Welcome Back
This past weekend had sucked to say the least. First he slept in a couple of minutes and missed out on their mission, then her had been tortured by Mystique in the form of Victroria and had kissed her, then he had suffered some of the blows his sister had been dealt with and things were not going to get any better anytime soon once Victoria got here way with Jase.
He looked at the bowl of meatballs he had on his bedside table, with self-pity. He didn’t want any anyway, they were cold, they were tasteless thanks to Mystique and he had no appetite thank to Mystique. Boy Mystique got a lot of thanks!
His first thought was defiantly to give Victoria a big kiss when she returned. ‘A big kiss would bring back tastes to my mouth,’ as he wiped his extraordinary long tongue once more, something he had been doing all weekend.
However, poor and foolish young Jason Toynbee would not be getting a big kiss, nor a little one, well not the way he’d have liked. He had forgotten about how he would not have pleased her this weekend.
A minute passed by and then he remembered, “uh oh!”
(OOC: I still love your shiny colourful titles Loz! And Victoria has been bouncing all day looking forward to this...she's almost been giddy and she's never giddy!)
Victoria ran slender fingers through her chesnut mane and made a face as her grip became entangled in the long locks. For the fashionable uptown mutant a tangle wasn't the end of the world but it was far from desirable and she didn't often shrug off hair problems as no big deal which perhaps would have been a better idea. Instead she took them to heart and wished for a mirror, wondering just how awful she looked after spending time on an island without her hair straightener and blow dryer.
High heels announced her prescence minutes ahead of time as she stomped along to the dorms where her own cozy room was waiting for her. Home sweet home, Victoria thought to herself with an overwhelming relief. To at last be off that island and safely back in the Brotherhood headquarters was a welcome change for Victoria had never been the camping type and couldn't even remember the last time she had spent a day entirely in the wilderness. Her clothes at least she had checked on the plane, making sure that they had no visible dirt stains, sweat marks or other marks she considered less than perfect but even still the poison mutant made a quick detour on her route to her boyfriend's room to her own sanctuary to freshen up. Afterall if she was going to tell him off, and there was no question about that, than she should make sure she looked amazing and let him know just what he missed.
While she changed her outfit to a simple but great looking crimson speghetti strapped tank and a ruffled black skirt Victoria reflected on the missions weekend. They hadn't gone terribly although she thought that Mystique and some of the others probably weren't so impressed by the results. What mattered to her was that she had managed to take out the leader of the rightly named Exiles. Hopefully the woman was still recovering from the dose of poison Victoria had given her. The Viper ran a brush through her mane and decided she was content enough with her appearance to go searching for that good for nothing boyfriend of hers.
Just the thought of him at the moment made her blood boil and she involuntarily clenched one fist, a sign of things to come as she walked towards the green-skinned mutant's room. Her high heels stomped louder than before, sounding the impending doom to come for Jason. How could he have missed the missions and especially by doing something so stupid as sleeping in? Maybe Victoria would have understood if her boyfriend had taken ill, maybe she might even have been sympathetic but no he just had to miss his alarm and spend the weekend away from her. Pearly white teeth clenched at the thought of it and she wondered if he had spent the weekend wishing he were there and lamenting about what he had missed out on. With more than a trace dose of insensitivity Victoria hoped he had, that he had been devestated when he realised what he had done.
She was almost to the door and wondered if Jason's sister had gotten to him yet. The one thing that the meetings had done was bring a new sort of respect and understanding to her strained relationship with Shauna Toynbee who she had never cared for before. With their common anger over Jason sleeping in the two of them had come to an understanding and it was certainly discussed that Jason would not get away scot free from all this.
Maybe Victoria was over dramatic or maybe she was just angered but whatever the reason the poison mutant wasn't content with just openning the door and instead she thrust it open, making a statement from the first moment she became visible to Jason's eyes. Arms crossed across her chest Victoria glanced defiantly around the room, taking in the bowl of meatballs on the bedroom table and Jason himself.
