Code Name: Skinwalker Affiliation: Xavier's Gender: Male Age: 17 Birthday: November 6th (Scorpio) Hair: a darker blonde with lighter coloured highlights that is usually spiked up or into a fauxhawk Eyes: two of a deep brown in colour Mother: Theresa Morrow - made up - alive Father: Henry "Hal" Morrow - made up - deceased
Physical Description:
Standing a short 5"7 Trevor Morrow hardly seems a figure worthy of note however, were one to see him on stage they would quickly revise this opinion. In person he's a quieter than most teenager who walks with a certain grace possessed by dancers but who keeps mainly to himself or to a small group of close-knit friends. On stage he has power and dances without fear of what others might think and without any reservations.
He's a fairly good looking guy with a fairly lean body but one full of muscle from his dancing and riding. Trevor's hair is a dark blonde colour with highlights that is carefully styled into spikes each morning when he has the time. Just above his ears are a few lines where the majority of his hair has been shaved away with a razor to create his own very unique haircut. It might imply a rebellious nature or one of mischief but in this case anyone pegging Trevor as a rebel would be greatly decieved.
Pale straight eyebrows are set above Trevor's warm brown eyes and a slightly wonky nose completes the picture. When Trevor smiles it's usually a closed lip smile which is pleasant but doesn't seem like he's truly feeling happy as a usual smile would imply. When on stage, on horseback or with someone in whose prescence he is truly and utterly comfortable he smiles a real smile revealing straight white teeth, the result of two years of braces.
Sometimes Trevor's chin and the sides of his face illustrate early days of growth in the form of pale blonde hairs yet he never lets it get too long and the growth is somewhat appealing on the seventeen-year-old. He is a soft-spoken tenor and one of those who will listen to all that is being said more attentively than most but who won't respond to anything unless asked.
His clothing style is very casual and comfortable. He wears running shoes and, weather permitting, long shorts that come past the knee on him. These are partnered with a plain T-shirt, usually one that doesn't even bear a design. Colour doesn't matter much to Trevor but he usually wears black, navy, grey or crimson, pretty standard clothing colours for a guy his age. When the weather is too cold for shorts he instead wears a pair of jeans that are not too baggy nor too fitted. A sweatshirt or sometimes a cord or jean jacket is partnered with the pair of jeans. The name of the game is relaxed and clean.
(For reference it's difficult to describe the hair style so I'm including a picture)
Trevor's powers are still something new to him and he is very much in the stage where he is still exploring his limits and capabilities.
"Skinwalking"
Skinwalking means that Trevor can slip into another creature's mind and see what they see and feel that they feel. He feels like he becomes the creature but doesn't in actuality. He could concentrate and slip into a soaring robin's mind and he would feel the urges of the bird and think how it thinks and feel what it feels but he would not actually be the robin. This is a distinction he has just made a few months prior.
It has it's bonuses because Trevor can see further away if there is danger coming through the view of a bird or smell something through a wolf's keen nose. It also gives him the incredible gift of knowing what it feels like to soar and to swim as a dolphin although he will never actually be these creatures.
However there is danger involved in Trevor's abilities and limitations. Obviously he can only slip into the mind of one creature at a time. He cannot be a wolf and a monkey both, only one or the other. The danger is in getting too caught up in being a creature. Trevor doesn't just slip free of a creature's mind but has to separate himself from them willfully and if he is in bliss hunting or swimming it can be difficult to go back to himself, even if he knows he has to. The temptation of a different life is sometimes very great.
Also Trevor's body is left vulnerable whenever he mind shifts so it is best to do alone in a safe location, like a bedroom, where he will not be interrupted or with a group of people he trusts who can watch out for him. If Trevor stays away from his body too long and does not eat or drink he will starve to death or die of dehydration, perhaps without knowing it. This is a scary thought to the seventeen-year-old and one that terrifies him.
Trevor is still new to his powers compared to other students and he is currently only able to slip into the minds of animals. When he is there the animal, if intelligent enough, might feel a nagging sensation like they are being watched but otherwise will be unaware of the intrusion. The animal is in control, not Trevor.
