Wednesday 14: I will give today to you.
The tingles in Scott’s arm still lingered and a limp stuck in his walk, though his wings had become more mobile now so he could balance himself with them if he wanted to rush somewhere. Which at the moment was to catch Tessa, who would have just finished her classes. Restlessly Scott followed the aura he could pick up from her fairy blood, weaving his way through the crowds. She had been so kind to him, and so nice, today Scott was determined to do something nice for her in return. The backpack hindered the fairy’s speed, and part of him felt bad sprinting off at the bell and leaving Michael and Riley in the med bay so brashly.

Although Scott was enjoying the short moment he got to read in his own language to Riley that was fun even though Scott knew Riley wasn't fluent in his tongue, the fact Riley couldn't at least speak the basics and was still interested in learning more, it meant a lot to Scott. Especially those times where the Prince was so terribly home sick and he could say a few things in his own tongue and there was a chance Riley would get the gist of what was being said. Maybe Tess would want to learn their language... though then again if she was from another region outside his own then it was possible her native people spoke a different version of his language.. but it would be fun to teach her a word to two still, if she wanted to know them that was.

Part of Scott was glade he couldn't bolt there like he usually could, it gave him a chance to think of something, to figure a way of carrying out the surprise… not that it was really special, at least compared to what he knew he could have set up if he was back home. But it was all his idea and he was proud and excited at the chance to show his thankfulness for her being such a lovely friend. At her sight just down the hall he turned into, walking with a group of others who had just left the class with her and were probably making their way to their dorms or the rec room or some other meeting place.

"Tess!" Anxiously Scott called out for her, wanting her to spot him sooner since there was no telling who would see him from the people around the hall and who would try to bulldoze him over in their rush. "Tessa!" A hand raised with a flutter of his wings before he quickly side stepped a taller boy who was also yelling out for one of his mates to wait up for him.

There was an undoubtedly thrilled, nervous and excitedly bubbly demeanor about him as Scott smiled at her, his restlessness had gotten stronger the last two days where he hadn’t been so mobile. He was also supposed to still be resting but he felt if he stayed indoors a moment longer he would go insanely energetic and probably drive anyone who sees him insane as well. At least that’s what he figured, he didn’t realize he tended to be able to keep to himself instead of imposing his outbursts onto others.

"Are you free at this time?" A hopeful desire was obvious as he waited keenly for her reply, "I have formed a surprise for you." He added in an effort to coax the positive response he preferred, though his eyes momentarily flickered down as a stab of shyness flickered across his features but he looked back almost immediately. If she said yes he wasn’t sure he’d be able to hide his delight at her acceptance, he had gone through a lot of trouble, especially since his arm was still a little clumsy… But if she said no he’d feel like a complete idiot, though no one would know… he would know, and if she wasn’t able to come now then all the preparation for the event would be ruined.

TBC: Tess.

Re: Wednesday 14: I will give today to you.
Despite being a good student and one of the rare few who enjoys most of their classes Tess would have been lying had she claimed she was not glad to be free for the day. Her favourite class, which was English, came at the end of the day but after awhile one wished they could just daydream or take their mind off of Shakespeare, Dickens and the other so-called "greats" for awhile. So as the professor dismissed the class Tess let out a barely concealed sigh of relief and slung her book bag across one shoulder so it hung by her hips on the opposite side of her body.

"Ahh the joys of Hamlet," the brunette next to her said aloud and Tess had to smile. Although she didn't mind the bard she preferred some of his other works to the much-applauded Hamlet. The girl who had been sitting next to her, Jennifer Lavelle her mind supplied, was a friend of a friend so the two weren't close but Jenny was quick-witted with an easy smile and Tess was enjoying getting to know her.

