Trip / Mark LeFayeName: Mark Shawn LeFaye Nickname: Trip, derived from the most common usage of his mutant ability. Code Name: Trip Affiliation: Student Gender: Male Age: 19 Birthday: November 23, 2005 Hair: Dark brown, mid-length, and layered a bit. Eyes: Hazel, They glow a bright unnatural blue while using his mutant abilities. Mother: Alysia M. Osbourne (Biological) - Created - Living - Human
Karen Elizabeth Jameson (Stepmother) - Created - Living - Mutant (Enhanced Speed) Father: Johnathan K. LeFaye (Biological) - Created - Living - Human
Gregory Allen Jameson (Stepfather) - Created - Living - Human
Physical Description: SUPER Hunky. (Angie generously wrote this description for me, but just In case it's not enough....)
Trip has medium length dark brown hair, often times seeming black depending on the lighting. His eyes are an intense medium shade of brown, while using his mutant power, they give off a blue glow, kind of like a cat does. Usually, Trip keeps a small well trimmed goatee. It leaves him with a slightly rougher look, combined that ever present and oh so mischievous grin of his, he gets quite a bit of attention for his looks. Trip gives off an almost devious feeling, and quite frequently seems like he's up to no good, although he usually is.
Trip is very well trained physically, seeing as he practices both swimming and boxing on a daily basis. He has a runners body, muscular, but still long and lean. Style wise, who knows what he'll be wearing. His style changes day to day, he could be wearing T-shirts and jeans one day, and the next maybe a two piece suit with no undershirt and a studded belt. There's no specific style Trip sticks too.
Powers: Gravitational Reversing: Trip is capable of reversing the charge and direction of gravitons in any area he focus's upon. The concentration it takes depends on the radius of the area Trip is reversing the gravitons in. Area's with a larger radius are hard to keep control over. Generally, the same can be said with the amount of upward force he generates, areas with a smaller radius have more force to them. The largest area Trip has been able to create had a radius of four feet, while using full concentration, it was only capable of lifting objects an inch off of the ground. A radius of about three inches, using full concentration, could flip a vehicle if placed under the vehicles tire.
The ability to levitate an object using his power is highly dependant on the object itself. Finding it's center of balance is basically the key to keeping it up. For instance, a simple ball could be held up for several minutes. Something more awkward like a person however needs more attention to balance, levitating someone would last maybe twenty second at best. It's enough to break a fall.
In the past, there have been a few outbursts with his ability. The most significant resulting in severe harm to another human being. But, the more he learned to use his ability, the more control he's built over it. It isn't likely to outburst now, but due to it's telekinetic nature, it could possibly be triggered by overwhelming emotion.
Currently, Mark is only able to reverse the gravitons in one focus area. With the aid of a more experienced telekinetic, that number could increase, along with the amount of force generated by those fields. Currently, he doesn't know much about his abilities, and rarely uses them for more than entertainment purposes.
History: Just about a month after the birth of her newborn son, Alysia Osbourne, Mistress to a fairly wealthy real estate tycoon; was diagnosed with Post-Partum Depression. Basically meaning that the young adulterer was incapable of motherly emotion toward her own flesh and blood. As if that wasn't bad enough, Alysia wasn't the most hospitable person anyways. She was violent, self serviant and completely dominant. Greed was her sin of choice, and nothing else really made a difference to her. Johnathan, then going through a bitter divorce, was quickly flattened by the manipulative Alysia. He became her doormat, a subservient broken shell of a man. He no longer had any say in their relationship. Her attitude toward the baby grew more and more volatile with time. Mistreatment was an understatement. It didn't take long before the state of New York intervened, having been alerted by a business associate of Johnathan's. Young Mark was placed into adoption before he had even reached the age of four.
Mark's foster parents made it known from as early as he can remember, that he was adopted. That knowledge did cause him to stray away from them a bit, instead he'd seclude himself in his room, where he'd do nothing but drawings. They were all highly personal, and quite well done for a boy his age. Art seemed to come naturally to him. His step-family however, tended to get on his nerves growing up. He felt that they weren't his real family, and refused to listen to them. They had no right telling him how to live. He felt they only took him in because of a program in which funded them a significant monthly income. Mark became highly cynical, and unsure of the intentions of others.
Out of the house, Mark was friends with your stereotypical bullies and trouble makers. They ran amok around his neighborhood. Minor property damages, common usage of all the four letter words kids shouldn't know, stealing from the less popular kids, it was almost routine. It wasn't uncommon for a police officer or two to come along and scold young Mark and friends each day. They raised hell, and did it well.
