The latest recruit
Jon sat with a hunched back over the computer screen, a rather strong cup of coffee next to him, the air in his room was laced with the smell of coffee beans but he seemed not to notice. He raised the cup to his lips and drained the remainder of the cup, screwing his face up, he hated coffee but it gave him that perk to keep his eyes open.
He moved the mouse as the computer gave a blinging noise to let him know Bekki had just appeared on the msn he had downloaded. A second later an orange bar at the bottom flashed along with another "bling" noise telling him she was trying to talk to him. he clicked on the bar.
Bekki: Hi Jon, did you get there alright?
Jon: Yeah
Bekki: I was just worried, you hadn't called.
Jon: I've been busy.
Jon: Sorry.
Bekki: Thats ok. I miss you already.
Jon: Look I have to go there's someone at the door.
Bekki: Okay then I'll speak to you soon, take care.
Jon: I will.
Bekki: I love you.
Jon: I love you, bye
He closed down the computer, the words had seemed hollow and empty, more so than usual, but then being with Bekki was better that being alone. He didn't feel bad about lying to her either, she could be so clingy sometimes, always needed to be reassured that he still loved her.
He stood up pushing his chair backwards, crossing to the bed, glancing down at the picture next to his bed. It was of the five of them, taken for them when they were at the beach once. His eyes fell upon him Cat and Bekki, happy smiles upon their faces, a smile which Riley and the others would probably never see on Cat's face, at the rate things were going. She was pretty when she looked sulky and stubborn but when she smiled she really was beautiful. She was wearing a small pair of frayed denim shorts and her famous bikini which had the flag of the united states on it. She was standing with her arm around his waist, her head resting against his shoulder, his eyes travelled across to Bekki, she was tall and thin, with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. They were as different in looks as they were in personality, Cat had enough attitude for the both of them and Bekki had the confidence to be nice to eople and strangers and most especially in meeting boys that Cat sometimes lacked, but they were alike in the fact that they thought the world of each other.
He frowned picking up the frame and staring at the pair of them, the photo had been taken ages ago, before everything had become all messed up between him and Cat. Had he imagined a partiality towards him on her part, she wasn't the kind to send out false messages, but then perhaps he had been just fishing for them. Cat wasn't the kind to make any advances on a man unlike Bekki. She had known Jon was off bounds anyway, but she just didn't know how to flirt, it didn't come naturally to her. Bekki had attempted in vain to teach her but the boys Cat tried to impress were just totally confused by her mixed signals, she tended to be nice to them one second and the next try to bite their heads off.
So Cat stayed single and when Brad and Nina paired off she spent several lonely weeks by herself until Brad had discovered that his sister, Nina had been hit by the boy she was dating. The boy had ended up hospitalized for a week, having had his nose broken in two separate places. One thing Brad did not like was anyone laying a finger on his sister.
Jon sighed and put the picture back down again, he still wasn't sure which one had wanted more, maybe he wanted Cat just because he knew he couldn't have her. Remembering the touch of her soft skin against his, her beautiful coppery mane on his chest as she slept.
he looked across at the other bed in the room, wondering who his other room mate was, he had been told the guys name but he'd forgotten it. The man left very little sign of his existence, Jon was tempeted go go over and snoop around his things but he decided he had better not, the man might walk in on him and then he'd have some explaining to do.
ooc: How about him and Riley being roomys? That could be funny lol. Even though Riley aint there at the mo, anyway just a suggestion.

(ooc-There's a character about to be introduced into the Initiative, instead of playing with an NPC, woudl you rather wait for him to play with? Up to you, if you want me to NPC, I'd be glade to )
Re: The latest recruit
ooc: Yeah Chris's character? I dont mind, which ever you want

Re: The latest recruit
Jon looked around him, he had only been here a few hours and that had gone by in a whirlwind of lectures and demonstrations, meeting people, half of who he couldn't even remember and having a rushed tour of the facilites. It was a hive of activity out there but he sat in his small neon lit room in a quiet haven. Everyone seemed to know what they were doing and where they were going, he supposed he would get used to it in time.
He looked over at his room mates bed, wondering where he was, Finn, something. That had been his name, though his first name still evaded him. He let out a sign, running a hand through his hair and down the side of his neck.
He tossed himself down upon his bed without bothering to undress, closing his eyes and letting his mind drift far from the initiative base.
Jon was awoken several hours later by a heavy knock upon the door, he jerked his form upright wondering where he was, then let his muscles relax as he remembered. He slid himself off the bed and made his way to the door pulling it open, noticing at the same time that his room mate still wasn't back.