"At least we haven't been assigned the essay yet," Tessa said in response, her slight shyness around people she didn't know all that well coming into play slightly in the quietness of her voice. She placed the novel in her bag and stood up, quickening her pace to catch up with the taller girl and Jenny's friend whose name she couldn't remember. The other girl was quieter and a little more like her but harder to get to know as well and she didn't seem to open up to people in the same way that Jenny did, often putting people at ease in an instant. The trio, along with Alice who had been off with the flu for a few days, had formed a study group a few weeks ago and although the upcoming test wouldn't be for another few days it paid to study ahead and be ready.

They headed down the hall together, heading for the library to get in a little reading and quizzing of one another on the latest act of the play when Tess heard someone call her name. She turned her head slightly but continued walking although her pace had slowed and she lagged behind her study partners.

"Tessa!" The voice sounded more familiar now and Tess stopped altogether and spun around as a brightly smiling Scott made his way through the crowd towards her. She smiled back in what was becoming an almost automatic response to the sight of Scott. She couldn't help it, somehow whenever they were together his excitement and zest for life managed to rub off on her and the half-fairy always ended up feeling happy even if nothing particularly amazing had brightened her day.

"Are you free at this time?" The hope that she would be available was evident in Scott's voice and it took less than a second for her to make up her mind. "I have formed a surprise for you." She certainly hadn't needed any extra incentive but Scott had just provided it since Tess tended to be a curious type.

Tessa cast a look back at Jenny and the quieter girl, her look half of apology and half guilty hoping they'd understand portrayed through those amethyst eyes that still seemed so strange to the mutant students. As friends often do Jenny read more into Tess meeting with a guy than the blonde fairy would have but that was the right of a friend. Their plans hadn't been concrete anyway and since the encounter gave Jenny the right to mercilessly tease her new friend later the witty brunette was all for it. The pair moved around the corner and continued to the library, giving Scott and Tess as much privacy as was possibly in a crowded school hall.

"I'm all yours," Tessa said in response with a bright smile but as she realised how the comment might unintentionally be taken her cheeks flushed slightly and she said, "I mean I'm completely free." Although the words she chose might not have entirely shown how enthusiastic she was about getting to spend some time with Scott, and that he was feeling better enough to come looking for her, her tone certainly did and it would have been hard to miss, even for the unobservant person.

Re: Wednesday 14: I will give today to you.
This is a slightly random reply, I just didn't want to dive them into the thing he planned, besides, there is a stop before hand! *cackles* ...I almost forgot about it.. but Scott reminded me!

An anxious wait wasn’t something Scott was coping well with as his excitement kept the bubbling eagerness in gear and the stop felt like it would drag his enthusiasm down if he tried to stay in one spot too long. Bright eyes peered towards the departing group for a moment, only shortly after wondering if the girls saw Tessa speaking with him or standing around on her own talking to no one. It was nice to think that everyone saw him, despite the contrary, but usually those who knew of Tess’s blood line and believed that she really was a half fairy, then they would see Scott whether they knew him to be one as well or not. Same could be said for the dreamers of the school, who always wanted to believe in what they couldn’t see or thought anything was possible, those with open minds had a better chance of seeing Scott right off then those who were too logical for their own good… like Ben had first been.

"I'm all yours," The phrase she used caught Scott’s attention in a slightly taken back stare, a hint of surprise with a slight confusion and blank look all muddled together. That was most definitely generous offer to make someone, offering themselves to another, then again maybe it was a human thing… whatever the case it was actually strangely nice, knowing there was someone who was all theirs. But then again, Scott never wanted to own anyone, or be responsible for masses of people… which could be why he had trouble adjusting to the role of a Prince. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help people, but he didn’t like that his own life had to take a back seat while he dealt with others, he had no aspirations to be King like all his other brothers and enjoyed his freedom and choices. Though in the split second of thoughts that crossed his mind, Scott knew she probably just meant her time, she was all his instead of dividing her attention elsewhere, which was a nice sentiment if that were the case.