At the age of twelve, a school yard fight resulted in another boy being shot up a height of twelve feet, only to come crashing down face first onto the hard and unforgiving concrete. Mark had no idea just what had caused such a reaction, and wouldn't find out until a few years later. They fight had left his classmate with heavy bodily damage, a severe concussion, and in need of surgery. The other child passed away two days later. The boys parents pressed charges, Mark was found guilty, and was sent off to a juvenile detention center. He was to remain there until the age of eighteen.
Mark quickly adapted to the ways there. There was in essence, a pecking order, and he quickly arose to the top of it. It wasn't too difficult, mainly because of the way they segregated the place by age. It prevented the younger ones from being around the older teens. To adjust to this place he had to be meaner, tougher, and more intelligent than everyone else, and that he became. Though he had no memory of her, Mark had become just as cruel and manipulative as his biological mother. Not long after being sent there, he took up one of the many extra-curricular programs, boxing. The detention center provided his education, daily speeches, music programs, anger management classes, and countless other daily programs. Mark attended every chance he could get, depending on how good his behavior had been that day. There was one major reason for that though, these classes along with lunch, were unisex functions. Girls, although he never really noticed before his imprisonment, were something he definitely missed. Mark found himself talking with them more and more. He became quite the little heart-breaker, and was often caught kissing or standing a little too close for the many of the guards liking.
Two years had passed, and the visits from his step parents had become less and less frequent. That only made his tougher though. He bolder and braver each day, constantly defy the cell guards. It was entertaining, it showed them he didn't fear them or their consequences. Sure, he lost privileges and such, but it didn't matter. When he couldn't get to the gym, and didn't have his sketch pad, he'd simply make songs just to anger them further. He also gained himself a new nickname, Trip as everyone would call him. For some unknown reason, every time someone went near his cell, they lose their footing and fall to the ground. The truth was, Trip had discovered himself capable of defying the very laws of gravity. Granted it wasn't a large area, but his skills grew with time. He had plenty of it left there.
Finally, the day came when he hit eighteen. To his surprise, his step parents were actually there waiting for his release. He couldn't figure out why, seeing as how the checks no longer came. Cynical as ever, he passed it off as some anterior motive. They'd never have his trust, trying was pointless. But, still he stayed with them, it was shelter. About a month after his release, he took an apprentice job with a local tattoo artist. Most of his nights were never really spent at home, instead he preferred to stay out partying, or in the bed of one of his nightly conquests. His time at his step parents house was basically for food and laundry. During one of those laundry days, Trip had accidental used his power to throw his clothes up toward his hands, while his step mother was walking past. She revealed that she to was a mutant, and explained there were more people like himself. Legally still having custody of him until the age of 21, because of a court order brought on by several misdemeanors, Karen decided to send Trip to place a that a friend and fellow mutant had once mentioned. She figured it would be best for him.
Personality: At times, Trip tends to be very apathetic to most people, but in a rather defiant way. He's highly cynical, and doesn't believe people when they show genuine concern. There is a bit of arrogance on his part too. He's quick to judge to others too, frequently passing them off as weak, ugly or stupid. Even while relaxed, Trip seems like he's up to no good. Chances are he probably is up to something devious, however. Trip is highly intelligent, quick witted, manipulative, and just plain cruel. Honor isn't at all important. Cheating is perfectly fine in any situation, whether sports, games, or just plain life. When annoyed or angered, Trip becomes even meaner by nature. His words become highly venomous, crude, and often shatter the limits of common decency. There's damn near nothing he wouldn't say or do. Trip doesn't however like to initiate fights, he simply antagonizes until the other party strikes first. Any type of authority almost always falls on a deaf ear, often times Trip intentionally defies those adult figures. The reaction of others alone makes all of his mistreatments worthwhile.
There is another side of him however. A highly charming and confident side. Trip can look a person in the eyes make them feel like they, and they alone, had been given a doorway inside of soul. There is a slightly softer side underneath all the cold and cruel acts of his, and shows just enough to peak someones curiosity. Trip is much more soft spoken, and fairly aware of just to get what he wants. He knows better than to use cheap lines, and ancient tricks, everything he says is off the top of his head, true or not. He always seems to listen, and is more than able to recall even the smallest moments with a person. However, he doesn't like getting what he wants to soon, he feels psychical relationships are better given time. Not that he wouldn't take a free offer, but that person's more likely to be tossed aside when something better comes along.
Were he to allow someone close to him, they'd find a very different side of this bad boy. A highly humorous side which he doesn't seem to let onto at first. With those he cares for, there's just about nothing he wouldn't do for them if need be. Trip has a large sense of loyalty, and would never turn on a friend. He is an artist, and doesn't like to share his drawings, the best drawings come from emotion and tend to be very personal. The same can be said with his music and the few songs written himself. Even those closest to him aren't really brought into those expressions of his.
