, Aisha standing close to Drian while Kalan took his place across the way from them as Rogue repeated her previous words. As she spoke about spending the rest of the day and the following day at this place and began to speak about the mission Drian's dark eyes observed the group. It was force of habit, an instinct he hadn't yet lost from his days when he couldn't trust anyone but Aisha and a few of his closest men and he had always watched his back in those days. Old habits died hard he suposed.
Great, Drian thought when she finished talking about spending the night. He wasn't keen on being a part of team with these people and was twitchy enough as he slept due to the dreams of eagles and chains that had haunted him for so many years. The last thing he needed was for the rest of the team to think he was looney as he writhed, called out and woke up in a cold sweat.
Aisha's thoughts were more the norm. She didn't have a problem with spending a night here and the training possibilities were exciting to her rather than unnerving. Kalan was more or less neutral to the idea, having no urgent plans or any other sort of actvity that requested his prescence anywhere other than here.
Traps? This sounded like a game Drian thought and, being accustomed to fighting for his life the idea of going up against students from the same institute in a game was rather unappealing. Now she was talking about scoring and it sounded like they were going to play capture the flag or some other stupid game he had since learned people played in this world for athletics class yet rebellious or not Drian was willing enough to work with people so long as they didn't expect him to follow under another student's commands or expect him to trust near strangers.
”Best is we split up into two groups. Ah’ll be switching between ya every now an’ then to have a better overview. Decide quickly!” Rogue said, a command from her and Drian's glance immediately turned to Aisha beside him. Seeing as she was the only one he really trusted here the need to be in the same group as her was overpowering.
Drian watched as the other members of his team, Dawn and Shamiliar his mind supplied, gravitated towards the curly haired mutant. That left him and Aisha which was just fine by him yet there was another team member and the blue elflike girl moved towards them. Vaguely Drian remembered her as Talia and thought that of the group she was probably the lesser evil or annoyance to have on their team.
"Hi," Aisha offered, the very picture of friendly interaction and Drain nodded and muttered something intelligible in Talia's direction with little effort. So they were teams now, he thought and wondered what the next step was, when this would begin and what these games would hold for him and for the members of his team.
Across the way Kalan smiled at Dawn and Shamiliar, the other members of the group he now found himself a part of.
"Hello," he said, drawing out the word unintentionally in his usual strange way of speaking that emphasised certain words and as he spoke Kalan wondered what was to come and how this game would turn out.
There was a silent stare in reply to the hi, but the girl seemed friendly, the golden miniature suns turned their gaze towards the male and then looked over her shoulder towards the other team. Connor had mentioned Shalimar a few times, the first time it hadn’t been too negative, but since then he’s been less then tolerable with the Creed’s in the school and their interactions with his sister. At least she wasn’t with that group now she thought about it, Connor would probably ask her how she went in his next visit to keep her company and she didn’t want to say she had to work co-operatively with someone that he wasn’t keen about while he was acting a little strangely at the moment since all the ordeals he has been through recently…
"Hello,"
Dawn gave a smile in reply to the other boy, then glanced at Shalimar and then looked around their surroundings, being popular made it hard for many people to see Dawn getting her hands dirty, but those who knew her well knew the intelligent witch was far more keen on this sort of thing then most would every expect. She lived for the thrill of getting out and testing themselves to their limits, they didn’t do it enough and she had so many spells and new combative techniques that she’d always be dying to test. Drian and Aisha would have no idea that she was the young sister of their worlds Slayer, who in Lost Angels had been murdered as a baby along with Jennifer’s mother when Angelus’s sire set fire to their home while the two where in there and the Rogue slayer was off fighting demons. But they ought to at least recognise her from their very short encounters in the city of Lost Angels.
When the slayer more famously known as Rogue to the people of that world come to this world, she tended to stick to the Renaissance hotel since the watchers council was anxiously trying to get – for the first time – an additional slayer on their forces. Dawn visits her now and then, since in this time Jennifer had been murdered by Angelus (Now reverted back to Angel once Willow had restored his soul), Spike is aware Dawn is part of the untouchable mutant’s team, so the vampire tends to hover around until Dawn tells him that Rogue hasn’t mentioned him – but why would she? It’s not like Dawn really talks with Rogue, the mutant wasn’t exactly someone Dawn has had a lot of contact with in the past few years until she was put onto the team and even then they don’t sit down and chat about their romance lives.