"What the Hell were you thinking?" she burst out after a few minutes of silence, her voice heated and setting the tone for the rest of the coversation to come. Victoria was torn between commenting on his stupidity for sleeping in, mocking him for missing the Brotherhood's big mission and asking how he could leave her like that, taking his absence very personally. "Sleeping in," she scoffed. "How stupid are you?" The question was rhetorical but Victoria almost wanted to hear his answer anyway. "And did you enjoy your relaxing vacation away from me?" This last comment was dripping in sarcasm so thick it would make anyone listening wince. Not sure just how much else she could get out Victoria openned her mouth once more then abruptly closed it, not sure what she could say next. Having momentarily finished her little rant the poison powered mutant fumed in silence, waiting for her boyfriend's reply as she thought, this oughta be good.

Re: Welcome Back
ooc - thankies, I ove ya titles too and Jason is still in hiding. Hw's get himself a good lil hiding spot!
With a thrust the door was opened and Victoria, his eyes instantly looking over her attire ‘damn she looks hot’, stood there. His previous thoughts of getting trouble were only confirmed by the look from the poison mutant. Well, maybe he didn’t just see the look of things to come, the look of how much trouble he had really gotten himself into.
"What the Hell were you thinking?" He opened his mouth but nothing came out. No words could, his mouth was too dry from tastelessness and not talking for forty-eight hours to be able to function correctly.
"Sleeping in,"‘hey, I didn’t sleep in, I my alarm went off a few minutes late,’ he thought to himself, still unable to speak. He looked to her lips, how they could return the flavour in his mouth, how they could bring back his voice. His eyes lingered on them a little longer, ‘no, don’t, she will kill you.’
"How stupid are you?" His eyes barrowed, ‘how dare she say that,’ but his blue eyes soon dropped to her lips again before they looked up and returned to normal. He had moved them back to Victoria’s dark look before she could notice. Whether or not she saw it was known by her alone.
"And did you enjoy your relaxing vacation away from me?" Now that was a stupid question. OF COURSE he hadn’t! But was he going to let Victoria know that? No. Even though she certainly did. He allowed his stupid pride to get in the way and refuse to acknowledge that. So, yes, he had a wonderful time with her gone!
Now he had to speak, but his throat was still dry so, he took a deep breath, followed by a big cough. Now he had something to work with. Even if it was a croaky voice. “First of all,” he started, “I DIDN’T sleep in. My alarm went off late so I can’t be blamed there,” yes he could, “secondly, I am NOT stupid, and thirdly, I HAD a GREAT time without you. Didn’t miss you one bit! Not one bit,” he finished, his voice wearing very thin. He looked to her lips; he needed those lips so badly. As angry as he was with her, there was no denying the fact he still loved her, he still wanted her, to hold and to kiss. And, boy did he want her after being alone for so long.
It was something she knew, he would always come back to her and what kept the two together. Jason knew that too on some level, but took no notice of it.
Another deep breath and his frog-like (no pun intended) voice came back, a little softer than before. “So, next time you plan on going out take as much time as you like, a week, month, year, forever, I don’t care.” Yes he did. He instantly regretted that. He wanted he right now and he had just given her the perfect opportunity to leave.
Re: Welcome Back
Apparently Jason was as unable to speak as she currently was because even after she had finished her harsh words Victoria's boyfriend had to take a deep breath and cough before finding words in his mouth. She would have liked to think that it was because she had put the fear of the gods into Jason but Victoria wasn't that deluded even if she was a tad arrogant at times. The croaky voice he finally did speak in was oddly appropriate for the son of Toad and if Victoria hadn't been so infuriated she might have taken the time to notice the strange coincidence.
“First of all.” First of all? He thought he could actually make a reasonal arguement back to her and try and excuse his behaviour? The poison mutant haughtily tossed her hair and her eyes burned with flames that would have incinerated the bed and that plate of cold meatballs if Victoria's powers had been anything like her teammate Kal-El's heat ray. “I DIDN’T sleep in," he continued and Victoria raised one eyebrow in clear disbelief but said nothing, letting him finish.