Open minded is a bit of an understatement when it comes to Trip's sexuality. There's very few things he won't try. He definately isn't a homophobic person at all. Trip does consider himself to straight, as he isn't emotionally attracted to men. But flirtation, falsified effection, and even sexual acts with a man aren't a big deal to him. He doesn't general pursuit men, unless doing so would prove benefitial somehow.
Likes: Trip's largest muse would have to be his art. His drawings are an escape for him, Their almost always personal and tend to be kept from the sight of others. Technically just another version of artistry, Trip frequently does both tattoo and piercing work on both himself and others in his spare time. Although not certified, Trip has passed many of New York's licensing qualifications. Before his move to the mansion, Trip was only two weeks short of the mandatory six month apprenticeship, thus he was unable to achieve his license.
Music is another self indulgence of his. Mark knows how to play three instruments; drums, bass guitar, and guitar. But, he doesn't currently practice his bass skills. His singing ability isn't too bad either, when playing softer and calm songs he sounds fairly good. Style wise, his music ranges between soft rock to full blown speed metal, added with the occasional country or blues. He knows a fairly broad amount songs on guitar, but rhythm is where his real skill are. Seeing him behind a drum set is definitely a sight to remember.
Alright, so there is a little bit of a dork in him. In his free time, it's not unusual to find him fixing or taking apart something perfectly good. Mark's fairly good with mechanics, vehicles are his biggest area of knowledge. Before moving to the mansion, he frequently made money fixing his friends and neighbors cars. He's also fairly handy when it comes to fixing household appliances, printers, fax machines and various other devices. Although he does have a better knowledge of computers than most, he's not quite up to level with them.
As if he didn't have enough hobbies, Trip's quite recently taken up swimming. He finds it to be a better work out than weight training, but occasionally does if his schedule permits enough time to. In addition to that, Mark has been boxing since the age of twelve. One of the first things he learned in boxing was just how important footing was, with his mutant powers he's found quite simple to throw another's footing off and take advantage of a fight in no time.
Trip takes pleasure in making others suffer. Although he doesn't usually go as far as to physically hurt them. Mentally however, there are few limits that he won't completely shatter. He shows no respect for any of the school's staff, and ninety percent of the students. Cruel mistreatment, intentional verbal assaults, and various pranks should be expected. Trip loves to see reactions, and is quite good when it comes to invoking them.
Dislikes: Authority, Trip can't stand being told what to or not to do. He feels that his life is his own decision, and no one else has any right to tell him how to live. At times, he'll intentionally break rules and defy those that attempt to guide him. Trip has never needed anyone's help, and almost takes offense to the assumption that he needs to be guided.
Xavier's Institute, yea he's pissed about being there. Trip feels his life outside of this place was far better. He had a job, an apprenticeship, and his motorcycles. Now all he has is a dorm room, stuck in the middle of this over hole. Trip has no problems with his mutant abilities, and has no desire to learn more about them.
Rejection is the worst. Trip hates more than anything, being told no. It fuels him though, making him more and more persistent with time. Not getting what he wants only makes him want whatever it is he can't have that much more. He is slightly spoiled and knows it. Not getting what he wants will spark a bit of frustration, but Trip is fairly good at dealing with that.
Privacy is highly important to Trip. There are times when he just doesn't want people around. He likes to seclude himself away somewhere where he can sit back, relax, and maybe draw.
His step-parents, despite their genuine concern for him, aren't considered to anything remotely close to family. Trip doubts their every motive and action. He was raised knowing they weren't his real parents from as early as he can remember. His time in Juvenile detention was highly destructive to what small bit of relationship Trip did have with them. They grew tired of the negativity surrounding visitations, and grew hesitant about further visitations.
Furthering his education isn't at all important to Trip either. He's highly likely to skip classes if given something more appealing to do. If he's overly tired, Trip isn't going to make an effort to get out of bed in time for any class. That's not to say he won't show up, if boredom has taken it's tole on him, Trip might just decide to attend a few classes. Trip arriving late to a class isn't unheard of either, he does tend to do things at his own pace.
Sample Post:"You vindictive b*tch! Who the hell do you think you are, leaving me to a place full of mindless sideshow rejects? Probably because I don't bring you a monthly paycheck anymore, isn't it??!?!" Sounded off the utterly infuriated new Student, but the small black compact car that he spewing that venom at, simply drove off. Now he was left standing, with nothing but a small suit case by his side. There was a huge mansion just beyond the large iron gate that stood not far from his back. A few strands of his dark locks found their way to those deep brown eyes of his, only to be pushed away. Give it a week... There bound to expel me anyways... Those thoughts pushed aside a bit of that anger, making room for that famous grin of his. So mischievous, it always meant he was up to no good. It meant something horrible was playing out in that twisted mind of his, and it would only be time before something was going to happen.