Sure part of Dawn felt like mentioning something to her leader about Spike’s constant pestering to see if she was still interested in him, but if Rogue didn’t want to talk to him why should Dawn force the issue? It didn’t matter – Dawn wondered for that instant how Riley was dealing spending the weekend so closely with Catherine, but instantly pushed those thoughts aside as well – all the potential slayer could do was focus on the here and now. Though admittedly it was hard with Scott Summers being in the state he was, at least Sean’s father didn’t have to take part in all this activity and could rest for a while.
Only what exactly were they splitting into teams to do? Dawn glanced around again, maybe she had missed it, no, wait, they were building traps right? Dawn wondered what kind, could she use spells or did they have to make traps by hand? Dawn didn’t like the thought of having to figure out how to gather things and set traps, simplicity and ease begged for her to be able to use her magic’s for this, resulting in an unintentionally puppy-eyed look showing faintly as she addressed Rogue.
“Um, can we do any kind of traps? …Because I know some harmless spells, it’d make it more difficult for them having to navigate past the imperceptible traps.” Admittedly ‘imperceptible’ was Dawn’s new word for the week, she heard her defence against the dark arts teacher say it when warning about a few vile spells that can linger for years where the have been cast and remain undetectable and unseen unless you know exactly what you are looking for and have the right spells to counter act it.
If Sean hadn’t responded negatively to her arrival at his room that night she went to tell him she was leaving Xavier’s and taking up school in a place more adapt to her skills and abilities (after all, Dawn was not a mutant and Harmony Uni was devoted to witchcraft and wizardry) then undoubtedly she would have left the Institute all together. Truthfully she didn’t want to leave completely, but there wasn’t really any point in staying other then continuing her classes, which deep down she thought a waste since if Tasha or Jennifer died there was a strong possibility that Dawn would become the new slayer and they rarely lived past twenty-five.
The fact he wanted her to stay and the added note that he would always be there to support her if she did leave made her feel happy, their time in the other dimension together hadn’t been a very perfect start to getting to know each other but at least it forced them to interact for once. They knew of each other, Dawn was amongst a popular crowd of people (which Riley had been apart of till Catherine came and ruined his social life all together) and because of the amount of people around her Sean never attempted to approach her. Dawn on the other hand didn’t figure he was interested in someone like her, he was always looking so emotionless and distant, of course once she got close to him she realized that was all a misunderstanding, it was mostly just the glasses that he wore that gave him that lack of emotion since the eyes were a great source of understanding someone’s feelings.
It was forbidden for any of the students at Harmony to use their magic abilities and spells in the human community without justified caused (even then the case will suffer sever scrutiny under the eyes of those on the council at the ‘Misuse and Abuse of Magic’s’ hall. The only time Dawn was freely allowed to practice her spells were at Xavier’s and in Harmony grounds, which were massive compared to what it looks like outside the gates and walls that surround the University. The school sits in another realm that is basically a shadow of earth, they are in the same time and the same space, yet the layout of the world is completely different save for a large handful of human communities (New York, Washington, London, Sydney, Melbourne, all sorts of highly popular towns and cities) where the barriers between The magical world and the ‘real’ world thin out dramatically, enabling the enchanted realm to be accessed via secret routes (giving the illusion that the person is still in the same world but has entered a hidden area instead of a hidden realm).
At first it have confused Dawn a little, but she quickly picked it up and now it makes such perfect sense that she finds it amusing when others have trouble grasping it. One of the gateways is the entrance to Harmony University, but without the proper spells or magical blood, the person will only see the illusion that fools the rest of the world, even if they try and sneak threw harmony grounds to see what’s there or steal something, it would all look perfectly normal, and it would all be completely real, the ancient spells were something Dawn admired greatly and could only she’d ever have so great a talent to perform such a complicated spell.
