The Ultimate Universe
For as long as people can remember, they've been fascinated with heroes with fantastic powers. Many thought it was all just a work of their imaginations, little did they know, they had the ability to do fantastic things. The first signs of something spectacular originated during the ice age, when, in a flash of light, an entire continent sunk to the bottom of the ocean. Evolution decided to skip steps several times, from a small gray baby in ancient Egypt to those "witches" from the 16th century. People with strange powers have existed for a long time, only to vanish in obscurity.
World War II. Pearl Harbor was attacked and America was thrusted into war. A top secret project was initiated under the guise of Weapon Programs run by Cadmus. Project: Rebirth was created to develop a superior soldier through steroids and experimental formulas in an attempt to create a man with special powers. Unfortunately, only one man was sent through the program due to a fire that eliminated all files regarding the process, and he eventually became a casualty of the war, lost in the Arctic. Fascination with a man with abilities superior to the normal man continued, which brought on a number of projects that continued under the Weapon division. The Cold War was upon the world, and the United States continued to experiment, until stumbling on several people with abilities superior to that of the normal person. The discovery of these so called Meta-Humans remained a government secret, although that wouldn't remain a fact for long.
What was thought to be nothing but a meteor descended from space, crashing in a corn field in Smallville, Kansas. Inside of what was really a small space shuttle lay a days old baby boy. The radiation would then create a ripple throughout the world, triggering a gene that was supposed to not even exist, igniting the first public appearance of the deformed humans, called Mutants by the small population who became aware of their existence, and move government study. Years later, someone who was coined as one of the luckiest children in the world lost his luck when his parents were gunned down after a movie, propelling a lifelong search for justice.
As the Cold War came to an end, public knowledge of Meta-Humans bloomed as they no longer started to develop physical enhancements, but also strange abilities to manipulate the world around them. In response to this problem, the OMAC Project, initiated by Bolivar Trask, had one task: save humanity from the eventual threat of the Mutant population. Around the same time, a man known as Charles Xavier began to gather young Mutants to better educate them on the proper use of their abilities so they could coexist among the rest of humanity. Due to the obvious danger, this was done in secret. Under OMAC, the first defense system was created, dubbed a Sentinel, a 40 foot tall, bulky walking tank. Testing was done in seclusion off of the Alaskan coast, but the facility was seized by terrorists, resulting in the deployment of a top secret task force to disable the terrorists, which ended in the only model of the Sentinel destroyed. Data remained, and was used to better develop the units.
After the turn of the millennium, a World War II soldier was found, frozen in a block of ice off the coast of New York City, prompting his reintroduction to the modern world. An 18 year old rich kid decides to skip out on going to college and leading his parents Multi-Billion dollar company to take a tour of the world which lasts almost five years. With the threat of Post-Human terrorism on the rise, several companies were employed by the government agency SHIELD to develop a formula to create Super Soldiers. One such company was on the brink of bankruptcy, lost all of their test subjects during a lab fire, one of which, a spider, managed to escape days prior, biting a teenager on the hand before unfortunately falling to a rolled up newspaper. Two men in two different business positions tested their formula on themselves, resulting in a drastic change that created chaos in the form of a Goblin-like man, and an unwilling weapon in the form of a hulking creature. Months following, Sentinel's, units Mark II, were deployed in New York City following a terrorist attack on the George Washington Bridge by group of mutants, who were dispatched by another group of mutants. The Sentinel's eventually, due to what was called an "Accidental glitch in programming" began attacking random mutants before being wiped out by the very same group of mutants who saved lives days prior.
As many assume, there is an unofficial war going on and it has two sides. Choose Wisely.
