The christening of Wired - Sign painting
There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea
But you became the light on the dark side of me…

Eva stood leaning against the counter in Wired sighing along to Seal’s Kiss from a Rose. It was one of those songs that once she heard it she could not stop listening to. And as it turned out it also happened to be the end song to Batman Forever which she had been watching the night before… thus the digging out of the Seal CD and the obsessive listening.

But did you know
That when it snows
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

It was a Monday morning, more precisely The Monday morning after she had told Taylor of the Cyber Café and he had accepted to be her partner. This was also the exact reason why she was up so early, she was waiting for Taylor to show up so that they could finally officially name the Café Wired. She had bought paints this weekend and they were going to hand paint the sign above the door.

There is so much a man can tell you
So much he can say
But you remain
My Power, my Pleasure, My Pain

She soon found herself pacing the length of the room. It was not that Taylor was late but more that she was overexcited and that she felt that he should be here by now so in order to stop her pacing she decided to go and feed her new pet goldfish. She walked over to the fish tank which was to be the focal point of the café and peered in at the fish she had bought. She looked past the ones with the puffy cheeks and what looked like exploded brains until she found the one she was looking for Buddy. The little black speckled goldfish was hiding at the back and she smiled when she saw him. She did not blame him one second for sulking for she had very nearly dropped him within minutes of buying him, so she felt he was entitled to a little grumpiness.

Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom
A light hits the gloom on the grey

She straightened, still singing along and reached for the fish food. Gently opening the lid to the aquarium she dropped in a pinch of food and watched as the fish came up to the surface to swallow the flakes of food.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
OOC: Hope this is ok, i think it gets better towards the end; but my mushy brain hasn't been working properly! *pokes head*

Taylor was late, again. Some people might imagine that a mutant with an ability to run at extreme speed could never be late, but Taylor was someone that liked to try and go against the norm. After the pair had come up with the name of Wired for the cyber café Eva and Taylor had agreed to meet the following morning to begin the creation of the sign for the café. Eva had stayed until it was quite late, the pair of them catching up on all they had missed about each other. Taylor had insisted on walking Eva back to the flat above the café; he knew she could most probably handle herself, but he would not have felt right allowing her to walk back alone at night. He had left Eva at her door and after a brief hug goodnight he had left, a wide smile on his face; his life seemed to finally be coming to some kind of semblance.

It hadn’t taken him long to get back to the institute and to his room. He had full intentions of getting back and slipping off to bed so he could get up in time to meet Eva but on his way up to his room he had seen Sean who was going to get something to eat from the institute’s kitchen. Taylor had agreed to go down with him and the pair had talked about Scott and everything that was happening within their family. On their way back to their rooms Taylor invited Sean to see Wired with him the following morning; there wasn’t really much Taylor could do to make anything that was happening any better but he thought that if he tried to act normal around Sean then it might make things a bit easier, and it had. The pair agreed to meet at Taylor’s room and go on down.

The next thing Taylor knew was a loud banging on his door and bolting upright in the warm comfortable safety that was his bed. He had turned bleary eyed to the digital radio clock that sat beside the single bed he was now sat in, his think long hair pointed in all kinds of directions and cursed loudly as he read the time 10:00am, damn we were meant to have left by now! Taylor had leapt out of bed and swiftly ushered Sean in; his face showing his clear lack of surprise at Taylor’s lateness. Sean might have been the younger one in years, but he was certainly much more grown up than Taylor, but it never really bothered the yellow skinned mutant; he just hoped Eva realised what she had let herself in for.

Taylor had grabbed a pairs of jeans and pulled them on along with a blue T-shirt, he pulled on a pair of shoes before ducking his head under the basen taps in a vain attempt to tame his hair down a little bit. He had turned to Sean with a grin and was meant with a slight exasperated look, but he knew it was always the same reaction he got from Sean when Taylor was late and so he patted his cousin on the stomach playfully and led the way out of his room and through the winding corridors and out of the building.

Taylor could instantly see that Sean was enjoying the slight normality as they walked out of the grounds and down the streets in the direction of the Salem Centre; he liked seeing the old Sean, even if he could tell that his younger cousin was wrestling with his other feelings Taylor he knew that Sean didn’t want to talk about it and like the evening before it would be Sean that instigated the conversation if he felt he needed to chat. Instead the pair continued to chat idly about things that were happening around the institute but it soon got turned onto the cyber café and Taylor found himself getting more and more excited about seeing the place he was about to part own.