Dawn wasn’t upset that she was missing out on her Saturday night due to partying reasons, the rest of her class were camping in the forbidden forest that was just outside the school grounds in the enchanted realm. It was really dangerous there so most of them where a little (or very) frightened about it, but Dawn had been a little excited to get to do something so dangerous. What if they met a strange animal? She’s read all about werewolves and vampires and demons since she was young, being the Slayer’s sister as well as a potential Slayer herself, but she’s longing to meet some of the creatures they have in the enchanted realm. There’s rumours going around the school that poachers are hunting down and killing Unicorns for their magical properties, since selling every various parts of the mythical horse right down to strands of its hair for magical wands and blood or powdered bones and horn can be a mini-fortune with a single kill.
Some things were different, like where Hikkory park was in this world, a large community of fairies lived, Dawn knew about it, but only became interested when she met Scott in learning more about it, since in the enchanted realm Scott was a Prince. It made her feel all weird knowing Princes (Alren she didn’t really know well, but met him on a few odd occasions while with Riley) around here they didn’t hold much value to their name, but in their other realm they were known by everyone, Dawn didn’t mention she knew them though – as much as it killed her when others bragged on about important people they’ve met – since Riley told her of the dangers they two Princes faced being so far away from the protection of their people. Especially Scott, there were a horde of goblins and imps and all sorts of nasty creatures dwelling in a part of the forbidden forest closer to the Fairies Kingdom – who’s name was not permitted to be spoken aloud outside the enchanted realm for a reason that eluded Dawn at the moment. The dark horde (for lack of a proper name) were once again feverously trying to over thrown the magnificent kingdom, which would be horrific for the humans since the fairies of the four seasons (one of many precious links that kept the balance of the worlds seasons) lived within the Kingdom and the entire populace would have a magical festival to help summon the change of weather. Granted they were but one link in the long chain, but remove a single link and there is chaos and instability. The wizarding community help as much as possibly with the wild goblins, imps and other mischivious creatures being commanded by an unknown enemy (though they have their assumptions on who might be causing the fairies so much trouble), but everyone has their own problems to deal with, and so many enemies to keep at bay, already their forces are thin, though Dawn heard one of their professors were organizing bringing in a Norwegian dragon from the hatchery his nephew works at, now that’s something Dawn would like to see (At a safe distance back of course)!
(OOC: *lol* yey crossovers, eh? sorry for my lack of posting with the SSF *sighs* and since Shamilar’s player is obviously away… well… spontaneous sickness is always a gooooood choice *nods*
And Angie, remember that the whole Renaissance Hotel thing was just one day before this thread! Or were referring to the time before Rogue broke with Spike?)
“Um, can we do any kind of traps? …Because I know some harmless spells, it’d make it more difficult for them having to navigate past the imperceptible traps.”
Glad someone was showing signs of initiative, Rogue nodded while a smile showed all too clearly what she was thinking. ”Everyone’s supposed t’use all possibilities they’ve go. Just – everyone – keep in mind tha’ we don’t wanna hurt them,”
While the small groups’ members approached one another, Rogue was once again left alone with her thoughts. A situation she had thought to be able to avoid during those mission which – being a team leader – demanded her full concentration… yet not then. Uninvited, the picture of a certain blond man came into her mind. Indeed, this is the disturbing aspect of vampires: Once welcomed in, they don’t lose the permission even after a change of mind. The question being whether Rogue had really done so.
Inwardly rolling her eyes, the southern belle once again wondered why someone her age was behaving like a teenager sometimes, completely uncertain what this odd mixture of emotions and thoughts inside of her were shouting at the top of their lungs. Well, she wouldn’t solve that problem while being out in the wild setting traps, would she? This was certainly not the time for dealing with such matters and so concentrating on her task was probably the better choice to make.
Wildlife seemed to be telepathic. A surprised scream came from one of the group’s direction as when Rogue hurried towards them, the source was difficult not to notice. Hissing in an annoyed manner, a brownish yellow snake -unobtrusive in the sand – left in the other direction with surprisingly quick pace. The curious emerald gaze that had followed the animal returned quickly to the group when a dull sound of someone dropping onto the sandy ground sounded from where she had seen Shamilar standing just a few moments ago.