Re: The latest recruit
As John opened the door he could see several events taking place, the most noticeable was the Initiative operations leader standing before him at the door. The other was a group of Initiative operations personel surrounding a partially shrouded figure, who's face was covered up but a vast network of plugs could be seen long his bare arms.
The operations personel then led the figure about 3 or 4 doors down the hallway, and placed a key into the lock of the door, as they opened it a almost blinding light flooded the dully lit corridor, the operative's shielded their eyes and escourted the figure into the room.
John's attention was brought back to the operations leader, when he cleared his throat. "Sorry...I.." John mumbled, before having his explanation cut off by the operations Leader.
"Here is your duties roster for the day" the Operations Leader spoke, in a militarised form as he handed John a black folder containing several sheets of paper.
As the Operations leader turned away and started to walk back down the corridors, a confused screaming could be heard from just down the hall, which was followed by a streaming collection of Orders. The Confused screaming subsided into a pityful moaning, before the operatives walked out of the door closing it carefully behind.
Re: The latest recruit
ooc: Chris we've had this converstion before now, please do not speak for my characters !!!!!!! I dont mind them being moved a bit but please don't speak for them, it just defeats the purpose of rpging.
Jon looked down at the black file in his hand, closing his grip slightly tighter about it as the screams reached his ears, His curiostiy was aroused and shutting the door quietly behind him he made his way towards the door.
He arrived at it, at the same time as the opperatives left, but too late to see what they had done to the man inside. He stepped forwards and laid a detaining hand upon one of their shoulders. His voice low as he spoke.
'What was that thing.' He said nodding towards the door. It was obvious to him that he still had much to learn about the Initiative and their opperations. He just wished he could have told Bekki and the others where he had gone, he had been informed simply to tell them that he was leaving to take upon a new job. Bekki had been in tears when he wouldn't tell her where he was going or what he was doing, she really cared for him and she felt like she was loosing him and she didn't even know what to.

Re: The latest recruit
The operative looked to John, a subtle smirk spreading accross his face, "He is a New recruit, he is a victim of 25 years of genetic experimentation, he is still ajusting to his surroundings" the Operative replied, his tone was down to earth and showed a slight sign of compassion and sorrow for the person in the room they had just left.
*****
The brightlight was starting to loose it's blinding effect on James as he sat on his bed curled into a ball, looking around his room in fleating glances. He could feel his energy and strengh build up, he sat for a futher 10 minutes before sliding his legs down and swung them over the side of his bed and slowly got to his feet, he walked upto the window.
Just below the window was a small plant, it's leaves were turning white, it was deprived of sunlight due to the position where it was planted, the plant reminded James of his past, being deprived of a life, and to see the world through his own eyes and not through the teleprojectors that were used to educate James during his time in the Directive's bio tube.
James looked to the plant and placed his hand over it, without thinking he could feel a surge of power run through him and from the palm of his hand a small beam of light illumiated the small crack in the wall where the plant grew.
James stayed over the plant for a short while, and left the plant after it started to regain a green colour in it's leaves. James then walked around his room, looking at every item in close detail, he was facinated by every thing around him, he had only learnt about their functions but had never felt the textures of each items for himself.
James picked up a book that was sat ontop of an empty desk, it was bound in black leather and had in silver writing *Operations Manual*, James picked it up and felt the warm, contoured texture of the leather before walking towards his bed, before long James was sitting in his bed reading the operations manual word for word with such a devoted interest he could of been mistaken for reading a bible, Due to the heated compassion he holds for the Initiative who he sees as the ones who brought the end to the Torture that the Directive enforced upon him.
Re: The latest recruit
He looked at the man infront of him, glad that he hadn't had the same trouble "adjusting" to his surroundings. His curiosity instead of being subdued was increased by the information. He was glad he wasn't the only new recruit around.
The man turned and walked off quickly, his heels tapping away at a smart pace up the neon lit corridor. Jon watched him leave, waiting until he was out of sight before he turned back to the room, with morbid curiosity. He wondered what the man had been screaming about.
Making up his mind in a second Jon stepped forwards and rapped loudly upon the door, there was a minutes silence and then the man inside the room moved, he could hear him.
The door opened, a figure stood framed in he light, a black sileouett. The light blinded Jon, he squinted and placed a protective hand over his eyes, trying to see the elder man's features.
'You okay mate?' He said, more interested than concerned about the others welfare.

