The arrival of O' Meara
Continued from An unexpected phone call. Med lab.
.............................................

"Don’t worry Security will notify me when you arrive. Oh and you should have no trouble recognising me, my dear. I will be the 350lb blue feline in the lab coat There are not too many of us around.”

That last statement that the man had spoken caused her to pause for a moment. That was one of those things that made a person go 'hmm'. A huge blue cat-man in a labcoat? She most definately didn't ever think in her life that a case like that would pop up in her life where she would be meeting such a person of that description. It was interesting. "Ok.. So a blue cat-doctor man in a labcoat, got it... I'll be rolling up at around noon-ish." She said.

As she set the phone down, her mother rose a brow at her. "Oh come dear, I know you always get nervous about an appointment but there's no reason to be drumming your fingers like that." Catherine stated with an amused chuckle. Tessa stopped, blushing as she realized she hadn't even been meaning to do that. "It's not an appointment, I'm just meeting up with Dr. Mc Coy and discussing some things." She replied, sipping on her coffee. "That's my girl, talking like a professional just like we want you to become." Her mother stated, getting the far off look in her eyes.

Tessa gave a slight grimace at that then stood up. "Um, I need to clear out my schedual for today. I'll see you later Mom." She stated a bit quickly before starting to make her leave. "Don't worry, dear, I know you'll get past this rebellious stage and become a professional dancer, singer, and doctor in your time." Her mother called after her. "But what if I want to do somehting else with my life?" Tessa whispered under her breath as she stepped out the door.

12-ish Noon

Not wanting to make a lot of noise, Tessa supressed the soundwaves around herself so when she rolled up to the tall gates of the institute, the rumbling of the motorcycle was down to a minimum. It was as if someone had hit the mute button and had forgotten to take it off again. But just as she was about to turn the motorcycle off, a loud roar blared out. "Damn it!" She shouted as she quickly killed the motor. Another slip had happened and it had been an obvious one.

Her face flushed to an impressive shade of crimson as she slipped off of the seat and some of the blush remained as she took off her helmet. For a brief moment, she stood there, rubbing her ears which were ringing a little from the sudden noise that had just come then she set her helmet down on one of the handles with her free hand as she looked around. There was little doubt in her mind that many had missed that sonic-boom like racket that had sounded. Just thinking about it made her blush a little again, her feeling the heat creep up to her cheeks.

"Well, here goes." She told herself as she walked away from her motorcycle and towards the doors that stood not too far away. She only paused for a moment before stepping through them and making her way into the front hall where she was to meet Dr. Mc. Coy.

Re: The arrival of O' Meara
It was nothing short of a miracle. McCoy had in fact managed to clear his workload and make it to the front hall in time for Tessa’s arrival At least he presumed that the explosion he had just heard was her arriving. Either that or the school was under attack and since no alert had been sounded he highly doubted that that was the case. It seems she was not exaggerating then he thought with a grin Her powers really do need a little……… fine tuning shall we say Still the noise had raised questioning looks in the eyes of the passing students though they all relaxed again as they saw the doctor looking unperturbed by the whole thing. After all if the teachers weren’t worried why should they be. And anyway ..this was Xavier’s The unexpected was practically routine for them.

So things were pretty much back to normal by the time Tessa pushed open the door and walked into the Institute the motorbike helmet she held indicating the source of the sonic blast no doubt. She had changed from the child whose photo he had been so proudly shown all those years ago but the eyes had stayed the same. *Well well well Who’d have thought that O Meara would produce such a beauty!* Hank thought to himself wickedly *But then she has been lucky She favours her mother. Though she’s outgrown her by the looks of things*

There was no doubt that this was a young woman rather than a child standing in front of him. And one who knew how to make the most of her good looks at that. The clothes while tasteful, they were definitely designed to show off her figure to its best advantage, something which the male students didn’t seem to mind at all. Hank shook his head slightly though his eyes were playful *Yes Sean, I will keep her safe. Though I may have to sedate most of the boys in order to do it.*

But for now he simply advanced with a smile that was as sincere as it was disturbing given the amount of fangs it exposed. He didn’t go to close, giving the girl time to get used to his bulk and appearance. If she ever did that was. Being told what he looked like was a whole different thing from actually seeing him in the flesh. And it wasn’t a white coat and a stethoscope that was going to change that fact. “Tessa” he said warmly “I’m Hank McCoy. As you’ve probably guessed. Welcome to Xavier’s Institute for gifted children.”