"I mean I'm completely free." A twitch of his wings went unnoticed as they rested against his back, a crooked smile warming his features as his excitement shone again, though his grin brightened even more as he realized that was a round about way of saying she was free to be with him. Humans tended to beat around the bush, to throw hints even if to them it seemed like a straight forward statement, to outsiders it was always a guess as to if they were saying yes or no… especially when it came to their constant use of sarcasm. The first word that spilled from Scott’s lips was definitely not English but obviously a real word from his native tongue, a thrilled exclamation which sounded similar to someone saying ‘excellent!!’ with the tone of voice and expression Scott had on while using it. But as he continued his sensual voice resumed on in English.

"Though please, we must hurry." It didn’t even occur to Scott to find the nearest door… he’d rarely been in the front hall, only when walking with other people or waiting hopefully for someone else to take notice of him. It worked sometimes, his most recent encounter was with a new student called Jacob. Instead the Prince waded his way towards the open window, glancing back over his shoulder as he felt another guy brush past him and momentarily separate the two fairies with an awkward ‘excuse men’ signaling he saw both of them clearly. Scott removed his backpack and held it in his hands, after that he wasn’t shy when he bolted down a parted group and dived with pin point accuracy out the center of the opened window, his arms firmly clutching his back as his propelled himself after his run up, though a skill twist of his body and support from his wings had him able to wait by the window anxiously for Tessa to follow.

"I have left something at the lake and wish to collect it." Continued the youngest of the youngest of the Devark Prince’s as he explained why the need for hast. Finished Scott as he told her of their destination. As Scott flew his wings once again began shaking off their glittery residue of enchanted dust, though unlike in a few fairytales it couldn’t just be sprinkled onto someone and suddenly enchant them, not for Scott’s family any way, he had to focus on filling the dust with magical properties, something he hadn’t really mastered all too well save for a few basic charms, like with most of his spells. More for show and entertainment then of actual power, but it wasn’t uncommon for someone his age to know little magic’s, or none at all.

The fly to the lake was always so much easier then walking, Scott couldn’t imagine how humans just walked everywhere and still be spanned across the four corners of the world in so large numbers. What Scott got for Tessa was safely hidden down under the water, still, he could worry someone would find it, after all, Arlen wasn’t the only one who dwelled in the lake and able to breath the water. A hand graciously was held out to Tessa, his smile assuring yet hopefully, a hint he was going to ask her to do something he wasn’t use she’d thoroughly enjoy – at least if she assumed she was going to get soaked following him in down there.

"I left my only family possession down there, would you trust me to keep you dry in the water’s grasp?" It seemed only fair to let her decide if she actually wanted to go down there, not that Scott intended on staying down for long, but he’d much appreciate retrieving what was hidden there so many months ago. Hopefully the sweets he got from home were still intact, the flight back to Hickory Park to meet with one of his old caretakers had used up most of his morning, though he got back by lunch and went about preparing things as a ‘thank you’ to Tessa. There wasn’t a lot Scott could get her from the human world because he didn’t have a dime on him, but from his own world he could have anything he wanted, as long as it was reasonable of course. A few requests were happily obliged by his old ‘nanny’ of sorts, at least one of the handful that served to watch him and his brothers. Going into his realm to retrieve the things wasn’t possible, as it could end up taking days of Earth realm time to get to his family’s palace and back, even though the journey itself was just an hour the most, including the stay to say hi and offer hugs.

Re: Wednesday 14: I will give today to you.
The crooked smile that spread across Scott's face in excitement pushed away the last small shred of guilt Tess felt for abandoning her friends and their planned study session together. The other fairy made some sort of exclamation which didn't sound completely English although it beared a resemblance to a positive exclamation such as 'that's great' or 'excellent'. It didn't throw Tess off though because she remembered some people from elementary school who had taken to using odd expressions to refrain from swearing such as "flying fruitloops". Compared to those sorts of exclamations whatever Scott had said was downright normal!