He knew that the work Eva would have done on it would have made it perfect; she was always one for getting things exactly how she wanted them when it came to projects and so she would not have cut corners on anything and he was right. The two young men arrived at the cyber café and they paused to admire it from across the street; it was gleaming, the morning sun reflected off the perfectly clean windows which held a number of big posters advertising the opening. As Taylor and Sean crossed the street the noticed a sizable group of people reading the posters and seemed to be expressing interest in the new place opening in the centre, it wasn’t often things changed and it was probably causing a bit of a stir. Taylor and Sean shot a quick glance into the café, it seemed to be a mix of a high tech computer lab and the coffee shop that was seen in the TV show Friends; it was exactly what him and Eva had hoped for when they had first come up with the idea years ago.

Eva had told Taylor that there was a side door that had a buzzer on it that went straight up to the flat and so they walked down the shaded alley and pushed the buzzer. Taylor had found himself pausing slightly before pressing the button; he was quite late and although he knew that Eva knew what his time keeping was like (especially in the mornings) he hoped he hadn’t wound her up before they had even met; he didn’t want to do anything that would cause her to be angry with him again, not after they had just been reunited. With a quick grin at Sean he pressed the button a second time and they waited.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
Eva had given up waiting for Taylor, she knew him far to well and if he was more than ten minutes late she knew you might as well go for a cup of tea. In this case it was in fact a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie, she had gone back up to the flat and installed herself in front of really bad daytime TV. She figured that Taylor would just ring the buzzer when he got there and she would go down and let him in.

Sure enough a short time after the chocolate was gone the buzzer sounded and she went to answer it.
“I’ll be right down.”
She really liked the interphone and figured that Taylor would as well… she could already picture the random conversations they would have using it.

When she finally made it downstairs she was surprised to find that her future business partner was not alone. As she opened the door she looked her other guest up and down. It did not take her long to work out that it must be Sean, Taylor’s cousin who she had heard so much about, for he looked very much like his father. She had met Taylor’s uncle a few days ago and decided that she very much like this side of her friend’s family, so after a brief inspection she greeted Sean with a smile.

“You must be Sean.”

She extended a hand and moved out of the way to let the two boy’s in. She was a bit nervous as this was Taylor’s first time inside the café and she hoped that he liked the design she had come up with. She had tried for high tech yet decadently comfortable and was quite pleased with the result. She was also relieved that Taylor would be working here as she did not know much about computers; people she could handle just not machines.

“Feel free to look around. Oh and do you want any tea or coffee… I make a mean hot chocolate, which I suppose is a good thing seeing as I’m owner of a café.”

She grinned, it was still hard to grasp that she would soon have a room full of customers to deal with all asking for different things, all at once. She pointed to the plush looking sofas and indicated the drawings laid on the table in front of them.

“Once I’m done getting drinks I’d like it if we can sit down and look at the sketches I’ve drawn up for the sign outside.”

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
“I’ll be right down.”

Taylor grinned at Sean as Eva’s voice filled the intercom at the side of the door, Sean’s reaction was marginal, but this was nothing unusual, despite what Sean was going through with his Father Sean’s reaction to Taylor’s own overreaction was never to encourage his elder cousin, he knew from experience that to encourage him even in the slightest can have consequences. Sean was more likely to get excited when there really was something to get excited about whereas Taylor got excited about most things.

After a few moments the door opened gently and Taylor and Sean were greeted with Eva’s broad smile, it faltered for just a second as she took in Sean and realised who it was and the pair smiled back at her. “You must be Sean.” Sean’s smile became more welcoming as he didn’t have to introduce himself, he hated the awkward moments were two new people had to introduce each other and Eva had unknowingly eased a little tension from Sean with her easy welcome.

“Feel free to look around. Oh and do you want any tea or coffee… I make a mean hot chocolate, which I suppose is a good thing seeing as I’m owner of a café.”

As soon as Eva said it was ok to look around Taylor was off, straight through the back of the shop and into the main café, Sean slowly shut the entrance that they had come through and smiled to Eva; “You know what happens when you give Taylor open invitations like that, he’s going to be all over the place now.” Sounds of loud awe came from the cyber café as Taylor looked at his new joint venture with Eva and Sean listened as he started to shout through to them; “This is amazing Eva, you’ve done so much, it’s exactly how I imagined it.” Sean turned back to Eva and walked through into the main shop, it opened out to behind the counter and beyond was what seemed like a melded image of a cool swanky coffee house and an ultra modern computer placement, Taylor had found his way to the deep cushy sofa’s that filled one corner of the café, he had spread himself out on one and grinned back at them, his emotions flowing out of him, sure Taylor got excited about a lot of things, but you could tell when he had really seen something he liked and this was one of those times.

