Time for Improvement! - Circe and Dryad (Matt's originals)
"Again?"
With mere disbelief in his eyes, Aran stared at the fiery beauty who sternly nodded. It was the first day of the week they had decided to call "off-duty-week" but at the moment, Dryad had the faint feeling that Aurora had gotten something terribly wrong about its meaning.

"Bu-but we already did it like what? Eight times?"
he tried to argue but before he could go on, she interrupted him.

"We need to train, Aran, seriously! This time, there had been two teams fighting which increased the chance of winning, next time, however, it might be just one group having to battle an army of the same size and for this case we need to be prepared, sweetheart"

Without waiting for his reply, she went back to the Danger Room's control panels changing the settings.
"You, for example, need to improve your ability to estimate the amount of power needed , dear, otherwise you will end up lying totally burned out on the ground with fiends all around you!"

Level 100
Various Oppononents
No Weakness Specified

The computer's voice sounded and Dryad's disbelief turned to shock as he shouted over the rising noise of dozens of holographic enemies.
"LEVEL 100?! Are you kiddin'??"

There was no more time to talk left. With no one being in the control room, being not on guard could turn out to be a deadly mistake so he fought minding not to waste his mutant ability of radiating solar beams.

"Gonna regret this" the greening mutant hissed shortly before the first of the frightening realistic creatures reached him. Even he himself wasn't sure who he was referring to.

The battle went on for ages - or so it seemed to him - and while Circe burned several of the holographic beings at once scoring uncountable points, Aran had problems to even defend him, not to talk about actually striking back. Those who made the mistake of coming really close to him, the toxic mutant could poison easily but those sending energy beams or related untouchable attacks from afar, he could not reach without using his strongest power.
This, however, was what he wasn't allowed to do very often if he wanted to survive. Those vampires at the Center of Inquisition had been no match with their vulnerability against even the weakest sunbeams but "various opponents" meant what it said. There were maybe one or two who had the same weakness.

For a moment, Aran had enough space to take a deep breath but just as he tried to gather his strength to go on, a high-pitched scream sounded from where he had seen Garnet hovering around just some moments ago. Obviously, someone had added new creatures to the computer's repertoire which she hadn't studied yet.

Everything happened too fast for Aurora to be fully registered. While - as she noticed with some occassional glances - her friend was experiences problems yet had the situation to a certain (not-deadly) degree under control, she was easily defeating everyone who faced her. It had been almost too easy... until IT suddenly popped up out of nowhere grabbing her from behind. Feeling clawed hands bending her arms on the back, hearing the sound of leathered wings whipping the air and feeling the warm breath of the creature on her neck; all of this was too much for the fiery mutant who suddenly felt incredibly helpless. Panic made her release a short scream and seeing Aran immediately react and running towards her triggered a simple thought
*Gosh, I so hope he's got a plan!*

In fact, Dryad had not the faintest idea of what to do. Those two hovering in mid-air he couldn't reach and while a part of him was wondering why Aurora didn't simply cover herself with a flame aura to burn the gargoyle chaining her arms, the other knew what panic could do to someone.
The winged creature was turning his back on him as several smaller beings he couldn't really classify stepped into his way grinning madly. Aran guessed that those were inspired by the result of one of Sinister's experiments but whatever they were, they made it impossible for him to get closer to the endangered girl.

Just as Circe had managed to calm down a little, the obviously rather dumb creature suddenly remembered that "holding" didn't equal "killing" which was its assignment of the day, so to speak. Feeling the claw wandering to her neck, Aurora screamed again still unable to do anything else. Actually, it was one of the gargoyle's abilities to cloud its victim's mind with panic so it had an easy play.

Hearing the second scream, Aran's head jerked around. This was just ridiculous! All of those creatures were nothing but illusions! Dangerous, deadly, as good as the originals illusions, true, but not real in the original sense of it.
And now one of those was threatening his friend's life just before his eyes and he couldn't do a thing since even if he used his rays, the would go right through the winged creature and hit Garnet as well. He didn't know how much the fire elemental could take.

"Circe!
he shouted in his helplessness stretching his hands out to her although it was a senseless thing to do. The urge to protect her flodded his mind leaving no space for any other thought and as if this had triggered something, his body began to sparkle.
Suddenly, golden light escaped his pores, yet it was different to attacking directly. It was somehow of a static quality, flickering shortly before him before popping up beneath Aurora and the clawed one. Aran'kla didn't exactly know what he was doing, but the split of a second later, the gargoyle was missing his claws howling in pain and Garnet was free.
A sparkling shield of light was hovering behind the ebony haired girl where the demonic creature had been before.

Aran's astonished gaze was quickly drawn back in front of him again as pircing pain reminding him of the small ugliness right in front of him. The distraction was enough to let the shield collaps. Fortunately, as Dryad realized shortly after, since those 5 seconds had been almost as tiring as shooting a ray with full power.
The greening mutant sighed quickly concentrating on the battle again as did Aurora after shouting a "Thank you".

This promised to become a very tiring week!

Life can be like a stone thrown in the sea. It creates waves, maybe changing something, maybe not, but no matter what it causes, every single wave will disappear into nowhere...