"Though please, we must hurry". Tess' finely arched eyebrows lowered as she furrowed her brow in a mixture of confusion and curiosity. Would whatever it was disappear shortly or was it an emergency of somekind? She wasn't sure but while with some other people Tessa would have asked where it was they were headed or what was going on she felt entirely comfortable with Scott and trusted him more than anyone else here at the institute. An awkward detour occurred as a male student brushed his way past the pair, momentarily separating them and disorienting Tess but then they were back on track and headed towards... a window? The violet-eyed fairy wondered for a moment why they were headed towards a window and not the nearest door but perhaps a window was closer or there was some other explanation so she shrugged it off.

She watched with a slightly nervous look on her pale face as Scott dived through the window, propelling himself then letting his wings take over. Tess had been raised by humans and as a result she used doors most of the time, using windows only when in her smaller fairy form. There was a first time for everything though and apparently this was Tessa's first time when it came to exiting through a window. The blonde preferred to keep her wings invisible when it came to everyday activities, sure that she would get stares and distract her classmates were they seen by all. Now she felt the need for their reassuring appearance for the idea of flying without visible wings seemed somehow nerve-wracking to Tess. A brief moment's focus where violet eyes were hooded behind lids and lashes was all it took then a pair of pale violet translucent wings with shimmering pale gold trim added to her appearance.

One of the things Tess loved most about being a fairy was her ability to change the patterns and colours of her wings. One moment she would have the feathered wings of a bird the next the double wings of a dragonfly. Lately she preferred a less over the top colouring of violet and gold which, in a slight bought of shallowness, matched to near perfection her golden curls and bright eyes. Satisfied now and ignoring the stare of one young student who had been walking down the hall as wings appeared on the blonde's back, Tess followed Scott's example and breathed a sigh of relief as she made it without clumsiness or injury out the side window.

"I have left something at the lake and wish to collect it," Scott explained to her once they were on their way and while that was on the cryptic side Tess appreciated the attempted explanation. There was no reason for him to be forthcoming or her so curious anyway. Hadn't he said he had a surprise for her and it would hardly be a surprise if he told her everything. Despite having seen it many times before Tessa still marvelled at the glittering residue when Scott spread his wings and shook off the dust. Her wings had no such dust and it was a new and magnificent sight to the unnatural violet eyes, one that never got old.

A hand was extended in her direction, a gesture that might have been charming if it hadn't been for the puppy dog look that followed. That was a glance Tess had seen in similar form on others, most commonly on those about to ask a favour that they thought you might not enjoy. She swallowed hard, hoping that her trust and faith in Scott was not about to be tested.

"I left my only family possession down there, would you trust me to keep you dry in the water’s grasp?" She trusted him certainly and Tess even trusted that Scott's fairy abilities would keep both of them dry but she still hesitated out of natural habit and anxiety before speaking. It wasn't the getting wet that bothered the young fairy so much as it was the thought of not being able to breath since she had no ability to breathe underwater and was not the strongest of swimmers although she could do a decent front crawl and manage to tread water.

"But how will we breath?" Tessa finally protested, worry clouding the usually bright face. She hoped that he could tell from her tone that it wasn't a flat out refusal or a denial, just a natural concern that she felt had to be answered before she could agree. To go to the bottom of the lake though, that image was enough to make her eyes begin to glitter with dreams. Somehow to the curious fairy it seemed very much an adventure of the magnitude you would see in an adventure movie to go to the bottom of a body of water and she wished it were possible but was not so positive that it was.

"I mean I'd like to and I do trust you," she added as an explanation however the end of that sentence clearly came with an unsaid 'but' leading to her concern about breathing. Silently Tessa hoped that he would be able to offer a simple explanation and assurance and that they could make his brief trip to the bottom but she just wasn't sure, particularly since she tended to naturally float when it came to swimming and wasn't sure she was able to sink.