”Damn!” , Rogue hissed not very unlike the snake and was not for the first time thankful for their advanced technology. A helicopter called via intercom arrived quickly to take Shamilar to the medlab. They would be easily able to take care of her no matter how poisonous the seemingly harmless animal had been. Still, it left Rogue to wonder about what to do. She couldn’t replace her – being the leader, she had to keep an overview, at least in this kind of situation. Probably there was no other way but proceeding as planned.
”Alright, let’s try t’make the best of it an’ see it as the perfect example for an unplanned problem. Go ahead, take different routes inside the forest and set whatever kinda traps ya want. Bu’ remember that you’ve gotta be able to tell the others where an’ of what kind they are… we’re meetin’ here again in one hour. Be on time! Ah’ll be checking the surroundings an’ look out for ya ‘vry now an’ then,”
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)
(Uh, hadn't they been broken up for a while before this thead? Spike's moping about what Rogue's up to without trying to seem tooo obvious that he misses her...)
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)nope *checks* it's actually been exactly two days before the team missions! ^^"
and I actually like the whole thing with Rogue having had to rush off to the missions that distract her from too much thinking... ah, and if I remember it correctly, you even said he'd be following her and such..
------------
That's odd.. I'll edit it later, and oh Spike is sooo gonna pop up..
Spike: See ya soon luv..

Rogue: "Meh, 'n ah thought ah'd finally got rid of him"

Rogue: "Um... *shifty look* .. heeey! Stop readin' ma mind already!"Edited by: 0x Tempest x0 at: 11/22/04 6:32 pm
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)
Dawn's face was familiar to Drian but it took him awhile to actually place it. A face from his past in a sense for she had been in his world, the one he even now felt that he truly belonged to, of Lost Angels. He wasn't good with names and faces though, what was the use of learning them if they were going to die on you anyway? If you learned their names it got personal and in war making things personal was often troublesome. He had learned the hard way after losing one of his closest childhood friends and best fighters in the battle and when Aisha had left, even if she had been sent away by he himself, he had been truly alone. The rebel mutant shot a dark eyed glance over at Aisha, his sister in every way except blood. She was the only reason why he was here now, why he was actually making an effort to tolerate this game that he still viewed as insulting and the people on his team. It wasn't them in particular, it was just him. He disliked social situations and suposed that when you were used to social situations meaning a massacre it made sense to want to avoid people at all costs.
The reassuring hand on his shoulder was Rayne's and he was reminded of the deep connection they maintained. It went beyond blood and romantic love so that they could tell what the other was feeling without any actual empathy occuring. The sky brightened slightly and that he took as a signal from the pathetic fallacy endowed mutant that things would get better and that everything would be okay. The truly strange thing was that he believed her.
Dawn asked some question about using spells and Drian's head jerked up once more. He fought with his hands or with weapons and although he had come up against magic and had had a precious few members of his alliance who knew a very basic spell or two he was mostly ignorant of magic save for that used against him. Maybe it was habit but the thought of it made him uneasy and he didn't favour Dawn's idea of spells at all. For not the first time in this world Drian felt helpless. His abilities were of no use at the moment and unless there was some great danger they probably would not be of any good to anyone so while the others used their abilities he was reduced to manual labour. The memory that the other boy'd powers were also not so helpful kicked in though and he felt a tingle of relief, perhaps he wouldn't be such a team liability afterall.
When Rogue nodded with a smile in response to Dawn's question it seemed to trigger something in Aisha who, by the looks of it, had enough excitement to counter for his lack thereof.
"Um I might be able to help. If I can control my emotions enough I could manage to create a layer of fog, not a really bad one but enough to obscure the traps farther if we needed to..." she trailed off and her eyes seemed to hang in that moment where a person isn't sure if they are going to be crushed or overjoyed as she searched Rogue's face for an answer just before the team leader was about to get them to all seperate.