"My alarm went off late so I can’t be blamed there.” He thought he couldn't be blamed? If he believed that than he had alot to learn about life and particularly about his girlfriend who, by the expression on her fine features, clearly thought otherwise. "Secondly, I am NOT stupid". That brought on a rather unladylike snort of laughter from Victoria who again disagreed with the statement. Of course she knew he wasn't really stupid, the question had been rhetorical afterall, but in her present state of mind the brunette was too fired up to be honest and think about what she truly believed so she saw her boyfriend as stupid. If not in actual brain capacity than he certainly was in the decisions he had made anyway.
"and thirdly, I HAD a GREAT time without you," Jason continued. "Didn’t miss you one bit! Not one bit.” His voice was thin but Victoria heard only the words he had said and not their tune, so infused was she by what he had dared say to her. It was the last straw for the Viper. If he had been immidiately contrite and if he had given in she would have gotten over it and dropped the matter, after a fair amount of grovelling and perhaps some flowers on his part of course, but now, now she couldn't possibly tell him that he had been stupid to miss the missions and that he would have to make it up to her.
She didn't notice his gaze on her lips at first after this exclamation in her fury. She did however notice his and while not as lush and appealing as her own pair likely looked to Jason Victoria had missed Jason in a physical way as well as emotionally. The island had had too few guys and she wasn't interested in Dekay, who had clearly been taken with the Drama Queen anyway, or with the distant Kal-El. The whole time she had been thinking about Jason, alternating between planning his slow and torturous death and deeply wishing that he were there with her. The missons had been full of moments where she had done something or watched another team member do something and had wanted to share it with Jason only to remember he wasn't there with her. She had to admit it, as much as she liked some of the members of the Brotherhood she was closest in love and hate to Jason and no one else came close but then again girls like Victoria weren't the type to have a gaggle of girl pals anyway. Despite their bonding Shauna was a poor substitute for her brother and Victoria resented his absence many a time.
Some part of her knew that no matter what he did and no matter what she said they would always end up together. It wasn't fairytale love or anything cutesy but it was the sort of passion that came through in love and hate alternately and even at its worst there was still attraction and love there. Times like now. No matter how much she cared for him though Victoria wasn't about to let her boyfriend get away with saying he had had a great time without her no matter how unfelt his words or how great his lips looked. No he had to be punished, to be cut off or something for that was the only way he would learn in the mind of the strongwilled mutant.
He took another deep breath and a moment of emotional pain ran through Victoria as she realised he wasn't finished and wondered what more he could thrust at her. His voice was a little softer now but he was still saying words that were too hurtful for her to hear and just let run over her. “So, next time you plan on going out take as much time as you like, a week, month, year, forever, I don’t care.”
The problem was that Victoria had never been good at controlling her temper or at letting things go. She would hold a grudge to the grave her father has used to joke and it came through in the long arguments Victoria and Jason often found themselves in. "Yeah you want me to leave? Maybe I will. I don't have to hang around this dump to find a guy," Victoria retorted sharply but just as strong as the anger in her voice was the hurt. How stupid that she had felt insulted even while a part of her knew that he didn't mean each word he spoke but love was rarely logical, even the sort of love and hate that the two of them had.
Then Victoria went in for the kill though, not seeming to know when to stop. "A couple of the X-men were appealing and I doubt they would turn me down." That was only partially true. The poison mutant had been so focused on taking out their leader that she hadn't had much time to admire the eye candy but remembering a shorter (too short perhaps?) dark haired guy and a pretty boy blonde among others Victoria saw potential in the team they called the Exiles. It was also true that they probably wouldn't say no. She was attractive and if she were actually willing Victoria doubted the X-men would turn her down.
"Besides, even if I just stay here there's Kal-El to keep me company." That one she was hoping would sting, the memory of their shared kiss which had meant nothing but caused an eruption between Jason and her nonetheless burned bright in Victoria's mind and she figured it probably wasn't far from her boyfriend's either. How could she possibly admit that the only lips she was thinking about were hers? So instead Victoria leered at Jason, mocking him with empty threats all the while hoping he could come to his senses and beg her to stay. All she wanted was somesort of an apology instead of an excuse. Was it really so hard for him to get that through his thick head?

