UVEITIS FRIENDLY CONSULTANTS IN UK?
WE ARE TRYING TO COMPILE A LIST OF CONSULTANTS WITH AN INTEREST IN UVEITIS IN THE UK, PARTICULARLY THOSE WHO TREAT PATIENTS WITH BIRDSHOT. WE ARE TRYING TO ESTABLISH JUST HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS RARE CONDITION IN THE UK, AS WELL AS WHO THE PEOPLE ARE WHO TREAT IT AGGRESSIVELY.

I KNOW ABOUT THE CONSULTANT'S ON THE MERSI WEBSITE LIST AND OTHERS FROM UK UVEITIS WEBSITE via Phil Hibbert) BUT IT IS NOT A COMPREHENSIVE LIST AND I AM SURE THERE ARE OTHERS WHO SHOULD BE ON IT. WE ARE PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN ONES WHO HAVE A NUMBER OF BIRDSHOT PATIENTS.
IF YOU HAVE ANY EXPERIENCES YOU WANT TO PASS ON, NAMES OF HELPFUL DOCTORS IT WOULD BE MOST USEFUL. EMAIL ME OFF THE BOARD @ folkard at mac dot com.

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF SETTING UP A UK BASED SUPPORT GROUP PARTICULARLY FOR PEOPLE WITH BIRDSHOT AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE.

WE HOPE TO HEAR FROM A FEW OF YOU FELLOW SUFFERS, AND OTHERS INTERESTED WHO HAVE USEFUL INFORMATION.

CHEERS ANNIE

Re: UVEITIS FRIENDLY CONSULTANTS IN UK?
Hi Annie. Love your advocacy.

Doesn't seem likely that ophthalmologists in the UK or elsewhere are likely to have "many" birdshot cases in the practuce given how rare the disease is.

Will be interested in what you learn.

Report on conference for Birdshot October 2008
Hi this link will take you to a page which provides links to a synopsis of what the various speakers spoke about at the conference that was held in October.

Dagmar has very kindly prepared these notes, so if anyone is interested, please take a look.

Birdshot.
Thanks for that link, Annie. Just read it and it is exciting - all these new treatments! I smiled seeing that s-antigen reference. I'm still puzzled though!

Hope all is still going well with the website and group.

Maxine.

Starting a new topic
Hi Annie-

If you hit the "New Topic" button at the bottom of the page listing all the current topics, you should be set.

Good luck!

Re: UVEITIS FRIENDLY CONSULTANTS IN UK?
You know it is not obvious. I can't find it anywhere in Internet Explorer and in Safari, it is labelled with a question mark at the top of the page - not the bottom

Perhaps it is to do with my security settings - it's the only thing I can think of.

Weird - because I never used to have this trouble and my eyes are no worse.

Buts thanks for trying to help.

Annie

Re: UVEITIS FRIENDLY CONSULTANTS IN UK?
Look on the right top of your screen, under the header and hyperlinks, on the right. There is NEW TOPIC button, which is an image, and there is also a hyperlink that says Add Reply. Either of these will let you start a new thread. You will not be able to see these links when you are typing in a text box, only when you are the index level (list of posts level).

If you cannot see the bule NEW TOPIC button, you are probably right that your browser controls don't let certain images through. But, you should be able to see the ADD REPLY hyperlink.

Let us know if you find one of these.

Best,

Liz (Webmaster)

Re: UVEITIS FRIENDLY CONSULTANTS IN UK?
Well Liz
you are right but the strange thing is sometimes there is nothing there at all, and if I take my cursor to that point and let it float there it will say new topics in a popup, but if I move the cursor away it disappears. There is no way I would know where to click, unless you directed me to the position. I think it must be something to do with my security settings or anti virus software because the images at the top of the page only show themselves as red crosses in white boxes. This in Internet Explorer. It displays differently in Safari.

Its not as thought I am illiterate as far as computers are concerned, but sometimes it makes you think that madness is just around the corner!

Thanks for your help. I can't help thinking it might be a reason why the posting seem to have dried up a bit recently.

New topics
Hi Annie-

I use Safari. I guess I was standing on my head when I said it was at the bottom. Though I could swear sometimes it is.

The boards often go through busy times and quiet times. People are often reading even if they aren't posting. So if yo have something to say - go for it!

Beverly
