Darren has had to resign from facilitator as he has graduated from Grad School and is busy being a scientist in immunology.
We are delighted to introduce Mary Perry as the new Support and Coping facilitator taking over for Darren. Mary has idiopathic uveitis and is being treated with immunomodulatory chemotherapy. She currently is on Zenapax intravenous therapy and has been quiet for over a year now on therapy.
We are excited to have her as a part of our support family. Some of you may know her as she is a member of the board.
I used to know a Mary Perry when I lived oversees. She was from the Boston area and moved back there before I graduated. Is Perry your married or maiden name?
Re: Welcome
Thank you for the welcome! I'm excited to be working with this wonderful group of people. A while back, when I was going through some tough times with my uveitis, it was so helpful to know I was not alone in my struggles.
Rebecca, that's funny that you met another Mary Perry. I've never lived overseas, so it wasn't me! Perry is my married name.
Re: Welcome Mary Perry as new facilitator
Hi Mary!
Welcome to the role of facilitator! Glad to have you on board.
I, too, am on Zenapax infusions for Birdshot. I'm finally up to once a month. My FA looks great, so I believe this is the drug treatment for me right now.
After successful bunion foot surgery in Feb., I finally was able to get out of my big black 'boot' on Monday. On Tuesday, I fell in a parking garage and broke a bone off my heel...same foot. The Achilles' tendon is also detached and needs to be repaired. Surgery was scheduled for this afternoon, but mine was cancelled due to another pressing emergency surgery in the O.R.. Now, I wait once again for my surgeons' next opening. Life is never dull around here.
Re: Welcome Mary Perry as new facilitator
Gae, I can't believe your bad luck with that foot! Hope you get your surgery scheduled quickly. Sending some healing angels your way!
Re: Welcome Mary Perry as new facilitator
Thanks Mary. I'm scheduled for this coming Thursday. It's hard to absorb that I'm going through this again. I keep positive thoughts that it could be much worse. It just really s**ks that my eyes are doing so well and now I can't drive where I want to go! My husband is looking into building some kind of portable ramp for me to get out of my house easier. With this lovely weather, it makes it harder to stay put. If I can practice getting my wheelchair in/out of my car by myself without too much trouble, then I'll be FREE again! We shall see......
Welcome Mary
HI Mary and Welcome as new facilitator.
We are fortunate to have your support and help. I am very thankful for Darryl's help as well, as I know it must take a lot of time and love on yall's part for being here for everyone.