Trevor doesn't know what will happen if a being whose mind he is in dies at the time. Would he be stranded without a body? Would he die as well? He has no sure answer but the fear that he might die is enough to keep him very cautious. In fact if this animal was to die Trevor would be extremely disoriented. His mind would jump to the next closest creature and he would attempt, in a few days, to get back to himself.
With enough training and years to grow there is a thought that Trevor's powers will expand to include humans. Again there would be no control, just the ability to see and feel what they feel. There is also a way that his powers could mean immortality but in such a form that he would not even be sure he wanted it. His mind could jump, like it does with an animal, to the next closest body and he could live through others but never in control, never seen and never free is hardly a life at all and it's not something Trevor would be likely to choose unless his own life was cut extremely short (and no that's not foreshadowing).
Obviously a jump is not incredibly straining for Trevor but distance makes it harder to jump initially and he may not be able to reach people from a further distance away. Trevor's powers do sometimes work unconsciously. This means that he may have dreams of being another creature that are not so much dreams as they are out of body experiences he can't control. Luckily his unconscious dreams have less stability and control of thought so an alarm, a loud noise or a shake would rouse him easily from it without his being trapped inside another's mind.
[Uz the answer is yes if you're wondering if the powers were inspired by a certain crippled Prince of Winterfell.]
History:
Trevor was the first child and the only son of parents Hal and Theresa Morrow. Before marriage the college sweethearts had never even considered having children, quite content to focus on their careers and eachother instead. However nature has a funny way of making people change their minds even when their minds are firmly set.
As soon as she held her sister's newborn child in her arms for the first time Theresa did a one eighty. How could she pass on having her own child and raising him to her values and joys? She began worrying about how she was going to break the news that she wanted a baby afterall to Hal.
As it turned out Hal wasn't quite as against having children as she had thought and he just hadn't wanted to put pressure on her to have their children. It wasn't too long before Theresa was pregnant. She would later tell friends and family that she had always known it would be a son. Indeed she never even thought about names for a baby girl.
When the child was born he was named Trevor James, after his two grandfathers. Trevor was a dream child. He never seemed to scream or cry so much as his aunt's baby girl and Theresa later joked that he was why she decided to have a second child, because she had had no idea how easy it would be.
Hal was a businessman and his job took him away from home a great deal but when he was home he made a very good father. Theresa had had a passion for dance but she had trouble losing the pregnancy weight and things only got worse when she became pregnant for a second time. The dancer gave up her classes and concentrated on being a mom, with a small amount of regret but not enough to keep a person awake at night.
Trevor was a quiet baby and he became a quiet toddler. He loved to move and walked earlier than most children though and his parents were often having to chase after him or hold him by the hand to make sure he didn't run off. Always running, always active.
His sister Meghan, born two years after Trevor, was everything that he was not. She constantly smiled, she screamed and begged for attention and she spent hours just being held by her parents, wrapped safe and warm in a blanket. She had her mother's brunette locks instead of Trevor's blonde ones. It was almost hard to believe the pair were siblings at all.
The baby of the family came along another two years down the line with Gwenhwyver, the last child Theresa would have. Gwenhwyver was delicate and a finely featured child with dainty features and not a great deal of baby fat on her.
Strangely enough Trevor showed little interest in any hobby in particular. His parents enrolled him in Little League but he got frustrated when he could never hit the ball. By the time he hit grade two he was already having trouble understanding math although he was creative and active enough to do well in subjects like music, art, english and gym. Theresa felt like she had to find Trevor something else to keep him occupied.
Theresa had been enrolled in dance classes early by her mother and had loved them. She had decided already to put little Gwen into a primary ballet class and decided that perhaps active Trevor could take dance classes as well. At first the boy balked, not wanting to do anything of the sort, but when Theresa enrolled Meghan as well he grudgingly agreed.
