great idea this Vixx. And so many topics to choose from right away!
Glenn/Squeezy related things are like Xmas - can't have too much of 'em, he he
I'm a (mature, well sometimes) student. I love music, dance, books and people. I'm married to Mark (who appreciates the same music, luckily) and I live in the UK.
I suppose I should tell you a little about myself, too. ^^
We seem to have similar interests - books, people, music, dance - and I'm also married to Mark and live in the UK! I live in Cardiff, though . . . And while I am a student as in I'm studying for my MA, I also work full-time as an Additional Needs Co-ordinator enabling people with disabilities to get back to education.
I'm also a new mum - I had my first child about five months ago.
I'm new - welcome me!

Re: Welcome to Frank
hi, just thought i'd join here and introduce myself, i'm also a student, mum and i'm a care worker too. like much of the same, i.e., books, music etc and hope this forum takes off, gets lots of people and does really well
Things have finally calmed down a bit after Christmas so I thought maybe I should announce myself as a late arrival
I'm feeling a little out of place here, as I'm not a student, nor am I married to Mark. I do live in Wales though, Vix, so we have some common thread there (although that may be changing soon). I work in Powys County Council's records department, though sadly they're not the interesting sort of records that we all love. I've got 2 kids aged 12 and 8, and a couple of vicious gerbils. And a husband.
I'm looking forward to seeing this site and forum grow and grow, so thanks for setting it up!
Hello!
I’m Steven. I’m a Squeeze addict, but I haven’t listened to an album today!
In the interests of social diversity, I’m a bloke, I’m not married to anyone called Mark and I’m not Welsh. In fact I live in the North East, I’m married to Lisa and spend most of the day on the Internet when I should be working.
I was first aware of Squeeze in their heyday but I was only a kid then and my obsession didn’t start properly until the early 1990’s. I used to post on the Squeezefan mailing list back when it was on Onelist but never really got back into it after the move to Yahoo.
I think I prefer the message board approach and the lack of popups and adverts is creditable. Nice one Vikki.
Hello Steven. Welcome, and I hope you managed to rectify the fact that you hadn't listened to any albums yesterday. Come to think of it I haven't yet either.....
Re: Hello!
Now there's a thought. I haven't listened to that one in a while.
The best time is during painting and decorating, I've found. I usually manage to listen to all the albums in chronological order, and then start all over again when I've finished. I'm always glad when UK Squeeze is out of the way though
Re: Hello!
I'm pleased someone else admits to doing the chronological listening thing. I have been known to do it when I'm working from home. There are one or two high points on the first album like First Thing Wrong and Take Me, but I know what you mean.
Gets a bit dodgy during Sweets From A Stranger too.
I also do the chronological listening, I'm embarrassed to say - usually after a Squeeze absence on my CD player. It's nice to jump back in that way.
I like their first album though - despite several low points, there's something about the raw let's-play-guitar-till-our-fingers-fall-off-ness of the debut that always makes me smile. Wish I'd seen em live then. Sweets is probably my least favourite, although there's still a couple of jewels in there - namely When The Hangover Strikes and the Elephant Ride.
V xx
p.s. I almost died when they played First Thing Wrong a few years back. It was stunning live!
Re: Hello!
Vixx wrote - Hey, Stevie. We met before??
Why Victoria, I do believe we have!
I also remember the shock of hearing First Thing Wrong live. I think it was on the last proper Squeeze tour. (I'm not counting the Blondie support tour as to my mind that was Glenn and a bunch of session musicians, not Squeeze!)