“Once I’m done getting drinks I’d like it if we can sit down and look at the sketches I’ve drawn up for the sign outside.”

“Definitely! Can you make mine a mice strong Mocha Eva, as I am sure you have guessed I haven’t been up to long.” Taylor grinned at his friend and scooted around the sofa and went to inspect the computers that filled one side of the room. Sean turned to Eva; “This really is impressive Eva, congratulations. As for the drinks, lets try one of these famous hot chocolates Taylor has told me about, he mentioned marshmallows? Oh and With Taylor’s might be best to make it more chocolate than coffee in that Mocha; I am sure I don’t need to explain the dangers of a caffeine high Mr Andrews. Sean grinned slyly and went to shepherd Taylor over to one of the larger coffee tables that sat not to far from the counter in a vain attempt settle his elder cousin down so he would be able to concentrate on the sketches Eva was going to present him.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
Eva waited patiently as Taylor rushed off to explore the place, which he would do in great depth but thankfully rather quickly as well. It seemed to her that Sean and Taylor were very close for which she was very pleased and it also meant that it would be easy for her to like Sean. Judging by the remarks coming from the other room both of her guests were liking what they were seeing which was a relief. She couldn’t have coped with having to refurbish the whole place again. She waited a little as the comment about wanting a drink reached Taylor through his cloud of excitement.

“Definitely! Can you make mine a mice strong Mocha Eva, as I am sure you have guessed I haven’t been up to long.”

That she already new there was only one reason why Taylor would be late for something and that was that he was still in bed. When they were at school she had even taken to going round his house in the mornings to make sure he was out of bed, for their teachers were getting sick of seeing his chair empty for first period.

“This really is impressive Eva, congratulations. As for the drinks, let’s try one of these famous hot chocolates Taylor has told me about, he mentioned marshmallows? Oh and with Taylor’s might be best to make it more chocolate than coffee in that Mocha; I am sure I don’t need to explain the dangers of a caffeine high Mr Andrews.”

Eva grinned back at Sean; she would have to teach him her special Taylor Mocha technique. With another smile at the two of them she went back upstairs to prepare the drinks because she saw it as bad luck to prepare anything in the café until it was open. It did not take her long to prepare three hot chocolates and then she poured a little amount of decaf coffee into the one on the end. There was no point in adding a caffeine burst to the sugar rush this drink would give Taylor. Putting all three drinks on a tray she took them downstairs.

She found the two boys comfortably seated and she went and put the drinks down in front of them. Making sure that Taylor was closest to the mocha. With that she then went behind the bar area and pulled out a large folder in which where held the various designs she had doodled for the sign over the door. They were all in similar colours for she had already bought the paint and fully intended on her café being christened by the end of the day.

She sat down next to Sean and pushed the folder towards Taylor.
“These are the designs, have a look. Oh and by the way when you’ve picked one, we’re going to paint it above the café… today.”

She grinned wickedly for she had not mentioned this to her new partner and she knew that the suddenness of it all might come as a bit of a surprise. But it had to be done and the sooner the better for it would help them attract more customers.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
Taylor took his own large mug of Mocha, savouring the sweet and bitter taste of the warm beverage as he took a large enough gulp to get a hit from the drink but not so much that he scolded himself. He lowered the mug with a content expression on his face, the taste of one of Eva’s hot drinks was another thing he had missed so much, but not until this moment did he realise just how much he had missed them. He looked at Sean and half smiled as he attempted to take a sip from his own drink that was piled high with cream and a few marshmallows; Taylor knew Sean would hate the only real approach to that particular drink, you have to just get stuck in, not caring about where the cream would go, it wasn’t a drink that could be drunk delicately. However Taylor knew his younger cousin would find a way to drink Eva’s famous hot chocolate without getting the cream across his lips and face as Taylor so often had.

“These are the designs, have a look. Oh and by the way when you’ve picked one, we’re going to paint it above the café… today.”

Sean reacted with more shock to the last part of this statement, taylor knew that Eva would have something up her sleeve and it only made him happier to see she didn’t disappoint. Taylor moved his own drink aside as to not knock it over as he pulled the large folder towards him and opened it gently. Sean moved across slightly so as to get a better angle on the designs. Taylor always knew Eva was good at drawing, but what he looked at was impressive, she had obviously not let her talent lay idle while they had been apart.