Meg had very little interest in dance. She did the exercises with her eyes closed because she was so bored and she begged to not have to continue. Little Gwen took to the classes and loved being able to gallop around the room like a pony or using a toilet paper tube rice shaker to keep rhythm. Yet it was Trevor who was the big surprise as he had a natural aptitude for dance and looked forward to his classes each week. Theresa enrolled him in modern dance to compliment his ballet classes.
When he was still little a game of hide and seek gone awry resulted in a lasting phobia for young Trevor. He was playing with his cousins and had decided to hide in the dark storage closet of the house however the door jammed and he could not get it open again. The small space was dark, scary for a child, and his cousins assumed he had already come out or been found. Trevor spent an hour in the space before his mother finally came looking for him. The result of this was claustrophobia that he still bears. If he's nervous and in a small space he begins to feel like he can't breath and may pass out, a most embarassing situation and one Trevor has to be careful not to get into.
Meg had pulled out of dance classes long ago but she found a new possible passion for herself when she turned 9. Her mother had once said that at one point in their childhood every girl goes through a horse phase. At nine she herself had played with model horses, used her barbies for riders and had learned everything about horses. Meg now began this stage but for her it would not be a phase.
Soon Meg's bedroom walls had a horse border and she was begging for lessons. Theresa dug out her old horse books like The Saddle Club and Thoroughbred series and her daughter read them avidly. Finally she was enrolled and began English riding lessons at a stable a half-hour's drive away.
Mom dragged Trevor and Gwen along to see their sister's first lesson. This was a stable where you also had to groom and saddle the horse yourself and eleven-year-old Trevor wandered, looking at the ponies and horses. They weren't exactly prizewinners but he began to see the allure of horses nonetheless. Gwen, on the otherhand, actually seemed afraid and wouldn't get too close to any of the horses lest they kick or bite her.
Kids ask for things they want and don't take into consideration their parents sometimes. Parents sometimes give into their kid's whims without thinking of the strain it might put on their funds. So when Trevor asked Theresa didn't refuse. She saw the connection between the boy and the horses and she bought him the neccessary equipment and began him in lessons with his sister.
Hal was working more and more these days and more and more of his jobs were out of the state. He didn't come home so much and the girls and Trevor were slowly adjusting to life without him. However none of them were prepared for his death the following year. A car accident claimed the life of Henry Morrow and his dependants were sent reeling.
Everyone reads about these sorts of incidents or watches them on the news but no one dreams of being an active part of them. No one thinks about being in the front seat of the aftermath. Suddenly there was a need for money and Theresa began searching for a job, finally finding one in business and putting her degree from before her marriage to work. She was no longer a stay-at-home mom and Trevor was often left to care for his younger siblings. They had to ride the bus to get to lessons because mom wasn't there to drive them and sometimes they stayed over at their aunt's house while mom was out of town. Trevor grew close to his cousin Kara, the now teenage girl who had inspired his parents to have kids in the first place.
They had to cut back on a great many things but each kid was devoted to and very good at their lessons and so Theresa found a way.
A problem came when the time of year rolled around for speeches. Trevor could dance in the spotlight on stage every year in his dance recital and be perfectly at home yet put him in a classroom in front of thirty people to public speak and he would be hopeless. Trevor tended to mumble and keep his eyes down, reading off the sheet instead of truly performing a speech. It was obvious he wasn't cut out for something like politics!
By the time he turned thirteen Trevor was an already extremely promising dancer who amazed his teacher with his easy movement. As he danced though his grades in other areas slipped and the teenager struggled with math even more than before, when Hal had occasionally tutored him. Embarassingly enough he was put into another class, one especially for those who had problems in mathematics.
At fourteen the Morrows moved house, downsizing from a townhouse to a smaller appartment. It was cramped but it was liveable and it was home. As long as Gwen had her dance, Meg her horses and Trevor the best of both worlds they were happy enough.
It was at fifteen that Trevor had an unusual incident. The appartment did allow pets and they had a low maintenance cat that they had adopted. While stroking the tabby's soft fur Trevor grew dreamy and he had thoughts of lying in warm sunlight having his tummy scratched and of drinking cream. He started abruptly, convinced that he had felt what the cat had been feeling for a moment. There was no way this was possibly though and after a few weeks Trevor forgot about the incident.