Re: Welcome Back
He knew that had hurt her. He didn’t really want her gone, she knew that right? However she was not going to let him get away with this, "Yeah you want me to leave? Maybe I will. I don't have to hang around this dump to find a guy," she had replied, the bit of hurt was heard by Jason and a part of him, the angry part, loved it while the rest of him felt guilty. He didn’t want this. She didn’t want this.
"A couple of the X-men were appealing and I doubt they would turn me down." Now it was his time to hurt, it cut deep into his ego. The X-Men? No way. If she had one of them, any of them, he’d go march… leap right over there and give them a hiding, maybe it wouldn’t even stop there and there would be deaths. He would do anything to keep her. Anything.
"Besides, even if I just stay here there's Kal-El to keep me company." He frowned in annoyance. If there was one person he could not stand seeing, it would have to be Kal-El. Having known his lips had touched his girlfriends. She said t meant nothing but it still hurt all the same. Remembering the kiss he looked at Vic’s lips, he wanted to kiss them so much.
“No,” again it was croaky and very thin, barely heard, he coughed again. No use. He grumble to himself. There was one thing to make this all right again…
He leaped over to Victoria, grabbed her by the shoulders, not too romantic but this was an emergency, and placed a big kiss upon Victoria, his girlfriend, his Victoria, his. No one else’s. He remember her was supposed to be angry or acting angry at least as his tongue started to get in on the action so he pulled away and leaped back. The tastes had returned, her hoped that was not his last. It was soo good.
“Had to do that,” he started, his voice back to normal and trying to hide the fact he enjoyed, no loved they kiss, “only way to get my voice back.” Well it was! There was no one else who held the power to do that.
“Fine, go! See if I miss ya? Send me a postcard,” he added childishly, playful, like he was not angry. A slip up. He narrowed his eyes to cover it.
He had said a ‘No,’ but had forgotten saying soon after. He had the kiss taking over his mind! He was almost about to warm up and give in. however, he hadn’t…
Re: Welcome Back
The frown of annoyance was more or less the reaction Victoria had hoped her empty threat would provoke and she drank it in greedily. A part of her didn't want to hurt him anymore than he did her but the other part still stung from his harsh words to her and at the moment the Viper was believing strongly in karma and in old but somewhat true sayings. You should be able to take what you dish out and everything you do comes back to you as it was Jason in this case and herself in turn.
“No.” It took a moment for it to sink in for the brunette and she glanced at him suspiciously, almost believing that he was winding her up only to knock her back down once more. Maybe he would throw back in her face the girls he could get himself. There was that whole green skin colour issue to get beyond but he was a handsome man and if you could get past the tongue tongue and the superficial skin issues as Victoria had he could be a catch, that she had to admit. She would never admit that he was more of a catch than herself of course but it wasn't as though Victoria was his one and only physical attraction for life. They could each have had their share of other affairs if either of them had been inclined but beyond flirting to make their partner jealous nothing ever transpired because despite it all, the fights and the jealousy, what they had was genuine and it was love. Love came in many forms and while theirs was a little different than most it was still love.
The raspy 'no' was followed by a cough and a few murmers under his breath as though he was talking to himself. Victoria stared at him for a moment, wondering if Jason had gone mad in her absence but apparently he was just deciding that actions spoke louder than words since a few seconds found him leaping over to where she stood, grabbing her by the shoulders and leaning in for a deep kiss. It was far from a romantic gesture but Victoria understood passion and want, the pair of them had given into lust a few times before.
At first Victoria was surprised, afterall considering they had just been mutually angry it was a shock that he would all of a sudden place his lips on hers. Yet after a moment it seemed to sink in and all that the poison mutant could think was that it felt right. She gave in, beginning slowly to kiss him back but not with enough fire to say that everything was alright again, no her returning kiss was tenative and filled with the notion that this one gesture wouldn't make everything alright. Just as she felt his tongue in her mouth and began to give in Jason pulled away and Victoria bit back a groan of frustration. Did he always have to ruin everything for her? That weekend, that kiss and the list went on.