The pages varied intensely and for a second he teased “What if I don’t like any of these??” He smirked and looked back at the designs, he glanced at Sean who was looking very impressed, and to Taylor’s slight dismay his cousin had managed to clear the hot chocolate of the cream and marshmallows and was sipping the steaming drink as he watched Taylor turn the pages; there was not one spot of cream on his face, the table or his cloths, Taylor would have to find out how he managed that!

The designs went from large curved bubbly designs down to jagged graffiti style designs. There were ones that were more traditional, similar to signs you would find on old coffee houses in the old downtown of the large city, and ones that looked ultra modern, so much so that they wouldn’t look that out of place in the underground addition of the Institute.

For about five minutes the group sat in almost silence despite Sean mentioning how he liked certain designs; for once Taylor stayed quiet taking in all that he was looking at, he knew that the decision he and Eva (and Sean to a certain extent) were going to make would be very important to how the café would look look at sell itself to the public. Finally he spoke, his expression more serious now as he pulled out two fairly different designs, one was very rigid, lines jutting out on the writing in a very ‘cyberspace’ manner, the second was much more traditional, a large curl of steam behind the name of the café. “What do you think about a combination? This café is like a traditional coffee house merged with a modern cyber café, so why don’t we show this with the sign, combining this kind of writing, with this calming background?” Taylor moved the two pictures towards Eva, a questioning look on his face, he wasn’t sure what she would think, hoping she wouldn’t think he was just snubbing her ideas; he knew she wouldn’t think that, they were friends, but he didn’t want her to get the wrong impression. Sean watched quietly from the sidelines, Taylor giving him a sideways glance as he picked up his mocha and drained the warm liquid further… there really was nothing better than Eva’s Mocha in the morning.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
Eva watched with satisfaction as her words sank in. She was not overly surprised at Taylor’s lack of surprise for she had a habit of springing unexpected things on her friend. But it seemed that his cousin was going to have to get used to her, although she had to commend him on how quickly he recovered his composure. The two boys then huddled around the portfolio and started flicking through the sketches. She had to admit that she was nervous as she had designed them all herself and she could bear to think that they were all terrible.

“What if I don’t like any of these??”

Eva glared at her friend knowing full well that he was teasing her and letting him know that he had indeed found her soft spot and that he should just get on with the choosing. But her glare did not last long as she noticed Taylor’s look of surprise and disgust as he registered that his cousin had a very skilful hot chocolate drinking technique that put him to shame. Eva always liked watching Taylor drink her hot chocolates but she never sat to close to him while he was doing so… she didn’t intend to end up covered in marshmallow.

To her delight Sean soon started mentioning how much he liked some of the designs that she had created which she took as a great compliment. She was glad Taylor had brought his cousin along for she was starting to like him, anyone that complimented her that much in such a short space of time was alright by her. And she had to admit that Taylor was also paying her a compliment by remaining silent which meant that all of his attention was focused on the drawings in front of him, something that did not happen all that often. Then he finally spoke indicating that he had come to a decision.

“What do you think about a combination? This café is like a traditional coffee house merged with a modern cyber café, so why don’t we show this with the sign, combining this kind of writing, with this calming background?”

Eva looked at the two designs he had put forward, one was one of her own personal favourites with bold lines and catchy colours. The other was much more sombre and a lot less striking, she could see where Taylor was coming from with his idea on calming the first one down with a less vibrant background but she was not sure how well the two would mix.

“I’m not sure about the merging of the two but I’m sure I could turn the colours down on the first so that they are eye catching rather than blinding.”

She laughed at her own joke, she could see now that the mix of reds and blues she had used were a bit garish and that they would probably make people sick if they looked at it for to long. But she did not feel that she could have to plain a design on the café, for the name and the sign needed to reflect the owners and neither her nor Taylor were plain in anyway.

“We need something that we can relate to so how about I make some of it… Yellow?”

She stuck her tongue out at her friend to show that she had no intention of offending him and that if she did do that then it would be there private joke. One that the whole world could see but not understand.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
Taylor watched as Eva considered what he had said to her, he could see she was thinking about it but wasn’t convinced she liked the idea ll that much, but Taylor wanted to make a contribution to this part of the project as he had come in late he wanted to help Eva in some way that wasn’t just financial. Sean had sat back quietly as the pair began to discuss what they were going to do, in all honesty the younger man was with the pair not only because he had wanted to meet Eva but just as much he needed to get out of the Institute with everything that was happening; he was even finding it hard to communicate with Dawn at the moment.