Re: The arrival of O' Meara
She had been admiring the scenery of the front hall when her attention was captured and held at a rather large and blue figure that had entered the area. Largeness wasn't from fat that she could tell from... It was from muscle and possably some of it from the fur. He wasn't overly tall either, her guessing that he stood about four inches or so taller than herself.

Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of his fangs as he smiled and at the over-all animalistic look of him but although she wasn't used to seeing such a form as his on an every-day basis, she had come across mutants that didn't look a hundred percent human before... so she recovered swiftly. In the back of her mind, she hoped that her slightly startled reaction to seeing him for the first time hadn't offended him.

“Tessa... I’m Hank McCoy. As you’ve probably guessed. Welcome to Xavier’s Institute for gifted children.” He had a warm and welcoming tone to his voice and his over-all demeaner was a friendly one. Tessa gave him a brilliant smile of her own, the smile showing off white teeth and a slight dimple on her cheek. Her eyes also paled a couple of shades, them becoming the lighter color due to her relaxing some. It was much better speaking to someone face to face rather than over the phone. Now she knew who she was talking to.

"Hello, Dr. Mc Coy. It's nice to meet you. Sorry about just popping up like this, it usually isn't like me to just randomly call up a friend of my parents... but if you know my mother, you know it's her doing."
She stated with a little chuckle.

She was less shy now than she had been on the phone, her confidense having had a little boost after she had foudn that the slip up in the sound control hadn't drawn any yells or odd looks. That and like noted before, it was a lot easier to talk to someone who had a face to their voice.

"I hope I wasn't interrupting anything." She commented. Just ass she had those words out, her cellphone went off. Thinking it'd be inappropriate, she silenced it without a single gesture, continuing on like it hadn't even happened. "I would guess that you might be a busy man, being a doctor and all." She finished.

Tessa got to where she felt that any good doctor would be busy all of the time. After-all, her father was always off doing work or off volunteering someplace. She also assumed that the man who stood in front of her was a good doctor. If not then her mother would have kept from mentioning him. Her mother was like that.

"Um.. I'm guessing that you heard the bit of loudness that just happened with my motorcycle... Well, I've been slipping like that a lot in the last month or so. It's a bit embarrassing..." She said, feeling the heat creep up to her face again as a blush took hold. "... that I'd be having these problems now. I mean, I could understand if it was happening when I first was able to do what I can do but I should have grown out of slip-ups by now." She finished, smiling a bit sheepishly now.

Re: The arrival of O' Meara
If he had been concerned about her initial reaction he needn’t have been. After the inevitable moment of surprise it was as if she had frequented people who looked like him all her life, as if a giant feline was somehow less intimidating than……a telephone for example? "Hello, Dr. Mc Coy It's nice to meet you..” She said with a smile that lit up the room and no doubt further entranced the young men who had suddenly all found a reason to slow down their passage through the hall since Tessa had walked in.

“Sorry about just popping up like this, it usually isn't like me to just randomly call up a friend of my parents... but if you know my mother, you know it's her doing." Ah but that wasn’t a parents prerogative or perhaps even a downright duty Embarrassing their offspring? And this particular embarrassment was all in a good cause, something which even Tessa seemed to recognise.

"I hope I wasn't interrupting anything." she went on before the ringing of a cell phone interrupted her words. But not for long. The music was cut short so suddenly that the doctor couldn’t be sure if it had been a false number or in fact a consequence of Tessa’s mutant abilities. Certainly the girl accepted its silence without blinking continuing her sentence as if nothing had happened. "I would guess that you might be a busy man, being a doctor and all."

Now that was certainly the truth, in fact given how things had been recently it was an understatement. And if anyone would understand the complexities of a doctor’s life it would be this girl given who she had for a father.Hank wondered briefly whether any of Sean’s passion for medicine had rubbed off on his daughter Oh well he would no doubt find out if she decided to stay at the Institute. But first things first.Tessa soon pulled his thoughts back to the matter in hand.

"Um.. I'm guessing that you heard the bit of loudness that just happened with my motorcycle... she said awkwardly.Well, I've been slipping like that a lot in the last month or so. It's a bit embarrassing... "... that I'd be having these problems now. I mean, I could understand if it was happening when I first was able to do what I can do but I should have grown out of slip-ups by now."