“Had to do that,” Jason said and Victoria looked at him with an expression that was almost thoughtful wondering how she should take that. As a mad gesture of posession and need to show that she was still his girlfriend? As a moment showing that she was beautiful and that he needed her deeply? Everything seemed so unclear to her as she tried to figure out how to deceiver that one long kiss.
“Only way to get my voice back.” Well that was a possibility she hadn't explored. It was the lamest thing Victoria had ever heard because she had felt what she was sure he had felt and knew that there was passion behind this kiss, not an exchange of saliva so he could speak properly. The fact that he couldn't even admit why he had done what he had was what annoyed Victoria most though. She had been beginning to relent but the mere thought that he couldn't even admit it annoyed the poison powered mutant so much that the melting of the iceburg stopped and she became fridgid once more, the coldness showing in her deep eyes.
“Fine, go! See if I miss ya? Send me a postcard,” That last comment was playful and said in a tone that didn't indicate any anger which was fine by Victoria. In what world did he have the right to be angry anyway? Certainly not in anyone she could imagine for in her eyes Jason had been entirely the one at fault and she had done no wrong. She almost wanted to say what she was really thinking, that if he would just say he was sorry and admit to some fault, and of course give into future grovelling until she was appeased, than she would forgive him and they could go back to basking in the joy of eachother's lips.
"Maybe I will," Victoria said defiantly in reply. Despite the fact that her response was mostly a 'fine be that way' sort of comment it sounded serious and there was a small amount of consideration for actual going away. How wonderful would it be to get away from the Brotherhood hang out for awhile, even if it was for something as simple as lying on a beach in Hawaii. The Poison Princess knew that her father had money enough to send her anywhere she wished and friends in high places so she would be well tended to wherever she decided to go. "Europe perhaps, I hear the men are terrible flirts," Victoria said, her voice sounding entirely serious and still tinged with a certain stubborn anger and refusal to give in. "I'd write but I'm sure I'll be far too busy being entertained to bother," she said, pausing for a moment before adding, "Besides I might just sleep through my alarm and miss the chance." The last comment didn't even make the most sense but since the whole point of it was to get in a dig at Jason and the one thing that had started this whole mess in the first place she didn't particularly care.
Victoria's comment sounded more serious than they were though. She did like the thought of doing to Europe or anywhere else in the globe with her father's money but everytime she closed her eyes and pictured herself somewhere around the globe it was with Jason beside her. Jason and herself at the Eiffel Tower, dining in a fancy restaurant or in Venice. No matter where the place the face beside her was always the same. Why couldn't he smarten up and apologise already so she could suggest a trip somewhere? Wondering if he was going to do anything and a little scared that he'd let another opportunity pass, although Victoria did have the smug assurance of his kiss and lame excuse earlier, she turned with a toss of her chesnut mane towards the door. Taking a few slow steps towards it in her high heels she waited for him to say something to make her turn around.
'Give me one reason to stay here, and I'll turn right back around.' The lyrics from an old song her father has used to play came unbidden into her head and the poison mutant thought of just how true they were in these circumstances. She wanted to turn around but she needed a reason to and Jason had to give it to her.

Re: Welcome Back
He knew she wouldn’t believe him. How could a kiss return a flavourless mouth? But it had, how else do you explain it returning? All right it was probably something in the mind but the Bounder was not going to believe that. He liked the other one better, much better and from the looks… lips of things Victoria wasn’t complaining either. He hoped she wouldn’t ask how his mouth had gotten so dry. He couldn’t tell her the truth. He couldn’t tell her Mystique had come into his room in the Viper’s form and they had shared a passionate kiss together. He could never tell her that.
“Fine, go! See if I miss ya? Send me a postcard,” he had said. A slap across the back of his head was done on the inside of his head. Surely she didn’t want to go, they had shared that kiss. But he had given her the que to walk on out of here also.