At sixteen he had problems again though. While riding, Trev suddenly saw from a slightly different perspective, felt a weight on his back, cold metal between his teeth and thought happily of an apple treat that would hopefully await him. This abrupt change in thought caused Trevor to lose control and he fell off the horse's back. Aside from a bruised ego there were no real injuries but now Trevor was wondering more. He hadn't just imagined this, he had been the horse!
While going through this crisis Trevor was faced with a different problem that youth brings, hormones. He had a big crush on the girl who he often partnered with and called his friend, Nicole. She was outgoing, popular and pretty and he couldn't help but like her. It was something that would never be though because Trevor couldn't stand the idea of being rejected and never told her how he was feeling.
He had another few years of high school to go but already there were starting to be offers and suggestions. His dance teacher thought he should go to Julliard but Trevor's family didn't gave the money for that. Still they might have made the money and given it a go somehow were it not for a further emergence of his dorment mutant abilities. This time Trevor slipped into the mind of a bird without knowing he was doing it. However he stayed longer and knew this was no accident, no dream. Finally he mentionned everything to Theresa. It was she who thought that this might have something to do with the mutant abilities she had been hearing about as so dangerous from local councillors and even friends.
Theresa had no issues or experience with mutants herself but she did realise that if he was one of these people he would not be easily accepted, especially if these "mental slips" seemed to occur at random. When first gently told that this might affect his career Trevor sulked. He said little and didn't appear angry but his mannerisms and one-word replies said it all.
It took him a few days to accept that a wrench had been thrown into his path, an obstacle even larger than the earlier death of his father.
For a time they weren't sure what to do. Trevor remained more careful and more alert and he continued school and classes as though nothing had ever happened. He told no one but his close family, he certainly didn't tell Nicole, who was still his partner in the activities that required one.
During this time he threw himself into the coffee shop job he had been working part-time in order to have some extra money. He worked more and harder than ever yet Trevor didn't actually spend his cash very often. He wasn't big on fashion or going out with friends and he saved quickly for the one thing in his life that he did really want, a horse of his own.
At first Trevor hoped his powers would just go away. When it became apparent that they would not no matter how much he ignored them he began to experiment with what exactly he could do. He would have dreams sometimes where he knew he had joined another creature's body but they weren't controllable to him so Trevor worked at it with the same dedication he showed his riding and dance.
The first triumph was, fittingly enough, with a horse. For a few moments Trevor was the horse and he was able to withdraw when he wished to. From then on his ability grew and Trevor began to enjoy his powers. He could know what it felt like to be a bird and soar through the sky or to jump as a horse. It was most incredible. However Trevor soon saw the danger of his abilities, the danger that he might never come back to himself and that his body would starve while his mind soared.
He spent a few hours as a bird and found himself starving when he got back...as well as late to a dance class. It began to worry Theresa but she wasn't so sure about mutants and their abilities. After some discreet asking around she heard about one Charles Xavier and a school he ran for young mutants.
While his mother was asking around Trevor was doing his own asking around as he checked out horses for sale. The bay gelding he bought in the end was not an extremely expensive or wonderous horse but he was steady and excellent at jumping, the thing Trevor loved most about horseback riding. Trevor bought the gelding and named him Broadway Melody, after part of his favourite movie "Singing in the Rain".
By now Trevor was juggling a great many tasks. He had to try and balance his schoolwork with his lessons, looking after his sisters, caring for his new horse, who he boarded at the stables where he took lessons, and exploring his powers. He would end up exhausted and Theresa feared he would run himself down until he became seriously ill.
She hesitantly broached the subject of joining this institute for people like him where he could better understand his powers. Trevor was unsure and didn't like the idea of leaving his close-knit family behind at first but he began to warm up to the idea. His conditions were that he got to bring "mel", as he called the horse, with him and that he could continue dancing. Theresa agreed and they made the arrangements.