“Oh that’s not as infrequent as you may think” Hank reassured her kindly. “Powers have a way of maturing and transforming that sometimes catches us off guard. I can guarantee you that there is not one person here, myself included who has not been ‘confounded’ by their abilities at one time or another.”

It was a diplomatic way of saying that fireballs had a way of flinging themselves across the dining hall and desks of melting into sludge. But then that was something she would discover soon enough if she frequented the students for any length of time. What was essential was that she realised that it didn’t matter if there were mishaps. Not here. What mattered was that there was help on hand to deal with them if and when they did arise.

“It was in part to help mutants like ourselves learn to control their powers that the institute was set up, he explained and as in any teaching environment we are all to well aware that these things can take time. That is why we provide live in facilities for all our students. And why as you can see, he added glancing around so many students find their way here to us.

“Oh that’s not as infrequent as you may think. Powers have a way of maturing and transforming that sometimes catches us off guard. I can guarantee you that there is not one person here, myself included who has not been ‘confounded’ by their abilities at one time or another.” His words were re-assuring and helped her not to feel as embaressed about the whole slip up thing. She still did feel a bit silly about it though, unable to help the fact she felt like she was going through puberty all over again in a way.

She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not about the part where it seemed that everyone here had their issues with their gifts including the furry individual who stood before her. “It was in part to help mutants like ourselves learn to control their powers that the institute was set up... and as in any teaching environment we are all to well aware that these things can take time. That is why we provide live in facilities for all our students. And why as you can see so many students find their way here to us."

At his glance around, she too looked and upon seeing several of the male population watching the two of them, she gave a small grin. Tessa then waved at them and threw a wink in one direction before turning her attention back to the Doctor. She couldn't help teasing the guys a little, it was fun to her. She had to admit, a lot of the time, she liked the attention she got from men as long as it didn't go too far.

"Well, Dr. Mc Coy, it seems that this should be a good place for me to be coming to. I certainly can't just roam about in the condition I am in with my powers on the fritz like they are.... You said you provide live-in facilities.. Are there any sound-proof rooms? I know it's a bit much to ask but I've found that the only stupid question is one not asked." She stated, a soft smile on her lips.

Her phone went off again and curious as to who might be calling her up, she gave an appologetic look to Hank then pulled her cellphone out, muting it as she saw the number on the caller ID. It was her mother. "Um... It's Mum... Please excuse me." She said a little embaressed. Stepping a couple steps away, she answered the celly. "Yes Mom? Did you need something?" She asked. "Yes I made it here alright, I was actually talking to Dr. Mc Coy when you called... What?.. You want to talk to him?" A sly teasing grin came to her lips. "Does Dad know that you're talking with other men?" She teased, making it obvious in her tone she was just joking. "Alright, alright.... I'll see if he wants to talk to you. What is it that you want to talk to him about anyway?... Mom business? Okay, I'll hand you over."

Tessa walked over to the place she had been standing earlier and gave a slightly embaressed look. "Um.... Mom said she'd like to talk to you." She stated, reaching the phone out towards him in case he wanted to take the call.

Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara
Judging from her reaction Tessa was used to being the centre of male attention, not that that was exactly surprising given her good looks and vivacious personality. Yet there was nothing provocative in her attitude, just a sense of fun that Hank couldn’t help but appreciate. The boys were going to be falling for her by the wagonload that was for certain but he didn’t think she’d deliberately break any hearts though she could well shatter some bloated egos along the way. Which knowing some of the students wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing.

For it did seem that Tessa might be staying with them for some time. "Well, Dr. Mc Coy, it seems that this should be a good place for me to be coming to. she said reasonably. I certainly can't just roam about in the condition I am in with my powers on the fritz like they are....

It was a very sensible attitude to have, one that spoke highly of her sense of responsibility and that was always a good sign in someone with powers like hers which could prove a threat not just to her self but to others around her. You said you provide live-in facilities.. Are there any sound-proof rooms? Tessa inquired thoughtfully. I know it's a bit much to ask but I've found that the only stupid question is one not asked.

So she was indeed thinking in the long term. And her question was on the contrary far from being stupid. All the rooms at the institute had excellent sound proofing but in Tessa’s case something extra special might be called for. He was just about to tell her this when the cell phone rang again this time its persistence being rewarded by an answer.