Drian meanwhile was wondering if by 'seperate routes' they were all suposed to go by themselves or if they could go in pairs if needed since truth be told he was used to and preferred to have Aisha by his side. They made a good team, his calming control helping her powers while she kept him patient and upbeat. Together they were a force to be reckoned with, or at least they had been. Drian refused to admit to himself that weighing heavily on his mind was the mental assault of Loni and his' shared dream, a dream in which he had felt the evil that posessed his girlfriend. It had made him crazy quite literally and although he had recovered physically the incident was still shaking. The precence of another human being was comforting, an assurance that the same event would not occur again so he stood by her side for the response she awaited.
Kalan seemed rather unsure of how to proceed or where although his face didn't show it so clearly. He knew a little about traps but not a great deal and wondered to himself if he'd be able to manage something. Afterall learning to build traps wasn't exactly a huge part of the drama program he was enrolled in. He glanced around at the others, wondering if they were setting out from the group on their own paths. He didn't want to be a follower, someone as different as him certainly wouldn't want anything like that but when the alternative was messing up something which was important at least in the eyes of his team leader and probably a few teammates he wanted to be sure. The one brightside to all of this was that his powers were handy for something at the moment. He could take mental snapshots of the traps wherever he put them and would know exactly where and of whatkind without any sort of remembering being required. Sometimes being a mutant had it's perks.
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)*Shiftiness*...sorry...got totally stuck on how to reply U_U
“Everyone’s supposed t’use all possibilities they’ve go. Just – everyone – keep in mind tha’ we don’t wanna hurt them,” Following up the leaders statement with a grin showed that Dawn was highly pleased with the response, at last she got to use some of her hard learnt spells for something! And she’d have to make sure she didn’t hurt them with any spells, but most were harmless that she had been taught now anyway, she wasn’t of a high enough year level to be taught the more advanced spells… Even if Willow had showed her how to do a few things back when she was younger and Jennifer was still around in this dimension.
A scream pulled both the attention of Talia and Dawn over towards Shamilar, Talia’s first instinct was to go with the girl (after all, once Tal knew Shal was safe, the teleporter could just return anyway) but in the end Rogue had assured the telepath that her team mate will be fine in McCoy’s care. Poor McCoy, Beast was a fantastic physician, but even miracle workers needed their rest! Probably luck enabled the team Beast had been assigned to coincidently be the one remaining at the school. After all, he could have been on any of the other teams, but he wasn’t, so he was able to stay at the school and – Talia hoped – try to get some rest. Actually the blue furred telepath had been thinking a great deal on teams, Connor was a team leader so he talked with her about things when he wanted some comforting responses. Madison was his sister and he adored her just like he adored Arisa, but without the youngest sister around poor Connor’s balance had been thrown off and Madison wasn’t known for her warm fuzzy side – something that Talia definitely had considering she was fuzzy all over!
While Rogue sorted Shamilar out, Talia was once again lost in her thoughts on possible new teams, she’d never suggest them, at least that’s what she thought at the moment, but she had a few ideas on new back up teams. They used to have a recovery team that Connor was in charge of last year and in previous years, but now he’s moved up and formed a new more powerful team. She was envious a little that she didn’t get to be on a team like his, she was sure if her telepathy was stronger she would be placed with an ‘X-treme’ team of sorts… The desire to be on one actually caught her by surprise, until now she was quite sure she’d have preferred to stay in the medical lab and not run around the countryside doing strange odd jobs. But now she understands she can help people out here, maybe that’s helped open her eyes a little more, given her a little hope that she can be of more use to more people who are hurting outside of the institute’s walls.
If there was another recovery team, Talia could be on it! Being a teleporter AND a nurse had to be handy when going out to help others, right? She could get them quickly from one place to another, out of danger zones, help them as best as possible until they can get to a hospital bed and a proper doctor. The daydreaming expression was lost as Rogue’s attention was returned to them now that Shamilar had left for the school.