Re: Wednesday 14: I will give today to you.
There was no need for words, Scott could hear her thoughts radiate from her, the way her eyes looked, the way she breathed, even her lips spoke to him of her concern. The longer he stayed with her, the more he got to know her, the greater his understanding of how she was raised began to form in his mind. There may be blood of his kin in her, but she was so human.. so attached to what she saw as normal with her human eyes that when she saw normality from her fairy’s side she questioned it. In a strange way, it was nice, usually people trusted Scott because they felt they had to, even if deep down they didn’t really trust him, because he was so young and inexperienced or some didn’t even think he would really know what he was saying, they would still put all their faith in him for the fact he was their Prince.

"But how will we breath?" It didn’t hurt him that she asked that, it was a reply Scott may have expected from a human and it amused him that they had so little contact with enchantments that were once so heavily a part of his day to day lifestyle. It was a little sad that Tessa didn’t just relax and take things as they come, but that’s only because he was so eager for her to have no concerns around him, even when he asked the most bizarre of things from her. The pins and needles in his arm ached rather bad still, usually he was constantly rubbing it and now that he was holding his bag it was starting to really push his endurance as his good hand was clasping over his bad hand for support while he hugged the back. Beast had given him a sling to wear and Scott had it in his bag but had decided on his way to see Riley if he could survive a little while without it due to the slight detest the prince found he harbored towards the thing.

"I mean I'd like to and I do trust you," An sweet though sympathetic smile formed as Scott listened to her. Bright eyes peered down at the awkward hold he had on his bag and then lifted once more to her face. Every part of him knew that she waited for his reply, waited for something to tell her that it would be safe… it was strange that he cared so much if Tessa trusted him or not. It wasn’t the same with others, most of the time Scott just wanted them not to trust him so blithely and let him earn their trust, Scott just felt that perhaps it was because she was partly of his own kind and he was at times so terribly home sick…

"I should put this down, please pardon me a moment." Last thing Scott wanted to do was drop the bag and then ruin his surprise, or one of them at least. The fairy’s wings suddenly stopped moving, his body dropping away from her an instant later before he fluttered once again towards one of the nearest islands in the lake. He would have taken Tessa’s only the way she wore it would have made it difficult to remove without him helping support her but clutching his own bag made that a little troublesome. It was only minutes before he was back, the sling was removed from his bag but only stuffed in the back pocket of his jeans for now, part of it hanging out visibly. At least his hand wasn’t totally dead any more… but it still looked odd when he got tired of holding it against his side, usually his hand was over his stomach but his grip was still pretty useless at the moment.

"Forgive me, all the movement is not so good for what I have in the bag." The Prince explained, trying to keep things a surprise while offering her explanations at the same time seemed polite but since he wasn’t the one in the dark Scott was able to keep his cool… The Prince always got too overly excited and curious around surprises, even if he knew it was just something small or not even anything special. The surprise in itself was always fun for him, if not also slightly tormenting.

"You were saying you wanted to trust me." Scott stated as he looked down at the water beneath them, but looked up at her as he finished speaking. "Close your eyes?" The way he spoke made it sound like a polite plea, a favor even. If her human mind was so focused on things then maybe blinding it for a moment could help. "Just for a moment." He assured her as his body drifted closer to offer out his hand once again, the best thing about being what they were was that they believed in faith and mysteries, they lived for hope and she was so young, she shouldn’t have to worry about everything she doesn’t understand. "I’m going to hold you, I’ll put my feet beneath yours for support and I would ask you to.. stop flying." It was a big thing, he understood that, it wasn’t like he looked in top condition and he’d wonder if she thought him strong enough even if he was fit, but he knew he could handle it… well… as long as they didn’t take their time. "Please? I will not allow you to fall." He smiled, something of a strong assurance beaming within it as he spoke with his softer tone of voice. "You have shown me what it is like to see things through human eyes these last few days, let me show you how to see things in another way." He wasn’t going to just assume she’d say yes, but he looked as if he really longed for her to put aside her inhibitions and take the chance and have the faith he wouldn’t let anything bad happen to her. The idea he would keep her dry but let her suffocate was a little bewildering to hear… it sounded like such a human thing to say as well, they were famed for fearing what they didn’t understand, for not having full trust in things they didn’t know, even if the safety of it was vouched for.