"Um... It's Mum... Please excuse me." Tessa explained as she took the call. Hank couldn’t help but smile For someone who claimed she hated phones she certainly did seemed to be plagued by calls. Though he could hardly blame Catherine for being anxious to know how things were going he would have done the same thing if he had been in her place

. "Yes I made it here alright, I was actually talking to Dr. Mc Coy when you called... What?.. You want to talk to him?" he heard her say. "Does Dad know that you're talking with other men?"

Strangely enough the casual teasing touched him more than he would have thought possible. Though many managed to accept his appearance there were few who so readily accepted him as a man. He was glad that his friends daughter was one of them.

"Alright, alright.... I'll see if he wants to talk to you. What is it that you want to talk to him about anyway?... Mom business? Okay, I'll hand you over. Um.... Mom said she'd like to talk to you." Tessa stated holding out the phone for him to take. “I had rather gathered that” he replied with a grin before seizing the absurdly small telephone in his giant hand.

Cell phones had definitely not been designed with him in mind. In fact if not for his exceptional dexterity not to mention his claws they would have been impossible for him to use. As it was he juggled this one deftly to his ear and said “Catherine! Nice to hear from you again. Now what do you want to talk to me about?“

Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara
At the thought of how awkward it may be for Dr. Mc Coy to use her cellphone, Tessa gave herself a little kick mentally. The celly was already small to begin with but now it seemed even more thwarted in the rather large hand of the man she had passed it over to. Had she thought before acting, she could have just put the phone on speaker and just made it so the sound wound only travel far enough for him to hear it or something.

“Catherine! Nice to hear from you again. Now what do you want to talk to me about?" Tessa, wanting to give them privacy, turned her attention elsewhere like the scenery.

"Ah, good, she handed me over. It's nice to hear from you also, Mc Coy. Well, I wanted to make sure that my Tessa didn't forget anything and I wanted to make sure that you know about her other talents besides her gift. You know how shy some people could be... She might have neglected to tell you about her skills in the medical field. She's also a beautiful dancer. And of course she has a singer's voice to boot." Catherine stated.

Her tone told of how much enjoyment she had of boasting about her daughter's talents. It wasn't boasting as in acting like Tessa was the greatest singer, dancer, and medic in the world but one that showed the pride she had for her daughter. "She's a very helpful girl but like I said, she's shy about her talents unless someone brings it up. She learned her singing and dancing from myself, and if I know Sean, he's told you about my performances..."

"And she learned everything that her father had to offer. I was thinking that with where you live at, her help might be needed. It'll give her something to do besides going out to those clubs I've heard that she's wandered to." She continued.

Tessa may have not been listening in on the conversation but she had the distinct feeling that her mother may be talking about her. Well, more of expierianced assumption. Every time her mother spoke to someone she was always bringing Tessa into it. She was tempted to sneak in a couple of sentences toawrds her but resisted, waiting patiently for her mother to hang up.

Re: Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara
Pride was something Hank could understand, at least this kind if pride anyway. The pleasure a parent took in the accomplishments of their offspring. He felt something very like it each time Paige or Talia excelled in something he had taught them. He felt it each time a pupil understood a lesson or overcame some difficult problem that had been holding them back whether it was power related or one of the all too frequent psychological barriers that young mutants erected around themselves to protect themselves from the hardship of the world and then found they couldn’t take down in order to become part of it. It was a warm feeling, a quiet satisfaction that told you your life had not been in vain, that by encouraging your children fulfil their potential you too had accomplished something worthwhile.

Hank had always loved that aspect of his work, helping young people find their way, watching their confidence grow as they found their own particular talent and nurtured it. Now for the first time he wondered what it would be like to be able to say as Catherine was now saying “my daughter can do that, my son has accomplished so this.’ He imagined it would be a joy unlike any other and to be honest he couldn’t wait to find out.

But still there was encouraging and there was pushing and he wasn’t sure that Tessa’s mother hadn’t crossed that fine line. It was true that Tessa’s help would be invaluable in the med lab if indeed she was as capable as Catherine claimed but that was no reason to force her into something she perhaps didn’t want to do. One thing the Institute offered was a fresh start. Students brought to it what they wanted of their past, all, nothing or more often some subtle distillation that was as individual as they were themselves. So now that he was armed with the knowledge Catherine had given him he would definitely make a point of showing Tessa round med lab, he would even take into account this so called shyness of hers where her accomplishments were concerned. But he would tread lightly. If the enthusiasm was there then that would be wonderful. If not then there would be no coercion on his part that might make the girl feel awkward or worse still obliged to help him, a sure fire way to ruin any relationship they might have before it even got started.