The drive to the institute occurred a month later and Trevor bid both his sisters a fond farewell, promising to phone them often. They were siblings and did occasionally fight yet they were also all friends and Trevor was protective of his two younger sisters. The horse was settled in the stables, the family was off and Trevor was left to try and adjust to a completely new environment in his first extended period of time away from home.
He has been at the institute for a few days now but is still getting used to the classes, the people and the powers. It will be a big adjustment but one he hopes will work out in the end because he dreads not being able to go onto a career in dance as a result of being unable to completely control his powers.
Personality:
Trevor is a quiet young man who might, upon first glance appear to be either snobby or shy. He's not really either and is quite approachable, it's simply that Trev doesn't make the first move and introduce himself, he waits for others to talk to him. It takes him awhile to feel comfortable around a person and until he is comfortable he will remain guarded but once he has gotten to know someone his great sense of humour and quirkiness come out and he smiles often. Those who get close to Trevor will find him a loyal friend and the fort knox of secrets. He is easygoing and appears quite laid back, able to laugh and take a joke, but when it comes to things he is serious about (like dance) he is determined and of a single mind.
Trevor doesn't actively seek out the spotlight. He isn't one of those people who has to be the centre of attention and at a party he will either be the one listening to a friend in a quiet booth or the one alone in a corner with earphones on. He dances not for the attention but because he feels he has to dance. It is an incredible form of expression to him and almost like therapy, a place in which to release all pent-up emotion into something constructive.
He idolizes Gene Kelly and has seen "Singing in the Rain" more times than he can count.
Generally he prefers listening to talking and is a very intuitive person, something that might stem from or be connected to his powers of going into the minds of others and seeing things as they do. While not an excellent student in any normal discipline Trevor is not a bad psych or english student and achieves mainly B and C grades, except in math where he struggles even more. This doesn't matter to him because he knows he will never have a career in something academic so long as he still can ride or dance. In math he is something of a dunce, unable to understand or to relate to the subject at all.
Trevor has a long fuse and isn't too easily frustrated but when he is or when he's deeply upset about something he can be extremely testy or sulky. This poses problems when he doesn't always tell someone what's bugging him and lets it fester so that he snaps at friends with seemingly no reason.
At home he's a loving son, one who is very close to both his mother and his younger sisters. He helps without needing to be told to try and take the burden off his single working mom, she who has always been there for him.
Likes:
Dancing - just call it his one true love. He loves the freedom that comes with dance and the expression through it. Trevor dances modern (aka. jazz, lyrical, contemporary) dance mostly.
Riding - Trevor's other love is riding horses. The two exercise different muscles and at a serious level it isn't neccessarily a good idea to the mix the two but Trevor couldn't give up either one and takes his chances.
"Broadway Melody" - His Horse who he saved up and paid for himself and for whom he begged and pleaded with the teachers in order to allow his horse to be stabled with the school horses.
His powers - That allow him to experience what is is to be a number of different creatures.
His mom - Trev is a bit of a mama's boy having been raised by her and her alone for a long while. They remain very close and he calls her every few days.
Math - Trevor despises math about as much as he loves dance. He's poor at it and he can't stand the subject, not understanding how it relates to life in the big wide world.
His Powers - The fear of staying away too long and losing himself in the process is very real.
Small spaces - Trevor is claustrophobic and can't stand small spaces. Even being inside Gotta Dance's stall with the door closed is enough to make him worry a little. If trapped long enough in an enclosed space he begins to feel like he can't breathe and has a variety of a panic attack.
Brussel Sprouts - Come on, they're just gross.
Public Speaking - Ironically enough the guy can perform on stage for hundreds but giving a speech in front of thirty people is nervewracking and something he hates.
Re: Trevor Morrow - Skinwalker (work in progress)
err.. is he still WIP or done? *is cleaning up application section and feels all adminy*
For everyone comes the time when they have to take over responsibility. It stands to argue whether there is also a time when they can get rid of it again.
Re: Trevor Morrow - Skinwalker
He's done. I don't have much time (you've noticed I'm sure) so I don't know if I'll actually play him much or at all but yes the bio is done.