Be on time! Ah’ll be checking the surroundings an’ look out for ya ‘vry now an’ then,”
When should Talia mention that she’s never SEEN a trap before, let alone know how to build one, her eyes turned to the others in her group before dropping to the floor. They probably knew exactly what to do, she was always the odd one out, just because she didn’t go to school like everyone else… it made her feel really stupid, even though she was intelligent, her medical degree accounts for that. Maybe she didn’t know a lot of different things but what she puts her mind to and studies hard on she learns very quickly, give her broken bones to mend and ripped skin to sew and she can work wonders – even if she doesn’t admit it herself – but point her in a direction and say be useful… that’s where Talia gets stuck.
This was a really horrible idea, she ought to have never left sick bay!! This wasn’t good, the boy would get upset because the other team had more people and in addition they all sounded and looked as if they knew exactly what they had to do. Suddenly that flight home seemed like a far better option, another thought occurred to her as she wondered about leaving, could she teleport off the island? She had never tried to cover such a large distance before, mainly because she never goes too far away from where she is living. There was that one time that she left the school with Garnet… the girl had been upset and Talia wanted to help, despite the fact going to the mall was extremely terrifying… but she did have some fun.
Then that other time she was at A.Corp when she went with the others to get Connor back, truth be told she couldn’t remember a thing that happened back there, all she knows is that there was a man that gave her the chills, and that another man she knows to be called Belthazor was following his orders, and after that there was some thing holding her, and then she was back at the school. Come to think of it, that’s pretty odd isn’t it? The thought had eluded her for all this time, but that was months ago…she did not remember returning with Jean, maybe she could have a word with Madison, it didn’t feel right not remember something like that. She had been terrified in that dark room, how can she have forgotten all about it? A nervous glance to the people around her was given while she thought… all she remembered was darkness and fear, and that she wanted to be back in the medical bay, she told herself she never wanted to leave once she gets back there, and here she was, out in the middle of nowhere.
A shiver ran down her spine, she wished she hadn’t thought so hard about things, now she couldn’t get those images from her mind, and she was worried, maybe something was wrong with her, how can someone forget things like that? It was probably from stress… that’s right, maybe she was in too much stress and just pushed it all to the blackest corners of her mind, she was a telepath, it was possible she even subconsciously blocked it without intending to. It was possible… but why did she feel so much like running up to Rogue and clinging to her until the Southern belle agreed to send her home?
"Well, not that I’m all for teamwork and such, but it might be quicker if we split, I’ll set my traps on my own, not like there’s any point in you tagging along, you’ll be left standing there while I do the work, so maybe when I’m done I’ll come join you and help make some good ol’fashion ones." A mischievous grin flashed from Dawn before she turned and headed off to start plotting good places to set snares, leaving Drian and Aisha to their own doings for now. But the whole prospect of team work was delightful for Dawn (who thrived of socializing in any forms) so she was keen to get her side of things done with as soon as possible to return and join the others.
Talia on the other hand looked more like a cornered animal waiting for someone to lunge at her, panicked thoughts had crossed her mind to just find a nice place to hide until they said she could go home, it was a big island, lots of places to hide, and she could teleport anywhere instantly, they’d never find her. A nice dark place to hide, that’s what she likes running off to, the medical bay was her new dark spot, even though it wasn’t dark in the normal sense of it, the bay was quiet, and when people did come they were usually in no shape to be of harm. If she helped them then they wouldn’t want to hurt her, they’d be nice to her, they’d treat her nicely, some people have been nice to her after she’s helped them, it’s what makes helping others so rewarding, more then making her feel good inside, other people start to be nice to her… Which made her feel guilty when she thought of that, since it seemed selfish, as if she was only helping just so she could have others treat her nicely – or normally.
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)(OOC: As you miiiight have noticed, I don't have the faintest clue how to produce an even slightly satisfactory post here so since Ann told me Tessa got caught in a trap, why not merging the threads? Just assume some hours of trap-building and lying in wait have passed... and I think there was an unanswered question, right? Feel free to make up a reply... I'm extremely lacking creativity at the moment)
Re: The Shore: Starting the Hunt (SSF)
huge leap ahead
There comes an age when people have to take over responsibility. It remains the question whether there is also a time when they can get rid of it again.