So with this in mind he replied "Thank you for letting me know Catherine That is indeed most interesting and I will be sure to bear it in mind as I show Tessa round the institute. I think that we have made a good impression up till now and I am sure she will enjoy her stay here with us but I’ll let Tessa tell you for herself." he concluded “I am sure you will want a word with her won't you?" and with a smile he handed the telephone back to its owner.

Re: Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara
As the phone was handed back to her, Tessa accepted it gladly while at the same time trying to make sure she didn't seem too anxious about it. After flashing a smile to the big blue furry doctor, she brought the cellphone up to her ear. "Tessa, Tessa honey. Are you there?" Came her mother's voice as she knew it would. Her mother tended to be a little impatient at times. "Yes Mum, I'm here. Did you get a chance to finish what you wanted to say to Dr. Mc Coy?" Tessa asked. "Oh yes, I've said what I needed to for now. Don't pry now, dear. It was as you would put it, an A-B conversation." Her mother replied with light humor.

Tessa resisted the urge to roll her eyes. "Ok, I got the hint. I won't even start to ask. Well, I think I've better get back to talking to Dr. Mc Coy since well, it's the reason I cam here. I'll come by for another visit before too long, Mom. See you later." As the cell phone was hung up, it was a little relief. There were times when a person had to do something on their own without their parents tagging along. That and the fact that she wasn't too big on telephones anyway.

" Sorry about the interruption. I promise you that this celly doesn't always but into life like this... Here, let me turnit off. I should hae done that when I first got here but I forgot to." She stated a bit sheepishly before cutting the cell phone off and putting it back in her pocket.

She was a quick and easy blusher so her face remained a bit red for a few moments before she gave another smile, the tint fading finally. At the moment of silence, she tucked a stray strand of her hair out of her face and behind her ear. "Well, um... Where do I sign up?" She asked, trying to start up the conversation between herself and the doctor again.

" I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time. I know how important time cam be sometimes and how little there are on some days." She continued. Her father was always talking about how there was so little time and so much to do. From that, she had learned about how important time was.

Re: Re: Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara

The cell phone was finally silenced by a more traditional method than the use of her powers leaving the conversation free of the risk of interruption from that source at least. "Well, um... Where do I sign up?" Tessa asked a little awkwardly " I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time. I know how important time can be sometimes and how little there are on some days."

Unconsciously she had offered him an opening into the subject he had just broached on the phone with her mother – her ability to help out round med lab. And a gentle one at that. “ Its true that things have been rather hectic recently in med lab” he admitted.» The student body has grown rather significantly over the past few years and as you can imagine with such ‘talented pupils’ we do tend to get some rather interesting cases. “ He smiled as he said it knowing she would catch his meaning.

Mutant teenagers! An endless source of unique and fascinating problems. It was challenging work looking after their health, no two cases ever exactly alike. Challenging and rewarding but it did take its toll. Living at the school as well as working there meant that you were always on call. It wasn’t something Hank had ever grudged doing but it did mean that his own life had been put on hold. Until now. Which is why some help would have been appreciated if this girl was willing to give it. But in the end that decision would be up to her.

“However this afternoon has so far proved to be disaster free I’m pleased to say” he went on . Which means that I have time to show you round our establishment. Before you ‘sign up’ Oh and going back to your previous question Hank said suddenly remembering “All of the rooms here are sound proofed to a degree but we tend to adapt each room to the particular needs of the individual student. But you can see that when we go upstairs.”

As he spoke he started to walk towards the waiting corridors.” For now why don’t I show you the classrooms and the other facilities. I don’t know if you’d be interested in taking any of the classes we have on offer but that possibility is also available. Are you studying any particular subjects at the moment? You might find we have them on offer here if you are.

“ Its true that things have been rather hectic recently in med lab... The student body has grown rather significantly over the past few years and as you can imagine with such ‘talented pupils’ we do tend to get some rather interesting cases." Dr. Mc Coy told her. His words brought a few different throughts to her mind. If he was admitting to things being hectic, surely there was a lot of stress on him. From what she had seen in her father, doctors tended to make understatements about those kinds of things.. well, the good doctors anyway...