Re: The latest recruit
James stood slightly behind the door trying to concel the scars and plugs on his arms and torso, his eyes scanned over John, his face showing a jittery expression
"Ye...ye...yes....I...I am fine... why shouldn't I be?" James stuttered, coming slightly out of the cover of the door, holding onto the Black Operations Manual tightly, John could see the marks from where is nails were indented on the cover.
James exchanged fleated glanses between John and his own room, trying despirately to recall some of the basic interaction training he undergone when he was freed from the bio tubes
"W...Would you l...l..like to come in..." James blurted out, the stammer subsiding as he started to build his confidence, he knew deep down that the stranger at his door could not be a threat for he is a part of the Initiative and the Initiative his is family, or so what he was taught to belive.
Re: The latest recruit
He raised one dark eyebrow as the man tried to speak to him, he didn't seem to know what to say to Jon, his voice stammering as if he was speaking words he hadn't used before. Jon looked at the scars and upon his torso, wondering what had caused them and what they were for.
'Cheers.' He said, stepping into the room, blinking under the intense light, he stood for a few seconds his pupils shrinking to protect his eyes. Once the natuaral adjustement had taken place he turned back to the man. Seeing him properly for the first time.
'I'm Jon Haloway.' He said holding his hand out towards the other. Jon had decided he was going to make friends with this man and jon always got what he wanted, had had wanted be firends with Bekki, Brad and Nina and he had got that, he wanted Bekki and she was with him. He had everything money could buy him and he could manipulate people with a scary ability. He could run rings around his man he thought, the poor fool looked as if he didn't even know his own name. 'Who are you?' He said still holding out his hand, a smile upon his face.
ooc: Sorry it's so short but I've got stupid exams today. I carn't wait for Lisa to get her hands on him lol, poor James doesn't stand a chance.

Re: The latest recruit
James grasped his cold boney hands around John's much warmer and stronger hand, James held it for a few moments then let go, looking deep into John's eyes he could tell that he was more interested in the visible plugs and scars over his torso and arms, the fact that attention was being paid to his past made him uncomfortable,
Walking over to his bed side table he picked up a neatly folded general issue grey jumper and hurridly threw it over his head and quickly pulled it down so that it would concel the reminders of his past.
James then turned to John, "My Name is James Couven, my parents worked here or so i was breifed, but i was not informed of their current position...that is if they are still living" James spoke, this time his manner was supprising to John as he was able to speak normally without the nervous stammer.
James was no longer uncomfortable around John, he had considered him a freind and with him being part of the Iniative he could see no threat being presented by John, for the time being....
He watched as James pulled the jumper over his frame, put to do so he had to turn around and Jon caught sight of the evil looking plugs upon his back and the scars that traversed his pale skin. Jon wondered what had happened to him to make him act this way and what he had gone though to give him those scars.
Jon walked over to the desk chair and slumped into it, making himself comfortable, he wanted to suss this man out ... and he had time to do it.
'So ...' He looked out of the window and then back at James his eyes showing his curiosity. He let the chair swivel from side to side as he rocked it with the toe of one booted foot.
'Why were you yelling a few minutes ago?' He asked the question straight out, there was no point hinting, this guy didn't look like he would understand subtlety if it slapped in around the face.

Re: The latest recruit
James was caught dumstruck by John's question, as he was about to sit on his bed, but paused crouched over the edge of the bed for a moment and with a sigh sat down of the bed and pulled his knees level with his neck,
James looked to John, his eyes giving an expression that was asking John to stop, but deep down James knew he would have to talk about his past, tears were starting to well up in the sides of his eyes, he blinked them back
"I...I... was asleep, when they moved me to my room....... one of them woke me by knocking the water jug off..." James said looking to the small wet patch that was just next the to table oposite John, he paused for a moment and with a cracked voice continued "When i woke up i could only see a bright light, and these siloetes, they .........bro...brought on a bad memory" James spoke taking his gaze off the wet patch and nestling his head onto his knees.
Re: The latest recruit
This James was one weird customer he decided, looking the man up and down. He looked like he'd never been outside in his life, his skin was so pale, Jon's own frame was as golden in colour as Cat's was. The result of many hours of lying stretched out in the sun on the beach with Bekki offereing to rub sun cream into his shoulders. He often wondered at the change that came over Cat when she was at the beach, she could often be quite grumpy but once she was sunbathing she was the nicest person going. If she was a feline she would have purred, he was sure of it.
'You're one hell of a deep sleeper.' He said, giving the man his full attention, wanting to ask another question even though he could see that the man didn't seem to like the interrogation he was being put through. He said, he was itching to ask what memories but he didn't think James was in any state to be questioned further about that.
'How did you get those plugs?' He said, crossing one leg across the other, his foot resting on his thigh, toying with the laces upon his boot.

