Welcome Home (Clay and Tess)
Clay had arrived back a short while ago and while his head told him he should see someone, tell them what had happened and that he was safe another part of him couldn't bare to leave his room.
The lights were off and he sat alone in the dark. He remembered his parents talking about what a bit shock could do to the system and what trauma was like, they had counselling for this sort of thing. Clay was afraid he might actually need it.
His much needed time alone was not to be though for there was a sharp rapping on the door and he heard his own raspy voice, hoarse from the little use it had gotten call out, "It's open."
He blinked as the bright lights of his room came to life and illuminated the figures at the door. At first glance Clay wondered if it was a parade almost for there were five girls there, two of which were extremely excited and two of which he didn't recognize.
"Clay!" cried the first, it was more like a shriek than anything and in a moment she had bounded across the room and her blonde curls bobbed near his face as her arms enloped him in a massive hug.
Only when he groaned a little did she let go and he could truly see her, the face that had been in his dreams for awhile. "Tess?" he croaked and the violet eyed fairy smiled gently, the radiance of her smile lighting up her face.
A muffled coughing sound from the doorway was all that alerted Clay and Tess to the fact that there were others there.
"Oh I'm sorry Clay. You remember Nalani of course and they are Halle, Loni and Aisha," Tessa said, pointing them out in turn.
"I know her," Clay got out, his eyes on Aisha, the girl from the other world. He had met her briefly and was glad to know that she wasn't stuck in the hellish world from which she had come.
He was silent after that though and Tess exchanged a worried look with the rest of the girls.
"We'll be outside in the sun," Nalani said, getting the message. She longed to welcome Clay home but Tess was his best friend and the truly familiar face to Clay. It was only fitting that she should be first.
"How you holding up?" Tessa asked softly after she had closed the door and come to sit beside him on the bed.
"Alright I guess," Clay replied, his eyes downcast. There had never been any fooling her though.
"Seriously."
"I feel numb," Clay replied in so quiet a tone she could barely hear him. "Take care of Aisha alright? Don't let her go back."
"I won't," Tess replied, matching his whisper. He looked about to break down but held it back, not wanting to let loose in front of her. "It's alright. I know it's been tough but you're home now. Everything will be alright," the Faerie said softly.
She held him and as he wept silvery faerie tears fell down her own cheeks. She had gotten him back but he wasn't the same and never would be again.