She could only imagine how many people must be going down to the medical lab with this being a place full of mutants and all. And with the earlier given knowledge that everyone there was having a problem with their abiliies at one time or another. It must have been a huge stroke of luck that the doctor in front of her wasn't being called upon right then in the middle of their meeting to help someone or to check up a patient or something. This brought about a question in her mind but she remained silent about it, seeing that the man was about to speak again.

“However this afternoon has so far proved to be disaster free I’m pleased to say... Which means that I have time to show you round our establishment. Before you ‘sign up’. Oh and going back to your previous question... All of the rooms here are sound proofed to a degree but we tend to adapt each room to the particular needs of the individual student. But you can see that when we go upstairs.” The first chunk of his statement showed her that even he was surprised about the lack of becons for him... <So it must really be busy then.> She thought.

"For now why don’t I show you the classrooms and the other facilities. I don’t know if you’d be interested in taking any of the classes we have on offer but that possibility is also available. Are you studying any particular subjects at the moment? You might find we have them on offer here if you are." He finished.

Tessa thought for a moment before she spoke. "Well, I'm not in school at the moment but I do still study up on a few things on my own in my free time.... But before I go too deeply into that, I'd like to ask you something if you don't mind... Do you have anyone helping you in the Medical Lab? Or are you handling it all on your own? I couldn't help but to notice that it seems there is a lot of things piled on you... Judging by how 'hectic' seemed to be an understatement... I could be wrong though in my guessing that..." She said, playing with an earring.

She knew what she was digging herself into when her next statement came to mind but even though she liked to keep her talents on a bit of a hush hush level, she couldn't ignore the fact that this place might need her help. "I... I have some knowledge in that field and I have some capabilities, nothing compared to my father's but it's something." She told him even though she was making a rather large understatement.

Anyone who had seen her at work would think that she was someone who could have done wonderfully in following her father's footsteps had she persued it like he had wanted her to. And anyone who knew her father would be able to pick up on the habit she had gotten from him of lowering herself when she spoke to someone about herself. It wasn't that she had a low self esteem, it was just that she was shy when it came to the topic of herself and her talents.

Re: The arrival of O' Meara
And so the offer came awkward and self conscious though it was, freely given and worth all the more because of that. "I... I have some knowledge in that field and I have some capabilities, nothing compared to my father's but it's something."

Another pair of hands to help in the madness that was med lab! Skilled ones too if her mother’s commendations were anything to go by! Hank had no doubt that Sean would have taught his daughter well and it seemed that she in turn shared his passion for healing. Which was after all the one indispensable element to being a good doctor.

Of course if he accepted her aide it would inevitably lead to her complete integration into the life of the Institute. Too many accidents happened in the danger room for it to remain a secret, to many injuries were sustained in the course of missions for ignorance of the X men’s existence to be maintained. Tessa would be plunged into the hectic and dangerous of teams and fighting and the seemingly endless battle to protect humans and mutants alike from those who sought to do them harm. Yet if she took after her parents he didn’t doubt that she could handle it and he for one would be grateful for any help she could give him.

“It is true that things have been a little fraught in med lab recently to say the least” he admitted readily.” I have a certain number of orderlies who assist me in my work and also two trainees Paige and Talia who are learning to take on more and more responsibility with each passing day”. It was true and it was clear in his voice he was proud of the progress they were making

.” However Paige herself is ill at the moment and to be honest even were she not the work load has been getting to a point where I feel I am not able to dedicate the time I would like to to each individual patient .Not to mention have some sort of a private life outside the lab.”

He knew she would understand She was a doctors daughter She would know only too well how duty sometimes got in the way of family no matter how hard you tried not to let it. “ Recently an old friend who has medical knowledge has come back to the Institute, hopefully he will be able to relieve some of the pressure.. he continued “ And it may be that I have acquired yet another apprentice but still…… The help of someone who knows their way around med lab would be much appreciated. It would be an honour to work beside an O Meara again after all these years.

Re: The arrival of O' Meara
“It is true that things have been a little fraught in med lab recently to say the least... I have a certain number of orderlies who assist me in my work and also two trainees Paige and Talia who are learning to take on more and more responsibility with each passing day.” So he did have some help already and the workload wasn't only on him.