Re: The latest recruit
"I...I... Do not know how i got them, all i know is that i have them as a result of genetic experimentation by the Directive" James paused for a moment pain and anguish was spilling about him, he looked to John Solemly,
"I Know what you are trying to do.. You.. You are trying to gather all you can about me, i may about about a year old of conscience but i have learnt a lot through the education by the Directive through the tele projectors" James continuned in a more defiant tone, which proved as a shock to John James looked to the bedside table and opened the doors and pulled out a chrome plated bi page folder, he the tossed it in John's location,
"I....I... do not wish to talk about it, but if you are so interested in my past then feel free to read." James spoke as John picked the folder from the floor

Re: The latest recruitHe's smarter than he looks. Jon thought as he picked up the book, eyeing the man for a moment, but then to survive in this dog eat dog world he needed to be. Jon actually quite liked the fact James was standing upto him, he admired that in a man.
He flicked absent mindedly though the book, skim reading certain pages, his eyes centering on one certain page, he glanced up at James as he resumed his hunched position sitting on the bed, clutching his hands to him.
'So your a mutant then?' he said, not scared, he was even more intrigued, not knowing he had been friends with one for over a year. He smirked as he thought about Cat, it was a good thing she wasn't here she had a thing about mutants, he'd seen the look upon her face when she watched news clips about them. 'What's your power?' He flipped the book onto the table beside him, looking around the room, wondering where the mans possessions were.

Re: The latest recruit
James looked to John at his last few comments, a shiver ran down his back, he was briefed that he would be judged differently if it were found he were a mutant, even by those in the Initiative, but yet John did not act like some the narrowminded Mutant haters,
"you'll see" James spoke, his voice more relaxed, he was starting to enjoy his time with John being to interact freely with another was presenting feelings that he had never felt before,
James relaxed a bit his legs sliding flat onto the bed, he then closed his eyes and the light of the room started to dim down, until it was pitch black, John looked out of the window and could still see the light from the outside, but the room he was in was as if it were a black hole, completely devoid of light.
After a few moments the light started to return to the room, John looked to James, he could see that there had been quite a drain on his energy.
James took a few breaths, "There you go, my power is still untapped, according to the Operative i have to report to, he is filing a request for my insertion in a... an... acaddamy....ran by an ....Xaivior??" James spoke, breaking into an unsure mumbling at the end.
Quote:There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path
Re: The latest recruit
Seeing James was relaxing he smiled, a friendly smile, he could be charming when he wanted to be, pleasing to anyone, he wanted to fit in here and he wanted this man to be his friend rather than his enemy.
He looked around him as the lights dimmed and went out, his eyes barley adjusting to the darkness before the light returned. He squinted and blinked rubbing his eyes. The man seemed to be breathing harder, his hand was trembling as if it had drained him of energy to use his powers.
Xaviers, he mused over the name, not realizing he would be at the school himself the next day, nor that he would find Cat there, in the last place he would expect her to be. he looked out of the window and watched as a pigeon flew past the window, landing in a tree nearby, it began to coo to it's self softly, he looked back at James and gave the man his whole attention.
'Cool.' He said and nestled down more comfortably in his chair ready to question away, he was surprised the man wasn't more curious to know about him, it what he had just read was accurate James hadn't conversed with that many people. Maybe he didn't get the gist of meeting someone new or he just wasn't curious.
'So what else can you do?' He said looking into the man's brown eyes that looked slightly bloodshot.

Re: The latest recruit
James opened is mouth to speak but before he could reply to John the intercom speaker in the corner of the room crackled to life and the voice of the Initiative high commander, James picked up the black operations manual and got to his feet, before walking upto John and placed the book onto the desk behind James.
"We...had...be...better go" James spoke, his uneasyness was returning, he was starting to be intimidated by the fact that there will be more people, his paranoia was starting to return. James walked to the door and slowly opened it, and peeked his eyes through the gap, and quickly withdrew into the room, the corridor was starting to become crowded.
James slamed the door shut and held his back against the door. "I....I....cannot go....ther...there are to....many of th....them." James spultered beads of sweat were running down his face.
Quote:There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path
Re: The latest recruit
Walking down the corridor with the group, the young Initiative operative skilfully dodged the others who hurried towards the Center hall, eagerly waiting to see what the high commander had to say to them.
But Joan's mind had wondered off, more interested on the where about of her team mate Riley Finn, not to mention the new guy who Riley was said to be roomed with.
The genetically advanced girl tapped against the door to the room, the smell of fear seeping from within the walls like a thick fog to her senses.
Joan:"Agent Jon Haloway, I'm Special Agent Joan Cortez, I've been sent to escort you to the Center Hall for a mission briefing."
Her voice was soft, yet filled with curiosity, her mind picking up the presence of two humans inside the room, one possessing the mutant gene.