“I’m not sure about the merging of the two but I’m sure I could turn the colours down on the first so that they are eye catching rather than blinding. We need something that we can relate to so how about I make some of it… Yellow?”

Taylor smirked as Eva stuck her tongue out at him, it was a good idea and he liked it, in a way he was kind of honored that she had thought of incorporating something like his changed colouring into the sign, he had only very recently got used to looking down and seeing his once quite pale skin a vivid yellow, at one point he hated looking into the mirror. Now that mattered little, he was Taylor and he didn’t much care what strangers thought of him, he had shown that attitude that night in the Dying Star when he had first reached the institute.

Moving his drink to one side he nodded slowly, the sight of Sean smiling a little in the corner of his eye; his cousin had been more patient than he thought he would have been in a similar situation; if something wasn’t directly involving Taylor he had a tendency to trail off within himself.

“I think we may have cracked it. So where are all the materials and everything we need to get this going then? Don’t say your not organised down to the finest point, when it comes to something like this I know your going to be ready.” Taylor teased Eva smiling, “And once we are done with it, we can have Sean here haul it up into place for us.” Taylor clapped his friend on the back with a heavy palm as he spoke, Sean jutting forward a little, unprepared for the brotherly gesture. Sean could see that Taylor was now eager to get on with what Eva had inadvertently dropped on them, he just hoped he didn’t have to be involved artistically; he had never been creative in that sense and wasn’t ready to be ritually embarrassed in front of Taylor friend.

Sean collected up Taylor’s and his own finished mugs and placed them up on the counter worktop of the café and looked back at them with a half smile, “I don’t mind helping you get it up into place but I feel you would be better off without my help for the actual sign writing, I’ll leave that to you two. Listen I just need to go over to the store over the road, you guys get started and I’ll be back in a bit, did you want me to get anything?” For the first time the youngest of the three there was finally finding that his thoughts weren’t lingering on his family problems and trails that they faced and Sean was unbelievably grateful to Taylor for this release, ever since his cousin had come back into his life he had found himself a little stronger, other than Ben (who he kind of met through Taylor) Sean didn’t have many friends, but now he was starting to learn what it was like to have someone to escape with, as a mate, and thatnks to Taylor it seemed that social circle was starting to get wider; he had even heard him talk about Hope and it took quite a character to get Hope to come out of her shell but it seemed Taylor was that guy.

“I think we may have cracked it. So where are all the materials and everything we need to get this going then? Don’t say your not organised down to the finest point, when it comes to something like this I know your going to be ready. And once we are done with it, we can have Sean here haul it up into place for us.”

Once again Taylor was right, in her enthusiasm Eva had gone out on bought everything she could think of that they might need and it was all waiting patiently for them it the area under the stairs. She smiled at the idea of Sean trying to haul that big plastic sign up there on his own. He may be a mutant but unless his power was super strength then he was going to need a hand. Eva watched as her best friend nearly floored his cousin in his enthusiasm and felt slightly sorry for Sean, as he was probably going to be at the receiving end of a lot more enthusiasm before the day was over. She had learned to deal with by fighting back, in a playful way of course and besides when her and Taylor were together it seemed as if his excitement was contagious and she was just as silly as him by the end of the day.

“I don’t mind helping you get it up into place but I feel you would be better off without my help for the actual sign writing, I’ll leave that to you two. Listen I just need to go over to the store over the road, you guys get started and I’ll be back in a bit, did you want me to get anything?”

Eva appreciated the fact that Sean seemed to understand that the actual sign painting was a big event that she and Taylor had to do together. And he also handled leaving them alone very diplomatically by hinting that he was in fact artistically inept, which whether it was true or not provided a good excuse for him to leave them alone for a while. She smiled up at him and decided that she did in fact want something from the shop.

“You couldn’t buy me a big packet of cheese flavoured Doritos could you?”

She had sporadic spell of being addicted to cheese flavoured Doritos and this way one of them, she would eat them till the thought of them made her feel sick and then eat some more for good measure. She went to get some money out of her jacket pocket by the door.

“Here’s the money for them. Taylor come over here! Or do you intend to make me carry this huge plank all on my own!”

She knew he would come running and offered Sean a malicious wink. This was going to be a fun day and she was going to have to try excessively hard to not cover their shinny new café with paint… as the idea of a paint fight was getting more and more appealing. She knew that keeping most of those plastic wrappers the sofas and tables had come in was a good idea they would offer some protection if things got out of hand.