That was a good thing because she knew that with some people, once they've gotten used to taking on all of the effort themselves had trouble adjusting to having help which led to some clashes. She had learned that from listening to her father talking about it. There was rarely a time she hadn't heard anyhting work related out of her father's mouth. Not that she complained but it would have been nice to have work stay out of personal time sometimes.

” However Paige herself is ill at the moment and to be honest even were she not the work load has been getting to a point where I feel I am not able to dedicate the time I would like to to each individual patient .Not to mention have some sort of a private life outside the lab.” Tessa nodded in an understanding fashion. She knew only too well about where he was coming from. Hearing this come from him made her feel even more like he'd need some more help that he alredy had. Again, she felt it tugging at her. The tugging being into the hole she had just merely skimmed around in the past but was now digging herself into. At least this time, she had the option of being willingly doing it.

“ Recently an old friend who has medical knowledge has come back to the Institute, hopefully he will be able to relieve some of the pressure... And it may be that I have acquired yet another apprentice but still…… The help of someone who knows their way around med lab would be much appreciated. It would be an honour to work beside an O Meara again after all these years." She flushed slightly at the compliment towards her family. "Well, I might not have exactly gone into a real school for the training and knowledge I have but I'm sure that I can be of some help... Like I said, I'm nothing compared to my father but I do have a little experiance..." She told him, laying it out on the table for him to still accept her help or not now that he knew that she didn't have a degree or anything.

"Oh, and I'd like it if my medical side wasn't to be talked about outside of this mansion... I wouldn't want to lose the cool points I've built up over the years." She added that part with a small laugh, showing that it was in a joking manner.

Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara

The fact that she didn’t possess any recognised medical qualification wasn’t necessarily a stumbling block At least not at the moment. Hank felt sure though that if healing did prove to be a vocation rather than an interest that at some point Tessa would come to the inevitable realisation that if she wanted to pursue it as a career she would have to pass the required exams sometime.

But maybe not just yet. She was still young and medicine didn’t seem to be the only career that presented itself to her. It wasn’t such a bad idea to keep her options open until her mind was finally set on which road she wanted to go down. For the moment Hank was only too pleased that she was interested enough to propose her aid and who knew Perhaps working with someone other than her father would help her to realise what her real feelings were where medicine was concerned one way or another.

"Oh, and I'd like it if my medical side wasn't to be talked about outside of this mansion... I wouldn't want to lose the cool points I've built up over the years." she said teasingly.

” Why Tessa Im most offended” Hank replied keeping his face straight and his tone serious though anyone who knew him would have seen the sparkle in the yellow eyes. "My reputation in the medical field extends far beyond the boundaries of this establishment and I can assure you…. I have had to build an extra room to keep my cool points in” Finally the laughter broke through, a deep warm sound that had more than a little of a roar caught up in it. “Although I suspect the blue fur may have something to do with my success."

“ In any case” he went on “cool or not I hope you will enjoy working with us in med lab. We can call in and have a look round in a little while once we have finished with such wonders as the canteen and the library. Not to mention those rooms we were talking about. I shall keep my domain till last in order to build up a sense of anticipation ” Hank teased. “Though in all honestly I think you will be impressed. Med lab is …..unique to say the least. And this time I am not joking at all.”

Re: Re: The arrival of O' Meara
” Why Tessa Im most offended” His tone and his expression was serious and Tessa's own face turned a beet red at her thought of having been rude to the doctor. It was embaressing to think that she'd found a way to upset the man even before she had known him for even a full day.

"My reputation in the medical field extends far beyond the boundaries of this establishment and I can assure you…. I have had to build an extra room to keep my cool points in” The blush turned into a deeper shade fo ruby as a deep rumbling laughter came out of the blue-furred man before her. The blushing becoming deeper due to her realization that he had just been joking.

“Although I suspect the blue fur may have something to do with my success." She couldn't help herself from grinning even though the redness still lingered stubbornly on her face.

“ In any case... cool or not I hope you will enjoy working with us in med lab. And this time I am not joking at all.”

Tessa gave a false appauled action, her placing a hand over her chest and stepping back with her eyes wide. " Ah, not only do you threaten to blush me to death but you're trying to kill me with anticipation too? I thought you'd want more staff, not patients." She joked with a small laugh and then a grin. "Hehe. Any order is fine with me, Doctor. I'm sure I'll see every square inch of this building eventually." She finished.