"Maybe I will," she said to her boyfriends hurting ears. ‘No, she won’t. She just wants me to crack first.’ But somehow he didn’t believe his own words, he didn’t want her to go. He wanted her to stay in his arms… on his lips…
"Europe perhaps, I hear the men are terrible flirts," Europe? All those men, one Victoria. No, no, no. His ears. He couldn’t believe what the poison mutant was saying. He couldn’t show her what he was thinking so he kept with his angry face. That’ll show her… and make her want to leave sooner… he wasn’t sure what to do.
"I'd write but I'm sure I'll be far too busy being entertained to bother," Teeth gritted at the words of his girlfriend, soon to be ex-girlfriend if he did nothing and just let her walk out. Too busy? Too busy to write to him? Anger flared up a notch again, too busy with other guys to bother? And the entertainment, what would that be exactly? ‘That’s it!’ but he was far too angry and hurt to even know what the ‘it’ was.
"Besides I might just sleep through my alarm and miss the chance." ‘Making fun of me now?’ he thought, offended. She couldn’t go around making fun of him, he was hurt and angry and, in a way, confused. He looked at her, past the outfit, past the lips and into those chestnut eyes. Did she really mean what she was saying? The look, the search didn’t last long for Jason’s head was filled with too much emotion to see anything.
“Well?” he asked, “I’m not stopping you!” the leaping mutant said, his voice encouraging her, the angry side encouraging her to go. ‘What are you saying?’ Another mental slap. He wanted her to stay, now he’d done it. She’d leave without really knowing he loved her, or so he thought but if he didn’t do something quick… no, his pride stood in the way. He’d rather watch as the one person he loves walks right out of his life than tell her what she both wants and needs to hear. Men!
Re: Welcome Back“Well?” Jason's voice fired back at her and it was as if Victoria had been slapped in the face. She was so used to guys who gave into her, into every stupid little desire. The poison princess knew very well that she could have any guy she wanted and that most of them would have her, not needing to be asked twice. Why then was the only guy she wanted Jason? And more importantly why did she have to fall for the one guy who was too stubborn to just back down and tell her what she wanted to hear, to fall at her feet and beg for forgiveness. It was what any other guy would have done. But then again maybe that was why it was only Jason and not some other guy that she wanted. Maybe there was something of the combative stubborn challenge he posed that occationally thrilled her...when it wasn't annoying the Hell out of her that was!
“I’m not stopping you!” His voice was encouraging and Victoria couldn't help it, her jaw dropped ever so slightly and malice burned in her eyes. There it was then. She was free of him, of the Brotherhood who had not really been a serious and big committment in Victoria's life or at least wouldn't have remained important to her if it weren't for Jason. She didn't want to be free though. Now she didn't flirt with other guys for the fun of it or just because she could, she flirted only to make Jason jealous or not at all. Victoria was independant enough and had enough self-esteem to not feel like she needed a man there to cling to, afterall her poisoning powers kept her safer than a 'big strong man' ever could. Yet a part of her did feel like she needed Jason and it wasn't because of anysort of dependance. Maybe, just maybe it was a twisted form of love that told her they would always be apart of one another no matter how much hate and despair they could cause one another.
There was never any question that they would make up once again, the only question was who would be the first to give in and this time the poison mutant swore it was not going to be her. He was the one who had done the wrong here and he would be the one to make up.
So Victoria glanced back at Jason and spit out the words from full crimson lips, "When you're ready to apologise come find me". It was haughty arrogance and it was the essence of Victoria, her to the core in this stubborn spoiled brat who refused to give in and let another win, especially when she percieved that they had been the wrongdoer in a situation. There was a smug satisfaction in her expression, the thought that she had won at least for now but it was tinged with that slight loss. She had made it through those missions without him and all she had wanted was to get caught up in his kisses now that she was back but it wasn't to be so long as they were both so proud and stubborn. So instead Victoria turned on her heel after one last haughty glance at her boyfriend and walked out of the room, chestnut hair a mane flowing behind her as if a superhero's cloak while she left. When he was ready (or desperate enough) hopefully he'd find her and until then she would just have to deal without him.
(OOC: Hey Loz I was thinking maybe Victoria could run into Tonique now somewhere and we could get a thread going if you wanted. Especially since that would make Jason nice and jealous that Vic finally has a friend in the brotherhood . What do you think?)