----------------

Ben had woken up at about 10 ish and gone to find breakfast. He was still tired from his bad nights sleep on the training island but for some reason he could not seem to sleep anymore. Maybe it was that he was curious about this new café that Taylor seemed to be so excited about. So he wandered into the kitchen and found a cereal bar that he could pass off as breakfast, and swiftly polished off a glass of Tropicana orange juice.

With breakfast out of the way he wandered back to the dorms and went to knock on Sean’s bedroom door. His knock was met with silence. Well it was likely that Sean, who took after his father, was out an about doing things already. So Ben who figured if he couldn’t sleep because of this whole café business then Taylor should be bouncing off the walls headed for his yellow friends dorm room. To his surprise the knocks on this door were also only met by silence… where were the two of them?

Well there was one simple way of finding out. He headed back to his own room and when he got there he rummaged around at the bottom of his bag until he produced his phone. The poor thing was a bit battered but it was a sign of constant use which, Ben figured, if you were a phone was a good thing. The entered the text menu and wrote the following: “Hey, where are you guys? Are you perhaps visiting that café place without me? :-P ”. He put little smiley faces in his texts not because he liked them much but because they helped the reader understand that he was not really mad at them. It was to easy to misinterpret words on a screen, and the last thing he wanted was Sean thinking that he was mad at them when he wasn’t.

Re: The christening of Wired - Sign painting
Sean smiled at Eva’s sideways wink and took the money for her Dorito’s and just as she had inferred Taylor got himself together and walked over to her to help her out with the plank that was about to become there sign. Taylor might be a little over excitable sometimes but when he had somewhere to channel that energy his concentration peaked above that of most people.

Sean was about to leave the room when he heard the familiar tone of his mobile receiving a text message; he always got a little bit excited when this happened as he didn’t get many texts and they were almost always from wither Taylor, Ben or Dawn. Dawn however hadn’t been in contact with him in a few days, he couldn’t really understand why but they seemed to be pulling apart at the moment what with his family issues and her need to study magic he felt more and more distance from her. He shook himself out of those thoughts, it wasn’t the time, and pulled out his mobile, flipping it open to see a message from Ben;

“Hey, where are you guys? Are you perhaps visiting that café place without me? :-P ”

He smiled as he read it and quickly typed a return message;

“Hey mate, yeah we got here about half an hour ago, we’re actually working in the café so you’ll be able to see us through the main windows, we’ll let you in. I’m going to grab some snacks from the store. See you in a while. Sean”

Sean hit the send button and pocketed his phone; “That was Ben, I think he’s on his way down alright, I’ll see you in a bit.” Sean smiled as Eva took note of what he was saying and Taylor started unpacking a box of what seemed to be paints and other materials. Slowly the lensed mutant left through the back entrance they came in from; was good to have a day that was going to be fun and not have to worry about much.

Taylor half waved as Sean left and he grinned as he looked back at Eva, unpacking a few supplies, eager to see what she had gotten for the day. As their eyes met he realised that he was a little ahead of himself again and got up to help Eva with the wooden plank that was going to be their shared canvas. He knew that he was probably going to be assigned the job of filling in the larger areas of colour as Eva was much better at the finer details than him, but he didn’t care, he wanted to do something for the café she had put so much effort into; something more than just his inheritance.

The electrical mutant took a moment to look around his surroundings once more, still amazed at how much work his friend must have put into this place, at the moment most of the computers were covered by opaque plastic sheet and all we’re powered down. The fireplace on the opposite side of the large open room lay empty but would hopefully be able to house a nice warm fire in the winter when it’s needed; the large plush sofa’s looking into it and a couple of chairs either side. The main tables and chairs had been pushed to the side and covered so that they could set up their painting bench; Taylor smirked at the old sheets covering most things, what did Eva think he was going to do, start lobbing paint around!

Taking one end of the plank he helped Eva lift it, it wasn’t too heavy and he easily moved it over to the table they were using as a workspace, as they set it down he looked at Eva and said earnestly; “Thanks for letting me bring Sean and eventually Ben along, Sean’s been having some problems within the family at the moment, his father, my uncle, he’s pretty sick and getting out and doing something a bit different will be good. Me and Ben have been trying to get him out but it’s hard.” He smiled widely at Eva again and started unpacking all the paints, brushes and stencils that were in the box beside him, setting them down on the free space on the table.

He opened up some of the paints in front of the pair and passed Eva the fine brush while he took the larger one and looked at her with a glint in his eye; “So, where do we start?”