Re: Wednesday 14: I will give today to you.
An expression of relief formed on Tessa's face as she watched a sweet smile cross the face of the other faerie. Some part of her had feared so much that Scott might be offended by her hesitation in the face of his enthusiasm although as she now thought about it Tess knew that moment of doubt had been stupidity on her part. Scott had never been anything but sweet and patient with her, even though she knew so little about the faerie heritage that connected them. She wondered now why she hadn't just said yes without the awkward question. Didn't she trust Scott? Despite the short time they had known each other the answer was with her life which was what this little endeavour might have been asking. Tessa felt safer with Scott than she ever had with another person before and knew that he would keep her safe but the human part of her was still grounded firmly in logic. She accepted some magic and mutant powers but the skeptic humanity in her still thought about the little things like breathing and gravity.

"I should put this down, please pardon me a moment." It wasn't exactly the response she had been waiting for but then neither was the one she had given to his question a moment earlier. She watched as he fluttered towards an island in the large lake where she assumed he was going to set something down. Tessa had seen Scott fly before and had even watched herself fly in window panes but somehow it was always a magnificent sight to watch him fly. She looked more like Thumbelina in her mind's eye while Scott looked as though he belonged in the sky. Although far from jealous the female faery did wish momentarily that she looked as at home as he in the sky.

"Forgive me, all the movement is not so good for what I have in the bag." Another cryptic hint came from Scott's mouth, an explanation that did not enlighten a person. For the curious Tessa it was frustrating but she would wait, sure that whatever surprise the other faerie had for her would be worth waiting for.

"You were saying you wanted to trust me." I do, trust you that is, Tess thought but she knew that her instinctual human response to doubt was what had reared its ugly face earlier and even now, knowing that she trusted Scott with her life the doubt still lingered in the back of her head like a bad taste stays on the tongue. He raised bright eyes to her from the water and asked, "Close your eyes?" The request was worded not as a simple question though but as a plea and Tess felt certain that even had she wanted to she wouldn't have been able to refuse him this. "Just for a moment." He assured her and a hand was offered.

A faint smile formed on her face as Tessa realised he was just as eager to make sure he had her trust as she was to know she had his. She wasn't a follower or the type of girl who had a large circle of friends of whom she was the ringleader yet for some reason his opinion mattered so much to her, more than anyone in her past's had save perhaps her foster mother.
"I’m going to hold you, I’ll put my feet beneath yours for support and I would ask you to.. stop flying." Stop flying? Again came the initial impulse to doubt but amythyst eyes focused on Scott. It was him who was asking this and he wouldn't put her in danger or do anything to hurt her. No if he were asking this than he knew exactly what he was doing.
"Please? I will allow you to fall." An assuring smile send confidence through her veins as he continued, "You have shown me what it is like to see things through human eyes these last few days, let me show you how to see things in another way."

It was a beautiful way of saying things, was Tess' first thought. She hadn't really considered it too closely but Scott was right. She had been showing him the human way while he gave her glimpses into a part of her heritage she had never known. How could she deny him this now?

With an outward boldness that didn't quite go all the way to the core Tess took the offered hand, clasping it and feeling the satisfying warmth of his skin on hers. "Yes," she said. It was such a simple word really but such an important one that perhaps simplicity was neccessary. There was a firm determination in her voice without any hesitation or hint of doubt and the conviction of her response surprised even her yet Tess knew it was true. She might not have understood exactly why he was asking her to do this and with any other person she would have been far more questionning but it was Scott and she knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that he would protect her should she need it.