Lifting the suitcase with his right hand, Trip slipped his other hand into the suit jacket he was wearing. It was part of a three piece suit, but the undershirt was nowhere to be seen. He had simply thrown on the otter piece of the suit, and fastened a couple buttons. From the jacket he slipped out a single cigarette, and a lighter. Trip usually didn't smoke, only when he was angered he'd resort to that habit. It calmed his nerves, and kept him lashing out at someone. As he approached the large iron gate, he stopped placing the cigarette into that devilish grin of his. A small spark of lighter came before it was dropped to the hard black pavement. "Waiting's such a pain..." He added calmly, with a sigh. Trip didn't actually look to see if there was any sort of communication system, He'd look when he damn well felt like it.
Trip's attention kept going back to the colossal white building. He had lived in a large building before, but this seemed far more hospitable than your average detention center. The soft hum of cars passing behind him dragged the young mutant back from thought. "Might as well get this over with now.." He spoke to himself, tossing his half of cigarette into the street. Bringing himself closer to the gate, those deep brown eyes of his located the gate buzzer system. A small yawn came while reaching forth to press the button. "Iahhhhh..." He started calmly, only to have another yawn take over just as he attempted speech. "I'm new here... But, I can leave. I don't mind..." Maybe that would be enough, he did try to get in after all. It wouldn't be his fault that no one answered. Only, now to get away before... BZzzzzttt. Sounded the now unlocked gate. "Guess not.." A rather emotionless tone came now. With a look that made it clear he wasn't thrilled to be there, Trip made his way to the front door.
Right, Angie warned me this one was coming up (err..."warned" in a completely positive kinda way of course *shifty look*) soooo short'n sweet:
Powers: So what he basically does is Telekinesis, right? The source of his power aside, that's the effect...hm... right. I guess it's different enough to pass
Anyway, what I'm wondering, could he basically create several smaller fields to lift something heavy and large? Does his control/the strength of the field(s) decrease with their amount as much as with their size, i.e. would be five small fields be more effective than one large one covering the same area?
Also, how much control does he actually have? Say he created a zero-gravity field under a person, would he be able to keem them stabilised, let them floating around and such or is his power more of the activate, move/flip/crash, deactive type? Are tantrum-induced activations still likely?
Any more details would be highly appreciated
History: Please add a bit about his social life before the...um... incident. Did he have friends? A romantic life (yeah, I know he was 12 but hey, might be an early bloomer XD)? Anything remotely normal? *lol*
Um, I don't know a thing about "juvenile detention centres" *lol* Is it a mixed gender type of thing? If not, it'd basically mean that Mark spent his entire puberty among guys only, and still you mention "nightly conquests" later on which I think would be a little unlikely under said circumstances. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it *can't* be, just make sure you explain things a bit further. I mean, psychologically speaking it's quite a tough thing to spend that decisive time of one's life in jail as it is, if it had been a men-only type of place, it'd be even worse.
What about his education btw? And where/when/how did he learn to play those instruments?
Also wondering how a 12-year-old can rise to the head of the pecking order...
Personality: Did I understand it right that he's not really big in the honour department, i.e. would he use his powers to win a boxing challenge or whatever?
You also mention classes - does he attend them regularly? If so, how does that tie in with his anti-authorical attitude, if not, how does he avoid getting into trouble?
Note that the whole X-Men fighting for justice and equality thing is NOT known to the average student! To them, it's just a school with a hell of a budget XD
Sample: Noooow that's a little on the sort side. You don't need to edit, just keep in mind that three well-sized paragraphs (around 350ish words) should be the absolute minimum for a post. 'course there're days when inspiration's low and nobody will say anything about (at least not seriously ) but please try and keep the average length above that... thanks ^^
Right, done now! thanks for applying another char.

There comes a time in everyone's life when we have to take over responsibility.
The question remains whether there is also a time when we can get rid of it again.
well done, that guy's gonna be the entertaining kinda trouble *has the vague feeling they've got another candidate for Exiles* XD...
oooh! come to think of it, could you please add something 'bout his attitude towards homosexuality? cos now that we've got four gay(ish) characters on the board, that matter's getting kind of important.
you'll need one more stamp to start playing.

Re: Trip / Mark LeFaye
Looks ok to me.....ill trust you to add his reactions to homosexuals.......but on the whole (and despite Michael begging me not to do this) STAMP
Ohhhh would he take Cyclops mechanics class??? Cos there is one authority figure

Re: Trip / Mark LeFaye
ah, sweet! *ticks box next to egotistical bastard at the institute* that should do
thanks for extra info
